Hello again, everyone, and welcome back! I am SuperHeroTimeFan, coming to you once again in 2023 with a brand-new chapter for my new crossover for The Owl House, known as Owl House: NT Witch! I am so glad that the first chapter has gained so much popularity within just the first few weeks it was posted. A lot of your reviews and feedback have really helped me to get to doing the second chapter, especially from my best friend, Cloud4012, as well as Reviewers EvanderAdvent and Galfin3745. It really helps to see all this feedback and support from each and every one of you. I do intend plan for the Hexsquad to have their own NetNavis, and there will be a surprise with ShadeMan thrown into the mix. I even posted some art for the story on DeviantArt, of Luz, Azura, and Amity, if you have not already seen them. Now, with everything addressed, here is the new chapter! Please feel free to review, rate, and as always, please be sure to enjoy!
Chapter 2: Ways of the Witches
Within the depths of the Demon Realm's Cyberworld, ShadeMan looked to each different screen, each showing the powers he had discovered while he was observing the new world he had revived in. The symbols above them displayed several Witches and Demons, showing off different kinds of magic. Continuing to observe them closely, he glanced to see several Dark Chips, now left blank and devoid of any power imbued in them by Dr. Regal.
"You thought you could use us as your pawns, Regal," ShadeMan said with a deep hatred in his voice. "But now, I have outlived you. I may not be able to get revenge on you or that despicable LaserMan, but I can erase your poison from a new legacy," he said as the dark energy that once eroded the Darkloids started to be siphoned off. "Once I find the strongest that this 'Demon Realm' has to offer, my new Darkloids will be ready. Darkloids who are not in our quest just for the power of Dark Chips, but ones who will fight for the Darkloid Cause. I will admit, I miss BubbleMan," he admitted as another screen appeared, showing a large tentacle creature taking the appearance of an elderly wizard. "But I doubt he would approve of what I'm planning to do," he said, taking a new Dark Chip, one that had a red and gold colored potion sigil on the center, before sending it out. "Show me my new power. Present to me the first of my new Darkloids, and this realm shall belong to me."
The disguised wizard was readying something at a mansion when the Dark Chip arrived. Hovering over him, it let out dark energy that caused the creature to scream. Soon, it died down, and his whole body began to turn into an amalgam of what could only be described as a NetNavi with Cthulhu features, bearing the symbol of the gold and crimson potions sigil on his chest as a Navi Crest.
"All Witches and Demons… will burn!" the newborn Darkloid yelled before creating several HeelNavis with different appearances, all warped before taking on different forms.
At the Owl House, Luz was in a sleeping bag on the floor, her bag laid out by her side, a small laptop closed on the table near the window, and a picture of her and her parents by her head, with her PET in a charging port nearby. Now outside of her usual clothing, she wore a grey shirt with purple shorts. Her shoes were placed next to her bag.
King slept at the end of Luz's sleeping bag, curled up like a house pet. The two were still sleeping, with Azura resting inside of the PET. In Luz's mind, she started to recall what had happened the previous day.
"Stop adorably hopping away, you little…"
"Welcome to… the Owl House."
In Eda's room, Eda was also sleeping, wearing a plum sweater with amber cuffs, a stained violet nightgown, and stained light yellow bunny slippers. Just like Luz, she was also mentally recalling the events of yesterday, though more on what happened with Luz that shocked her.
"Jack In! Azura, Power Up!"
"AreaSteal, Battle Chip In, Download!"
"Synchro Chip in, Download! Begin CrossFusion Now!"
At the same time, both Eda and Luz's eyes shot wide open.
Luz was the first to spring up. Looking around, she smiled. "It wasn't a dream!" she exclaimed happily.
Eda snapped up, everything now starting to come back to her. "Oh, Titan," she said, feeling her head before remembering Luz in CrossFusion. "It wasn't a dream! Which means… Net time starts today!"
"Morning to you too, Luz," Azura said as the PET turned on. "Want to wish the world a good morning too?"
"You know it, Azura!" Luz said, grabbing her PET before opening the window. "Good morning, terrifying fantasy world!"
"Good morning!" a sea creature called, waving to Luz before sinking into the sea.
"Yikes," Luz said before walking to King and picking him up, causing him to wake up upon feeling movement. "Good morning, you little cutie pie." She said sweetly before attacking him with kisses to his skull.
"I am not your cutie pie!" King protested before he was embraced with a hug.
"You really are." Azura teased as Luz put King down.
"I know, Human's minion." King said in defeat.
"Okay, all things net, getting myself a partner like that Azura, it starts today!" Eda said before turning to Owlbert. "No one will replace you, but I want to know what all that net stuff is about, because it'll liven up these Boring Isles a ton!"
"This is it, old girl," Luz said in the bathroom, holding up her book of The Good Witch Azura. "First day on the Boiling Isles…"
"First day with Luz on the Boiling Isles…" Eda said at the same time as she went into her personal bathroom.
"As a Witch Apprentice!" Luz said excitedly.
"As a Net… something!" Eda exclaimed.
As soon as Luz was finished washing up, she opened a door with her eyes covered.
"Please have witchy clothes, please have witchy clothes…" Luz said before seeing robes and black hats everywhere. She smiled and did a happy stomping dance. "Yes, yes, yes! Yes! Whoo!"
"Fishnets, check," Eda said, going through her own closet as soon as she finished up in her bathroom. "A spider's cap? Why not?" she asked, putting it on. "And this fancy case I stole from Odalia when I bribed her into becoming a hooker for that sleaze from Hexside," she went on, taking out a gold and emerald colored case that had a grip on it. "Oh, that was a good day. Just wish she didn't come back with… her life. Or just didn't come back at all."
"Watch out, Witches…" Luz said, now dressed as a witch with a nametag while twirling around her Progress PET, making her way to Eda's room.
"Watch out, Kid…" Eda said, making her way down from her room, unaware that Luz was already walking her way.
"Here…"
"I…"
"OOF!"
Hooty stretched his neck into the house to wish Luz a good morning, having missed the chance once she entered the bathroom, but soon found both Luz and Eda at the foot of the stairs, rubbing their heads.
Luz's Progress PET displayed its holographic screen, showing Azura as she saw Luz and Eda starting to come to.
"Okay, what happened?" Azura asked.
Luz and Eda both opened their eyes and looked to each other. Luz looked to what Eda was wearing while Eda was doing the same with her new student. After a while, the two broke out laughing as they helped each other up.
"Sorry, Eda the Owl Lady," Luz said, wiping away some tears. "But the stockings not only don't suit you… they're the wrong kinds of net."
