It was a normal morning. Fluttershy was tending to her animals. She was giving all of them food. Fish to the otters. Worms to the birds. She then noticed Angel eating his carrot really fast.

"Not too fast now, Angel Bunny." She said. "You don't wanna get a tummy ache."

Taking offense to this Angel dropped his carrot.

"You really should eat more than that, don't you think?" Asked Fluttershy.

Angel just hopped off. "It's not play time yet." Fluttershy told him.

She followed Angel. "I know you wanna run, but just three more bites?"

Angel shook his head.

"Two more bites?"

He still refused.

"One more bite?" Asked Fluttershy. "Pretty please."

Angel just kicked the carrot away and bounced off. But then he started coughing.

"Oh goodness." Said Fluttershy. "Are you okay?"

Angel kept coughing.

"Are you coughing because there's a carrot stuck in your throat?" Asked Fluttershy. Angel kept coughing. "Because you need some water?" Angel then coughed really loudly. Fluttershy looked up and saw a whole bunch of smoke coming from a mountain. "Because of that giant cloud of black smoke?"

Angel just threw his half eaten carrot at her. "I'll take that as a yes."

So Fluttershy made her way to town trying to warn the other ponies. But no one heard or listened because of her quiet voice.

But then Rainbow Dash came out of nowhere scaring Fluttershy.

"Don't be such a scaredy pony." Said Dash. "It's just me. Future Equestria ball bouncing record holder." She said before counting. "Three forty six. Three forty seven."

Pinkie then showed up. "This calls for a celebration."

"No Pinkie this is no time for a celebration." Said Fluttershy quietly. "This is a time for panic, for-" But Pinkie didn't hear her.

"Ooh, I'm going to need balloons. One for everypony in Ponyville." Said Pinkie before counting. "One. Two. Three. Four. Five."

But this made Dash lose count. "Pinkie Pie now I have to start over."

Fluttershy tried speaking again, but was still too quiet. "Oh this is an emergency. I need everypony to-" But Fluttershy was cut off when Twilight, Luna, and Spike showed up.

"Listen up!" Said Twilight. "Smoke is spreading all over Equestria!"

This got the ponies attention.

Fluttershy spoke again. "That's what I've been trying to-" But Twilight cut her off as she was too quiet to be heard or noticed.

"But don't worry, I've just received a letter from Princess Celestia informing me that it is not coming from a fire." Twilight assured them.

"Oh thank goodness." Said Fluttershy relieved.

But Twilight then spoke again. "It's coming from a dragon."

Fluttershy gasped and looked nervous. "A dr- Dragon?"

Later everyone was back at the Golden Oaks Library.

"What in the name of cinnamon swirled is a full grown dragon, doing in Equestria?" Asked Applejack.

"Sleeping." Answered Twilight.

"Huh?"

"According to Princess Celestia, he's taking a nap and his snoring is what's causing all this smoke." Explained Twilight.

"He should really see a doctor." Said Pinkie. "That doesn't sound healthy at all."

"Actually, I'm pretty sure snoring snoring smoke is normal for dragons." Said Luna.

"Well at least he's not snoring fire." Said Rarity. "What are we meant to do about it?"

"I'll tell you what where meant to do." Said Dash. "We give him the boot."

"Take that!" She said flying around. "And that!" She said before crashing.

"We need to encourage him to take a nap somewhere else." Said Twilight. "Princess Celestia has given us this mission and we must not fail." She said. "If we do Equestria will be covered in smoke for the next one hundred year."

Fluttershy let out a small gasp.

"Talk about getting your beauty sleep." Said Rarity.

"More like hibernation." Said Luna.

"All right everypony, I need you to gather supplies quickly." Said Twiligh. "We've got a long journey ahead of us. Let's meet back here in less than an hour."

"Okay girls you heard her." Said Dash. "The fate of Equestria is in our hooves. Do we have what it takes?"

The others nodded but Fluttershy looked unsure. "Um actually." But no one heard her as they all exited.

Rainbow Dash went to Cloudsdale and put some color on her cheeks. "Rah!"

Applejack was at Sweet Apple Acres getting supplies from her family. As soon as she had her saddlebag she jumped up. "Yah!"

Pinkie exited Sugar Cube Corner but some confetti came out of her saddlebag. She giggled before realizing. "I mean. Grr!"

