So I've been thinking on how to introduce flame breathing to Izuku. I have an interesting idea that ties in the death of Hisashi. Pretty much all of my ideas kinda come out on the spot. Some days I'll ponder on how to add on to the story. The more interesting ideas are for when Izuku is in UA. Thanks for reading and following the story.

Chapter 6: Lets Get Started

Inko cried into Hisashi's chest. The two others who had brought the man here let her grieve for awhile. She takes the hand that fell from her hair and holds it close to her heart.

'In the end, it was never because he didn't love us.'

She thought to herself. She shakily stands up to face the others. It was only now that Inko really noticed what they wore. Hisashi wore a black uniform that looked more traditional than modern. On his waist is a damaged white belt and his feet have on sandle with black socks. Over the black unifrom he wore a velvet haori that has clouds with lightening bolts coming out of them all around it.

The other two wore similar black uniforms. They didn't have a haori but wore stange hoods and face masks. There was a short silence between the three of them.

"What happened? Where has my husband been for the last three years? I still dont understand."

The poor woman started to tremble again. Her tears flowing freely. The pair moved in silence. One of them stepped closer to Inko revealing a long rectangular case. It appeared to be made out of wood and painted a shining black.

"Your husband was a very skilled swordsman called a demon slayer."

The person let Inko process that first sentence. She couldn't help but look at them in confusion. The other person had knelt by Hisashi carefully removing the haori. The clothe is damaged and is faintly soaked in blood. Removing what they could, they folded the clothe and handed it to Inko. She happily took it into her hands.

"The evil that he spoke of all started because of a man named Muzan Kibutsuji, a demon disguised as a man. He has been creating several other demons for hundreds maybe even thousands of years. Our old master recruited Hisashi back into our ranks because our best slayers have died in battle."

Inko didn't know how to respond. She could barely understand what the person is saying.

"Along with our last best slayers, your husband has been traveling the world searching for Muzan and the demons he's left behind. It was only just yesterday that they defeated him. Before coming here, he asked us to give you this."

They hand over the rectangular case to Inko, who takes it acceptably. They also reach into their uniform pocket and pull out a couple envelopes.

"Hisashi aslo gave us different letters to give to you and Izuku. You are to read this one only. The other is for Izuku when he turns ten."

She nodded slowly and took the envelopes. The one for her is green with little bits of velvet on the front. The one for Izuku is green as well but with blue bits on the cover.

"We are sorry for your loss. It was Hisashi's request that we bury him at the tree you two met at."

Inko smiled sadly at the thought of Hisashi always thinking if her and their son. She agreed and would want to join him for when it's her turn to rest. The pair let her have her final moments with her husband.

"Thank you so much my love for protecting our family."

The pair started to dig a grave not too far from them. Inko thought back to the time they first met again. Then to the time they got married. After that it was Izuku being born. next was Hisashi suddenly disapearing with just a letter that explained nothing. Finaly, she got to thd present where she finally got the truth as to why he left. Suddly the realization of what her husband said hit her. There were demons in the world.

"I don't mean to interrupt ma'am, but the grave is ready."

One of the pair said. It was clear in their eyes that doing so was painful. Inko nodded with sadness and more tears fell down her face. They laid Hisashi in the grave and with help from one of the pairs quirk, they fashioned a earth like casket to put the man in. Inko stood over her husbands grave with a sad smile. She extended her hand palm down and let go of the first bits of dirt and grass.

-Next Morning-

Izuku woke up just as the sun hit his face. It was like the warmth of the sun rays called out to him. Sitting up, he rubbed his eyes and let out a yawn. He rolled out of bed and made his way towards the bathroom making small sleepy stumbles. Today he'll be going back to school. After a shower and getting his teeth brushed, he got dressed in a pair of black shorts and a blue pull over shirt that was for the school. Hearing a knock at the door he turned to see his mother come into the room.

In his heart, Izuku could tell that something bad happened to his mother. Her eyes had bags under them as if she hadn't slept all night. Her cheeks are puffy and red showing shed been crying a lot too. Despite the look, Inko smiled at her son and scooped him into a big hug. Izuku hugged her back with as much intensity as his mother did.

"What's wrong momma? Did something happen?"

The boy said, his worry showing. Inko just placed her forhead against Izuku's and let out a shaky sigh.

"Mommy had a bad nightmare. I just needed to see if you're okay this morning."