"Says you, Luz the Human," Eda said in between chuckles. "You're wearing a bathrobe and the dirtiest traffic cone I've ever seen."
The two shared a laugh again before taking a look at each other, both now starting to become red with embarrassment.
"I'm just gonna go and…" Luz started, pointing down the hall to her room.
"Yeah, me too." Eda said before she and Luz went their separate ways, still giggling like schoolgirls as Luz picked up her PET and patted Hooty on the head.
"Good morning, you two!" Hooty called before stretching himself back to the front of the door.
After changing again, Luz and Eda were downstairs. King was in a booster seat at the kitchen table, watching some NetBattles on the holographic screen on Luz's PET, while Luz herself was placing out some of the Battle Chips in her collection on the table.
"So, CrossFusion is the result of a human and their Net-Knob having a strong bond with each other?" Eda asked, setting some eggs down before Luz went to check on something cooking on the stove.
"NetNavi, actually," Luz corrected. "And the bond works different ways. For Lan and MegaMan, it was their friendship. For their rivals turned friends, Chaud and ProtoMan, it was their individual strengths they developed."
"Has anyone outside of a human done that CrossFusion armor thing too?" King asked, seeing more NetBattles, specifically the NetPolice Battle against the revived Darkloids.
"Well, no non-human has ever tried, but they need someone special first," Luz said as she brought some sweet sausage over, with plenty of sauce in the pot. "A NetNavi of their own."
"What have you ever made with the sausages?" Eda asked curiously.
"On my late dad's side of the family, we have some roots going back to a place in the Human Realm known as the Philippines," Luz said. "This sweet sausage is known as longganisa. My Dad and my Lola taught me and my Mama a special recipe when we visited before typhoon season."
"Philippine islands, huh?" Eda asked. "I think I knew a Wakwak there when I went to Bohol at some point."
"Oh, you got some human stuff from there too?" Luz asked.
"Buried somewhere in everything I got, but yeah," Eda said. "But back on topic, mm," she said after taking a bite of some longganisa. "This is good stuff… how would I get my own NetNavi?"
"Well, my parents were both part scientists at SciLab, a place where people bring the future to life, and they taught me the process to make new NetNavis," Luz said. "While we were at the Conformatorium, I even found the stuff to make the process faster, Custom Burn Discs."
"From the contraband?" Eda asked.
"Yeah, I'm not sure how they got there," Luz said before looking to Eda. "But I want to know how I get my own staff, and how to do spells like you."
"Well, you'd have to work for yours. Of course, you can get one at a magic school, but since we're going a bit unorthodox here, that's not probably the best way to go about it." Eda explained.
"There's a magic school nearby?" Luz asked.
"Hold it, Luz," Eda said. "I still need one of those… NetNavis, was it?"
"That's it." Luz confirmed.
"So, if you want to find a way to get a staff, how do I get my own NetNavi?" Eda asked.
"It all depends on the person," Luz explained. "They decide how their NetNavi looks, and their personality is made from there. I based Azura on the book that my father left for me."
"And I'm glad to take after her too," Azura said. "Granted, the books aren't for all ages, but if Luz is happy with them, I'm more than honored."
"Plus, NetNavis are designed through some special means other than the Custom Burn Discs I got," Luz went on. "There were only a few, and we also need the PETs."
"We've got one, if you can count Hooty as a pet." King said.
"I'm an independent House Demon." Hooty said, stretching his neck to join the conversation.
"No, I mean this," Luz said, picking up her PET. She dialed a few buttons, and soon, displays of all the past PETs came up for King, Eda and Hooty to see. "There have been a ton of models before, and it all started with the Plug-In model. After that, the Advanced PETs came out, until we were introduced to the newest model, the Progress PET, which comes with additional add-ons in order to improve performance, or in simpler terms, make everything easier to handle."
"So I guess our Scrolls wouldn't work the same way?" Eda asked.
"Scroll?" Luz asked.
Eda made a circle with her finger, and indeed, a rolled-up scroll-looking device appeared. She held out her hand, and it unrolled itself to become something that looked like a smartphone.
"We can use these to access information and make posts, mostly on Penstagram, our social media platform," Eda explained. "You can take a look at mine, and maybe you can get some ideas from it for a NetNavi." She went on, handing it over to Luz.
"Hmm," Luz said, taking the Scroll and inspecting it. "Kim made her own from an old phone, but this? This is something else," she said. "Do they all have the same design?"
"Yeah, it sucks that way," King said as Eda turned to glare at him. "What? You lose it among a ton of others, and it'll take forever to figure out which one is yours! You can't deny that's an annoying feature."
"Yeah, but I never complained about it." Eda said.
Luz remembered what she did back with an old phone, before she found herself in the Demon Realm. Reaching for the extension chip with the bronze rim from her back pocket, she looked to it before looking back to the Scroll.
"Eda, can I try something?" Luz asked. "At the expense of not using this Penstagram for a while."
"Depends on what it is." Eda replied.
"This was something I made a short while after my first few NetBattles, when Azura was fresh from creation," Luz replied. "It was made to turn any old device, from old phones, tablets, or game devices, into new PETs. If all goes well, I could be able to make a new PET from this, but it would take a while to properly form."
"Well, if it takes a step closer to getting a NetNavi of my own, go for it," Eda said approvingly. "Dang, Kid. I didn't know you were such a genius too."
"Some people NetBattle with their free time, I used mine trying to help advance the world," Luz said before taking the bronze extender and sliding it across a slot at the top of Eda's Scroll. Nothing happened for about ten seconds, but a short few seconds later, the Scroll started to change shape. "Wow, it works."
"Does it come with a NetNavi?" Eda asked.
"My extender is able to add in a Normal Navi for anyone I make a new PET for," Luz replied. "They're not designed like Azura is, but they'll at least have some good strength and power, and be able to serve your needs until I can get the Custom Burn Discs up and running."
"Well, the day's just starting," Eda said as Luz redirected her attention to the Battle Chips laid out. "You might want to clean those up. Sometimes I accidentally throw away stuff that is just laying around."
"Actually, those are for you once the conversion is complete," Luz said. "If you want your own NetNavi, and to NetBattle, you need to know all of the Battle Chips that I laid out. My Mama didn't know when I left, but I took with me a good chunk of Battle Chips, including duplicates, in case I didn't like the camp and got bored."
"See? You're a rebel already," Eda said, walking to the Battle Chips. "So, you need me to memorize these?"
"Yeah, and go over this chart of which Chips do what, which Chips make for the best strategy, and which ones makes up what are known as Program Advances," Luz said, handing Eda a sheet. "Homework without having to do any writing. I'll expect it back once the conversion is complete," she said. "In the meantime, is there anything you might need?"