Rarity was at the Carousel Boutique wearing a helmet when she noticed her reflection. "Ew." She put on a sun hat instead. "Much better onward now."

Fluttershy came out of her cottage heavily armored with football gear. But was startled by the closing door. "Ehh."

Soon the Mane Six and Luna met up.

"All right girls listen up." Said Twilight. "I'm mapping out the fastest route. But we've all got to keep a good pace if we expect to make it up the mountain by nightfall."

"M-m. Mountain?" Asked Fluttershy.

"The dragon is in that cave at the very top." Said Twilight pointing at the mountain.

"Looks pretty cold up there?" Said AJ.

"You bet it is." Said Rainbow Dash. "The higher you go the chillier it gets."

"Wish I had my winter clothes." Said Luna.

"Lucky I brought my scarf." Said Rarity, before pulling it out and putting it on.

"Ooh, pretty." Said Pinkie.

"Heh heh. Oh yeah, that'll keep you nice and cozy." Said Dash sarcastically.

While all that was going on Fluttershy walked up to Twilight who's attention was mainly on a map.

"Uh Twilight I know your busy but..."

"Uh-huh, well we could go this way."

"If I could just have a second..."

"No we wanna avoid that."

"So, um, I was thinking that, um, maybe I should just stay here in Ponyville."

"Uh-huh."

"Oh good, I'll stay here and-"

"Wait!" Called Twilight. "You have to come, your way with wild animals will surely come in handy."

"I don't think I-"

"Oh, and don't worry about your little friends in the meadow." Twilight assured. "Spike's got it covered while you're gone."

"You can count on me." Said Spike. But then Angel began thumping his head and the animals ran off. "Hey come back here."

"Oh I don't really think he's up to the task." Said Fluttershy.

"Are you sure you want Fluttershy to come along?" Asked Rainbow Dash. "I mean that pony's afraid of her own shadow. She's just going to slow us down."

"She's just a little nervous." Said Twilight. "Once we get going I'm sure she'll be fine."

"If you say so." Said Luna.

Suddenly Fluttershy noticed her shadow and let out a squeal before hopping into a bush.

Dash looked at Twilight annoyed.

"All right girls, move out." Said Twilight.

The girls all began runnung except Fluttershy.

"But... But..." But they dragged her away. "AHHH!"

As they approached the mountain they heard a loud noise. Fluttershy hid behind the others.

"What was that?" Asked Rainbow.

"That's what it sounds like when a dragon snores." Said Twilight.

Fluttershy then saw how high the mountain was. "It's so high?"

"Well it is a mountain, not a bump on the ground." Said Luna.

"I'm gonna fly up an check it out." Said Dash before AJ grabbed her tail.

"Hold on, now. I think we should all go up together." She said. "Safety in numbers and all."

"Oh alright." Said Dash reluctantly.

Later our heroes were scaling the mountain.

"I hear the only thing that sparkles more than a dragon's scales are the jewels they use to build their nests." Said Rarity "Ooh, if I play my cards right I might be able to convince him to part with a few!"

Pinkie Pie then deepened her voice and imitated a dragon. "Welcome to my cave Rarity, care for a diamond?"

Everyone sans Twilight laughed at this.

"Girls, this is no laughing matter!" She said. Fluttershy you're the expert on wild creatures. What do you think the dragon will be like?" Asked Twilight but Fluttershy didn't answer. "Fluttershy?"

They all saw that Fluttershy hadn't even begun climbing yet.

"Hey what are you waiting for?" Asked Rainbow Dash. "An invitation?"

"Ooh I think I have one in my bag." Said Pinkie. She began searching her bag.

"Pinkie she was being sarcastic." Said Luna.

"Oh."

"I-It's so steep." Said Fluttershy shakily.

"Well it is a cliff." Said Dash. "You could just, oh I don't know, fly up here."

"Come on Fluttershy you can do it." Pinkie encouraged. "Flap those wings."

Fluttershy tried to and she began flying but then she heard another dragon snore and fell to the ground. She tried flying again but couldn't.

"Ugh we don't have time for this." Said Twilight. Then Applejack took the map from her. "What are you doing?"

"I'll need this if I'm going to take her around the mountain another way." AJ explained.

"Around the mountain?" Asked Rainbow. "That's going to take them forever."

