It was well-known that Perry was generally a light sleeper. It was also believed that Perry liked to sleep half the day, which was not true, but he couldn't easily disprove it without blowing his cover. Yet even when he was sleep-deprived, his agent training still had him easily waking up when there was any disturbance.

So on the morning of July 11, he woke up swiftly to the sound of his bedroom door being opened and was alert enough to block the soft projectile being thrown right at his face before it hit him.

Wait a second, soft? That didn't seem dangerous.

Sitting up in his bed, Perry felt around with his right hand for the object as he also felt around for his glasses on the nightstand with his other hand. His far-sighted vision was very blurry without his glasses or contacts in, and since Perry's room was also fairly dark he couldn't see who the intruder–intruders?-was, but he did have his suspicions. Just as he located his glasses, he heard a giggle that confirmed his suspicions.

"Get up, Perry!" Phineas exclaimed gleefully as Perry placed his glasses on his face. He instantly regretted doing so, as Ferb had apparently walked over to his window and decided that exact moment to throw open the black-out curtains. "It's Candace's birthday!"

"Uh-huh," Perry mumbled affirmatively through the pillow he had hurriedly covered his face with from the onslaught of light. Coincidentally he realized it was the same pillow they had thrown at him initially.

"And Ferb and I could use your help!" Phineas added, which got Perry to reluctantly remove the pillow from his face. It was still too bright, but he was slowly adjusting to it. Now that he had, he saw that his brothers were already dressed, which meant they were ready to start the day.

"With what?" he asked.

Phineas and Ferb bounced onto his bed as Phineas said, "Well, you remember the gorilla in the cake idea last year?"

Perry winced, "Yes." Unfortunately, Perry had had an early mission that day, or else he would have dissuaded them from that terrible idea.

"We wanted to do something to make up for it, but we can't seem to figure out what she'd like," Phineas explained. "It's gotta be something big."

"Like Mount Rushmore big or something?" Perry asked sleepily. He had no idea where the idea of Mount Rushmore came from in his mind, though he vaguely remembered dreaming about protecting some president.

"Mount Rushmore! That's perfect!" Phineas exclaimed. "Ferb, we could sculpt Candace's face into Mount Rushmore!"

"Uhhh, you'll have to check with Mom and Dad," Perry pointed out, trying to backtrack. He was pretty sure that changing a national monument so drastically was illegal. Hopefully, Mom and Dad wouldn't want to take Candace to Mount Rushmore. "But maybe something like that, yeah, I'm sure she'd like."

Satisfied he had helped them, Perry planted his face back into the pillow he was still holding in his arms.

"Perry, that's my pillow!" Phineas protested lightheartedly, tugging on it hard trying to free it from Perry's grip.

"Nope," Perry playfully shook his head. "It's mine now!"

Phineas reached up and tickled a specific part of Perry's cheek, which they had discovered a couple of years ago activated an involuntary reflex of him kicking his leg up. They really didn't know exactly how it worked. Losing his balance, Perry fell over onto the bed and lost his grip on the pillow just enough that Phineas was able to snatch it. With the pillow in tow, Phineas ran out of the room, giggling as he went.

"Get back here!" Perry called out, climbing out of bed and snatching one of his own pillows, chasing after his youngest brother. It was a good thing Candace was such a deep sleeper, and it looked like Mom and Dad were already up and downstairs.

"Ferb, you've gotta help me!" Phineas pleaded dramatically as he ran downstairs with Perry right at his heels. Perry turned to look back and saw that Ferb was following them with another one of Perry's pillows. Ferb could easily have thrown it at Perry, but either he didn't want to risk Perry falling down the stairs or he didn't intend to throw it at him at all.

Phineas tried to seek refuge in the living room, but Perry quickly dashed that hope, catching up to him and lobbing him with the pillow. Phineas retaliated with his own pillow, only to get hit in the face with a flying pillow from Ferb.

"Et tu, Ferb?" Phineas asked, putting his hand over his heart dramatically.

"You did start it," Ferb explained. Perry gave him a high-five in response.

Phineas then grabbed a bunch of pillows off of the couch and launched them at the two brothers. They deflected a few of them, and even managed to grab a couple of them.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" Perry pointed out. "We Fletchers are known for our pillow hurling dexterity!"

Just then, Dad entered the living room to witness the scene of Phineas getting pelted with pillows.

"Dad, help me!" Phineas tried pleading again. Dad took pity on the red-head and immediately started to throw pillows at Perry and Ferb. Before long, Phineas and Ferb went down in a fit of giggles while Perry eventually conceded defeat against Dad for this pillow battle.

"Looks like you're having fun," Mom laughed as she entered the messy living room. "I hope you boys remembered it's your sister's birthday!"

"Yeah, Mom, we couldn't forget it's Candace's birthday!" Phineas eagerly answered. "Ferb and I were thinking maybe she'd like to go to Mount Rushmore."

"Oh, that's a splendid idea!" Mom agreed, which was not what Perry wanted. Oh well, Candace would probably veto it when she found out. "Well, if we're going to go to Mount Rushmore, we better get going. I wonder if your playing managed to wake Candace up. Perry, would you go see if she's up yet and if not wake her up?"

"Sure," Perry accepted. "Especially since I don't think Candace would appreciate being woken up like how I was as much as I did." He added a touch of sarcasm at the end, but of course Phineas didn't notice that.

"And Phineas and Ferb, will you clean up all the pillows?" Mom asked the younger boys.

"Yeah, Mom!" Phineas agreed, and the two boys immediately started gathering all of the pillows up. Perry headed upstairs and quickly changed, before grabbing his gift for Candace and heading back into the hallway to her door. It didn't seem like she'd woken up yet.

A/N: The next extra scene will be for The Magnificent Few, so the next few chapters will just be episodes.
