Damn, I'm having some fun writing this down. I didn't know how peaceful it felt making your own fanfic. Thank you all to whoever has read this and favorited. The progress of planning Izuku's origin is goin alright. I've hit a few snags on how to blend in some of Demon Slayers influences but I'll work on them. I have a little surprise to add in this chapter as well.

Chapter 4: Take a Breath
Izuku stood frozen in fear as he watched the angry blonde rush towards him. His palms were facing towards Katsuki in an attempt to catch him off guard with his flame. He couldn't get his breathing under control and thus no flame appeared. Katsuki got within swinging distance and threw his right hand towards Izuku with his palm open, small exlosions popping. Izuku stared in fear but then he felt strange. It was like time started slowing down for the greenette. All he could hear was his heart pounding as Katsuki's hand got closer.
He ducked under the swing and took a few steps back. The few other kids and Katsuki stared in complete shock at what had happened. Izuku didn't pay any mind to anyone at the moment because he felt a warm feeling in his chest. He had no idea that he had been holding his breath the whole time. Letting out a deep sigh there was smoke that also came out of his mouth. Katsuki was the first to shake the surpise and point his finger at Izuku.
"What was that you little Deku?! Did you lie about being quirkless?!?"
Izuku took deep breaths to try and level his breathing. He had no idea what just happened but it took a lot of energy out of him. Struggling to form a sentence the boy slumped over slightly.
"Q-quirk check up...few days a-ago"
He had managed to get out. The kids who attended the same school as Izuku looked at him in surprise. They had never seen him so tired in the short time they had spent in the classroom. At the same time they had never seen him move fast enough to create fire. They wondered if the smoke that came out of his mouth hurt or tasted bad.
"So you got a usless fire quirk huh?! That doesn't make you better than me Deku."
Katsuki said with distain in his five hear old squeaky voice. Izuku had his hands on his knees and was just barely catching his breath. Katsuki didn't like the look the other boy was giving him. It was something that said he thought he was weak. Izuku on the other hand was thinking a hundred things at the moment. What did he just do? Katsuki said he saw him use fire? Why was everything slowed down? Why was it so hard to breathe?
Izuku had never been winded before and it surprised him. Before he could think any further, a small fist had hit him square in the jaw. This caused the poor boy to ball back as Katsuki used his quirk to add some more damage. To Izuku's surprise, he could feel the heat of the explosion but it didn't burn that bad than when he had been hit before.
"See what I mean? You're just weak and usless, not even worth my time!"
The blonde said as he turned around to leave. Izuku sat on the floor rubbing his jaw in pain. Even though the explosion didn't hurt that much, Katsuki could still pack a punch. After the commotion was done, the other kids decided to leave. Izuku stood up and dusted himself off with a small smile. He had been a hero and saved a random kid.
-Later at the Midoriya Apartment-
Izuku sat at the computer with his notebook. The screen showed a video of a man in a blue suit covered in bright flames. The boys hand flew across the paper with a pen in hand. Jotting down notes and watching the video, Izuku let his mind flow at different ways to his his fire without suffocating. An idea finally hit the greenette in the head hard. Why not improve his stamina?
Nodding to himself he closed the notebook and continued to watch the video. He rubbed his jaw again, a light purple bruise showing. Inko knocked on the door softly behind Izuku.
"I made a few calls for a quirk counselor while you were at the park. We can meet one tomorrow before dinner."
She said happily. She noticed the bruise on her son's face and made a fuss earlier. The boy said he had fallen over while playing but she wasn't so sure.
"Oh yay! Do they also have a fire quirk!?"
Izuku asked excitedly. His full attention now on his mother. She giggled softly and smiled brighter. Her son's smile will always fill her with love and determination.
"Yes he does actually. His name is Mr. Iroh. He used to travel all over the world before staying in Japan."
Inko told her son while going over to ruffle his hair. She took a good look at Izuku and smiled warmly. He looked so much like both her and his father. His hair was something that reflected both of them. She remembers the black and red hair Hishashi has. It was such a surprise to see Izuku with his black and green hair that reflected Inko's own straight dark green hair.
