Red glared at Yellow as she stepped on yet another stray twig. She froze,"Sorry."

He turned around silently and continued to lead the other two through the forest.

"What are we doing out here again?" Yellow whispered.

"To visit some friends."

"And they live in the forest?"

Red shushed her,"Just be quiet until we reach. Professor Oak's gonna kill us if he finds us out here."

Yellow rolled her eyes, ducking under a branch,"Well from what I've heard, they'll at least be subtle about it."

As Red gave her another silent glare, Yellow raised her arms in surrender. She went back to following quietly a few seconds later.

"What's the deal with Professor Oak anyway?"

"Whadduya mean?" Blue asked without looking back at her.

"I mean, he must know about these subtle killings right?" Yellow hissed as her arm got caught on the branch. Red turned to her,"You ok?" She nodded her head,"Yeah, just a scratch."

He nodded and turns back around. "To answer your question, yes, he does know."

"Well why doesn't he do something about it? Isn't he a good guy?"

Blue paused, causing Yellow who was behind him to pause too. Red stopped two steps ahead of them.

"I can for sure say that Gramps is a good guy. I can swear my life on it." Yellow cocked her head to try and see Blue's expression but couldn't in the darkness. "But for why he supports-" Blue gestured widely. "All this." He shook his head,"Not even I can tell you why." They continued back on their trail.

The walk carried on for four more minutes before Red and Blue came to a stop. Yellow looked at her surroundings. The place they stopped at didn't look any different from the rest of the forest except for the tree in front of them which had a much larger trunk than the rest.

"Are we there?" She asked.

Blue nodded and gave her a sound of confirmation while Red walked up to the tree. He tapped it. "Guys, we're here and we brought someone new."

A flurry of sudden noise startled Yellow and her eyes widened when Pokémon came out of hiding. When they ran up to her, she fell backwards though that did not deter them from crawling onto her.

Weird noises started annoying her ears and only when Red was telling her to be quiet did Yellow realize it was her own voice.

"Guys, back up. You're overwhelming her."

Red picked up the Ratata resting on her knee while the others moved back on their own. Red gave an apologetic smile,"Sorry, they're not usually like this."

Yellow gulped before standing up and brushing off her clothes. It's good that she wore black pants.

Red watched as Yellow stared at the Pokémon. He honestly couldn't tell if it was in awe or fear.

Yellow's fingers twitched and she finally got her mouth to form words. "I've never seen this many wild Pokémon before..."

Shock then. He could work with that.

"They're really cool huh?" Red scratched the cheek of the Ratata he was holding and it sunk into his arms with a pleased sigh. "But these guys are big babies so they won't hurt you."

"Except this little guy here." Blue gestured to the Oddish in his lap. He rubbed the leaves on its head. "It might seem sweet but it bites. The little menace." The Oddish hadn't even refuted the statement, not even seemingly heard it, too busy enjoying the way Blue rubbed at its head.

Yellow looked back over to Red,"You sure?"

The boy nodded,"Positive. They are pretty excited to meet you too. The only reason they aren't dog piling you now is cause they know how rude it is."

Yellow stared at the Pokémon and noted that yes, they were holding themselves back. Another Ratata on the ground had one paw raised to take a step forward. It twitched every time Yellow shuffled.

She bent down while keeping her gaze on it. She raised her hand to its head. "Can I?"

It answered her question by pushing its head into her palm. Yellow felt her heart warm as she pet it softly.

The other Pokémon took the cue to move a bit closer and she used her other hand to pet them too.

"Nice to meet you all." She smiled.

Yellow gasped as she bumped into someone while running into class. Red and Blue had left earlier to get breakfast while Yellow skipped out on it to get more sleep. Red had told her to set another alarm in case she fell asleep but she was already asleep before she could. So she overslept. This resulted in her rushing to catch at least the end of her lesson.

"I'm sorry!" She crouched to help the person pick up their fallen stuff. "I should have been looking where I was going."

