Toa Solaric: Here is another Fate/Stay Night with Kamen Rider. But this is a reboot of an old fic that I tried to do in the past and decided to bring it back.
Hibiki: Oni's Melody of Fate
Ch1- The Oni And Shielder
In a large house, the sound of the beating drum can be heard through hallways. The sounds were made isn't a passion song, but it does give passion feeling while it felt like an earthquake, but in a good way.
The one who was practicing with taiko drum was a young man who was around the age of 17 or 18 with short spiky red hair and golden-brown eyes. He has a muscular build, wears black short sleeves and black pants. This is none other than Shirou Hidaka.
Soon enough, he finished with his training before hearing a knock on his door. The young man turned around and faced a pair of violet eyes that belonged to a young girl with lilac hair and reading glasses standing at the entrance of his room.
She is around his age or younger, but one thing noted is that she is beautiful. She wears a slightly baggy black sweater, white blouse, black skirt with tights and blue sandals.
This is Mashu Kyrelight.
"Mashu, do you need something?" Shirou asked curiously.
"Senpai! Hitoshi-sensei wants you to come downstairs, he looks concerned after getting off the phone with someone..." Mashu said.
"Alright." Shirou shrugged before putting the drumsticks away and leaving the room.
Mashu moved out of the way for the redhead and followed him downstairs. The pair soon made their way to the living room where a man who was in his mid-40 with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a grey sweatshirt and jogging pants.
"Tou-san, is there something of matter?" Shirou asked.
"Shirou, I just received news from Takeshi." Hitoshi started. "It seems the Holy Grail War started much earlier than it originally supposed to be."
This news surprised both Shirou and Mashu, but the former soon regain composition before looking serious.
"How can they be sure?" Shirou inquired.
"There was a string of murders and unusual activities but were covered up as gasoline explosion in Fuyuki city. It's identical to what happened in the previous Holy Grail War." Hitoshi answered.
"So, it really is going to happen huh?" Shirou remarked, looking at the mark on his right arm. On it was a red tattoo mark with three mitsudomoe symbols close to each that they resembled a shield.
While he is under Hitoshi's wing, he learned many things about the world that he doesn't know of. But the one caught his attention was the real reason for the fire that happened ten years ago.
The Holy Grail War.
A secret war between seven chosen magi and seven Servants, heroes from the past. And the prize was an all-powerful wishing grant cup that grants any wish to the victor after slain down the most.
As for why Shirou is concerned about something powerful like a Holy Grail due to something that happened one year ago.
It's how he met Mashu. When he and his comrades stumbled in an experiment by Douji and Hime. An experiment that fused a Heroic Spirit with a human being. But something strange happened in that incident led to Shirou obtains a command mark and Mashu has no recollection of who or what she is despite being close to an average human.
"Hitoshi-sensei, is Takeshi going to do something about the Holy Grail War?" Mashu asked with concerns. She knows Takeshi Oni clan seems always irks of the war started by Magus in Japan, but there isn't much they can do in the past as Magic Association never considered them or Japan any important.
"There isn't much as the agents Takeshi sent to investigated going on in Fuyuki were wiped out. The only thing makes it back were Disk Animals." Hitoshi answered with a grimace.
"Mashu…" The lilac haired girl turned to face Shirou who looks at her, "what do you think about this? If we go to Fuyuki, there is no telling what we might encounter…" He said solemnly.
The lilac haired girl was quiet at first before nodded with a serious expression on her face.
"I don't think it's fair that people in Fuyuki city should be caught in between the battle between Servants." Mashu answered, "It shouldn't be allowed to continue anymore. But we cannot simply ignore who gets their hand on the Grail. Especially them."
"But I have faith in whatever you choose, Senpai. I will stand by your decision." Mashu finished with a serious expression.
Shirou looks at her eyes and sees fire burning in them. "I know that someday I will have face my past with Fuyuki soon…" He then looks at Hitoshi. "Tou-san is this alright with you?" he asked.
"I did train you to prepare you two. But the Grail war is dangerous to both you and Mashu." Hitoshi said with a stern tone. "Promise me that you two make it back alive."
Both Shirou and Mashu nodded at the same time.
"But if things become too dangerous, don't hesitate on calling Takeshi for support." Hitoshi continued.
"We will," Shirou answered.