He smiled while his mother played with his hair. He wondered what it would be like to get help with is quirk.
"I can't wait! I'm gonna be a super strong hero!"
Izuku yelled out while pumping his little fist in the air. Inko nodded and smiled at her son. She gave him a hug and went back to the living room. Back to his research, Izuku continued to watch the hero use his quirk on the computer screen. Deciding that he's done enough for now he turned the computer off.
Izuku went to his room and flopped on the bed. He gazed up at the ceiling with a slight yawn escaping him. Maybe a nap would help speed up the day. Closing his eyes, his mind went back to what had happened at the park. Katsuki had hit him but the attack wasn't as harsh as they would be. The moment he saw that Izuku has a quirk, he seemed to get angrier.
Thinking back to how his quirk reacted, Izuku turned to his side. He remembered how everything slowed down to a crawl. It was like his heart sped up to the point it would burst. The after affects were also very intense. If it weren't for his will to stay standing, he would have passed out in front of Katauki. Sleep started to take the boy slowly. His last thought being of his father telling him something he couldn't really hear.
Inko sat on her bed with a scrapbook in hand. She slowly flipped through the pages, looking at each photo with love. Reaching out with one hand, she pulled out one of the photos and looked at it closely. The photo showed two smiling young adults and a smiling baby.
One of the adults was Inko herself. Her green hair was shorter in the photo but decided to grow it out after Izuku was born. The baby was Izuku. His hair had just been growing in. It covered a small birth mark just above the hairline. The last person was Izuku's father. He looked like a frail man with a sunken face. His eyes were a soft red, almost velvet color. The hair mixed with black matched his eyes as well. It was almost laughable how much Izuku resembled both of them.
Deciding that it wouldn't do much to wonder what could of been, Inko got up to see what she could make for dinner.
-Elsewhere-
The sounds of medical machines hummed in the dark room. Lights flickered in various spots of the ceiling. The masked man sat infront of Dr.Tsubasa and a small child.
"Master, here is the child I told you about."
Said the doctor with a smug look on his wrinkled face. The child in question looked to be around six or seven years old. His blueish hair covered his face. He looked to be thin and poorly taken care of.
The man in the mask let out an amused hum. He slowly leaned forward to get a better look at the boy.
"Tell me child, what is your name and quirk?"
The boy flinched at hearing the distorted voice. He shakily looked uo at the monster of a man. The scarred face made the boy want to vomit. In a fearful voice he spoke.
"Tenko Shimura...I am quirkless."
-Midoriya Apartment-
Izuku woke up to find that none of his clothing was on fire. Nodding a small victory to himself, he sat up on the bed and yawned. Looking out the window he saw the saw was a little past half way in the sky. He scooted of his bed and made his way towards the living room. Once in the living room he saw his mother getting something ready for dinner.
"Whatcha making for dinner, momma?"
He asked a bit sleepily. She turned around not hearing him enter the kitchen.
"Oh, I was thinking of making chicken with veggies and soup!"
Izuku nodded eagerly at the suggestion and ran back to the living room with a cheer. The rest of the night went fairly well. They ate dinner with small talk and laughs. When they finished Izuku asked to watch a hero movie before bed and she agreed. The pair sat on the couch with the movie playing infront of them. Izuku cheered on the heroes when they battled against the villains.
The movie ended with Izuku sleeping on his mothers lap. Inko let out a covered yawn and turned off the Tv. Making sure not to wake Izuku, she carefully picks him up. She slowly makes her way towards his room. Once she's git him tucked into bed she places a soft kiss on his forehead.
-The Next Morning-
The birds sang peacefully as the sun rose into the sky. Unfortunately for Izuku, his alarm clock went off ending the peace. He sat straight up while letting out a surpised yelp. During said yelp, he let out a small wave of fire from his mouth. Thankfully nothing was in distance to be ignited. He rubbed his eyes sleepily with a yawn. Deciding to get ready for the big day, he jumped out of bed to take a shower.
