Chapter 3 (Ascension): Strange Happenings part 2

The Rodríguez house

Alexia was enjoying sleeping peacefully in her bed until she got startled and nearly had a heart attack from a loud alarm noise which made Alexia confused since she doesn't usually use alarms because how they scare her.

"Good morning, Alexia." An overly cheerful female voice said, and Alexia knew whose voice that was.

Alexia reluctantly opened her eyes after a bit and saw a smug looking Cortana bending over to look at her. Unlike yesterday since she came from her brother's phone which made her made her look small but since Alexia could see that there was some sort of projector (Maybe her brother's new invention or something) that was projecting her as it was linked laptop which Alexia guess Cortana downloaded herself into, Cortana looked to be human size with her looking about an inch and a half to two inches taller than her.

Alexia remembered the first time that she saw her in a physical form and that it almost made her jump out of her skin.

Alexia rolled her eyes tiredly at being woken up, "Enjoying yourself Cortana?" She rhetorically asked already knowing the answer.

"Maybe a tiny bit." Cortana said with slight smile on her face before it turned genuine, "Though it's nice to see that you're looking a lot better then you were last night." She said kindly.

Alexia knew instantly that Cortana was right because almost instantly she felt like she could run a marathon or something, she didn't feel stiff or anything and then soon after she went from feeling like she was dead exhausted to now feeling like she full of energy and was raring to go.

'This is the best I felt since the school field trip!' She thought very happily to herself.

Then she remembered something.

"Cortana what are you doing here and not with Carlos?" Alexia asked confused as she was beginning to stretch as she sat up from her bed.

"He's currently gone out, to collect some things and to meet up with old friends, so he placed me in here to wake you up in case you overslept." Cortana told her as she cross her arms underneath her chest.

Alexia just sighs, "Guess that means it's just us two in the house." She said more to herself then she did to Cortana.

She knew that since, her father was once again out early because of work, the twins were at their friends house since they always goes to friends house before going to school and Leo was at a morning study group in the library that was not far away from where they lived.

Meaning that she and Cortana were on their own.

"You make it sound like it's a bad thing." Cortana said with a playful glare.

Alexia would stand up from her bed and stretch her back a bit before responding, "Want an honest answer?" She asked with a grin.

"Hey!"

Alexia giggled to herself as she went to the door as she placed her hand on the door to open it by turning the handle and then opening it.

And she did… by tearing the door of its hinges and was now holding it up using her right hand.

Alexia looked shocked as this was not normal.

And what made things weirder was that the door felt like a paper weight to her like this door wasn't heavy at all. And that wasn't normal because that was a heavy oak door that weighed close to one hundred pounds if her maths was right.

Alexia looked back at Cortana who looked just as shocked as she was.

"You're seeing this right?" Alexia asked hesitantly.

Cortana nodded, "I ran a diagnosis on my systems, and everything appears to be working fine." She said sounding just as shocked as she was.

Alexia gently placed the door down to side next to her closet before looking at her shaking hands and breathing very erratically as she looked at Cortana in fear.

"Cortana what's happening to me…?" Alexia asked looking scared at Cortana.

Cortana could tell that Alexia looked like she was going to have a panic attack, tried to calm the situation down, "Alexia, just take deep breaths, try to stay calm." Cortana tried to tell Alexia to help her calm down.

Unfortunately it had the opposite effect.

"Calm down!? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CALM DOWN WHEN I'M BASICALLY A FREAK WITH INHUMAN STRENGTH!" Alexia screamed at Cortana in a fit of panic.

What she didn't notice while screaming was that her arms veins were turning purple and that her hands were building up some kind of purple energy inside of it which was getting stronger and stronger.

Cortana caught it however, "Alexia watch out!" She warned but she was too late.

A massive blast of purple energy blasted out of Alexia's hands which sent her flying into the ceiling of her room crashing right into it headfirst before she fell hard into her bed.

"Oh my god! Alexia are you alright!?" Cortana asked Alexia concerned.