The boy chuckled,"It's fine. I hardly think you'd be able to see through a door to know I was behind it."

His hands were a bit rough as he took the materials from her. Yellow guessed he must do a lot of manual work. She smiled apologetically,"Sorry again."

"What's your name?" The boy asked so suddenly that it caused Yellow to blank. "Um, I'm Yellow."

A sweet smile broke out on the boy's face. "Yellow." He said her name softly. "I'll remember it." He said. The boy glanced behind her before meeting her eyes again. "See you around."

"Okay..." Yellow watched him go.

"Yellow."

Said girl jumped as her name was called. She turned around to see Red and Blue who were making their way out of class like the other campers.

"Oh hey guys. I'm sorry I'm late. I overslept."

Blue grinned,"We could tell."

Red shook his head,"I told you to set another alarm."

Yellow chuckled awkwardly,"I kind of fell asleep before I could." She folded her arms with a petulant pout. "You're the ones that took me out on your midnight escapades again though."

Blue flicked her on the forehead. "The point of those is that they remain secret, fun-size."

Yellow glared at him as she rubbed her forehead. Blue and Red had introduced Yellow to Professor Oak a few days ago and because of her height, he had mistaken her for a seven year old. Ever since, Blue had been calling her names poking fun at her height. Even though it didn't bother but mostly annoyed her, Yellow had to find it impressive how he seemed to come up with a new name almost every time.

"Hey Yellow." Red's voice was lowered in volume as he called her. She turned to him in question.

"Huh?"

"About Kevin..."

She cocked her head, still rubbing her forehead. Damn, did Blue's finger hurt. "Kevin?"

"The guy you bumped into. Try to avoid him ok?"

Yellow frowned, lowering her hand finally. "Why? He seemed sweet."

Blue snorted from the side while Red shook his head. "Just believe me ok. He's really not the type of person you want to be around."

Yellow didn't understand. Kevin seemed really sweet and kind even from just a brief interaction. But she did trust Red and Blue more than she did a boy she never met. So she nodded.

"Ok. I'll try."

/

She met Kevin alone just two days later when she was eating alone after arriving late to dinner. He had slid in next to her on the bench. "Hello again."

"Oh, hello." She smiled,"You're that boy I bumped into right? Sorry again." She pretended not to know his name as he never told her at the time.

"It's fine." He held out a hand for her to shake and she did. "I'm Kevin."

"Yellow. Though I told you that already." They both laughed Yellow in awkwardness and Kevin in amusement. Yellow internally cursed at herself. Because Red and Blue told her to be careful, she could not even pretend to be comfortable around the guy.

"So." Kevin's voice brought her back to reality. "You seem to eat late a lot."

Yellow looked back to her plate where her food lay, probably getting cold. "Well I tend to wake up late so..."

Kevin laughed though Yellow wasn't aware of what was so funny. "That's the total opposite of me. I wake up super early." As he calmed down, none of them spoke. Feeling the urge to end the conversation, Yellow went to dismiss herself.

"So do you like curry a lot?"

Yellow looked back down to her cold curry. "No? I actually prefer seafoods."

"Cause you're from Hoenn right?" He asked. Yellow tilted her head,"How did you know I'm from Hoenn?"

"Hoenn's a nice place right? I heard the weather's great up there." He sighed. "Sad that they don't do that much battling up there. It'd still be nice to visit though."

Yellow, suddenly feeling her skin crawl in warning, grabbed her tray and rose from her seat,"Right. You do that. I've got to go. My friends are probably waiting on me."

"Wait!" Kevin got up quickly. He released a chuckle, rubbing at his neck. "I'm sorry. It's just that I was really hoping that I could be your friend."

Yellow blinked, more out of shock than anything. "Um-"

"I know it's sudden. But we can take it slow if you want to."

Take what slow? Yellow shook her head,"Kevin, what are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about our relationship." He said as if she was the one not understanding.