"Once you arrived in Fuyuki city, you would need to go to this address. Takeshi arranged a safe house for you two to stay there. There is also medical equipment to keep update on Mashu's conditions." Hitoshi explains, giving Mashu a slip of paper and key.
"So, you aren't coming too…?" Mashu asked with a hint of sadness. Even though she knows him only for a year, she looked up to him as both a mentor and a possible father figure.
Hitoshi placed his hand on her right shoulder. "I'm already too old for this now and I've helped prepared both of you. Though I'm against sending you two, knowing the possibility of death. But I believed you two will look after each other and will prevail. But that doesn't mean I won't keep in touch with both of you." He said softly. "Mashu, I count on you to protect Shirou and yourself."
The lilac haired girl nodded with confidence.
"Same for you, Tou-san." Shirou then stares at Mashu, "Let's get ready, Mashu."
The two teens hurried off to their respective rooms in order to pack.
After Hitoshi dropped them off at the train station, Shirou and Mashu soon aboard the train station onto Fuyuki city. After they got aboard, the two soon sat down next together before the train departed to Fuyuki City.
Shirou is dressing in a white jacket over a shirt black shirt and blue jeans. Meanwhile, Mashu is wearing a gray hoodie and black skirt, black staking, and brown shoes.
"Senpai, what do you think we should do about other Masters?" Mashu asked while Shirou is looking over newspapers that he picked up early.
"I think it's better that we should stay clear of them for now until we keep a proper roof over our heads first, Mashu, I hardly doubt they will listen to what we say since they might only care about their game," Shirou said in a voice below a whisper.
Mashu nodded before changing the subject. "So, how do you feel about coming back here? After all this time?" she asked, aware of the sore history of her Senpai has with the city.
"I won't deny that I felt the anxiety to see how much the city has changed after the fire... but with you being here, I think that it will bearable," Shirou responds honestly.
Facing Fuyuki means that he finally gives closure about what happens back in the fire. However, that isn't just the only thing driven by the young man. Even though he knows his memories were heavily suppressed by the trauma of the fire of Fuyuki, he cannot help feeling there is a piece of himself being left behind in the city and that he needs to get it back.
"I feel the same, Senpai," Mashu said smiling.
It wasn't long until they hear the conductor calling out Fuyuki's central station and ready to get off the train. The pair gathered into the lobby, carrying their own bag, and went up the stairs of the station.
"So, this is Fuyuki city…?" Mashu wondered curiously. Shirou won't deny that he shows a bit similar expression as Mashu about Fuyuki city.
Shirou can't help feeling the same as the only remembers the fire happen before he and Hitoshi left the city. But he is curious about how to find that missing piece of himself here.
"Yeah… let's go find a taxi," Shirou responds before he spotted a yellow cab vehicle not far from where they were.
The redhead ran to the cab before and talking with the driver through the window for a few minutes. It wasn't long until Shirou calls Mashu before the two rode the taxi on their way.
It wasn't long until the taxi left as Shirou and Mashu look at the two-story house that will be their own until their assignment in this city is finished. The house itself looks like a normal Japanese traditional house with a garage.
"Umm… Senpai, is this the right address?" Mashu asked disbelief at their assigned house.
"The address has matched the one that Tou-san gave us. Let's go, Mashu." Shirou said before the two went straight to the front door.
With the key, Mashu opened the door as she and Shirou walk straight into the house. They find the place is clean and there are some furniture and a computer on the table.
Shirou soon turned on the computer and saw what was on the screen.
"I see… this house has quite the surveillance systems." Shirou said before remembered something. He took out his cellphone and make a quick call to Hitoshi.
"Shirou, I take it that you and Mashu made it to Fuyuki without any problems?" Hitoshi asked.
"Yeah, it's not bad. Not to mention that I'm impressed with the security system in case of magus come onto our yard." Shirou said while looking over Mashu who is going over the security software of the house.
"Though the security system might not do much against things strong as servants, I expected you and Mashu to take care of the place as if it was your home," Hitoshi said.
"Don't worry, Hitoshi-sensei! This is just like our home, Senpai! If something comes up, we'll call you." Mashu said before Shirou closed his cellphone.
"Before we do any unpacking and tided up, let's the Disk Animals to look around our new neighborhood," Shirou respond opened his bag and got out several disks.
