A/N: I'm working on the story that Jillian Kennard gave me so there may be a bit more of a delay on my others but I'm working on all of them as much as possible. The Longest… and Heartache are still alittle behind in plot bunnies, but they will get done no matter what.

Pacey jolted awake his eyes wide and head throbbing. "Oh god."

"Pace." Joey breathed moving next to the bed, one hand grasping his while the other hit his call button. "I swear if you do this to me again, I'm going to kill you."

Her tone was serious, he couldn't figure out what was going on or why he was in a hospital bed. "What happened?"

Joey could feel her heart seizing with fear. "You don't remember?" He took a moment to press rewind on his brain but when nothing came up, he shook his head which just stilled more anxiety in her. "After you opened Dawson's gift you stood up…then fell into the table."

Pacey's eyes bugged his eyes moving rapidly trying to remember anything before that. "Whoa."

"Why were you drinking beers before that?" Joey crossed her arms looking pointedly at her boyfriend.

"I umm…" Pacey sighed rubbing at his eyes, it was then that he noticed the tremor in his hands. "I could feel something bad was gonna happen…I got really anxious…it was stupid."

Joey could see the regret in his eyes, the sorrow that took over his face. "It was very stupid." Sitting on the bed she cupped his cheeks, bringing his eyes to hers. "Next time you feel that way, talk to me…don't just start stealing beers."

"I will." He smiled but his smile dropped as Dr. Tiale walked in a hard look on his face.

"Pacey, I thought we agreed the last time you were here…it would be the last time?"

Pacey turned to Joey shrugging his shoulders half-heartedly. "Oops."

Dr. Tiale snickered, looking through the papers he had in hand. "I was going over your blood work…thankfully you have not relapsed."

"That's…that's good right?" Pacey stuttered with hope as Joey settled next to him on the bed, her hand tightening on his.

Instead of answering the question Dr. Tiale stepped forward eyeing the younger man. "What were you doing before you collapsed?"

Pacey swallowed down his annoyance at the lack of response to his question, sighing. "Opening a present. It was my birthday party…I had also had a few beers before that."

Dr. Tiale could sense Pacey's reluctance in divulging that information but still asked. "Did you have anything to eat before that?"

"Just breakfast…Joey's brother-in-law made it special for me."

"Ok." Dr. Tiale exhaled, straightening his badge and placing the results under his arm. "First off, no skipping meals, your body is still recovering from the loads of chemo you went through, you need to build your strength back up which means no skipping meals. Secondly alcohol is a no no for anyone at this stage but you're also a teenager…"

Dr. Tiale's pointed look reminded him of his father berating him, making Pacey's gaze drop to the bed. "I won't drink anymore, I promise."

"Good." Dr. Tiale smiled slightly, catching Joey's look of concern he added. "Now what actually brought you in here…according to your blood tests you are highly anemic and that coupled with alcohol and the lack of food made you pass out."

"That's treatable though?" Joey asked her voice husky from tears she was withholding.

"Yes very. We are gonna have you stay overnight and receive fluids and a strong iron supplement. Then I'm gonna send you home with a multivitamin and iron supplement to take daily. If after two weeks you are still feeling weak and lightheaded get in here immediately. If anything is off or not normal get back in here. Leukemia is no joke and if left untreated it can be fatal…even more so because a relapse can be worse that the initial diagnosis. So don't wait."

"We won't." Joey said without hesitation her voice stern and serious as her eyes met Pacey's.

"We won't." Pacey agreed, giving Dr. Tiale a nod before he walked out of the room. Leaving Joey and Pacey holding each other close.