"What relation-?"

"Yellow!"

She turned around to see both Blue and Red coming towards them. When they were within arm's length Blue threw his arm around her shoulder,"You were taking too long so we came looking for you." His gaze became sharper as it shifted to Kevin,"Hey, Kevin."

The boy didn't respond verbally, only giving a small smile and a nod. Even out of the corner of her eyes, to Yellow it looked fake.

Her attention was stolen by Red when he took her tray out of her hands. "Let's go. Curfew's earlier since we have the second test tomorrow." Yellow nodded. She honestly wanted to go to the library after eating as she wanted to read up more about the Pokémon here in Kanto but right now was more eager to get away from Kevin than anything.

"Ok." She obediently went along with Blue's guiding hand on her back but still looked back to Kevin. "Bye Kevin."

Kevin's whole face lit up and he eagerly waved goodbye.

Red nudged her when they were a good distance away. "I thought we told you to avoid him."

"I did!" Yellow said with a raised voice full of indignation. "He approached me. I even tried to get away. Then he started talking about our-" She made air quoted before folding her arms. "Relationship."

"Relationship?" Yellow had never seen Blue's face drawn in such a perfect representation of disgust. "He just met you."

"I know. It's even creepier the way he said it."

Red sighed,"Just be careful. I know he was thinking it but never thought he would say it."

Yellow raised an eyebrow at him. "You know him?"

"Not him exactly." His mouth was pulled in a displeasured frown. "But I know his types way too well." His eyes became dark with a type of fear. "The way they think is truly twisted."

Yellow glanced at Blue for answers but he shook his head. "Let's just go to bed. Hopefully tomorrow's activity is something good."

"Today, you will be observing Water Type Pokémon." Before they could scream, he honked a loud air horn causing them to quiet. Blue snickered as some people complained. Guess Gramps found a way to deal with the noise. "You can observe any Pokémon of your choosing but you must write a report on the Pokémon you observed and present it to your class tomorrow." He gestured to the edge of the lake where several equipment like rubber gloves, fishing rods and paddle boats lay. "You may use any of the materials and tools provided to help you with your report. Begin!"

/

Blue grabbed Litten by the scuff once again and put him in the middle of the boat. He pointed to it,"Stay here." As the Litten huffed, he sighed with an exasperated smile,"You're a cat and a fire type. You shouldn't even like water that much." He pulled the fire type down when it made to sit at the edge of the boat again. "If you're gonna watch the water, do it at a place you won't fall in. You can't swim and I'm not jumping in after you. I have gym class after this." He watched to see if the Litten will move again but when it didn't, he nodded in satisfaction and picked up his handout. It showed all the Pokémon living in the pond and was laminated so it wouldn't get wet.

"Hmm...Magikarp no...Lanturn...Feebas...a Horsea?" Blue's forehead scrunched together in thought. "I suppose I could." He put down the handout to grab his binoculars. As he looked through them he sighed in disappointment,"Of course. As expected, they aren't at the surface."

He looked to Litten,"You being a water type would have been real helpful right about now."

Litten meowed at him before turning back to the view of the water. Blue sighed and put down the binoculars. He took up the book on water type before turning to the Horsea entry. "It lives in the shades of corals..." Blue looked over the boat's edge to the water. His face dropped,"I am not jumping in." He put down the boat to grab the fishing rod. "Guess I'll try my luck at fishing."

/

Red couldn't focus. He knew why he was so unfocused, the insistent tugging on the back of his mind telling him danger was coming. But that's the downside to his predictions. They never tell him what the danger was. Red couldn't for the life of him figure it out on his own.

He surveyed the area again. Everything seemed perfectly fine to him. Red glanced to the left where the tip of the main cabin building was in view. Maybe the danger was over there. He looked back to the lake where multiple kids littered the surface and surrounding edge and frowned. He couldn't leave this area unsupervised either.

Red got up. He'd have to get more help.