Izuku nodded, he hated getting nightmares too. Some memories if him running to his mom's room while crying popped into his mind. He hugged his mother tighter.

"It's ok momma, I'm doing okay."

They both stayed like that for another moment before Inko rubbed her eyes again. They made their way towards the kitchen and Izuku took a seat at the table. Inko poured herself some coffee and poured a cup of milk for Izuku. While Izuku drank his milk and listened to the hero news, she got breakfast ready. About fifteen minutes later, a plate of pancakes sat infront of Izuku, who had a look of excitement.

Inko didn't eat much that morning. The pain of losing the love of her life has been eating at her slowly. What's worse is that she had to keep this a secret for five more years before telling her son the truth. The only thing keeping her together is the fact that Hisashi was fighting for the protection of their family. The thought of demons running around made her sick as well.

'Should I be proud he saved us or angry he left without saying why?.'

Different thoughts swam around her head. She wasn't sure what to feel. Sure she loves Hisahi, but he was gone for so long.

'Izuku doesn't even remember what he sounds like, wouldn't even know what he looked like if we didn't have pictures of him or the family.'

Closing her eyes, she heard a glass start to crack. Izuku looked up surprised at the sound. Inko's hand is stretched out reaching for her coffee mug, the only thing is that the handle of the mug was forced off the cup.

After cleaning up the broken glass and finishing breakfast, the greenette duo made it out the front door. Izuku held onto Inko's hand as they made their way towards the train station. Fortunately, there wasn't a villain attack this morning so making it to the station was quicker. Both Midoriya's enjoyed the ride in silence. The young boy wasn't fooled.

He saw the look of many emotions in his mother's eyes. Izuku couldn't explain it but he always noticed the smallest of details in most things when he paid attention. It's a gift that seperated him from most children his age. He held on to her hand tighter and leaned his head against her shoulder for the remainder of the ride. Inko looked down at her son when he held her closer. She knows that he's figured something out.

The train arrives to the station and both Midoriya's exit hand it hand. Izuku's school isn't too far from the station so the pair started to walk to the building. Along the way they see other children and their parents heading in the same direction. To Izuku's surprise, he saw Katsuki and aunt Mistsuki heading to the entrance. Once they got to the front of the school Inko gave Izuku a big hug that didn't go unnoticed by said boy. He hugged back happily.

"Alright Izuku have a good day at school. When you're done I'll be here to take you to yours first counseling."

He nods with an excited smile.

"I can't wait to see Mr. Iroh again. You have a good day too momma!"

They let go of each other and Izuku went over to the entrance where a member of the school staff held the door open. As soon as he got to the door, the adult smiled at him and waved.

"Glad to see you're back, Izuku. We all heard you finally got your quirk. Good job!"

They said through a bright smile. This confused Izuku greatly. It was last week that all the school staff treated him like a disease because of his lack of a quirk. Now that they heard he has one, it's like they did a one-eighty on him.

"Thank you."

Is all he said as he walked by them. He followed the other kids that were in his class to their designated room. When he got to the class entrance, he was shoved aside by his old blonde friend.

"Watch it Deku!"

Izuku almost fell forward but regained himself after a few steps. Deciding not to say anything, he sat down at one of the small desks. This in turn didn't sit well with the angry blonde.

"Oi, you think youre better than me cause you have a quirk now?!"

Katsuki almost shouted. His face is in it's usual scowl whenever looking at Izuku.

"I d-didn't say that Kaachan, I just don't w-want to fight."

Izuku said, shaking slightly. He didn't want to repeat what happened at the park. Not only does he have poor control of his quirk, but if not carefully used, he'll pass out again...or worse. Katsuki looked at the trembling mess and scoffed.

"Better stay out of my way next time."

The explosive blonde went over to his seat. Izuku went to his seat as well not wanting to make more of a scene. The teacher had been looking over the class schedule for the day and situated the children.

"Alright little ones let's welcome Izuku back to class today. He had manifested his quirk last week so lets cheer for him!"

The teacher said excitedly. All the kids looked at Izuku with curious eyes and let out small cheers. Word had spread about what happened at the park. Some who were not present didn't believe that the little 'Deku' couldn't have manifested a quirk. The sudden attention on Izuku made him feel uncomfortable.

'Does having a quirk really matter that much to people?'

He thought to himself saddly. Out of no where Katsuki started laughing. Everyone stopped to look at what made the angry boy laugh so hard.