AJ went down to Fluttershy but then they heard another dragon snore which made Fluttershy stiffen and fall over. "Don't worry Twi, we'll be there lickety split." Said AJ before dragging Fluttershy off. Twilight then looked at all of the smoke.

As time went of Rarity and Pinkie Pie were playing tic-tac-toe to pass the time.

"Woo-hoo." Cheered Pinkie. "I win again."

"That's thirty-five games in a row." Said Rarity. "Best out of seventy one."

Twilight, Luna, and Dash just paced. Suddenly Applejack appeared dragging a still frozen Fluttershy.

"We... Made... It." Said AJ panting.

"Told ya it was gonna take them forever." Dash told Twilight.

Later they walked on the mountain path.

They then came across a gap and Dash flew while the others jumped across, except Fluttershy.

"Your turn Fluttershy." Said Luna.

"But... It's... So... Wide." She said.

"C'mon Fluttershy." Said Twilight. "We should be much farther along by now."

"You could just leap over." Said AJ.

"I don't know." Said Fluttershy.

"There's nothing to be afraid of." Said Pinkie. "It's just a hop, skip and a jump." She then jumped over again. "See?"

Pinkie Pie then began singing.

PINKIE PIE

It's not very far. Just move your little rump. You can make it if you try with a hop, skip and jump

"Pinkie Pie we don't have time for this." Said Twilight.

PINKIE PIE

Pinkie sang as she hopped back and forth.

"O-Okay." Said Fluttershy getting ready. "Here I go. A hop..."

"That's it."

"You got it."

"Almost there."

"That's it."

"Skip." Said Fluttershy.

"Just don't look down." Said Twilight.

But upon hearing that Fluttershy immediately looked down. She struggled a little before getting caught in between the two sides as the gap was very small. Her friends helped her get to the other side.

"I guess I forgot to jump." Said Fluttershy.

Later they were walking up the trail again.

"Let's keep it down." Twilight whispered. "According to my map, we're entering an avalanche zone." She explained. "The smallest peep could cause a huge rock slide."

Fluttershy looked nervous. "An ava... Ava-"

"Shh."

Soon they continued walking keeping quiet. But then Rainbow Dash caused some leaves to fall over which landed on Fluttershy and scream. "AVALA-" Applejack quickly covered her mouth with a hoof. But it was too late as her echo caused a rock slide. They all began running. Twilight was almost crushed but AJ pushed her out of the way.

"Is everypony okay?" Asked Applejack once the rocks stopped and the dust cleared.

"Thanks to you I am." Said Twilight.

Rarity shook some dirt off herself.

"Woo-hoo." Cheered Pinkie. "Let's do it again."

"Ugh. This is why a girl always packs extra accessories." Said Rarity before putting her scarf on. "Oh, please tell me I brought the tiara that goes with this."

"Uh, think we got bigger problems than making sure our hair bows match our horseshoes." Said Rainbow.

"Yeah." Agreed Luna.

They all saw that a pile of dirt and rocks was blocking them.

"Sorry." Said Fluttershy.

"Aww no big whoop, sugarcube." AJ assured.

"Yeah we'll just have to, huh, climb over." Said Twilight.

As the team climbed over they all struggled a bit. Then Fluttershy slipped causing her, Rarity, and Fluttershy to slide down and fall over.

"My apologies." Said Rarity as Dash helped her up.

"Not your fault." Said Dash before flying over to Twilight. "Still think it was a good idea to bring Fluttershy along?"

"We're about to find out." Said Twilight. "We're here."

They had approached the dragon's cave.

"Now what?" Asked Luna.

Twilight began giving directions.

"Rainbow Dash you'll use your wings to clear the smoke."

"Mmhm." Said Dash before flying up.

"Rarity and Pinkie Pie, you'll create a diversion to distract the dragon if things get a little hairy in there."

Pinkie then went and pulled out a rubber chicken that she shook and squeaked.

"Applejack, you're ready with the apples in case he decides to attack." AJ kicked a few apples onto a tree to show she was ready. "But it shouldn't come to that, because Fluttershy will do what she needs to do to wake him up, and between the two of us we should be able to get him to understand why he needs to go." Said Twilight. "Is everypony ready?

Everypony nodded. Except Fluttershy who looked worried.

"Okay then, we're going in." Twilight said before walking into the cave.

"So, what's the best way to wake up a sleeping dragon without upsetting him?" Twilight asked Fluttershy before realizing she wasn't here. "Fluttershy? Oh come on!" Said Twilight starting to get annoyed.