/

"Hey, Blue."

Blue made a low sound of surprise as Red suddenly heard Red's voice. He turned to see the boy behind him in his own boat. Plusle was nestled on his shoulder.

"What's up?"

"I need you to watch out for anything suspicious."

Blue put down his rod to turn a bit more to face Red. "What is it? Another death?"

Red shook his head,"No. Just one of those feelings. Something's gonna happen but I don't know what it is. I wanna check on the camp so can you watch out for everyone?"

Blue nodded,"Sure. What are you gonna tell Yellow?"

Red looked over to where Blue gestured to. Southeast of them, Yellow was at the edge of the lake. Her Nidoran was playing with a Mareanie. She had a book in her lap and was scribbling on it with an Eevee pencil.

"I'm just gonna to tell her that I'm not feeling well. It'll line up with whatever I'm gonna tell them Professors."

"Are you ever gonna tell her?"

Blue's question had Red glancing at him out of the corner of his eye. "Are you?" He countered.

Blue looked away. "I don't know."

Red looked back at Yellow and smiled,"Seems about right." He raised his paddle,"I'm gonna get back. If I wait any longer I won't have any need to fake a headache."

Blue nodded and turned back to his own fishing. "See ya."

/

When Red reached the camp, everything was the same as how it was when they left. He sat down on the stairs that led into the main building and rested his head on his arms.

"What could possibly be wrong then?"

"Oh Red!"

"Huh?" Red looked up to see the...chef? running towards him. He got up as she neared him.

"Ms. Turner? What's wrong?"

She shook her head with her usual wide smile on her face and reached into her apron pocket. It was a folded piece of paper. Red took it as she handed it to him.

"What's this?"

She gestured to the paper,"Someone said I should give it to you today." She looked to the sky as if to recall the moment. "They said that you were not well and would eventually had to call in sick for today's activity and that I should give it to you then. They seemed really worried." She then looked back to him while putting her hands on her hips,"And what's this about hiding your illness? Don't you know that's bad for you?"

Red shook his head,"Um, I'm sorry but Ms. Turner, did the person who came to you have orange hair?"

She nodded with a close lipped smile,"Mm! Bright orange hair. Couldn't forget it. He was really helpful too." She scratched her head,"I kinda forgot to ask for his name though."

Red opened the paper. Despite the large size, it only had one sentence.

Got you. ; )

Red cursed and turn to run back to the lake.

"Wait! Red! What about your illness?! You need to take your medicine!"

Red didn't cease his running. "I'll take it when I'm back!"

/

It all happened too quickly for Yellow to process. First she was observing Mareanie normally then a weird purple gas covered the lake. Literally seconds after, Kevin showed up and she was dragged into the forest.

"Are you alright?"

Yellow coughed again, her lungs desperately trying to get rid of what amount of gas that went into her body.

"I'm fine." In the midst of regaining her bearings she caught something out of the corner of her eye and her head snapped back to Kevin.

"Is that a gas mask?"

Kevin chuckled,"Well yeah. I didn't want to breathe in the gas. It's a little dangerous."

Yellow frowned and scooted back from the boy. "You're the one who released that gas...didn't you?"

Kevin blinked at her,"Well of course? How else would I get to talk with you alone?"

"You could have asked!"

Kevin jumped at her shouting before coming closer to seemingly console her. "Oh I'm sorry. I'll do that next time." Yellow moved away from his touch, standing up and dusting off her clothes. She turned to leave,"I gotta go back."

"No!" Kevin grabbed her arm. "You can't."

Yellow snatched her arm away. "I am! Blue is still out there plus all the other students and the professors. I'm not leaving them there to die."

As she made to leave, Kevin grabbed her arm again. "But I don't want you to die."

"Well you shouldn't have released that gas then right?"