"That is a good idea, Senpai," Mashu said as she helped spread the disks across the floor.
Shirou then got out an upside-down tuning fork with an Oni face in the base. He then turned the metal part upwards, making it a proper tuning fork before waved it over the disks. It wasn't long until there was one red hawk, three light blue eagles, and four light blue wolves. Mashu soon opened the window as the disk animals went out at their duties.
It wasn't long after they finished unpacking, Shirou is currently checking the applicants in the kitchen while Mashu is cleaning the living room with a broom. As she careful brushing the place, Mashu can't help but thinking that she and Senpai will be together in the mission involved in the Holy Grail War. She won't deny that she is a bit scare after going over Takeshi's record about the Holy Grail War. But this is also a job that she will be able to help and support her Senpai with the role that she was destined for.
She thinks back to the first time when she lived with Shirou and Hitoshi.
(Flashback)
Mashu is sitting out the garden of her caretakers and looking up at the stars in the sky.
"You'll get cold if you stay out here, Mashu." A familiar voice said as she turned around and saw the redhead boy before her presence.
It was the same red hair boy who visits her before in the strange room for few days. Though she still couldn't understand why he interacted with her. The same goes for a man that the redhead boy refers 'Tou-san' interact with her as well.
"Do you need anything?" Mashu inquired stoic.
"I want to check on you and see how you're doing in a real house," Shirou answered with a friendly smile. "Do you find anything uncomfortable?" he asked.
"Nothing." Mashu shaking her head.
"Is there anything you like about the place?" Shirou asked.
But Mashu shook her head again. "Is it okay for me to live?" Mashu asked quietly.
"Of course," Shirou respond firmly. "You're human."
The lilac hair girl's expression didn't seem to change. "Even after what you told me of my condition, I'll be gone by then and didn't even do anything. Nothing that proved I'm alive. What would be the point for someone like me to exist?" she spoked.
This makes Shirou looks surprised. "Are you saying… that you don't felt like you're allowed to live?"
But this made Mashu remains quiet with a downward expression.
Shirou gave the poor girl a kind and gentle smile. "You don't have to worry about focusing on them. Only doing things you felt is right." He said. "But most of all focused-on living is more important than anything else. Everything desperate to live. You should continue to keep on living no matter what."
"I should keep on living… no matter what?"
Shirou nodded before hearing a growling sound. Coming from Mashu's stomach while Mashu stares blankly at Shirou.
"C'mon, Mashu. Since you're going to live with us, you're going to learn hospitality." Shirou said, taking the young girl's hand.
(Present)
If it wasn't for Senpai, she won't be where she was right now. Senpai and Hitoshi-sensei were there by her side to teach her about being human and the world. Even though their mission to prevent Holy Grail from falling into the hands of Makamou and other Master… but Mashu wonders if something powerful like Grail could help her.
"Mashu… how is cleaning coming up?" Shirou asked, coming back to the living room.
"It's good, Senpai," Mashu responds positively.
"Anyway, I figure out what we will need for the first few weeks. We should be going to check the grocery store soon." Shirou said.
Just then they heard a strange sound and turned around to see one of the Disk Animals returned. Shirou opens the window and lets the Disk Animal land in his hand.
"Akanetaka, what is it?" Shirou asked.
"I think that I felt a Makamou nearby, but also a strange boundary field." The red hawk said, making them look surprised.
"Why would a Makamou want with a boundary field?" Mashu asked, confused.
"Let's find out." Akanetaka then transformed into a disk. Shirou grabbed out the Onsa Onkaku. He opened the metal part and placed the disc on the end of it which fits. He soon closed it and spun the disc. Mashu watched Shirou who stares at the disk. He soon opened, got the disc out, and allowed Akanetaka to transform.
"Mashu, I think we need to hold off shopping for a bit," Shirou said as Mashu nodded.
It wasn't long until the two left the house after locking the front door. Akanetaka flew ahead of them as they continued their way through the neighborhood until they heard a loud growl sound from the woods.
They find the source of the problem in a humanoid creature that resembled a black spider that is tried to pierce a ruined shed that been surrounded by a barrier. It has brown claws for fingernails with spider legs dangling on their hips and shoulders, the head resembles a spider as well with several eyes and mandible.