"Deku can't even use his quirk right. He fell to the ground after using for only a couple seconds!"

The teacher looked at Katauki in a chiding manner. She brought up her finger in a 'no no' motion.

"Now, Now Katauki don't be rude. Not everything comes so easily to others like they do for you."

Now this actually shocked Izuku. Normally the teachers would turn a blind eye when he was picked on. This made him question things more about before and after manifesting his quirk. It wasn't until the teacher started going over the lessons and activities for the day that he snapped back into reality. Deciding to think about it later he started to pay attention to what the teacher said.

-End of School Day-

Izuku walked out of the front door of the school building as a staff member held it open for all the children. Seeing his mother standing at the sidewalk made him smile happily. She smiles back and takes his hand as he reaches for hers.

"Hey sweetie, how was your day?"

She asked while starting to walk. Izuku looked puzzled after the question.

"It was different today. Everyone wasn't so mean."

Inko knew that her son dealt with the unfairness of not having a quirk before today. There were times he'd leave the building hiding his tears or frown. Not that Inko could notice things like Izuku, but a mother knows her son.

"It'll take some time to get use to I imagine."

She said quietly. She felt awful that there isn't much she can do. It bothers her a great deal that people are treated differently bases on their quirk or lack there of. Deciding to walk instead of taking the train, they both headed to the 'Jasmine Dragon.'

-At The Jasmine Dragon-

Iroh sat at the bar like table listening to a soft tune playing from a radio. Infront of him are various tea leaves and tools for tea making. While humming along to the tune, he put the leaves into a mortar to crush and mix them. Not too long after he finished the first batch did the front door open. Inko and Izuku stepped into the building inhaling the wonderful smell of tea. Iroh smiles at the two, welcoming them in.

"It's nice to see you again, Inko and Izuku. I hope you two are having a wonderful day."

They both smile back at Iroh and take a seat at the table. Iroh took a different tea pot with already made tea and poured three cups.

"Hello Mr. Iroh, today has been a pretty interesting day so far. But I'm really excited for our lessons as well."

Izuku said, almost shouting the last part. He took a sip of the tea, nearly dropping his cup at how good the flavour is. Inko giggled at her son's reaction and sipped her tea as well. Just like her son, the flavour caught her off guard at how good it is.

"Interesting is better than boring at least. You just have to find a different way to look at it."

The old man said in a wise tone. He pours the crushed tea into small bags and ties them up neatly. When he finishes, he puts the tools back under the table.

"Izuku, what makes you want to be a hero?"

The question is simple but the meaning behind it is deep. Izuku took a moment to think of his answer.

'Why do I want to be a hero? It's not just because they are super cool. Not about wanting to be famous...:

He looked at Iroh with an expression of deep thought for a five year old. Iroh gave Izuku the time he needed to form an answer.

"Ever since my classmates started manifesting their quirks I've been left in the dust. Being quirkless was and still kinda is hard to explain. There is no fairness for people who don't have their own abilities. I want to be someone that even the quirkless or people who don't have quirks for hero work can look up to. Everyone should be able to feel safe when they see me as a hero in the future."

Izuku said in his little tangent mumble voice. As Iroh listened to the boy, he stroked his beard in thought.

"Those are some bigs words for a small child. If you really do want to protect the innocent then you must become strong. Strength comes in different froms, not just raw power."

Izuku took in Iroh's words like a sponge in water. Iroh spoke in a way that made the boy feel connected to him. Inko also paid attention, intrigued on what the man will say. Once everyone finished their tea, Iroh stood up and motioned towards the outside door.

"I think its time you meet the other students and mentors."

This causes Izuku to perk up. He instantly jumps on his feet while Inko calmly stands up. Iroh opens the door and lets them walk outside. Izuku smiles widely at seeing the students that practiced either their quirks or some kind of fighting style. That isn't all either. There were some exercising in many ways, some practicing with weapons, and even some going through various tea tools. There are about a dozen students in the outside dojo from around Izuku's age to their early teens.

There looks to be half the amount of mentors to students. The different groups of activities have one or two mentors watching and helping. Iroh lead Izuku to the area with exercise equipment and other students who are doing various exercises. There is one mentor watching over the students, making sure they are doing everything properly.

"Mr. Lee, I see the exercises are going well. I'm happy to tell you that we have a new student joining us today."