Alexia groaned a bit, but she didn't feel like she injured anything. In fact she didn't even felt hurt at all it was like she bounced of a wall in a bouncy castle or something.

"I'm fine Cortana." Alexia said as she stood up and shook the debris of her, looking relatively unhurt.

"That's good." Cortana breathed a sigh of relief.

The whole crashing into the ceiling on her room did do her some good in calming her down but there was still the problem…

"How am I supposed to go to school like this?" Alexia said to herself out loud in panic.

She couldn't risk going to school like this but at the same time if she didn't go to school then that would lead to her getting into trouble with her father and then he might end up seeing like this and that could make everything worst.

And how was she going to explain this at school, with her apparent super strength and whatever kind of power came out of her hands.

Alexia then went and placed her hand on her desk that was near her bed, but she ended up accidentally breaking it in half causing her to let out a scream in shock.

"How am I going to be able to go to school like this?" Alexia turned to asked Cortana in a scared tone.

Cortana's system was running overtime in order for her to compute what on earth was going on. First Alexia magically has inhuman strength to lift up a very heavy oak door that lifting it up one handed and holding it up like its just a stick isn't possible especially with the fact that Alexia wasn't a very athletic person. And then Alexia can suddenly had some sort of purple energy blast that sent her flying and what should have caused some injuries, Alexia almost shrugged it off like it was nothing which shouldn't be possible, she would at least need an icepack.

However Cortana could tell that Alexia was panicking again and that she had to find a way to calm her down.

"Alexia just take deep breaths, in and out." Alexia followed Cortana instructions and soon after began to calm down, "Good, we're figure something out Alexia." Cortana said reassuringly.

Alexia for the first time since this mess started smiled, "Thanks Cortana."

A bit of time later

Alexia was beginning to get used to being able to use her now found abilities somewhat, but it was a struggle. Mostly because there was times where she would be able to hold things without them breaking and their were others where she would accidently crush things in her hands, or a blast of purple energy would emerge, and she would destroy whatever it aimed at.

Alexia was currently relaxing on the sofa.

"Alexia, it's getting to the time for you to get change to go to school." Cortana told her.

Alexia sighed nervously as she knew that she would have to but how were people going to react if they saw these new abilities of her.

They'd flip!

"Alexia, it'll be fine, I mean look, you've gotten a bit better at controlling it." Cortana said trying to cheer up Alexia.

Alexia bit her bottom lip and scratches her arm nervously as she response with, "I know but…"

"Actually I have an idea." Cortana said.

Alexia looked at Cortana and raised an eyebrow, "What's the idea?"

A few hours later

'If it wasn't for the fact that Cortana was digital, I would either want to kill her for this idea or kiss her.' Alexia thought annoyed to herself.

Cortana's plan was to download herself into Alexia's phone so that she could help monitor her during the day. Originally Alexia said no because that would risk her getting into trouble with Carlos because he doesn't trust her with Cortana in public places like school mostly because she and Cortana once pranked him by releasing embarrassing videos of him singing in the shower.

Best believe he didn't forgive her for about a few weeks afterwards.

Alexia right now was currently in maths which would have been her favourite subject had it not been for the fact that Mr Gonzalez was her maths teacher. And to make matters worse for her, he was also teaching her and the rest of the about angles and other complicated formulas and he was teaching it in a way where he might as well be speaking in Chinese to them or something.

Though in fairness to him that was more because she was having to concentrate really hard in making sure that she didn't accidently break her pen, or desk, or classroom door, or basically the entire classroom.

There was some close calls like when she had accidentally broke her pen in her first lesson and that she nearly accidently blasted one of the students by accident when they bumped into her and made a comment about her but thankfully Cortana managed to calm her down before she could do anything to them.

When it came to the whole hearing other people's mind think in before underneath her desk in her left-hand Alexia managed to grab a fidget toy which she successfully managed to keep hidden underneath her table as it was successfully managing to keep her from fully losing control of her powers.

Alexia also managed to place an earpiece into one of her ears and hide it behind her hair from which Cortana would talk to her in.

Though it was still a bit of a struggle Alexia was somewhat managing to keep control though it was becoming harder and harder as the day gone by.