She walked out of the cave and found Fluttershy with her head in the dirt. She and the others tried to push Fluttershy in. "Come on! Ugh! We have to do this! Ugh! Now! Every, ugh, second longer that dragon, ugh, sleeps is another, ugh, acre of Equestria that is covered in, ugh, smoke."

"I-I-I can't go in the cave." Said Fluttershy.

"Ugh!"

"Oh great, now she's afraid of caves." Said Rainbow Dash.

"I'm not scared of caves." Fluttershy corrected. "I'm scared of..." She mumbled the last part.

"What's that sugar cube?" Asked AJ.

"I'm scared of..." She mumbled again.

"I'm sorry what?" Asked Luna.

"I'm scared of..."

"What?" Asked Twilight.

"I'm scared of dragons!" Fluttershy finally admitted.

Suddenly they heard another dragon snore, which caused Fluttershy to get scared.

They coughed from the smoke.

After the smoke cleared Twilight spoke.

"But Fluttershy, you have a wonderful talent dealing with all kinds of animals."

"Yes because they're not dragons."

"Oh come on! We've seen you walk right up to a horrible manticore like it was nothing." Said Dash.

"Yes because he wasn't a dragon."

"To be fair dragons are more monsters than animals." Said Luna.

"Not helping." Said Dash.

"Sorry."

"Spike and Ancient Fairy Dragon are dragons." Pinkie reminded. "You're not scared of them."

"Yes, because Spike's not a huge, gigantic, terrifying, enormous, teeth-gnashing, sharp-scale having, horn-wearing, smoke-snoring, could eat a pony in one bite, totally all grown-up dragon!" Said Fluttershy. "And Ancient Fairy Dragon is the beloved guardian of Equestria, that watches over us and keeps us safe, who's kind, caring, beautiful, and is one of the few things that makes me feel safe at night."

Suddenly they heard another dragon snore and Fluttershy got scared again.

"But if you're so scared of dragons why didn't you say something before we came all the way up here?" Twilight asked.

"I was afraid to." Answered Fluttershy.

"Ugh."

"Fluttershy, forgive me for asking, but, did you ever have a bad experience with dragons?" Luna wondered.

"Yes." Admitted Fluttershy. "I was almost eaten by one when I was a filly."

"Well that explains a lot." Said Dash.

"All of us are scared of that dragon." Said AJ.

"I'm not." Said Dash.

"Not helping." Said Luna.

"Almost all of us." Said AJ. "But we've got a job to do."

"And we've got each other." Said Luna.

"That's right." Said AJ. "So get in there with Twilight and show her what you're made of."

"I-I-I." Fluttershy stuttered. "Just can't." She said before walking away.

"Oh Fluttershy."

Soon Twilight walked into the cave.

"I'm going in. He probably just doesn't realize what he's doing right?"

The others tried to be supportive but it didn't sound so well.

Twilight then approached the large, red dragon who was sleeping on a pile of treasure.

"Um excuse me Mr. Dragon." Said Twilight.

"Oh, good, you're awake. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Twilight-" But then the dragon breathed it's bad breath on her. "Ugh Sparkle."

"And my friends and I are residents here in Equestria. Ponyville, to be exact." She explained. "We've come here to ask that you find another spot to take your nap." Twilight requested. "It's just that you seem to be doing an awful lot of snoring, and every time you do you send out a terrible cloud of smoke." Twight's point was proven when the dragon breathed smoke on her causing her to cough. "Equestria simply can't survive a hundred years in a dark haze. You understand, don't you?"

The dragon then woke up.

"So you'll find another place to sleep?" She asked. But the dragon just went back to sleep. He breathed more smoke making Twilight and the others cough.

"So much for..." Dash coughed. "Persuading him."

"Now what?" Asked Luna.

Rarity then cleared her throat. "Obviously, this situation just calls for a little pony charm. Allow me, girls." She said before walking into the cave.

She woke up the dragon. "I'm so sorry to interrupt, but I couldn't possibly head back home without mentioning what handsome scales you have. And those scales have to be hidden away in some silly cave for a hundred years?"

The dragon woke up flattered.

"Personally, I think you should skip the snoozing and be out there, showing them off." Said Rarity.

The dragon looked convinced. "Hmm, obviously, "I would be more than happy to keep an eye on your jewels while you're gone."

