Banjo and Kazooie flew as fast they possibly could, but the tornado grew bigger and stronger. Kazooie flapped with all her might, but she could feel herself being pulled into the clouds. Kazooie flew out of the backpack, leaving Banjo to fall towards a dense forest below.
"KAZOOIE!!!"
Inside of a small hut in a tiny secluded village Banjo awoke to find himself in a bed.
"Where am I?" asked Banjo, scratching his head "Where's Kazooie?!?"
"Don't worry big bro, she's safe."
Recognizing the voice, Banjo turned around to see his little sister Tootie standing before him in an explorer outfit.
"Tootie?"
"Yep. That's me."
"You've really grown up since the last time I saw you."
"You know it." laughed Tootie.
"So what have you been doing?" asked Banjo.
"I've been exploring. Just like you and Kazooie. Speaking of Kazooie, let me show you what she is."
Tootie exited the hut with Banjo following behind and entered another hut. There Banjo saw Kazooie just waking up.
"Kazooie!"
"Banjo!"
The two friends ran to each other and hugged, happy that the other was alive.
"Tootie? Is that you?" asked Kazooie.
"Certainly is." said Tootie "By the way, why do you look all zombified?"
"It's a long story." answered Banjo.
"Is there any way I can change back to normal?" asked Kazooie.
"The Chief might know."
"Chief?" asked Banjo.
"Yeah, he knows a lot." answered Tootie "I'll take you to him."
Tootie led Banjo and Kazooie outside and to the Chief's hut. Before Banjo and Kazooie stood a meerkat wearing a grass skirt and a headdress.
"Chief?"
"Ah, young Tootie, what brings you here?"
"I come on behalf of a friend." said Tootie, before looking back at Banjo and Kazooie "Go ahead Kazooie."
Banjo walked up to the Chief and Kazooie began to speak.
"I would like to become unzombified." requested Kazooie.
"Then you must complete the tasks." said the Chief.
"What tasks?" asked Kazooie.
"Come, I will show you."
The Chief exited his hut and led Banjo, Kazooie and Tootie to a statue in the middle of the area.
"If you can turn this statue to where faces the mountain, then I will tell you how turn back to normal."
"We're supposed to move that?!?" shuddered Banjo.
"I will be waiting here until you do."
Banjo walked around the statue, searching for some way to move it. The only thing he saw however was three straw baskets laying in front of the statue. Banjo suddenly had an idea. He turned his back to one of the baskets and Kazooie farted out an egg. Banjo did the same to the second and third baskets, making the statue turn until it faced the mountain.
"That was easy." said Banjo.
"Yes, but there are still more trails you must face." said the Chief "Each one harder than the last."
The Chief led Banjo, Kazooie and Tootie to a cave inside of the mountain.
"Complete the trails within and then you will be given what you seek."
"May I go with them?" asked Tootie.
"You can, but only a short ways." answered the Chief "The rest they must do alone."
"Well, Kazooie, here goes nothing." said Banjo, before stepping into the cave.
Inside the cave Banjo, Kazooie and Tootie came upon a room with another puzzle. There were two statues and a flight of stairs beside each. Atop the stairs were two buttons on each wall. Banjo immediately knew what they needed to do.
"I think we need to press those buttons at the same time." said Banjo.
"Why at the same time?" asked Kazooie.
"Because that's what the author wrote."
"Oh."
Banjo walked up the left stairs and Tootie went right. They each pressed the buttons on either side and a door opened.
"Come on Tootie, let's go." said Banjo, jumping down from the stairs.
"Sorry, I'm afraid that's as far as I go with you." said Tootie.
"Aw, darn." frowned Banjo.
"It was great seeing you again Tootie." said Kazooie.
"It was great seeing you as well." said Tootie "Stay safe in here, okay. And do your best."
So Banjo and Kazooie waved goodbye to Tootie as they hurried into the cave, but outside the cave, evil lurked.
"WITCH!!!"
"AHHH!!!"
"What are you doing waiting around out here?!? Follow that bear and bird! NOW!!!"
"Oh no, you see, I have a better plan." said Gruntilda.
"WHAT?!?"
"The top of the mount is where I'll wait. It is there the bear will meet his fate."
"And the bird?"
"I have plans for the bird." laughed Gruntilda, flying to the end of the cave.