'Just this lesson and one more, then that's it.' Alexia thought hopeful to hold out for her last two lessons.

Alexia turned her gaze and saw both García sisters with Chloe having her the right side of her forehead taped up and Carla having a very red-looking nose that looked like it had some blood come out of it not too long ago and a black right eye.

Alexia felt awful over what had happened to the both of them especially as she could feel Chloe glaring at her every time, she runs into her. Alexia wanted to apologise but the words just wouldn't come out either out of guilt or her being afraid, she didn't know but she felt awful over what happened and it was getting worst the longer it took to apologise.

"Las Matemáticas son siempre lo peor." (Maths is always the worst.)

"¿Por qué siempre me tocan los peores profesores de matemáticas?" (Why am I always placed with the worst maths teachers?)"

Alexia began to take deep breaths in and out along with squeezing her fidget toy harder.

"Deep breaths in and out Alexia. Just keep focus on class, not on the voices." Cortana instructed Alexia in her earpiece.

Alexia followed her instructions until…

"Hombre esta clase es aburrida ¿puedo irme a casa ahora? (Man this class is boring; can I go home now?)"

'Wait I don't know anyone in this class who sounds like that.' Alexia though confused to herself.

"Odio la ciencia ¡es tan aburrida! (I hate science, it´s so boring!)"

"Tengo tanto sueño… (I´m so sleepy…)"

Alexia was confused why was she hearing voices from people not from her class, until a thought came to mind.

'What if my ability to read peoples minds is becoming strong and what if I'm beginning read the mind of everyone in the school, not just my class!' Alexia thought in panic.

And as if in a cruel sense of fate that's what appeared to have happened.

"¿Por qué estoy aprendiendo inglés? Siempre puedo contratar a un traductor. (Why am I learning English? I can always just hire a translator.)

"¿Por què el profesor tiene que ser tan duro? (Why does teach have to be such a hard ass?)"

"¡estúpido bolígrafo que eliges ahora para quedarte sin tinta! (Stupid pen you choose now to run out of ink!)"

Alexia was hearing more and more voices in her head, and it was becoming to the point where she was almost hyperventilating.

"Alexia just listen to my voice." Cortana tried to soothe Alexia was struggling to keep control of her breath.

Alexia was struggling more and more to keep control of her breath, "I'm t-t-tying b-but…" Alexia was trying to keep control her breath until she felt something hit her skirt.

Alexia looks at her skirt and saw blue blob on her sigh which made her have to look to see if her pen was leaking but then she felt some sort liquid coming out of noise which made Alexia think that her nose was bleeding.

She went to go wipe it but when she saw next shocked her…

Instead of seeing red, she was seeing blue.

And when she saw that more blood was coming out of her nose and that her blood that was coming out as blue blood.

Alexia when she gasp, thankfully her gasp wasn't heard by anyone.

'H-how!?' Alexia thought to herself scared.

How was her blood blue? Humans blood isn't meant to be blue; it's meant to be red!

Alexia was beginning to panic more and more which made things worst especially since she could see that left arm was beginning to glow dark purple and she could feel the power inside of her becoming harder to keep in.

'I need to get out!' Alexia thought in panic before placing her left hand over face to make sure that no one can see her blue blood as well as lowering herself so no one can see that left her arm is glowing as she raised her right arm.

"Profe, me sangra la nariz ¿Puedo ir al baño a limpiarme? (Teach my nose is bleeding. Can I go to the toilets to clean myself up?)" Alexia asked.

Alexia knew that Hemophobia as he hated seeing blood, as yesterday after the whole incident with Chloe when Mr Gonzalez was looked a tiny bit pale.

Mr Gonzalez rolled his eyes but looked like he wanted to get her out of his class, "Siempre hay algo Alexia. ¡Bien, pero date prisa y no esperes ponerte al día! (Always something with you Alexia. Fine but hurry up and don´t expect to get you caught up to speed!)" He ordered.