"Well, I was gonna have you make some deliveries for my potion business, but I'm more excited for this now," Eda said. "Take the time to have a look around the place, but don't get spotted by any guards like the ones from the Conformatorium. I don't think Wrath will be all that forgiving of what we caused there."
"Will do," Luz said, walking to the door. "Oh, and one more thing. The Normal Navi won't be able to do CrossFusion with you. Only a fully-customized one like Azura will be able to perform it with you. As well as having the right kind of bond with them."
"Got it," Eda said, already starting to picture in her head what her NetNavi would possibly look like. "Don't be gone too long."
Luz nodded and walked outside. Holding her PET close, she made sure her Battle Chip Gate was also hidden away before walking through the forest, unaware that the same new Darkloid was watching her.
"If the girl was with the Owl Lady… she's my ticket for revenge."
"So, Azura," Luz said, placing some contacts on after pressing them, allowing for her to see Azura in the Demon Realm's Cyberworld. "You find out anything else about the Cyberworld here while showing King those NetBattles?"
"A few things," Azura replied. "Did some doubling on others on this new Net, and as I said last time, I really am the first NetNavi of the Demon Realm, and of this new NetCity," she went on, showing Luz the Demon Realm NetCity in the hidden Cyberworld. "If we're really the first, we should at least coin a term for this place."
"Got any ideas?" Luz asked.
"How does the MagiNet sound?" Azura asked. "Magical Internet, aka MagiNet. You won't find other MagiNets back home."
"Really rolls off the tongue well," Luz said with a grin. "The MagiNet it is, then."
"Gotta make sure it's set for any new NetNavis that we may encounter or create then," Azura said. "Speaking of, how are those Cyber Contacts you're using working?"
"Like a dream," Luz said, turning a corner. "I can see both my surroundings here and in the MagiNet. No distractions to get me from bumping into anything."
"You can do it! You can do this!"
"You hear magical words of encouragement too?" Luz asked.
"Not like from the games," Azura replied. "I think someone is really saying those, but not to us."
"Come on, you got this!"
Luz blinked, turning off the contacts so that she could see clearly in the real world. Making her way to the source of the sound, she saw two girls. One of them had a fair shape with light skin, pointed ears like Eda and Katya, olive green eyes, and short, neat, dark navy-blue hair with a few loose strands. The other one had a dark brown skin tone, eyes with gray irises, the same pointed ears, and pinkish-gray and deep mauve hair that was held up in a ponytail. Both of them wore what appeared to be school uniforms, though while the dark-skinned girl had red leggings and sleeves, the other girl, who seemed to look as if she were struggling with something, had magenta leggings and sleeves.
"Look at her go," Luz said to Azura. "Poor girl. I know just how she feels."
"Yeah, not easy to struggle when your heart isn't in it."
"What makes you say that?" Luz asked.
"Well, I did some research at the Conformatorium, and even before that, about this whole realm," Azura said. "She's part of a magic school, one where everyone is divided into different tracks," she explained as Luz put on one of the contacts to see what Azura was referring to, as well as to zoom in on the two girls. "The girl there in red, she's part of a music-themed degree known as Bard. The one in magenta, that track is called Abomination. They're based on some form of system of government here, but I didn't have time to process all of it before we went to get the crown."
"You're saying that girl looks as if she should go into another track?" Luz asked.
"From what I can tell."
Just then, a cart with a cauldron on it pulled up in front of the two girls. On top of it was a girl with the same magenta-sleeved uniform. She had pale skin, green hair, and a star on her shirt. She was reading a book before looking down and closing it.
"Willow! I almost didn't see you down there." The girl said with an upper-class like tone.
"Guess that's the queen bee of the school." Luz muttered.
"Can you please lay off her, Amity?" the dark-skinned girl asked. "I know you two don't like each other, but you don't always have to push it."
"I'm just saying what everyone thinks, Skara," Amity said as she walked up to Willow, seeing the progress from her own cauldron. "This is why you will be known as Half-a-Witch Willow, and not get to the top like me," she said, flicking the star on her shirt, which actually read Top Student on it. "If you were to get a star, it would be like mine… but not as important." She bragged before walking off. As she did, she spun a circle with her finger, which caused the cauldron to move with her, right past Luz.
"Willow, don't give her the time of day," Skara said. "She and Boscha just like to get under your skin."
"Well, I'm so sick of getting pushed around!" Willow snapped, clenching her fists before opening her eyes, now glowing green. "I'M SICK OF IT ALL!"
"Willow, no!" Skara pleaded, but vines spread from the ground, going out of control.
Luz gasped before seeing some vines appear behind her. She ducked from one of them as they attempted to grab her before taking out a grip. She placed it onto her PET, and two crossguards sprung from the sides, making it look like a sword.
"FireBlade, Battle Chip In, Download!" Luz called out, placing a FireBlade Battle Chip into the grip before swinging the PET out. At that moment, a FireBlade blade sprung out, and it slashed apart the vine. She tried to get the rest, but tripped on a loose root and tumbled behind the two girls, the noise of her falling catching their attention.
Willow turned around first, and upon seeing Luz cornered by the vines, she gasped. "Oh, no! No, no, no, no!" she exclaimed as she and Skara got down to get the vines away from Luz. "I'm so sorry!"
"It's okay," Luz said, putting her Slash Grip and her PET away. "The thorns only went through a few layers of skin."
"That wasn't all that reassuring." Azura commented.
"Who said…?" Willow asked as Skara started to look around, before the former leaned in closer to Luz. "So… circle-y… you're human!" she realized.
"She's a human?" Skara asked.
Luz sighed and stood up. "Yeah, that's me." She said.
"This is astounding! A human on the Boiling Isles!" Willow exclaimed, inspecting Luz all around. "How'd you get here? What are you doing here?"
"Better tell her and her friend to slow down, or else you might overload." Azura teased, getting Willow and Skara to jump again.
"Hey, it's alright," Luz said, taking out her PET, getting the two new witches to go around her to see who she was talking to. "If Lan could handle some celebrity fame, I think I can handle some peer pressure."
"What. Is. That?" Skara asked.
"Oh, this is Azura," Luz said, showing the holographic screen for Willow and Skara to see together. "She's not a minion, but she's not human either. I don't quite know how to properly explain her, but she's like… a sister to me," she said before hearing a bell. "Is that your school bell?"
"Yeah, it is," Willow said before letting out a sigh. "Sorry, I have to go disappoint my teacher."