By the time, they get there, the barrier that tried to hold back was showing completely crackle from Makamou's thrusting at the barrier.
"Makamou!" Shirou shouts as this made the creature turned and spotted them.
"So, you know what I'm…? Are you one of the magi living in this city?" The Spider Makamou inquired.
"Nope," Shirou said before getting out his upside-down tuning fork with an Oni face.
"What…!"
Shirou turned the metal part upwards, making it a proper tuning fork. He tapped it on his wrist, and it began to give off visible sound waves. He placed it against his forehead and when he did, the face from the tuning fork appeared on his forehead. The sound waves from the face spread throughout his body before it got caught in a violet flame. Soon he swung his arm out, dispersing the flame. It wasn't long until a new being stood in place.
He appeared to be wearing a kind of purple bodysuit, red gloves, silver straps covering his chest, a belt around his waist, and what looked like a purple helmet with a purple opaque visor lined with red markings, silver horns, and the same Oni face decorating on the forehead.
This was Kamen Rider Hibiki.
"Mashu, I want you to check what is inside that the shed and disable any traps that you might find in there. Find out if there is anyone alive or not." Hibiki said as Mashu nodded and went on ahead.
The Spider Makamou tried to fire the web from her mouth, but Mashu's body suddenly glowing as she now donned body-tight, black and dark-purple armor. She also wears black gauntlets and boots. In her hand was a large cross-shaped shield. Not to mention that she not wearing her glasses either.
This is the Shielder-Class Servant.
Mashu jumped out of the way from the webs as she makes her way to the shed. When she rammed her shield against the boundary field, it shatters completely and went straight inside the place.
Hibiki soon charged the Spider Makamou with two red drumsticks, his Ongekibou Rekka, and smashed her drumsticks into the Makamou's face. But the Spider Makamou managed to move back before the last blow hit her and fired her webs at Hibiki.
Not far from where Hibiki was with the Spider Makamou, someone dressed in a black hood is watching them from afar.
"So Hibiki showed up with their failed experiment," The dark hooded figure commented on the fight.
Hibiki soon finds his arms being stuck by the webs and cannot wield his Ongekibou Rekka before the Spider Makamou comes charge at him.
"Kihōjutsu: Onibi!" Hibiki let out a roar of purple flame at the Spider Makamou's face and send her flying backward.
"Kitōjutsu: Onidume!" Soon Hibiki's hands morphed into demon claws as he breaks through the webs and charged at the Spider Makamou, slashing his claws constantly at her chest. The Spider Makamou fell on his back and rolled.
Hibiki then charges at the Makamou while it was trying to get back up. But the Spider Makamou soon dodged and she became much larger and more spider-like in the process.
This is a new one… Hibiki thought before dodging an incoming attack from the Spider Makamou's front legs. He soon released fireballs from his Ongekibou Rekka and fired them directly at her eyes, blinding the Makamou in the process.
Hibiki soon jumps onto one of the legs and running onto the back of the Spider Makamou. He soon holding onto the Makamou for his life as she tried to shake him off.
He bashed the Spider Makamou multiple time. Each strike more painful than the last one, and soon Hibiki hit the Makamou with both Rekka, the Spider Makamou collapsed to the ground.
Hibiki soon got his belt buckle out. He then throws it on her like a disk and it enlarged to become as larger, resembled a Taiko.
"Ongeki Da: Kaen Renda no Kata!" Hibiki soon started to beat on it, each hit sends a purple pulse.
(音撃打・火炎連打の型lit. "Sound Attack Stroke: the Flame Barrage Style")
Hibiki started beating faster and the Makamou was now immobile. Soon Hibiki used both Rekka for one last beat. When he did, the Makamou exploded.
A bright light engulfed Hibiki and faded away as there was only Shirou. He soon hurries straight into the abandoned shed.
"Mashu! Did you find—"
The redhead soon finds Mashu who was standing in front of an unconscious woman with short, magenta hair and a mole under her left eye. One thing for certain that Shirou can tell that the woman is not Japanese, but foreign instead. She was dirty with a layer of dust over the front of her clothing, which consisted of a brown jacket with a dark, purplish-red tie, slacks and dress shoes. Say, the woman looks like she is older than Shirou and Mashu. But what caught his attention that she is missing a left arm that been bandaged with part of the brown business coat, though he can still see and smell blood reeking from her.