For once Alexia was thankful not only did, but she also sat near the back of the classroom and that she sat right next to door which she used as she quickly put her fidget toy into her bag as well as her phone while she could hear telling Cortana to stay calm, and she made sure that her right hand was covering the lower half of her face to make sure that no one can see that her blood is apparently being blue now as she rushed out of the class.

Alexia as she rushed out of her class, she saw her brother in the school's corridor.

Alexia immediately rushed towards him and grabbed his wrist which caused him to looked at her shocked.

"Alexia what are you-" "Leo, come with me." Alexia cut off Leo as she dragged him with her.

Leo was shocked at how strong her grip was as Alexia was never this strong and despite being slightly taller then him, she was never able to drag him like she was now.

"Alexia what's going on?" Leo asked confused on what was going on with his older sister.

"Leo te prometo que te lo explicaré más tarde, pero ahora cállate y sígueme (Leo I promise I'll explain later but right now just shut up and follow me.)" Alexia said in Spanish which shocked Leo since, first of all Alexia doesn't usually talk to people like that and two, she also speaks to him in Spanish if it's serious or if there at a family dinner or something.

Alexia was rushing both herself and Leo towards the female toilets and while Leo tried to tell Aleixa that he was not going into the female bathroom, Alexia responded by opening the door with her right hand while her left hand was still covering the lower half of her face.

After opening the door Alexia pushed Leo into the toilets which nearly sent him flying into the wall that was in the over side of where both Rodríguez siblings were. This shocked Leo because how was Alexia able to push him this far into the toilets.

Alexia then rushed in herself and when she went and closed the doors herself but when she closed it she accidentally ripped out the door's handle, which caused her to growl in annoyance about the whole situation as she slammed the handle into the floor which caused the thing to split into half.

Leo was shocked when he saw his sister ripped the door's handle and now being broken in half, but he was shocked when he saw the state of his sister.

"Alexia what's going on?" Leo asked both concerned and confused.

Leo then saw Alexia place her phone on the sink as he then heard familiar voice, "Alexia, it'll be alright, we'll figure something out."

Leo recognise that voice, "Wait a sec… CORTANA!?" Leo was shocked especially when he saw a small hologram of Cortana appear out of Alexia's phone looking sheepish.

"Hey Leo." She said sheepishly.

"W-what are you doing here!?" Leo asked in complete confusion on why Cortana would be with Alexia and not Carlos.

"Alexia's been having… trouble." Cortana responded.

"What kind of 'trouble?" Leo asked but got no response as Cortana faced towards Alexia.

"Cortana, you should tell him." Cortana advise to Alexia who kept her left hand covering the lower half of face.

Leo then gently placed his hand on Alexia's shoulder before telling her, "Alexia, if you keep it bottled in, your going to hurt yourself, please just tell me what's wrong."

Alexia looked at Leo like she was a scared animal before lowering her left hand and what Leo saw was shocking as he saw his sister's blood… and it was blue.

"I-I-I d-don't understand humans, don't bleed blue. S-so w-why am I…?" Alexia was saying teary eyes as she was about to have a meltdown and burst into tears any second.

Leo despite being shocked knew that his big sister needed him, "It doesn't change anything Alexia. Your still you." He said gently.

"O-of course it c-changes things, I-I'm freak!" Alexia said with tears now coming out of her.

"Just because your blood's blue, it doesn't mean that you're a freak." Leo tried to explain to Alexia.

"Of course I'm a freak!" Alexia shouted which caused a massive blast of amethyst purple energy emerged from her which sent Leo flying into a wall causing a dent in it and making him groan in pain.

"O-oh my god, LEO!" Alexia rushed towards her little brother, "O-oh my god, L-Leo. I-I'm s-so so s-sorry." Alexia said while now crying at hurting him.

"I-I'm okay don't worry." Leo said but was trying to hide the pain, so Alexia didn't feel worst.

Unfortunately she could and there was another thing she was sensing…

Fear

"Y-your s-scared of me." Alexia said taking steps away from him.

N-no I'm not-" "Your terrified of me." Alexia said looking now like a wounded animal.

