Fear of Demonoid Making and Shadow Devil Prince Origin
It has been only one day since news of a demonoid attack happening within the kingdom and Shin was the one who took him down, words of his deeds have been spreading fast reaching everyone's ears.
Including the ear one of dark presence sneaking in the magic school, such as Mr. Schtron.
"Well then, I guess I will consider the experiment a success for now. More importantly…" Schtron looked down seeing Shin being deep in thoughts.
"I better leave now before the Headmistress sense me. Wouldn't want any trouble with her, not yet at least." Schtron said before he vanished from the spot he was standing on.
In the classroom, Shin let out a sigh still thinking about Kurt suddenly becoming a demonoid as there was a theory he thought of during the battle.
"What's wrong?" August asked getting Shin's attention.
"Don't tell me the sudden hero status is wearing you out already." August wondered he can tell that Shin was deep in his mind.
"Yeah, maybe a little from what you told the guards yesterday." Shin recalled.
(Yesterday)
"Shin, things are going to get rough for you from here on out." August said.
"I guess so." Shin responded.
"In our whole history, two demonoids have attacked us, and you bested one of them just like that. This'll be a huge story." August stated.
"He is right, this will truly be something you'll have to prepare yourself for." Irene agreed.
"Your highness." A royal guard called out as he and his squadron arrive in the scene.
"It looks like the message I sent did arrived after all." Irene said.
"Are you alright, we received word from Headmistress Irene that a demonoid just attacked the school. Did you see where that fiend went?" The royal guard asked.
"His corpse is lying right there." August pointed at Kurt's corpse and the guards became shocked.
"Hold on. Are you saying that you brought it down, your Highness?" The captain of the royal guard asked.
"No, I only helped retrained the beast." August said shook his head before looking directly at the guards.
"All of you listen up, bear witness by me and others here. The demonoid was slain by him!" August revealed, pointing at Shin.
"Shin Wolford! Grandson of the Wise Man!" August said loudly.
"I can vouch for the prince as I also saw the battle." Irene raised her hand a little.
It only took a few seconds for the Royal guards to register of what Prince August just said and they shouted in cheers for the country's new hero.
"Huh, thanks guys, but I really don't—" Shin shocked in nervous of all this cheering while August just chuckles.
(Present)
"Well, you did say things would get rough for me." Shin said.
"Indeed, I did, but there is something else on your mind as well." August noticed before talking to Shin.
"You're right on the money, something has been bothering me." Shin said and his classmates listen in closely.
"Is it that easy to become a demonoid?" Shin asked.
"You're right." August said understanding what he is asking.
"Yes, Juvia think Juvia see it too." Juvia said looking serious.
"What? What? What's easy?" Alice confused of what they are talking about.
"You know the previous demonoid? He was a strong magician. They say he messed up while casting advanced magic, and apparently that's how he demonized." Thor explained about the previous demonoid.
"But Kurt Rietsburg… He had just barely enrolled in the academy. At worst, if he lost control of his spell, he would over-throttle, but to go full demonoid all the sudden is not natural." August stated.
"Well, he did, and the whole thing was pretty crazy." Maria recalled how scary Kurt was.
"Juvia was scared of that, but something wasn't right with Kurt becoming demonoid just like that." Juvia snapped her fingers.
"Do you think… maybe this was artificially induced?" Shin asked.
"You mean someone did this to him?" Lynn asked shock.
"According to grandpa, demonoids loses all sense of reason. They can't communicate, they can only howl like wild beasts, but I'm sure you guys heard more than howls." Shin reminded them.
"That's right, Kurt definitely spoke in words like a person despite becoming demonoid." Julius remembered.
"That really scary, imagine if a person became demonoid but fully aware of his or her actions." Yuri stated.
"Yeah, and when it came to actually combat, he was a little weak like the way he attacks were just clumsy and not focus." Shin pointed out.
"(A demonoid is weak?)" Most of the S-Class students thought deadpanned.
"Well, Kurt always bragged about having focus and control of his magic, he even showed off to us a while back just to prove his point." August recalled.
"Something about this doesn't add up." Shin said.
"Hey, what if Kurt was used in some kind of human experiment?" Shin asked shocking his classmates.
"Ah! Juvia just remember, my mother actually mentioned something like this to Juvia and Erza during dinner one night before Kurt suddenly attacked." Juvia mentioned.
"For real?" Shin asked shock.
"Yes, it was after she had a meeting with the King and council of the kingdom. She warned us about there might be someone trying to turn a person into a demonoid and believed that someone was gonna used Kurt for that." Juvia explained.
"And it looks like she was right on the mark but was too late." Tony said.
"Hey, don't say it like that!" Alice pouted at the pretty boy.
"Sorry, I was just calling as I see it." Tony apologized.
"Well, it's a good thing I'm not the only one who thought of the same theory, but I wish we could have prevented that from happening somehow." Shin said feeling ashamed of himself, then felt a hand touch his shoulder as he looks up seeing that it's Sizilien.