"Well, that's no way to talk." Luz said before Skara leaned in towards her.
"She's been like this for a while," Skara explained. "Everyone calls her Half-a-Witch Willow for not being able to meet the same standards as other Abomination Track students."
"It was nice meeting you…" Willow started before realizing something. "Sorry, I never learned your name."
"I'm Luz. Luz Noceda," Luz said before showing off Azura again. "And this is Azura."
"Pleasure to meet more witches." Azura said.
"And from what I gathered in that conversation, you're Willow, and this is… Skara, right?" Luz asked, turning to Skara, who shrugged with a playful grin on her face. "Anyways, what you did with those plants was amazing! Why are you in Abominations and not in Plant?" she asked. "Did… did I get that right? I only know about Bard and Abominations. I don't know the others."
"Yeah, that's the basics," Willow said. "But I shouldn't even be doing Plant Magic. My dads said that I would be better with Abominations."
"Have they ever seen what you're going through?" Luz asked.
The only response from Willow and Skara were hesitation, as if they were trying to come up with a proper answer.
"Back where I come from, I know what it's like to not be able to fit in. To not belong, and to want to be somewhere else where I am more comfortable," Luz said. "This school of yours… don't they care about how other students feel, and if they're being treated right?"
"Hexside? Yeah," Skara said. "Principal Bump always makes sure the wellbeing of all students comes first."
"Then he should know about what you two are going through!" Luz exclaimed.
"Well, I'm a good friend of Willow," Skara said. "I used to be friends with the lead Potions student, Boscha, but broke things off with her. She was getting too… extreme for me to follow around."
"It took a while for me to trust Skara, but she's been great support for me," Willow said. "Still, it's just me who's struggling. I doubt there's even a way for me to get a passing grade."
"Well, you'll never know until you try," Luz said. "Come on, I can go with you. I've always wanted to check out a magic school myself, after all."
"I'm not sure…" Willow said, only for Luz to put a hand on her shoulder.
"Where does your heart say you belong? Does your principal really care about everyone's wellbeing?" Luz asked.
Willow looked to Luz for a moment before smiling. "You're right," she said. "Let's go."
"Ah, a school," ShadeMan said, observing from the MagiNet. "Not only a place for meddling kids to get in our way… but a place full of knowledge. Go check it out." He ordered.
Soon, Willow and Skara brought Luz towards a large brick structure, white walls stretched out with towers standing up.
"Quite the eye-catcher here." Luz noted.
"Welcome to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics." Willow said.
"Sure looks…" Azura started before feeling something. She gasped and turned around, getting Luz to appear on a screen, pulling out her PET. "Is someone there?"
"Azura? Azura, what's wrong?" Luz asked as she, Skara and Willow made their way inside.
"Something's wrong," Azura said as other students either stopped to gaze at Luz or minded their own business. "Wait… it's a virus! No, multiple viruses!"
"Viruses?" Willow asked.
"What's she talking about?" Skara chimed in.
At that moment, several Viruses emerged. However, instead of digitizing into the real world, they seemed to flash in from magic circles, all a tainted yellow color. Everyone looked to them in awe before several Swordy Viruses slashed ahead, getting them to run.
"What the—?" Amity asked from nearby before the Abomination Teacher pulled her into the room for safety.
"Everything's too tight for a CrossFusion fight, it would cause too much damage," Luz said to herself, looking around. "No telling what effects the Battle Chip Gate might cause too."
"Time to pull out our next grip, then." Azura suggested.
"Good idea," Luz said before turning to Willow and Skara. "I got this, don't worry."
"What do you plan to do?" Skara asked.
Luz stepped towards the Viruses and whistled. "Hello, boys," she said, getting their attention, causing them to turn to her as she pulled out a grip that resembled a trigger handle. "You seem lost," she went on, tossing her PET into the air. Everyone looked to it twirl before she held up her grip, attaching it. "Anyone care to leave? Or should we do this the hard way?"
Several Bunny Viruses pulled their heads back and shot electricity at Luz, but she aimed her PET out, sending forth several blasts that cancelled them out.
"My turn," Luz said. "You had your chance!" she called before running forward.
The rest of the Viruses charged in as well, but Luz took out a Battle Chip and placed it into the bottom of the grip.
"MarkCannon, Battle Chip In, Download!" Luz called out before aiming her Progress PET out again. Several blasts were sent, each homing in on the Viruses, before she leapt into the air and pulled the trigger. Extra blasts came out, each targeting the specified Viruses, before she landed again, taking out another Battle Chip. "Spreader, Download!" she called out, firing at several more Viruses.
Seventeen more Viruses were taken out, but the Swordys deflected them and AreaStole at Luz. She gasped and backflipped away, shooting at them, before finding herself against a wall.
"Luz!" Willow called out. She ran forward and held out her hands, causing several vines to sprout up and impale half of the Swordys.
"Let me have a go too!" Skara called out, running beside Willow. Placing two fingers to her mouth, she let out a melodic whistle, Deleting several more Viruses, before Luz took the chance to shoot down the last of the Swordys.
"You're stronger than I thought!"
"Huh?" Luz asked, turning to see someone in the shadows. They remained hidden in the darkness, but their Navi Crest was glowing, which caught the attention of Willow and Skara.
"The Potions Coven?" Willow asked.
"Looks like we'll do this dance again later." The newcomer said before digitizing away, but unlike in the Human Realm, instead of going out through pixels, a magic circle took him away.
"Azura… was that… a NetNavi?" Luz asked.
"If so, it looks like he's not the welcoming committee." Azura said.
"Look over the battle, and tell me what you find later." Luz said.
"I'm on it." Azura said, digitizing to her homepage while Luz put her Shot Grip away.
"Well, that was certainly something."
Luz turned to try and find the source of the voice while Willow and Skara gulped.
Approaching the three was an elderly man, with what appeared to be a creature covering his head, save for his eyes, nose and mouth. He had dark robes, as well as blue and white cloth going around his neck to his ankles. He had long black nails, and walked in a hunched manner.
"Principal Bump!" Willow exclaimed before stepping up. "We can explain…"
"I certainly hope so," Principal Bump said, smiling at Willow. "Willow Park, when I was told about certain abuse directed at you from others, I thought it was very suspicious. I have watched you struggle with Abominations, but when it came to Plant Magic, I started to see your talents lied… elsewhere."
"That's something I was hoping to talk to you about, Sir," Luz said. "I'm not from here, but I know a struggling student when I see one. I feel that, while Willow's fathers put her in the Abominations Track, she is much better suited for Plants instead."