Leo tried to grab her so he could hug her but both his injuries and her moving out of reach prevented that.

Alexia then saw something in the mirror that caught her attention and when she turned to looked at the mirrors and saw somethings that shocked her.

Her arms had had the same amethyst purple veins but now her entire arms were beginning to glow, but what was scaring her eye colour was no longer the grape-coloured purple but the same amethyst purple as her arms. She also saw some kind of viperlike tendrils that had appeared and was almost slivering round her arms which was causing a shiver to run down her spine. The worst thing that caused her to start shaking what that it almost looked like her body was on fire, but it wasn't… she had almost some kind of dark purple flame like energy emerging from her body with it getting more pounced and more powerful by the second.

Just as Alexia was looking at herself suddenly the mirror shattered causing Alexia to let a gasp in shock.

"What's happening to me?" Alexia asked scared of herself.

Cortana who was just watching the whole situation shocked was about to respond until she felt a large amount of tremors, "I'm detecting tremors which are growing stronger. I believe we're having an earthquake." Cortana said alarmed.

Alexia then widen her eyes in relaxation, 'Earthquake?'

Flashback, 2 days ago

"¿Eres uno de esos niños de la excursión del colegio? ¿Por qué no estás con el resto de tus compañeros en la zona de seguridad? (Are you one of those kids in that school field trip? Why are you not with the rest of your classmates in the safety zone?)" The forest ranger asked.

Alexia raised an eyebrow.

"¿Por qué tendría que estar en la zona de seguridad? (Why would i need to be in the safety zone?)" She asked.

The forest ranger looked at her like she just said the most stupid thing that he ever said, "Estás loco o eres estúpido? Acaba de haber un terremoto masivo que no sólo ha causado daños en el bosque ¡sino también en la ciudad! ( Are you crazy or stupid? There was just a massive earthquake that caused not only damage in not just the forest but in the city as well!)"

Alexia looked at him in confusion.

"¿Cómo que hubo un terremoto No sentí nada? (what do you mean there was an earthquake, I didn´t feel anything?)" Alexia asked confused.

The Forest Ranger looked like he wanted to explode at her but chose not to and just sighed, "Mira, olvídalo. Vamos a llevarte de vuelta a tu clase porque tus profesores deben estar muy preocupados. (Look forget it. Let´s just get you back to your class because your teachers must be worried sick.)" He said as he began leading her back to the safety zone.

Present day

It finally clicked in Alexia's head what that guy was on about.

"Leo…?" Alexia said in a scared tone.

Leo was struggling to keep on his feet with the entire ground as he replied, "Yeah?"

"R-remember, about the earthquake that occurred during my fieldtrip?" Alexia asked him.

That confused Leo, "Yeah why-" "It wasn't a normal one." Alexia cut him while she was shaking in fear of herself.

This caused Leo to get more confused, "Alexia what do you mean it wasn't a normal one?"

Alexia looked like she was trying to replay but was struggling before she replayed with something that shocked Leo, "I-I-I caused it." She answered.

This confused Leo, how can a human create an earthquake?

Leo who was moving towards her to try and place a hand on her shoulder, "Alexia calm down there's no way that a human can-"

Unfortunately trying to approach Alexia caused her to freak out, "NO DON'T TOUCH ME!" She screamed in fear as she quickly moved away from her little brother.

However after she moved away from her brother, she unintentionally released a massive blast of some sort of vibration energy from her hands which annihilated the stools that was behind her… and a large portion of the walls as well.

This caused both Leo and Cortana (who was watching the whole thing) to look at the whole thing in shock and disbelieve, meanwhile Alexia just looked not just in shock but also fear and horror.

If she could do this, then what else can she do.

She was unaware that the madness had just began…

And that the truth would soon be revealed."

AN: I'm ending it on a cliffhanger mostly because if I had to continue all the way to where I originally plan to end this then it would take much longer to release this chapter so now the plan is to have what was mean to be the other half of this chapter and what was supposed to be the next chapter and merge them together.

Also next chapter I will also list Alexia's powers next chapter just so you know.