"Shin, you did everything you could and what's important is that everyone is okay and maybe Kurt can reflect on his actions in the afterlife." Sizilien believed.
"Sizilien." Shin surprised to hear her say such kind and encouraging words.
"She's right, we just got to move forward with our heads up high and other strong words that comes with it." Maria winked.
"Not to mention you have us now, so you won't be facing the hardship alone." August added with a confident smile as the others agreed.
"Aw, thanks you guys." Shin smiled.
"Now August, I believe it's about time you explain to us exactly how do you have a Slayer magic like having the strength of a devil?" Shin asked, wanting to know right now.
"I did say I would explain this to you all soon." August chuckled.
"Goes back to about five years age when I was just a little boy, I was in the courtyard playing a ball game with Thor and Julius though back then Thor used to be such a sore loser." August started his story.
"Hey, I wasn't that bad!" Thor proclaimed.
"I don't know, Thor, you've always complained about losing just when it looked like you were about win." Julius grinned.
"That's right, I even remember you almost backing out from a bet we made after you lost." August teased with memories.
"No, please don't say anything about that! It was embarrassing and still is the more I remember it!" Thor blushed of embarrassment.
"Whoa, just what kind of bet was it that is making him look so red?" Lynn asked.
"Nothing! Nothing for you all to listen!" Thor said quickly.
"It was to kiss this older woman he had a crush on for some time." August answered without any shame in himself.
"NO! Your highness, why?!" Thor cried and dropped to his knees.
"Seriously, you made him kiss an older woman?" Shin glared at August.
"What? He needed a lesson in being brave with his feelings to a girl, and the girl was only five years older than him." August shrugged.
"(That would mean she must have been fifteen back then.)" Shin thought realized.
"Can we please get back to the part of how Prince August got his Slayer power." Thor begged.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, just wanted to lighten up the mood since Shin was being a little negative back there." August chuckled.
"Back to the story, we were just playing our game without a care in the world until suddenly something fell from the sky." August started to remember that moment.
(Flashback)
Little August is playing ball on the courtyard with little Julius and Thor bouncing balls toward each other and sharing some laughs.
"Here it comes, Thor!" Julius said before bouncing the ball toward the glasses wearing boy.
"I got it, I got it, I got it!" Thor said moving around a little to try catching the ball.
"Here you go, Prince August!" Thor tossed the ball to August.
"Okay, I'm going to sent it even higher!" August excited to catch the ball.
However, August spotted something in the sky that made him miss the ball as it touches the ground bouncing a couple of times and the two friends notice that was odd of the prince didn't catch the ball as he should have.
"Prince August, why did you miss the ball?" Thor asked.
"There's a star in the sky." August pointed up.
Thor and Julius look up seeing where August is pointing at sky to see a bright little star soaring high and fast, the three little boys are amazes of the star suddenly showing up and wanted to if it's a wishing star and try making their own.
However, August look at the star again to notice something odd with it as he could have sworn that it appeared to be coming closer to them and he gets a bad feeling about it.
"Guys, I think the star is getting closer." August warned.
"Huh?" Julius and Thor confused of what the prince just said.
August saw the star is in fact getting closer and realization of fear it's coming straight to them which could be very bad for the prince and his two friends, and the only action he could do at this very moment is push the two out of the way to safety.
Only three seconds after pushing his friends away, August look back up at the star and it just landed right onto him causing a little explosion and a small earthquake that only lasted for a few seconds just as King Diseum and his wife, Queen Julia von Earshide just entered the courtyard.
"August!" Julia gasped as they quickly run to their son.
But when they arrived at the little crater where August is in the middle of it, the parents and friends and the guards are all shocked to see that the prince is perfectly fine and not a scratch on him at all.
"Whoa, what just happened?" August asked.
"August, you survived being crushed by that star?!" Thor and Julius gasped.
"I guess I did, but it felt weird." August said confuse of what is going on right now.
"Are you sure you're alright, you're not feeling anything strange?" Diseum asked concern of his son.
"I'm fine, father, really." August assured.
"Well, how about we go inside and get you your favorite dessert." Julia suggested.
"YAY!" August jumped in joy.
"Hey August, how did it feel to be hit by that star?" Thor asked.
"Huh, I'm not entirely sure, but it was like being weighted down by something heavy and it felt dark for some reason but in a good way." August explained the experience.
Unknown to him, his feet are suddenly sinking into the ground and already to his waist as the king and queen gasp of seeing this.
"August, you're sinking into the shadow!" Diseum alerted his son.
"I'm what now! Oh no, what's happening to me!" August panicked.
"Don't freak out, my son. Just reach out your hand and I'll grab you!" Diseum said reaching his hands out to him.
But when August felt scared with the urge of wanting to go back up again, his whole body suddenly turns black fully sinking into the shadow for a second and then shot up above everyone.
