As was a regular occurrence during the summer, Perry, Phineas and Ferb sat out in the backyard under the shade of the tree with a radio.
"So, guys, what should we do today?" Phineas started. "I mean, besides Perry going to work."
Perry shrugged. It could hardly be helped.
Suddenly and loudly, they heard what sounded like a race car in the distance.
Phineas rushed over to the fence, curiously peeking over, "What is that wonderful noise?"
"Sounds like the Jefferson County Motor Speedway," Perry answered.
"Awesome!" Phineas got down from the fence. "Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today!"
They rushed to the garage and immediately started work on turning Mom's car into a race car. Phineas and Ferb focused on the engine while Perry worked towards the back of the car, more out of sight.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MOM'S CAR?!" Candace yelled into the garage.
While Perry stayed working behind the car, Phineas and Ferb popped out of the hood and Phineas answered, "We tricked it out!"
"You don't even know how to drive," Candace pointed out.
"Well, duh!" Phineas replied. "That's why Ferb built this remote."
"Oh, you are so busted," Candace grinned, before running off and opening various doors. "Mom! Mom! Mom!" After an unfruitful search, she returned to the garage to ask, "Um, where's Mom?"
"She's playing bridge at Mrs. Garcia-Shapiro's," Phineas pointed his thumb over his shoulder, even though that wasn't the correct direction of the Garcia-Shapiros.
As Candace left, Ferb finished shoving the new engine in and shut the hood. Perry was pretty sure Candace hadn't even noticed that he was in the garage working on the car too.
"Cool! Let's test it out!" Phineas exclaimed.
Upon opening the garage door, the three boys walked out to the front lawn and sat down, Ferb holding the remote. They could see that Candace had just made it to the Garcia-Shapiro front door, ringing the bell.
Meanwhile, Perry was trying to figure out how to keep Phineas and Ferb out of trouble. If Mom saw them with the car tricked out and the remote, she'd be mad for sure. Not that Perry wanted them to be going behind her back all the time, but he hoped to ease her into his brothers' inventions compared to going in cold turkey. He decided that when Mom was coming out he'd ask to take a turn with the remote and let it sit out of sight or something.
As the boys raced the car back and forth on the street, Perry watched as Mrs. Garcia-Shapiro greeted Candace. Thankfully Vivian could be a talker. The car racing by repeatedly kept messing up Phineas and Ferb's hair, at some point swapping their hair and then swapping it back, but curiously it did nothing to Perry's hair.
"Hey Ferb, what's the red button for?" Phineas asked, just as Perry was about to take the remote. He was wondering that too, so he watched as Ferb held the remote out to Phineas for him to push the red button. An alarm went off and then the car went shooting straight up into the air just a second before Mom appeared.
Well, that worked out well.
"Hi, Mom!" Phineas called across the street as he and Perry waved.
"Hi, boys!" Mom waved back before closing the door on a stunned Candace.
Suddenly, the car landed back on the road somehow in one piece.
"Good thing we beefed up the suspension," Phineas declared.
Now that Candace's first busting attempt hadn't worked, Perry predicted that it would probably take her a little while before she got another chance, which by then Phineas and Ferb should be at the Swamp Oil 500. Not that Perry would get to see, as he had to go to work.
Perry changed his outfit and pulled out a remote to open the secret compartment and…
Well, you know the rest. He'd been doing the exact same lair entrance the past two times. At this point it was starting to get redundant. Perry didn't even bother writing down notes this time during his briefing; Doofenshmirtz purchased a blimp, so what. The tree opening up for his hovercar was new though, since OWCA had replaced the top of the tree that had gotten blown up after the rollercoaster.
(LATER)
While Perry was trapped underneath a glass container in the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated blimp, he about jumped as he randomly heard what sounded like Candace's scream. It was almost certainly hers, as he'd frequently witnessed over his life her extremely high pitch that could travel a vast distance and had shattered glass on occasion before.
Hang on, that gave him an idea.
"Already they fear me! Listen to their screams, huh?" Doofenshmirtz said. "Imagine the mayhem once my deflatinator ray is fully charged." He then leaned closer to the mouse on the wheel and encouraged it, "Run, run like the wind, my little indentured rodent, and I will give you some cheese!" He walked over to the fridge to keep his promise, muttering, "Heh. I know I have some around here somewhere."
Acting quickly while Doofenshmirtz was in range, Perry pulled out his emergency cheese kit. As for why he had an emergency cheese kit? Well, it was an optional kit for the agents, and Perry really liked cheese, so naturally he had to have it. Best to be prepared; you never knew when you would need cheese. Now the real question was how it stayed good in the case.