-One Hour Later-
After a warm shower and change of clothes, Izuku sat at his desk with a blank notebook. He wanted to have a fairly good idea at what his quirk could do so that the counselor can help better. Remembering back to when his quirk first manifested, he started to scribble down notes in a speed high schoolers would be jealous of.
While Izuku took notes in his room, Inko prepared breakfast for the both of them. She'll be going back to work today so she made an omelette with rice to be quick. Making some pulling motions towards a mixing bowl, said bowl started hovering closer. She took it and mixed the eggs while humming. Izuku walked into the kitchen still holding his notebook.
"Good morning Izu. Did you sleep well?"
Inko asked. She poured the eggs into the skillet while adding the other ingredients.
"Yes I did. My pants weren't on fire today!"
He said with a triumphant smile. To be honest it looked really cute on his baby face. Inko let out a small laugh as she put a plate of food infront of him. He smiles and let out a cheerful thanks while eating. Inko eats her own food. Once they finish, she takes their plates to the sink.
"Alright Izu, were going to head to the library today then we'll see your quirk counselor afterwards."
She told him. He nodded and smiled brightly. They got their belongings together and met at the front door.
"Ready!"
Izuku annouced once he got his red shoes on. The pair exited the apartment and made their way towards the train station. Once at the station they sat on the bench for the next train to arrive. Not too long after sitting down did they hear a commotion across the street.
"Put the money in the bag!"
A man shouted at a few people he had cornered. His skin appeared to be made out of rock or cement. Inko stoop up and immediately stepped in front of Izuku as he tried to get a better look. The man raised his rock covered arm in a threatening manner.
"Don't make me hurt you people!"
Other people around the area were just watching in fear or had their phones out recording. The trio that were being held back screamed in fear. Izuku looked around at everything that was happening. Why wasn't anyone doing anything? His young mind couldn't understand why all these people who probably had amazing quirks just watched while other people were being threatened. Sure there weren't any heroes around but surely all of them could so soemthing?
"Please don't hurt us!"
One of the victims shouted. The plead only seemed to anger the rock man. He looked even angrier than before.
"I warned you people!"
He swung his arm down hard. At least it would have been hard if he had the chance to bring it down. Before the rock man could even move after talking, a flying red, white, and black figure came crashing into him. Everyone froze at what happened. For a second Izuku thought the blur could have been All Might from how fast the blur and colors are.
"Ugh, that really hurt."
Said the figure, getting up from the ground and dusting himself off. He seemed to be a young man wearing a make shift hero suit. The most notable being the All Might fan hoodie that made everyone think he was the real Symbol of Peace for a second. He wore biker protection gear on both arms and both legs with, runner shoes. His face is covered with a black face mask and a pair of white sunglasses with orange lenses.
This man caught Izuku's attention instantly. From what the boy could tell he wasn't a hero at all. Then he realized that the man must be a vigilante. That's an illegal profession that some civilians who want to be heroes but never became one partake in.
"What's the big idea you little shit!"
Shouted the rock man. He slowly got up from the ground and glared at the hero want to be.
"Who are you supposed to be, Small Might?"
He said while letting out a short laugh. The vigilante got into a squatting position and placed one hand on the ground.
"The name is The Crawler!"
As he said that, he started to glide across the road surface as if he were on roller blades. He zoomed around the rock man as said man tried to swing but hit nothing.
Izuku couldn't believe his eyes. This is the first hero vs villain fight that he has ever witnessed and it was from a vigilante to add to it. Soon his mother started to pull his arm away. He looked as to why and saw the train had arrived. People quickly entered and left the train to see what was happening. Once they were inside Inko looked ar Izuku.
"Are you ok Izu? I hope that didnt scare you too much."
Izuku shook his head and smiled at his mother. He is very happy that someone came and helped those people. The ride to the town library didn't take too long as there were no other problems. Once they arrived, Inko went to clock in as Izuku went go his usual corner. He got comfortable in a chair and took out his personal notebook.