Though the source of the blood might make Shirou felt sick, Mashu's voice made him focused all his attention on her.
"She is barely alive when I find her. Though she tried to used rune magic to slow down the blood flow, I have to use her jacket as a bandage." Mashu explains calmly.
"Were there anyone else here or traps?" Mashu shook her head.
"I see…" Shirou responds before looking at the woman, "if she is a Magus, then there is no doubt that she must be one of the Masters." This is a common fact he learned after the command mark appeared on them, that they appeared on a certain part of the individual's body. "There is no way that a Makamou would do it unless they have something important." He theorized. 'Judging by how dirty her clothes, it looks like she struggles after a day or two…' he mentally added.
"Then you are saying that this might be the work of another Master to steal their servant?!" Mashu concluded shock.
"That's a possibility. We don't know who it could be, but they might still be in this city." Shirou continued grimace at the thought of how dark the Holy Grail War was true. "If we call a hospital, there is no doubt that her killer might know she is alive…"
"But we can't let her die here, Senpai!" Mashu protested seriously.
"Calm down, Mashu. Just because I'm concerned with who the murder be, doesn't mean that I will let her die. Why we're going to need Takeshi's help for this." Shirou responds, getting out his cellphone and pressed speed dial.
"Hello? Tachibana-san, it's Hibiki." Shirou respond.
"Oh, Hibiki. What can I do for you?"
"I need your help with something important since it involves the Holy Grail War," Shirou explains the discovery of what he and Mashu discovery of possible another master and need to help the injury master.
"Does she have any form of identification on her to verification of her identity?"
Mashu soon checked the unconscious woman's pockets for any verification before finding a small booklet in one of the pockets.
"I think that this might be her passport…" Mashu opening the passport, "Bazett Fraga McRemitz. That's her name."
"I see. You encounter one of the Enforcers from Magic Association." This made both Shirou and Mashu's eyes widen in surprise at the information.
"Wait, one of the Association Enforcers was a Master for the War!?" Shirou gawked in surprise.
"We will contact the hospital in Fuyuki, and we will make sure that the person is being taken care of before transporting her out of Fuyuki. In the meantime, keep an eye on her condition before help arrived." The voice said.
"Understand," Shirou said with closing his cellphone.
After watching the ambulance truck leaving with the unconscious victim of the Holy Grail War, Shirou and Mashu decided to go shopping for things for their home in Fuyuki city like they intended on it. There are a lot of people in the city, especially a lot of students. But Shirou didn't need to worry about going to school as Takeshi Oni clan provided free education program for new apprentices. Although Mashu isn't technically an Oni apprentice, he and his father still teaching her the essentials with the assistance of some of their friends who sometimes visit.
Before going back to their new home, the two make a quick stop at a local restaurant to get some quick bites after wandering around for a few hours.
"So good…!" Both Shirou and Mashu said cheerfully in the union after eating the fried ribs for the first time.
"I take it that you two are new around here?" The waitress asked, who was the one to take their order in the first place.
"Yeah… we're here on a vacation." Mashu answered. Even though they volunteered for the job to make ensure the Grail didn't fall into the wrong hand, it doesn't mean that they can't enjoy normal things like normal people at the same time.
"I see. I hope that you two will be careful, there been a recent increase in crimes happened at night, there is no telling what would happen." The waitress said in a calm tone.
"Don't worry. We can take care of ourselves." Shirou answered with a confident tone.
"Then I will excuse myself. I hope that you two enjoyed your meals." The waitress said before excused herself from their table.
"I guess that how everyone been feeling anxiety lately…" Mashu observing the waitress with a solemn expression.
"It can't be helped... but after we saw, it would make others scarier if they know the reason," Shirou said, still thinking about the female magus that is barely alive. "I won't deny that I'm even scared like them… but at the same time, I don't want it to continue any further." He stated.
"Senpai… You mean we will make sure nothing happens." Mashu corrected with a small smile.
"How about we head home, Mashu?" Shirou asked. "We could see more of the city tomorrow."
Mashu nodded before they left the restaurant building right now.
It was late at night, Shirou and Mashu were on their way back to their home. But their peaceful walk in the night will be soon be disturbed. Mashu's eyes widen in shock before she stopped her Senpai from moving any further than where he was before.