Perry pulled the crossbow out of the kit and selected the stinky cheese, loading it up and aiming.
"There used to be some roquefort in the back here," Doof kept talking while Perry shot the cheese straight at him. "I don't…" Just as planned, the cheese fell into Doof's pants, and the mouse smelled it and scampered over as well into his pants. "Hmm? AIEE! HEE-HEE-HEE-HEE-AIEEEEEEE! " he screamed shrilly. So shrill was it, in fact, that it shattered the glass of Perry's trap. Perry supposed he could have broken the glass himself, but what was the fun in that?
Now freed, Perry leaped forward and kicked Doof, who gave an "Aah!", sending him straight into the deflate-inator and activating it again. "Oof!" Somehow, the ray must have hit a reflective surface, as the blimp swiftly started deflating and flailing about in the sky.
"Hmm, I suppose I should have seen that coming," Doof commented.
Before long, the blimp hit the broadcasting tower at the Jefferson County Motor Speedway, and Doof jumped out and into Mom's modified car. Great, now Perry would have to retrieve that rather than just letting Doof run.
Perry exited the blimp from another window and quickly found the remote laying alone on the ground. Pulling out a remote, he pressed a button to summon his hovercar to him and hopped in. In the air, he quickly scanned the surrounding area and found Doofenshmirtz.
Jumping out of the hovercar, Perry landed squarely on the hood of the car and pulled out the remote. Immediately upon seeing him, Doof started screaming. Perry pushed the sticks on the remote, regretting that he hadn't tried out the controls earlier that day to get a feel for them. The car swerved too hard right into a mailbox, and then its back end hit a pole. Fortunately, it didn't appear to dent the car in any way, which he counted as a blessing. As they were swerving, they pulled right into a car wash.
Doof jumped out of the car to tackle Perry, who jumped up to the roof of the car. Doof chased him up there with a squeegee, swinging it at Perry. As the car kept moving forward, Perry noticed a roller coming too close and kneeled down on the roof of the car, trying to flatten himself as much as possible while covering his head with his hands. He heard Doof's scream as the roller sent him flying through the roof, but Perry narrowly managed to avoid it.
Sliding back down to the hood, Perry used the remote to pull out of the car wash.
Mission accomplished.
Perry stood up on the hood and looked into the sky. Stepping forward, he realized too late that he'd hit with his foot the red button on the remote as it started beeping. As the car went flying into space, Perry flattened himself against the hood and held on as best he could for dear life.
After what seemed like an eternity, the car landed back on the ground. Thank God for Phineas and Ferb beefing up the suspension. Perry sat back up on the hood and carefully pulled the remote into his lap. Now that the car was clean, he needed to hurry and get it back to the garage. He could drive it from the steering wheel, but this would be faster.
And it was a good thing he'd chosen to use the remote, as Perry had barely pulled the car into the garage, gotten off the hood and changed his outfit when Candace slammed the inner garage door open and shouted, "See, Mom! Look! Look! Look! I told you!"
While Candace was still not paying any attention to him, Perry silently walked over to the laundry area and discretely hid the remote just as Mom glanced over at the car.
Mom gasped, "But…who did this?"
"Phineas and Ferb," Candace stated, still not looking at the actual car or Perry. He had to restrain himself from laughing.
"You mean–"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah!"
"They–"
"Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh!"
"They washed my car?!" Mom asked, overjoyed. Well, technically it had been Perry, but he was willing to give the credit to his brothers.
"Yes! No. What?" Confused, Candace finally looked at the car and subsequently Perry. He decided not to say anything and simply smiled at them before walking out of the garage to the backyard.
"It's beautiful!" Mom complimented. "I gotta admit; I thought you were exaggerating a bit, but this is really worth getting excited about!"
Phineas and Ferb came through the front door just then, Phineas announcing, "Hi, Mom, we're home!"
"Hey, boys!" Mom greeted in return. "I saw what you did today!"
"Yeah? How'd you like it?" Phineas asked as he and Ferb carried the trophy into the backyard. Perry had no idea what they were planning on doing with it out in the yard, but at least nobody else saw it yet.
"I loved it!" she exclaimed. "Now, who wants some snacks?"
Well, Perry definitely did.
"Thanks, Mom!" Phineas said from outside.
As Perry walked back into the house, he heard Mom say to Candace, "Honey, close your mouth."
He glanced over and sure enough his sister was still staring at the car with a shocked expression. He did feel bad that Mom never believed her, but he didn't want Phineas and Ferb in trouble either, so he just let her be.
He would have to go back out to the garage at some point though, to retrieve the remote to hide it and also possibly remove the battery from it.
A/N: The part where Perry walks in front of the clean car chattering still cracks me up lol.