"Lets see. so far I know I can create fire from my breath and my body. There was that weird moment at the park where everything slowed down. Lastly, fire or heat doesn't burn me to a certain point."
Listing the aspects of his quirk got Izuku thinking a mile a minute. There could be so many possibilities to use his quirk. Getting up, Izuku went over to the hero section of the library. He looked at different news papers of heroes who had fire quirks and other documented uses of fire related quirks. Luckily for him, he had no school work so it would he a day of research and hypothesizing.
While looking through various sources of media, Izuku got more ideas of how to make use of his flame. He got very excited for when he would be old enough to join a quirk gym. Heading back to his corner he saw his mom working with different cusomers. He smiles at how hard working she is and vows go do the same.
-End of Inko's shift-
Izuku sat on the chair with his head against the arm rest. He had been nodding off for the past ten minutes during his research. His notebook was filled with various notes and ideas. Inko found him on the verge of falling asleep and giggled. She lightly shook his arm to wake him up.
"Hey sleepy head, its time to go."
She said playfully. Izuku lifted his head and let out a hearty yawn. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he started to pack up his notebook and pencils.
"We still have to see your quirk counselor and then get dinner."
At the mention of the quirk counselor, Izuku's eyes shot open wide away.
"Yay, I'm so excited! It'll be so cool to use my quirk better!"
Inko nodded and lead Izuku the the exit. The train ride wouldn't be too far from their home which made Inko very happy. The trip to the the train station was uneventful for the duo. As they as together, Izuku held on to hids mother's hand excitedly.
"I wonder what kind if person Mr. Iroh is."
Izuku thought out loud. Inko nodded in silence.
"I hope he can help you control your fire. Don't want to wake up with my baby all burnt up."
They both shared a small chuckle but understood the meaning behind the joke. The train ride from the library to the counselor's office took some time as he also lived in the outskirts of the city. That would be a s benefit in the long run for when they would have to go from home. Izuku sat next to his mother and watched the world go by out the window.
Once they arrived at the designated station, Inko lead Izuku to the destination. She checked her phone to make sure the address she remembers is correct. Izuku held on to her other hand as they continued to walk the sidewalk. They arrived in front of what looked to be a dojo/cafe. They both looked at each other and gave a small shrug while heading to the door.
The building looked to be fairly aged. The building itself gave off the look of a standard cafe. Given the sight through the windows, the inside held various tables at knee level to sit at. there are pillow pads in a variety of colors. Its hard to see but there is a counter in the back to order and also sit at. The walls of the building are orange with dark reds for the lining and roof.
The dojo connected to the cafe by having an outside arena with a traditional dojo in the back with paper walls and a sliding door. The place looked to be where you could either train or relax. Inko opened the door and the scent of various tea leaves hit the greenettes like a truck. The smells were amazing and so inviting. Lost in thought, they both looked around the cafe that gave off a traditional/peaceful vibe.
"Ah, Welcome to The Jasmine Dragon. It is very nice go meet you. I assume you both are the Midoriyas?"
An elderly man asked them. He has a heavy build with a long white beard. His eyes are a hazel color that gave off the feeling of friendship. He is a short man but his presence gave off some kind of power. The smile he wore is genuine and contagious.
"Yes we are, it's nice to meet you. My name is Inko Midoriya and this is my son, Izuku."
Inko returned the mans smile with her own. She turned to Izuku to let him give his greeting.
"Hi Mr! I'm Izuku. It's nice to meet you."
"Yes, Its a pleasure go meet you both. Before we discuss anything would you both like a cup of tea?"
So I know that this is a Demon Slayer/MHA fanfiction, but come on. You know that Izuku being taught how to use fire by Iroh and then later using those lessons in breathing techniques would be awesome. Hopefully this turns out pretty well. I plan on Izuku taking the time to learn each element instead of blazing through them. *ahem* I hope that you all are enjoying my process of learning how to be a better writer. Please RR and have a good day.