Impaled in the street was a long, ornate red spear, it's dagger-like headlined with several barbs near the haft.
"W-What in the world…?" Shirou uttered in shock.
It wasn't long until they saw someone standing next to the spear. The azure hair with a thin ponytail was seen on the man's head. The man was also wearing a blue bodysuit with silver tracing along his legs and waist, while interlocking silver plates formed flexible spaulders over the shoulders and around his neck in a collar. Piercing red eyes glistened in the night were leaking murderous intent. Despite that, the attacker's face was set in an almost chipper smile.
This is the Lancer-Class Servant.
Both Shirou and Mashu can sense that there is something more to this blue-haired man. The way the spear struck the floor like that and his outfit further proved that this man is also a Servant. "Not bad… this is the first time someone ever foresight my movement." He stated before plucking up his spear and pointed at the two. "No harm feeling, but I'm just doing my job here." He charged forward with his spear in his hand.
But Mashu moved forward and transformed in her Shielder form with her cross-shaped shield to halt the red spear.
"The hell!? You're a Servant!?" Lancer exclaimed in shock. Does that mean the boy with her is her Master?
"I won't forgive you for tried to harm us!" Mashu shouts serious before sending Lancer a few feet away.
But Lancer only skidding few feet away from Mashu and gritting his teethes.
"What kind of servant used only a shield as a weapon, young lady? There is no way that you're either Saber or Berserker." Lancer questioned with his eyes narrowly dangerous.
"Someone whose name you don't need to know." Mashu retorts who stood in her ground and waiting for his next moves.
'Get somewhere safe, senpai…' Mashu telepathy said to the redhead.
The redhead nodded before he got the grocery bags and leaving off in another different direction.
Lancer soon makes his first move with several thrusts on her but Mashu blocked them easily with her shield in her hand. He then tried to aim for her legs with a sweeping swing but Mashu performed a graceful backflipped to evaded. She soon lands in a low crouch, with one hand that touched the dirt before rocketing forward at the speeds that made the spearman to leap backward as Mashu stabbed her shield hard to the ground, making a large crater in the process. Soon Lancer comes charging at Mashu with his red pole in his hand, but Mashu got out her shield and blocked the attack as sparks from the spear flashing across the shield.
Mashu soon tried to thrust her shield at him, but Lancer moved out of the way and performing an overhead swing at her. Mashu barely dodged the attack as it got some of her hair in the process.
"Even with that large shield of yours, you cannot really move properly!" Lancer said as he moved in for an attack again. Before he could get close, a barrage of fireballs struck him hard in the face.
"Who the hell did that!?" Lancer exclaimed in fury.
Mashu turned around to see Hibiki was standing nearby with his red drumsticks in his hands.
"A demon?" Lancer raising an eyebrow at the appearance of Hibiki.
'Mashu, I'm going to distract him for you before you get a chance to attack.' Hibiki mentally said to his Shielder.
"Kibōjutsu: Rekkadan!" Hibiki charges his drumsticks with power, igniting the tops with flames creating a torch-like weapon, which then shoots fireballs from each one at Lancer.
Lancer immediately spinning his crimson spear to wiped out of Hibiki's fireballs, making the Oni looks surprised at him.
"Sorry, but that trick won't work on me twice in a row!" Lancer said before charging forward at Hibiki.
Hibiki moved out of the way when Lancer tried to swing his red spear at him. He then brought out his drumsticks in order to blocked Lancer's next swing. Though Mashu can see there is a slight struggle of Hibiki holding his ground against someone like Lancer.
"You're not half bad… despite not being a Servant, but-" Before Lancer could finish his sentence, Hibiki opened his mouth and breathed purple flame at his face as it making the spearman fall backward.
"I really don't like that you are being in my personal space," Hibiki said coldly.
Lancer soon wiped the flame away from his face and glaring at him. "What the hell is with you keep attacking my face!?" Lancer exclaimed, now looking more furious at Hibiki.
Hibiki soon jumps backward in order to further avoiding his attacks. It wasn't long until Hibiki is landing on one knee as his back was against a building.
"I got you now!" Lancer said before thrusting his red spear at him and ready to finish him off.
"Shielder, now!" Hibiki shouts as Lancer's eyes widen in shock.