The man known as 'Mr. Lee' is about five foot nine. He looked to be younger than Iroh but older than the other mentors. The man looked almost like a buffer Iroh, exept his face wasn't as gentle. A scar ran down his right eye, making it cloudy. His face is slightly wrinkled with a neat shaved beard. The clothes he wore are black exercise pants, wooden sandals, and a red sleevelss robe shirt.

"Is this runt really gonna join us? It looks like a small breeze could knock him down."

The man's voice is deep, making Izuku a bit frightened of him and his appearance. Iroh notices that Izuku looks scared and pats the boys head.

"Now, now Mr. Lee, you know better than to judge a book by its cover. You never know if he could surprise you."

Izuku looks at Iroh with wide eyes. He hasn't had many people stick up for him other than his mother. He looks back at Mr. Lee and nods with determination, the fear still there but less than befor.

"Mr. Lee, my name is Izuku Midoriya and I promise to do my best while at this dojo."

The boy said with a slight stutter at the end. Mr. Lee eyed him up and down and gave a small grin.

"Well you definitely did better than most students off the bat. These runts were too scared to even talk to me on their first day, haha!"

The man points at the other younger students who are doing different exercises. Izuku gulps at the obviously difficult activities the students are going through. Iroh smiles and lets out a chuckle.

"Yes, it seems you are as persistent as ever to keep the youth in top shape. Just make sure not to over due it."

Izuku looks up at Iroh and back at Mr. Lee. He couldn't explain it, but for some reason, Iroh had this air of calm dangerousness to him. He hadn't realized it until he 'felt' Mr. Lee's presence. The other man gave off a feeling of pure strength.

"What will be be working on today sirs?"

The young greenette asked. Inko, who had been listening intensely felt a bit nervous. Her mothey tendencies wanted to tell Izuku that he didn't have to do this. That being a hero is too dangerous. But in the end, she doesnt want to crush her baby's dreams.

"Alright Izuku, from what I saw yesterday your quirk relies on your stamina. The fire that yiu produce comes from your breath and how you can control your breathing. In a way its actually similar to mine. To be able to manipulate my flames better, my breathing has to be calm."

Iroh demonstrates by holding out his hand. He takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. A small fire ball ignited out of nothing. Letting the fire burn for a moment he closes his fist and snuffs it out.

"Mr. Lee here is going to help you increase your stamina as well as get some more meet on those bones.

Izuku almost groaned but kept it from slipping. He knew that its going go be a lot of blood,1 sweat, and tears by the time he's made it to middle school.

"That makes sense. I can't be a good hero if I'm always running out of breath after barely using my quirk."

Mr. Lee raised an eyebrow after hearing what Izuku said.

"Sounds like I'll have to work you into the ground extra hard to combat that weakness. Most quirks are one way or another based on a person's stamina, but it sounds like yours takes an extra toll on you, interesting."

Izuku did another audible gulp that made Iroh and Mr. Lee chuckle a bit. Inko felt glad that there are people who can help her son hone his abilities but felt a little nervous at the methods. She decided to stay silent, thinking back to the words Hisashi said before he passed away. She used her quirk to hide the tears that threaten to fall. Iroh taking notice decided to move things along.

"The plan as of now is to condition your body so that you can have more stamina and last longer while using your quirk. This is going to be very difficult, but if you do have the drive to become a hero then I can't see you failing."

Izuku nodded in agreement. As of now, he's like a regular toddler when using his quirk. Its too easy to get burned out while calling upon his flames. Mr. Lee then patted Izuku on the back.

"Lets get started by having you run do 50 laps around the dojo."

Izuku looked at the man with a grin. If he wasn't using his quirk then his stamina would be perfect for this. Mr. Lee saw the grin and retuned it tenfold.

"When you can do 200 laps without stopping then we'll add in the use of your quirk."

This wiped the grin off Izuku's face completely, making him drop his jaw. The scene was able to cheer up Inko a bit and caused her to giggle.

'He is definitely your son Hisashi. If only you could see his development in the future.'

Iroh gave a hearty laugh as he put his hands on his stomach. Mr Lee held that grin foe a few seconds more before saying the dreaded words.

"Let's get started."

And that is the end of chapter 6. I apologize for taking a bit longer with this chapter, things kinda got busy for me. In the future I want to try doing a chapter every week but we'll see how that goes. What does everyone think of the story so far? The next chapter is gonna be a time skip to when Izuku is in middle school. Don't worry, I won't gloss over any of the important training that je receives. Thank you all for reading and following/liking. please RR, have a good one!