"From your actions in that fight have shown, I can clearly see that," Principal Bump said. "Willow, I will handle your schedule, and you will meet with me later today. For now, I give you this," he said, spinning a spell circle with his finger. As soon as he did, a gold star that read SCHOOL SAVIOR appeared on Willow's shirt, as well as Skara's. "Consider this extra credit, and my personal thanks for taking care of those."
"Might I help explain myself to you too?" Luz asked politely.
"Quite the manners, I'm impressed," Principal Bump mused. "Let us talk in my office, I'm sure we have much to discuss."
Back at the Owl House, Eda was continuing to go over the Battle Chips, just as Luz had told her to. As she was, she placed some of them in piles, where notes were written about each one of them.
"You know, I didn't think you were the type to grow attached to doing this," King said as he walked over onto the table. "I haven't even seen you go and try and take a cup of Apple Blood yet."
"Luz is bringing something really interesting to us, King," Eda said. "When I met her, I expected quite a quirky girl who would be both nice and make some mistakes along the way. But when we started to work with her, and get to know her—"
"You saw someone else," King finished up, before looking to the Battle Chips. "That LifeSword looks like it can come in handy. And I'd love to see how you can handle that HyperBurst combo too."
"Yeah, if this adds to the power I already have, we can never have to worry about getting attacked ever again, so I'm not wasting anything with what Luz offers," Eda said, writing down some more notes. "If she could take out Wrath and his cronies with just five of these Battle Chips, I'm more than willing to try my hand when it comes for me to do that fusion crossing thing she does."
"Actually, it's CrossFusion." Hooty said, stretching himself into the house.
"Hooty, just keep watch in case we get any guests," Eda said before stopping to realize something. "You ever see where Luz went off to anyway?"
Hooty blinked for a few minutes in silence before speaking again.
"I can't point, but I can redirect the weather vane. I think I heard some kind of fighting from that direction."
"What a wonderful companion you have here, Ms. Noceda," Principal Bump said back at Hexside, looking Azura over on Luz's PET. As soon as all of the specs were shown, he handed the device back to her. "And thank you for bringing the needs of Ms. Park to my attention as well. I was going to ask her to show me her prowess in Plant Magic, but after what I saw today against those Virus creatures, I can safely say that her future will be in better hands. Thank you again for fighting them off."
"To be honest, I'm not too sure how they got here in the first place," Luz said, taking back her Progress PET. "When Azura and I first got here, we didn't find any other NetNavi or a Virus of any sort. The MagiNet was empty from what she saw."
"You refer to the dimensional plane that Ms. Exe resides in?" Principal Bump asked.
"Yes, that's what we call it," Luz said. "If they're starting to show up now, and with who I saw before you came along, then this realm might not be completely safe. At least, as far as I know."
"Still, your newfound friendship with Ms. Park and Ms. Capella is something I would hate to divide," Principal Bump said. "And you said your mentor is Eda the Owl Lady?"
"Please, I know she's wanted, but I don't want her in any more danger than she knows she's in," Luz said. "If the Emperor's Coven asks for some sort of report, please don't mention her."
"I am not a snitch. You have my word that once the entrance exams come, you will not be harmed, same as your mentor."
Luz chuckled nervously. "I, uh… I don't recall saying anything about enrolling here." She said.
"You would make a fine student, and the first human to teach here," Principal Bump said with a smile as he and Luz walked out of the office. "We would, of course, have to find out which classes you would take, but I promise they won't affect anything that Ms. Clawthorne is already teaching you. I did find her to be both troublesome and promising when she was here, after all."
"Eda was a student here?" Luz asked as several students stopped to wave to Luz.
"Thanks for the save!"
"I'm sure she will tell you all about it when she comes," Principal Bump said with a chuckle, finally coming into a cafeteria, where Willow and Skara were sitting with a male witch, one with dark skin, black hair with sideburns, and wearing light-blue sleeves and pants. He turned to the three. "Ms. Park, as of today…" he started out before spinning a spell circle, turning Willow's clothes to green, to the joy of others with the same green colors around them. "You are now a part of the Plant Track. I wish you well in your new courses."
All of the surrounding Plant Track students cheered at this, while the younger male witch looked to Luz with awe while joining in the applause.
"So, what were you saying with Eda finding me?" Luz asked, clapping along as well.
"Trust me, if I know Edalyn, she would come here and fight through all my guards to get to any student within these walls… or at least within an inch of this academy." Principal Bump said, chuckling again, before walking away.
"You must be the new human that Willow and Skara told me about," the new male witch said as he approached Luz. He held out his hand as Skara smiled. "I'm Augustus."
"Where I come from, we call anyone named Augustus just Gus." Luz said, shaking Gus's hand.
"Gus… I like it!" Gus said with a smile.
"So, how did it all go?" Skara asked as Gus sat back down.
"And do humans really put barbed wires on their children's teeth?" Gus asked, showing off a magazine with a kid with braces.
Luz raised an eyebrow before turning to Willow.
"Gus here leads the HAS, the Human Appreciation Society," Willow explained. "It's a growing club, but he likes to know all there is about humans."
"Just like we want to know all about this place too." Azura commented.
"Is that the Navi thing that you guys told me about?" Gus asked.
"Yeah, her name is Azura," Luz said. "Now, in alphabetical order, they're called braces, and are used for straightening teeth," she said, directing herself at Gus before turning to Skara. "And I think I might be enrolling here later on. Just gotta make sure Eda approves first."
"If you can try to get us Navis too, that would be great!" Skara said.
"I'll see what I can do," Luz said before seeing Amity come over. "It's that other girl… what did she say her name was?" she asked as Willow, Gus and Skara turned to face Luz's line of sight.
"Amity." Willow said, crossing her arms and standing up as Amity approached.
"You did… good out there, Willow," Amity said with a bit of hesitation before turning to Luz. "So, you're the human who led them in saving us?" she asked.
"I saw someone in need, and wanted to help out." Luz simply said as she put her PET away.
"Why bother?" Amity asked. "Why put them before yourself?"
"Because any honest and decent person will tell you that it's the right thing to do, and not want to see them getting pushed around like the others," Luz replied back. "Let me ask… have you ever made the right call with someone before thinking of yourself?"
Amity prepared to open her mouth again, but found herself without an answer. Luz waited for her before the high-class witch nodded at her. "I look forward to seeing what you can do." She said before walking away.
"Same here." Luz said, nodding back.
Suddenly, the sound of thunder was heard. Everyone outside noticed and ran inside immediately, the cafeteria starting to slowly become crowded.
"Ooh, don't want to be out there when the rain hits." Willow said.