When Kevin didn't respond Yellow scoffed. "You disgust me. I met you once and you suddenly decided to have some weird claim all over me." She sneered,"It's really twisted that just to get to talk to me, you're harming my friends. But it's even more twisted that you think it's okay. I don't know what you've got going on with all-" She gestured to his whole body. "This. But I want none of it." She turned to leave again. "I'm going to help my friends."

"Why are you so obsessed with them?!"

Yellow spun around. "They're my friends! Why can't that get into your head?! And they're hurt and I need to help them."

"So if I'm hurt you'll help me right?" Kevin seemed to genuinely question it and that itself left Yellow confused.

"Ok." As Kevin reached into his pocket and pulled out a pocketknife, Yellow approached him. "Woah, woah, woah. What are you doing? Kevin, put that down."

He stabbed himself in the arm.

Yellow grabbed it. "What are you doing?!"

Kevin didn't seem to register the pain, only looking at Yellow,"This means that you'll be my girlfriend right?"

"What? No!" Yellow denied. Kevin's face switched from hope to confusion. "Is it not me?"

He pulled the knife out of his arm and Yellow winced at the squelching sound. Her eyes widened when he raised the knife,"Should I hurt you? So you can stay?"

Yellow walked backwards as Kevin stalked up to her.

"Wait, Kevin, let's talk about this."

"No, we can't talk. I'm so tired of waiting. No one ever wants me." He grinned viciously,"So I'll make you want me." He went to bring down the knife.

"Mrreow!!"

Kevin was flung backwards by a Tackle attack from a Litten. Yellow's seen that Litten enough times to know who accompanied it. She smiled as the person came into view. "Blue! You're alright!"

He smirked at her. "Of course shortcake. It's takes more than a little poison to take me out." Any kindness was erased from his face when his gaze shifted to Kevin.

He began stalking up to the boy, cracking his knuckles. "If Red was here, he'd tell me to go easy on you." He rolled his arm,"Oh how I'm so glad he's not."

Red arrived to the scene ten minutes later. He wanted to go and find Yellow and Blue immediately but knew he had to get rid of the gas or some of the younger students would suffer immensely. He just hoped they could handle themselves.

Blue was comforting Yellow when a Plusle suddenly shot into the area, using an impressive Spark on the downed Kevin.

Blue chuckled,"Looks like I was wrong. He didn't go easy on you."

Red ran into the area shortly,"Good work Plusle." Plusle gave a cheerful salute. Red looked to them,"Are you guys alright?"

Blue smirked,"Not one scratch."

Yellow stood up,"Why'd you have Plusle attack him though? Blue's already gonna be in trouble for assaulting him but you ordered a Pokémon to attack him. Red, you're gonna get expelled!"

Red shrugged,"Worth it."

Blue smirked but Yellow didn't seem to share their sentiment. "Red, this is serious. If Kevin plays his cards right, you could end up in prison. And since we're the only ones that know about his real personality, no one might believe us."

The other two still didn't seem as panicked. "Me and Blue will deal with it." Red said. He gestured in the direction to the lake,"You go back to the lake. The professors and students will be waking up now and you can blend in."

Yellow shook her head,"No, I'm taking the fall with you. It was me he was after anyway."

Blue and Red glanced at each other and Yellow frowned. "Stop doing that."

"Doing what?"

"Having that silent conversation between each other. I don't know how you do it but it's really annoying. Can you just tell me if we have any options to fixing this so we don't get kicked out?"

Red opened his mouth but no words seemed to come out. When Blue stared at him, he sighed. "No."

"No." Yellow nodded and rested her hands on her hips. "No. Okay." Yellow walked back to the tree and sat down in front of it. "Let's just turn ourselves in at this point."

Blue and Red looked to each other again before sitting at her sides. "I mean, you still have time to return to the lake." Red offered.

Yellow shook her head. That option was gone the moment Blue decided to save her. "No, you guys did this for me in the first place. This is the least I owe you."

"You owe us nothing." Blue said. "That is what friends do after all."

"Oh?"