"Huh, what just happened?!" August gasped as he started falling toward the ground.
But instead of crashing onto the ground, he sinks into the shadows again and moves around everyone as they are trying to understand what is going on with Prince August.
"What's happening to me!" August panicked.
"August, you must calm down! Whatever is happening to you must be something we need to understand, but you have to be calm and strong." Diseum advised.
"O-Okay." August nodded and stopped himself from moving, then he fully rise from the shadow as the king and Queen quicky latches onto their son.
Then when one guard backed away from this unexpected scene, he bumps into a pillar causing it to shake a little though the small statue on top of it fell and about to hit that guard.
"Look out!" August shouted as he removed himself from his parents' arms to help that guard and felt something about to come out from this weird instinct.
"Shadow Devil Rage!" August fired a giant black magical wave that destroyed the statue along with most of the pillar.
Everyone gasps in silence with their jaws drop including the prince himself with black smoke-like mist came out of his mouth.
(Flashback End)
"And that is how I got my Devil Slayer Magic, we found out about it a day later. My father came to the decision of keeping this power a secret until it's needed the most." August finished his story.
"Wow, I never thought Uncle Dis was hiding such a secret like you having Slayer magic too, and one for slaying Devils no less!" Shin surprised as the rest of his classmates are.
"I can't believe you two knew about it and didn't tell us." Maria glared at Thor and Julius.
"We were under orders by the King to never speak of this until now." Thor mentioned.
"I hope he's okay with that." Julius worried.
"I'm sure my father will understand with the secret going to be reveal sooner or later." August believed.
"Say Shin, want to continue this conversation at your place? I can tell you more about my Devil Slayer Magic." August suggested.
"Sure, I don't see why not." Shin nodded.
(After School, Wolford Home)
Shin with Sizilien, Maria, August, Thor and Julius all arrived at Shin's home through the use of his Gate magic and went inside the house but are surprised when they see King Diseum and Irene and Erza themselves with another person talking to Merlin and Melinda.
"Uncle Dis?" Shin surprised.
"Mother, Erza, what are you doing here?" Juvia asked.
"Oh, this is good timing, welcome home, Shin." Diseum welcomed the young man.
"We came here for a little serious talking, but this man wants to say something to you first." Irene said looking at the serious looking man.
"Our noble majesty values heroism in the kingdom of Earlshide's time of need. In a selfless act of bravery, you successfully slayed a demonoid. Therefore, we would be honored to present you, the First Order of Merit." The man announced.
"The first of… Hold on, are you giving me a medal?!" Shin gasped as Sizilien and Maria are happy for him.
"Well, something like that was bond to happen." August shrugged.
"Diseum, did you not say you weren't going to use Shin for political gain?" Merlin asked remembering the king's words.
"What's all this fanfare about?" Melinda demanded.
"You know the danger. The last time this happened, the demonoid's attack left the Kingdom of Earlshide on the verge of extermination. That threat looms over us yet again. As you can imagine, news spread quickly among the people about both the appearance of the demonoid and its suppression." Diseum pointed out.
"For the sake of the kingdom, we must address these matters by going public." Diseum said.
"Yes, I understand that much, but what is the meaning of awarding the young lad?" Merlin asked.
"News of Shin defeating a demonoid has already spread, so what would be the point of denying the boy such an honor as a medal how you two were rewarded all those years ago." Irene stated.
"I suppose that is a good point." Melinda said.
"We can also promise to prevent anyone from making a profit by exploiting him as well." Irene added.
"So please, I implore you to allow this to happen. Not for my sake, but for the people." Diseum bowed at Merlin and Melinda shocking everyone as Merlin let out a sigh.
"Very well, Diseum, you win. We'll take you at your word in this, but if you break your promise, we will leave this kingdom at once. Is that understood?" Merlin asked.
"Absolutely, you can trust me." Diseum nodded.
"You know, a nations' king really shouldn't bow so readily." Merlin advised.
"Honestly, you seem to go from one spot of trouble to another." Melinda sighed at Shin.
"Uh, wait, this is my fault?" Shin asked.
"August, I came along because Juvia told me about your having Slayer magic for Devil, I wish to see this for myself." Erza stated her reason of being here.
"Of course, I was just about to explain this to Shin anyway." August said.
"I'm more surprise that your son has Lost Magic too." Merlin admitted.
"And he said it happened five years ago, right when you and Shin discovered that wall. It must have contained more Slayer magic than just dragon." Irene theorized.
"Whatever the case, I feel relief that my son doesn't have to hide his power anymore." Diseum smiled.

It looks like Shin came to the same fearing conclusion of someone is making demonoid like Irene thought of before, meaning they'll have to be on the lookout for the culprit who caused the incident with Kurt. August's story of how he got his Slayer Magic which I can say is in fact from the same stone wall that Shin found all those years ago.