"Is this the kind of rain you don't want to dance in?" Azura asked.
"Not sure why anyone dances in boiling rain, but you'd better get home," Willow said. "I'm sure your mentor, being the Owl Lady, cares about your wellbeing."
"How long until a storm usually hits?" Luz asked.
"Give or take fifteen minutes after some thunder like that," Skara said. "Go on. If we come across you again, we'd love to hang out."
"And maybe share some more human facts?" Gus asked hopefully.
"You bet!" Luz said before running to the door. "See ya!" she called, waving to her three new friends, who waved back.
From afar, as Luz ran out, Amity watched, seeing Eda run up and grab her without a second thought.
"When was that last time?" Amity asked. "It feels so long ago… but you…" she went on, looking to Eda with Luz over her shoulder, seeming to talk to someone despite Eda's mouth not moving. "You're an interesting one."
Eda and Luz soon arrived back at the Owl House. As soon as they got close, the Owl Lady tossed Luz in front of her and sent two spell circles. Both of them created an energy slide that she landed on, landing inside, before she turned around, striking a three-point landing. As soon as she did, she got up and began to make more spell circles while Luz got up, King helping her up.
"So, the Boiling Isles has boiling rain?" Luz asked. "Somehow, it didn't occur to me for sounding like too obvious a weather here."
"Oh we get worse other than rain," King said as he and Luz watched Eda work her literal magic. "You won't see them as much as this, though."
"You looked happy to see me," Eda said, now walking back. "Let me guess, Bumpy enrolled you?"
"You're taking this better than I thought," Luz said before seeing an energy dome set around the Owl House, just as the rain started. However, instead of hitting the Owl House, it pattered against the dome. "Protection spell?"
"Only against boiling rain," Eda confirmed. "I looked over all the Battle Chips, in case you're wondering."
"And I see you were busy too," Luz said, looking over all of the notes that Eda made. "I'm impressed. Lan and Kim would be proud."
"Well, I am the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles. Gotta keep up to my name," Eda said with a chuckle. "How's my PET?"
Luz reached for the floating Scroll that she left and looked to it. "It's all done," she said, handing it to Eda. "Wow, the first new PET not from my realm. And it looks great!"
Said new PET was made from Eda's Scroll. On the right side of it was a grip guard that resembled the ones from the Advanced PET, with the PET logo on the top of the screen. The Battle Chip Slot was at the bottom, and a Navi Crest that showed the shape of an owl was on the bottom of the screen.
"Let me check something," Eda said, letting the new PET float before swiping her finger on the screen. "Still got access to Penstagram, thank goodness," she noted before seeing new features come up, all on the home screen of usual PETs. "And a lot of new stuff too. You've got a hand for advancement, Luz."
"Guess you're the first who gets a Boiling Isles exclusive PET," Luz said. "New type, made from a Scroll… I think the name of the first Scroll PET will work just fine here."
"Simple, yet gets the message across, I like it," Eda said before stretching her arms. "Now, I haven't forgotten about our promise. I need to rest, but I'll teach you how to create…" she started before snapping her fingers, getting orbs of light to appear all around and scatter like stars across a night sky. "Light!"
Azura popped up from the holographic screen from Luz's PET. "Let me see too!" she begged excitedly. "I want to record this whole session!"
"Settle down and sit down, you two," Eda said, chuckling as she guided Luz to the main living room. "Now, take a look at what I do," she said as Luz placed her PET beside her, with King on the other side, all while Azura recorded her making a circle with her finger. "The spell circle is what all witches use when making magic of any kind. The effectiveness of the spell will depend on how big or small you make it, but it takes concentration to get any spell right," she started out. "Just picture what you want, and…" she went on before creating a massive ball of light from a large spell circle. "Bam!"
"Whoa…" Luz said in awe, stars in her eyes. "So… how would a human like me…"\
"And a NetNavi like me…" Azura continued.
"Do magic like that?"
Eda tapped her finger on her chin before turning back to her two apprentices. "Where do you think magic comes from?" she asked.
"From… the heart?" Luz guessed, but blushed at how corny it sounded to her.
"Don't look like that, you're right," Eda said, reaching for her hair to pull out a chart. "Witches have a sac of bile attached to their hearts. But sadly, I don't know how humans could achieve a level of magic without one."
"You don't?" Luz asked.
"This would have been useful!" Azura exclaimed.
"I know there were others who did magic differently, but I don't remember how," Eda confessed. "But knowing the bond you two have with each other, I'm sure you'll figure something out."
"Thanks, Eda," Luz said as Azura finished recording. As she was about to replay the video, she turned back to her witch teacher. "Why do people call you the Owl Lady?" she asked.
"Because I'm so wise." Eda said, though there was a hint of hesitation with her answer before she gave it.
"Or because she coughs up rat bones." Hooty joked.
"Or because she's attracted to shiny objects, like this." King said, taking out a pen with a diamond at the end, which he clicked, causing it to glow.
"Ooh, it sparkles and shimmers. It shines and delights!" Eda said, her irises going thin and her pupils going wide. "I must add it to my nest!" she proclaimed in a soft obsessive tone. She tried to pounce for it, but King simply moved out of the way.
"She has a nest?" Luz asked. "Wow, she's committed to the title."
"Nah, it's a real nest," Eda said before letting out a yawn. "It happened a long… time…" she went on before stopping.
"Eda?" Luz asked, walking over. As she got down to Eda, she heard snoring coming from her. "Wow, out like a light."
"Let's get her up to the nest," King said before handing Luz one of the Battle Chips she left behind. "I looked over some of what you had too. Try this Poltergeist."
"Which can control any object or person in a battle," Luz concluded. "You and Eda really are learning!" she praised before slotting it into her Battle Chip Gate. "Poltergeist, Battle Chip In, Download!"
Eda soon levitated, allowing for King to guide Luz to the Owl Lady's room, controlling the floating witch.
Arriving in the room, Luz saw that there was indeed a nest placed in the middle of the room.
"That looks… uncomfortable." Luz commented.
"Yeah, it does," Azura said in the MagiNet, observing through a crystal ball on Eda's desk. "But I'm sure Eda is known as the Owl Lady for a reason."
"Don't worry, she's been through worse, like when Wrath cut off her head!" King reassured before smacking his hand against her nose. "Bap! You see?"
"I guess you're right," Luz said before King hopped on her shoulder while Azura returned to the PET. "Anything you can teach me, your highness?" she playfully asked.
"Well, I can't teach about magic, but you should know a few things about the demons here…" King started as Eda softly let out a growl in her sleep.