Blue stuck his tongue out at Red,"Oh shut up."

"What is it?" Yellow asked. Red smiled,"It's just that when we were younger and just became friends, Blue said he would never say that phrase to anyone as he found it too corny." Red rolled his eyes. "You have no idea how many movies he's refused to finish watching with me because of that one line."

Yellow giggled. That sounded like him. Her gaze went to the ground.

Meeting Blue and Red was nice and she could probably now say to her mom that she finally made friends. Friends who would run all the way back from camp to help her and would risk their trainer career to-

"Wait." Red and Blue paused in their laughing to look at Yellow. "How did you know to come and check on us? Everyone was knocked out." She shrugged,"Well everyone except Blue." She turns to him. "Why weren't you knocked out?" She turned away and put her hand on her chin. "I thought it was weird but now I'm seeing how truly suspicious it is. I mean, you-" She pointed at Red. "Said you were sick even though you seem perfectly fine when we were receiving the test. And you-" She pointed at Blue. "Seemed totally unaffected by the gas. In fact, you came to find me immediately and even fought-"

"It's best we tell her Blue. I'm sensing her thoughts and she's really close to figuring it out." Yellow frowned. Sensing?

Blue raised an eyebrow at him,"You sure?"

Red nodded,"Mm." They sat up and Yellow subconsciously followed their example as the air got serious.

"Yellow, can you please promise not to overreact?"

Yellow's heart started to pound faster, genuinely getting scarred at the care with which they were approaching the subject. "Okay?"

"I'm Psychic."

Yellow turned to him with wide eyes. "What?"

"And I'm Dark."

Her eyes became wider when they turned to Blue. "What?"

Red sighed,"We-well I found out when I was two. I approached Blue because I couldn't hear his thoughts. Turns out it wasn't normal to hear them."

"We didn't know about Dark or Psychic then so we didn't know why he could hear thoughts or why he couldn't hear mine. We found out when we were...?"

"Four." Red informed. "We snuck into Professor Oak's library." Blue snapped his fingers,"Ah, right!" He grinned,"That was fun."

"That's when we learned all about People Typing. It was comforting to know that others like us were out there."

"We kept it a secret because-" Blue shrugged. "Well you know how the Mind Trio Typings get treated."

Yellow blinked in confusion and Blue raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "You don't?"

Red sighed. "I wouldn't say Kanto hates the Mind Trio's abilities but the majority are definitely wary. We can't just go around telling everyone that were Psychic and Dark. They'd try to kill us."

Blue folded his arms,"But they wouldn't be subtle about it."

"Mostly likely because people will praise them." Red shrugged with indifference. "Or just say nothing at all."

Yellow's hand raised to her mouth,"Oh that's awful. In Hoenn, they are loved. I was adored in my town for being the only Fairy typing."

"Hold up you're fairy?" Blue pointed at her. Yellow nodded. "I found out three years ago. I healed the broken leg of one of my friends. I frequently helped around town with injuries."

"That's awesome."

Yellow frowned. She kept getting disappointed by the way the people are treated in this region. It definitely needs to change. "Things are very different here in Kanto..."

Red grinned at her. "What? You're gonna try?"

Yellow looked up at him mildly confused but remembered that he could hear he thoughts. "Yes. I don't know how yet but...I want to try."

Red gave an smile,"Good luck then." He turned to Kevin who was still knocked out. "Well I better remove this guy's memories. The professors are getting close to finding us."

Yellow grabbed his arm,"Wait, I can just heal his injuries so that we don't have to explain them." Plus, she didn't feel it right to take away his memories. Evil or not, he had a right to his own mind.

Red nodded, seemingly getting both her reasons. "Okay. Sounds good. We get no repercussions and he still gets justice."

Yellow looked at Kevin,"How do we get him to confess his crimes though?"

Blue smirked. "Just heal him up quickly shortcake. Leave the rest to me." He faced Red. "How long until they arrive again?"
