Chapter Six:

A mate's worry.

Sam's POV….

Sam was excited because today was the day that Bella will come to New York. Their den has been quite the flurry of movement since Tony and Pepper gave Sam permission for Bella to stay. His mate has been a real drill sergeant since they got the call. Demanding help rearranging the whole house. She even put a fresh coat of paint in not only Bella's room but the baby's. His woman has been fussing over currents and bed spreads. Buying snacks and foods Bella will like. She is nesting as a good mother should. Preened his wolf as Sam's chest puffed up with pride.

It was still early in the morning. The sun still low in the sky. Yet his mate was still fussing. Still cleaning up the house even though it was sparkling. Between Bella and the baby Sam was surprised that Emily hasn't dropped from exhaustion.

With determination in his stride Sam walks up behind Emily to wrap an arm around her waist. Pulling her to his chest to growl softly in her ear.

"Mate, if you continue on like this you'll have no energy for when she gets here. Tell me Love, what kind of welcome home would it be if the heart of the home is dead on her feet?" Sam kissed the top of Emily's head.

"I just want everything to be perfect. Bella is going to be so far away from home. I just want the transition to go well." Emily signed.

"She is coming home, Love. We are her pack, her family. As long as we stand by her she will be safe and at home because she is loved and welcomed." Sam purred.

"Ugh! I know! I know Sam! It's just that from all of what Charlie has said the girl's been through the ringer." Emily shouts softly. "Sam, she doesn't want to be here." Emily breaths out. "Out of the phone calls Charlie has not once let on that Bella is happy to be coming." Tears began to swell in Emily's eyes. "Sam…What if…What if Bella thinks we think less of her for what happened? What if she thinks we are ashamed of her? What if she won't tell anyone what happened because she is scared we'll stop loving her?"

Sam can't blame Emily for having these thoughts. He, himself, has come to that same cross road. That some conclusion. Breathing deeply Sam pulled Emily tightly to him. Letting her emotions flow out of her. When Emily's tears seem to slow Sam holds her face in his hands and begins to kiss her tears away. He then looks softly into her eyes.

"Then we shall prove her wrong, Mate. She is our's so she'll be stubborn about it but we'll prove her wrong and reassure that she is our's even if she hates us for it." Sam declares.