"These here are all the known demons of the Demon Realm," King said downstairs, showing Luz and Azura a chart of different demons, which included a giraffe like Eda said on their first flight together. "Some of them look like the ones on your Battle Chips, but none are more dangerous than…" he started before using his pointer stick to direct the two's attention to a creature that resembled a large armadillo. "The Snaggleback!"
"And what do they do?" Luz asked.
"As far as I know, they have shells tougher than diamonds, and can survive boiling rain," King said. "They're the most deadly I've ever known in this realm. No one else has seen one, but I know that whenever it rains, it might be preparing to attack a vulnerable poor witch's home!"
"Hoot!"
"That was a loud crash," Luz said as King and Azura turned before the lights flickered until turning off. "Is this normal?"
"Hooty controls everything here, so if the lights went off…"
"Hooty!" Luz realized, running to the front door with King right behind her.
"There he is!" Azura exclaimed as they all reached Hooty, who was lying on the ground, eyes closed.
Luz got close and opened one of his eyes. "He's just out cold," she said with relief before looking out. "Eda's protection barrier is solid, right?"
"Yeah, no one is able to penetrate it." King confirmed.
"We'd better go check on her," Luz said. "With Hooty out cold, she could be vulnerable," she said before slotting several Recovery Chips into the Battle Chip Gate, all taking an effect on Hooty. "Those should help heal him until he wakes up. Now come on!"
As Luz and King made their way upstairs, they heard some loud thuds on the way. Turning a corner to the hall leading to Eda's room, they noticed scratches on the walls.
"Something got in?!" King exclaimed in surprise.
"Eda, wake up!" Luz called out as they approached Eda's room. However, the door was open, and Eda was gone, with the window of her room cracked. "What the—?!" she exclaimed before aiming her PET at Eda's crystal ball. "Check everything that was monitored!" she ordered, Jacking Azura into the system.
As soon as Azura digitized in, she went to the main system. "I'm not picking anything up yet, but I do see movement through the cameras we set up before our first night here," she said. "Go and check it out. I'll give you a ping if I find anything."
"This is perfect!" King exclaimed, riding on Luz's shoulder as she ran downstairs.
"What's the bright side you see here?" Luz asked.
"It's a perfect chance to teach you more about demons!" King explained. "I mean, you could have learned about them in a worse way. Imagine if a shapeshifting demon told you that you were a chosen one, and led you on a Titan-forsaken quest only to kill you?"
"Yeah, I can't be conned," Luz said before hearing more thuds. As soon as they stopped, they saw more scratched on the walls. She placed her hand to one of them. "Same as the ones we saw on the way to Eda's room… but newer."
"Whatever was here made these." King said.
As Luz went on, she saw a slip of paper on the ground, with a tear at the end. She picked it up and read, "An elixir a day k…?"
"Eda has a lot of elixirs around. She is a specialist when it comes to Potion Magic, after all." King explained.
"But what's the other half? Kills? Keeps? And what is it referring to?" Luz wondered, setting it down. "There's got to be the rest of the message around here somewhere."
All of a sudden, a large clawed hand punched through the wall. Luz and King stumbled back, Luz reaching for her Slash Grip before attaching it onto her PET. Soon, a large winged creature appeared, and started to sniff around.
"Got anything on that one, teach?" Luz asked.
"It's new to me." King admitted.
"We don't call other creatures 'it', that makes me uncomfortable." Luz reprimanded before the creature heard the two.
"ElectroSword, Battle Chip In!" Luz called out, placing an ElectroSword into the grip before holding it out. The light from it blinded the creature, giving Luz and King time to run to the nearest room, where a small garden was. The garden was exposed, a roof not present above it. Seeing it as a place to hide, the two went behind before turning around, Luz switching the Slash Grip for the Shot Grip.
"Wait, what's this?" King asked, seeing something stuck in Luz's shoe.
"I knew I felt something when we got jump-scared." Luz said. She slipped her shoe off, and another paper slip, which also had a tear on it, fell out.
King picked it up and read it. "PS the Curse at bay?" he read before Luz realized something. She took out the first slip she found and handed it to King, putting the two together.
"An Elixir A Day Keeps The Curse At Bay!"
"What curse?" Luz asked. "You mean that creature is… Eda?!"
The giant owl beast crashed into the room, sniffing around. When Luz and King peeked to look at their face, it indeed showed to resemble a monstrous version of Eda's face.
"Azura, return!" Luz whispered, pressing the Navi Crest on her PET, taking Azura out of Eda's crystal ball network.
"Azura, Logging Out."
"Catch me up." Azura said, now back in the PET.
"Some kind of curse turned Eda into the creature that's attacking!" King whispered. "But I got a close look at her face when she turned."
"And…?" Luz asked.
"She's got black eyes," King went on as Eda snarled away from them. He took out a book and opened it up to a page on creatures with black eyes. "Any demon with black eyes are affected by light. We get her to see a light, and we can get her back into the nest and sipping through elixirs until she turns back!"
"Well, my swords are out of the question. I don't want to hurt her or Hooty." Luz said.
"And I guess we need to save up on using the Gun Del Sol Chips too," Azura said. "Those ones take longer to recharge than the others."
"Maybe a light from your PET?" King suggested.
"It's not bright enough," Luz said. "And I can't do magic like Eda can," she went on, making imaginary circles with her finger before pressing the video recording. "How can I do this, Eda?" she asked, playing the video.
"The spell circle is what all witches use when making magic of any kind. The effectiveness of the spell will depend on how big or small you make it, but it takes—"
The recording seemed to glitch as Eda made her spell circle. Once it paused on the formation of the circle, Luz saw something.
"What's that?" Luz asked.
"What is it? I don't see anything." Azura said.
"King, the pen," Luz said, motioning for the pen, which King handed over. She grabbed a leaf from the plant behind her and placed it over her PET. "It looks like… this!"
Luz had drawn a symbol of a full circle with a wide triangle and a smaller circle near the top. A line went right down the middle from the smaller circle, and another triangle touched the circle's sides with two little diagonal slashes in the middle.
Luz tapped it, and all of a sudden, the symbol floated up before turning into an orb of light.
Luz and King looked to it with wonder, the former placing her hands underneath it, before it floated up. Looking to the barrier, they even saw the light reflecting off of its surface before fading away.
"Whoa…" Azura said in the MagiNet before seeing the symbol appear in front of her. She pressed it curiously, and it zipped to one of the monitors, now glowing in and out. "That's new."
"We'll figure it out later," Luz said. "Right now, I've got an idea. King, get Eda's attention. Lead her to me, and I'll take care of the rest. Just give me some drawing stuff."