This made the dragon mad. He angrily swiped the treasure and roared at Rarity. She got out of the cave.

"I was this close to getting that diamond." Complained Rarity.

"You mean getting rid of that dragon." Said Twilight.

"Uh, yeah, sure."

Suddenly they heard a party horn.

"What in tarnation?" Asked AJ.

They saw Pinkie Pie dressed all goofy.

"Darling you look ridiculous." Said Rarity.

"Exactly." Said Pinkie. "Sharing a laugh is a sure-fire way to get someone on your side." Said Pinkie before going in the cave. "Hi." But then they heard loud, crashing noise.

Pinkie came out a little messed up. "Apparently he doesn't like laughing, hehe, or sharing."

Dash had had enough. "All right, that's it. We tried persuasion, charm... Whatever it is Pinkie Pie does." Pinke blew her horn again.

"It's time to stop wasting time." Said Rainbow. "I'm going in." She flew in real fast.

"Rainbow no." Said Twilight, but it was too late.

"Get out!" Yelled Dash before kicking him in the snout. This made the dragon sneeze smoke, but more importantly, mad.

"Hehe. Sorry."

The dragon then tossed her out and caused her to roll into her friends like a bowling ball with bowling pins. The dragon then breathed smoke on them causing them to hit against a rock causing it to shatter. Fluttershy was hiding behind it and saw this. "How dare you." She said quietly. The dragon stared at her. She stared back.

"How dare you! Listen here, mister. Just because you're big doesn't mean you get to be a bully! You may have huge teeth, and sharp scales, and snore smoke, and breathe fire. But you do not-I repeat-you do not. Hurt! My! Friends!" Fluttershy yelled. "You got that!"

The dragon looked sad.

"Well?"

"But the rainbow one kicked me." Said the dragon.

"And I am very sorry about that." Said Fluttershy. "But you're bigger than she is, and you should know better." She said. "You should also know better than to take a nap where your snoring can become a health hazard to other creatures."

"But I-"

"Don't you 'but I' me, mister. Now what do you have to say for yourself?" Flutteshy asked. The dragon didn't answer. "I said, what do you have to say for yourself?"

The dragon started crying so Fluttershy comforted him.

"There, there. No need to cry." She assured. "You're not a bad dragon, you just made a bad decision." She said. "Now go pack your things. You just need to find a new place to sleep. That's all." The dragon agreed and flew away.

Everyone cheered.

"You did it." Said Twilight. "I knew you could do it."

"I'm so proud of you Fluttershy." Said Luna hugging her.

Later back in Ponyville with the dragon gone the Pegasi cleared all the smoke.

Back at the library, Spike was chasing Angel. "I said come back here." Said Spike before catching him. How does Fluttershy put up with you furry little things?" He asked before Twilight came in.

"Spike take a letter." She said.

Spike sighed in relief. "With pleasure."

"Dear Princess Celestia, I am happy to report that the dragon has departed our fair country, and that it was my good friend, Fluttershy, who convinced him to go. This adventure has taught me to never lose faith in your friends. They can be an amazing source of strength, and can help you overcome even your greatest fears. Always your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle."

Suddenly Luna called to Twilight. "Twilight you gotta come see this!"

Twilight went to the balcony to see the others watching Rainbow Dash bouncing her ball.

"She's just five away from a new pony record." Said AJ.

"Three hundred forty-seven. Three hundred forty-eight..." But she then heard a roar. "Dragon!" Dash shouted before stiffening up and falling over with her hooves in the air.

The others laughed.

"Why are you laughing?" Asked Rainbow. "That awful dragon is back."

But it turns out the roar came from Pinkie Pie. "Rawr!"

"Pinkie Pie you scared me." Said Dash before realizing. "I mean you broke my concentration."

"It's okay Rainbow Dash." Said Fluttershy. "Not everypony can be as brave as me." Said Fluttershy,

But then Dash blew a falling leaf away from herslef and it landed on Fluttershy.

She screamed before stiffening up and falling over with her hooves in the air.

The others laughed at this.

Author's Note: So I bet some people are wondering when the next duel will happen. I'm sorry but there won't be another duel during the season one episodes. Not because I don't wanna include any but because there aren't that many villains in season one. But as the story progresses there will be more duels and they'll be worth the wait. Also If you haven't already watched My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic I recommend watching it before reading this.