Mashu soon runs in front of Hibiki with her shield in hand and Lancer's attack was bounced back from the shield. But Mashu wasn't done yet as she rams her shield straight to Lancer's face and sending him further back from them than before.
But Lancer was able to land on the ground and wiped away his face as he glares at the Shielder girl who pushed him far from her.
"You know that I never meet anyone else pissed me off beside him… but I am ending this right now!" Lancer snapped as his spear is flaring up with crimson aura.
Could he be using his Noble Phantasm? Hibiki thought. Noble Phantasm is the Servant's trump card and symbol of their identity as a hero of the past.
"Master, please stay behind me," Mashu stated seriously. The aura giving off by the spear indicated that there is no way either she or her Senpai would be able to run away. If either of them does try, they will only end up being dead for sure. "I will not let it go to us!" she stares defiantly at the blue spearman.
Lancer rushed forward, his spear screaming for blood as it pulled back.
Mashu placed her shield in front of herself and Hibiki, prepared herself. This will be the biggest challenge in her life as a Servant.
Even though I'm still inexperienced as a Servant…
"GAE—"
But this is my turn of protecting my Senpai! Mashu swears with her entire life as her eyes opened.
"BOLG!"
With a roar, the man thrust his spear forward and the weapon screamed as it aimed for the heart. To anyone, death was all but assured. The curse imbued on this weapon guaranteed such a fate.
But fate meant nothing to a shield that will protect all.
"Go… Lord Takeshi!" she shouts loud to the air.
Mashu slammed her shield down on the ground as a white magic circle radiating in front of her shield and resolute against the red energy, earning surprise reaction from Lancer.
"What the…"
The white magic circle projected a white energy shape of Mashu's shield in front of it. Both left and right side formed a giant white brick castle wall that stood as a barrier. Mashu soon took a deep breath before letting out a shout into the air.
The crimson spear slowly dug into the wall, but a combination of her will to protect, luck and the shield that Mashu carried the concept of "defending" is about to counter the curse that was carried over the spear.
Lancer's eyes widened as his spear was repelled by the unknown wall. Even though he didn't want to believe it. His spear has never been repelled before. An impossibility, but it had just happened in front of him.
The cursed spear was unable to work.
He didn't have enough time to react properly as Hibiki fires a large fireball at him. Pushing his muscle to the limit, he twisted to the side—
And found his rear end being burned in the process.
Lancer howled in pain as he falls to the ground, attempt to recover his bearings as the pain of burning was running through his rear.
Mashu is still holding the wall in front of her as she and Hibiki were watching the blue spearman with caution as he gets back up from the ground.
"You win this round, you two. But next time, I'm not holding back!" he conceded. "I don't know who you are, girl… but I never meet a servant with incomplete Noble Phantasm like that..."
Mashu's eyes widen in shock at what the Lancer-class servant just says right now.
"Then why were you trying to kill us for?" Hibiki demands as he watching Lancer strolling away.
"A strategic retreat. I can't fight you as well as I'd like as I am now. My stupid master ordered me with a command spell to simply test the waters against any of my opponents, so my strength is a bit restrained now."
"And when we meet again?" Hibiki asked though he felt as if he knew the answer.
"Of course. It's inevitable. Like it or not, you and your servant are in this war until the very end." Lancer said as he hopped to the top of the telephone pole.
"Until we meet again!"
With that, the servant hopped off and disappeared into the night. Seeing as he was gone, Hibiki soon glows and reversal back to his human form.
Shirou let out a sigh before looking back at Mashu who returns to her human form now.
"Mashu, are you alright?" Shirou asked.
"I never thought that blocking a real Noble Phantasm would be so tiring…" Mashu replied, looking kind of exhausted.
"True, but at least you hold yourself against an actually Servant for the first time," Shirou said, placing his hand on her shoulder to console her.
"Even though he was forced to hold back a bit, Senpai?" Mashu pointed out.
"Just because he was forced a bit back with his attack, you still able to block it, Mashu. If he goes all out, I'm sure you're able to prevent his attack from getting through." Shirou nodded with a smile. "After you're… the Hero of Shield."
Hearing those words made Mashu felt better especially from him and smiled. "Thank you, Senpai," Mashu said, cheerfully.
"Now let's get the grocery and head home, okay?" Shirou said before the two left and went off on their own.
To be continued…