Downstairs in the living room, Eda was sniffing around. She came across Hooty and walked across her, but heard a clicking sound before she could get the chance to go out. Turning around, she saw King with the same diamond pen from before.
"You want this?" King challenged. "Come and take it!"
Eda roared and ran after King, who made his way upstairs. However, while he was making his way around a corner, he turned into the room nearby, leaving Eda to see Luz, having drawn out a larger version of the glyph she had found.
"This is for your own good, Eda! Follow the light!" Luz called out, jumping off of the ladder and kicking the symbol. A large flash of light came from it, blinding Eda as she screeched.
Luz walked to Eda and placed her hand on her, letting out a relieved sigh. However, she felt something, and pulled into her hand a gem necklace, which seemed to have a darkness spreading across its golden color. Turning back to Eda's monster form, an idea came to her.
Hours later, Eda woke up, now back in her nest. She looked at herself and noticed feathers on her while a straw was in her mouth. Quickly, she sipped the elixir she saw the other end of the straw attached to, and the feathers, as well as the black eye she still had, went away.
"What happened?" Eda asked before throwing something up. Looking to it, an owl pellet appeared, and from it came a smaller version of the Snaggleback that King had shown to Luz.
"When did I eat you?"
"When you turned into a beast."
Eda turned and saw Luz with multiple light orbs above her. She drew two more glyphs to create more while King brought over elixirs.
"How are you…?"
"It was in the spell circle that I recorded you make," Azura explained from her screen. "And for some reason, there's one here that seems to not want to go away."
"How are you?" Luz asked.
"Could be worse," Eda said. "But look at you, doing magic! Guess both Hexside and I taught you a lot."
"Thanks, but I repeat… what's going on?"
Eda sighed. She knew this would come eventually, but did not figure it would be the day after she had found Luz. Taking a deep breath, she made her decision, and began to talk.
"Sometime, long ago, when I was your age, I was cursed," Eda explained. "Happened right out of the blue. I was leaving a place and I suddenly felt a pain. I transformed into what attacked you… the Owl Beast."
"How did it happen?" King asked.
"That I'm still trying to figure out, but I don't have an answer yet," Eda said. "All I know is that if I don't take my elixir regularly, well… you see why I'm known as the Owl Lady."
"Can't we cure you of it?" Luz asked with a hopeful tone, as if she knew something.
"Run into some dead ends there, but…" Eda started before she and King realized the way Luz spoke. "What are you playing at, Kid?"
Luz took out Eda's Scroll PET and handed it to her. As soon as she did, the remaining darkness in the gemmed necklace disappeared, now forming something on the screen.
"Whoa, what happened?" Eda asked.
"When I checked on you after knocking you out, I felt this, and noticed it was dark just like your beast eyes," Luz explained. "I put together a theory. That will turn dark whenever the beast starts to come out, right?"
"Well, that conversation for later is sooner than I thought," Eda commented. "Yeah, that's right. I gotta make sure it stays in its golden state as long as I can. But what does that have to do with whatever showed up on my PET?"
"I placed the Extension Chip on it, and connected it with your Scroll PET," Luz started to explain. "And sure enough, as soon as you were drinking that elixir, the darkness from your necklace went bit by bit into here, manifesting some of the Owl Beast into what I can only assume will become your official NetNavi," she said. "It's not a cure, but it abates the symptoms, and will save me the trouble of creating a normal Navi for you from scratch."
"So my Owl Beast becomes my NetNavi?" Eda asked in amazement, seeing a body start to slowly form, before it stopped. She looked to her amulet and noticed all the darkness stopped spreading. "Thanks, Luz," she sincerely said with a smile. "This means a lot."
"But it won't keep the curse away forever," Luz said. "I recommend still taking your elixirs regularly, but let some of the beast make their way into your PET. They're linked together, so whatever happens with the beast is able to shape your new NetNavi."
"Will they have a name by the time they form?" Eda asked.
"They always do," Luz said. "It's the least I can do for my teacher."
Eda chuckled, patting Luz on the head. "You always know how to turn a day around." She said.
"When the time comes, I'll also give you one of these," Luz said, taking out a small case of Synchro Chips. "You'll know when that is."
"Hoot! Hoot! Hello? Anybody there?!" Hooty called out, getting everyone to turn while King's eyebrow seemed to twitch. "All I see is the floor! It's cold down here!"
"That voice! That dreadful voice!" King complained.
"Rest up, we've got this," Luz said to Eda. A few seconds passed between them before Luz reached in to hug her witch teacher. "I'm just glad you're alright."
Eda was surprised by this, but eventually returned the hug. "Me too, kiddo. Me too."
"Now, let's get Hooty back on his hinges," Luz said, walking behind King before picking up the Snaggleback. "And let's get you patched up too, while we're at it."
"I think my tail was digested… or my pelvis." The Snaggleback said.
"Now I don't have a replacement for one of those, and you know which one I'm talking about."
Eda smiled at Luz before turning back to rest again. "She really is something wonderful," she said to herself as she looked to her PET. "Can't wait to see what you turn out to be, new friend," she said with a smile. It lessened as she closed her eyes, trying to rest again. "Who was it who did this to me? What did I do? Why did you do it?" she asked herself. Sighing, she let herself fall asleep.
Later on, after Hooty was placed back on the door and the Snaggleback left, Luz was looking at the light glyph that made its way into her PET. The first glyph she had made, and it was literally something that was not going to go away any time soon.
"What are you?" Luz asked, looking it over. She opened up her laptop and attached her PET into the port. She tried to transfer it over, but it would not work.
"It's still glowing," Azura said as Luz placed her contacts on, now appearing next to Azura to look at the light glyph. "What do you suggest?"
"We could place it on a Chip like Mama said Lan would do each time he gets a new DoubleSoul," Luz suggested. "But I think there's more to this than we know."
"Whatever it is, it's giving me a strange but welcoming feeling," Azura said. "Let's see how this all plays out."
In the dark corners of the MagiNet, at the new castle, the new Darkloid from before returned. Now in full view, he had cannons over his arms that resembled potion flasks, and a helmet that let out dreadlocks resembling tentacles. He bowed, and ShadeMan appeared on the throne.
"You have returned."
"Master ShadeMan, I have not taken action against the human apprentice of the Owl Lady, but I know a way for you to gain more power," the Darkloid said before showing a screen. "It's called the Covention, and the most powerful witch will be there, with a sigil for the taking."
"Very good, GrandeurMan," ShadeMan said. "This realm shall know what threat they face, and we Darkloids shall rule once again!"
