Declan returned holding out his mobile. "You put in the number Reg."
Reg shook his head. "It's your mobile Declan. It's you who should handle it. If you have trouble, I'll guide you."
"Okay. I press this button to add right Reg?"
"Correct."
"Now I add the numbers."
"Correct."
"Tell me your numbers Aunty."
Esther read off her mobile number then reminded Declan to press save.
"All done Aunty. Thank you. I'll call…."
Reg interrupted. "Just a minute Declan. You have Aunty's number. Now for the rules. Stop me if I'm wrong Esther. You may only call after speaking with me or your father; you may only call during the day which means until 6:00 pm; of course you may call if we have an emergency, but only if me or your father is unavailable. Have I left out anything Esther?"
"You haven't missed anything Reg. I may call to chat but it will be within the rules. I have your number and you have mine Reg. Feel free to reach out to me if necessary. I know from time to time you may want a day off. In that case, ring me. I'll be glad to have Declan over for a visit. That's all settled. Will you sit out back with your aunty. I'd like to see how you are keeping up the garden."
"Shall we Reg?"
"That's fine Declan. I have a few things to do. Mind yourself. I'll see you in a bit Esther."
/*/
Declan took Esther's arm as they walked to the back garden. Esther smiled down at the boy she once thought she could never love and pushed a lock of his thick hair out of his face.
"You are learning to be a right gentleman."
"Yes I am Aunty. My dad and Reg are seeing to it. I have to live up to the Nott name."
"Yes you do." Esther replied. "The Nott name is a very fine name."

Returning To His Roots: Chapter 89
Esther was thrilled with the garden. Everything she and Declan had planted was coming along splendidly.
"The garden is looking amazing Declan. Has Reg been helping you?"
"No Aunty. I did everything you taught me by myself. I paid special attention to the bushes we planted for my Nan."
Grabbing Declan up in a hug, the mother who was now the aunt complimented her nephew. "They are lovely Declan. I think you would do well working with flowers. However, I think Theo has much bigger aspirations for his son."
"Aspirations Aunty Esther? I don't know that word. It's okay though. I'll look it up."
Esther smiled but Reg who had just come through answered. "Aspirations simply means a hope or ambition. I think Theo wants more for you than being a gardener."
Esther blushed. "I'm sure I didn't mean to imply Declan would be a gardener. My s… nephew is brilliant. I expect he'll end up in some big position."
Declan who was listening closely to the conversation chimed in. "My dad and I haven't discussed futures, but if I have my say, I'd like to have a real estate office like him. I want to help people find homes."
Reg stepped in carrying a tray of refreshments which he set down on a garden table. "You're still a young wizard Declan. This is not the time for you to be making decisions on what you'll do in the future. As your aunt said, you are brilliant. Perhaps your future lies somewhere else. Esther, Theo called. He is planning a Sunday dinner and has asked me to extend an invitation to you and Ellis."
Esther felt warm inside. Her nephew was so far removed from his father it was unimaginable. "Thank you Reg. Please tell Theo that Ellis and I would love to attend. You may also tell him I'd be glad to assist Cely."
Reg smiled. He'd been given the complete run down from Theo. "That won't be necessary Esther. Miss Grace will be hosting the dinner. Theo just wants you and Mr. Casper to come and have a good time."
"Alright then. Ellis and I will come and be the proper guests. Now that we have that settled, let's tuck into these lovely refreshments."
"Alright aunty. I can use a bit of refreshment."
/*/
As they were enjoying their refreshments, Declan asked if it would be possible to visit Diagon Alley and maybe get a small ice cream cone. Esther thought about it for a few seconds before responding.
"Today is not a good day to visit the shop. Ellis gets his deliveries on Thursday. He'll be too busy to entertain company."
Declan was puzzled. "We're not company Aunty. I'm sure Mr. Casper would be glad to see our faces."
Esther smiled at her nephew. It wasn't a secret but neither was it fodder for young ears that she and Ellis saw each other almost every night. Most of those nights Casper spent the night. She didn't want to be stern but had to keep the record straight.
"Perhaps Ellis would be glad to see our faces Declan, however, it would be bad form to visit on his busiest day. I think we can put it off until another day. I'm sure if it's only an ice cream cone you're after, Reg could find something comparable. Perhaps he has some ice cream in the freezer."
Declan wanted to debate. "Reg does have ice cream in the freezer, but…."
Reg stepped into the room. "Are you arguing with your aunt? Your Aunt Esther is an adult who has given you a perfectly good reason why today is not a good day to visit Mr. Casper's shop. Why are you questioning her?"
Declan thought about the best way to respond. It was not his intention to dispute his Aunty or upset Reg, but it seemed he had done both. "Sorry Reg. Sorry Aunty. It's just that a lad likes a bit of fresh air now and then."
Esther covered a smile with her napkin. Declan Nott was very quick on his feet. Reg had also hid a smile, but as he was in charge in Theo's absence, it was up to him to keep Declan centered.
"I agree. A young wizard does need to get a bit of fresh air every now and then which is why I make sure you spend time out here. I also realize a back yard may not satisfy an eager young wizard. In this case, you have your answer about visiting Diagon Alley. However, your Uncle Conor has asked to spend time with you this weekend. Your father has designated Saturday as the time you will spend with Conor. I imagine if you ask nicely, he'll be glad to take you to Diagon Alley. If you are on your best behavior, I also imagine Conor will not be adverse to stopping in Mr. Casper's shop. Mick might even want to accompany you and Conor. Problem solved."
Declan glanced from Esther to Reg. "Yes Reg. Problem solved."
Reggie hadn't meant to put a damper on Declan's time with Esther but his charge had gone quiet. "After you finish your sandwich, I suggest you get your broom to show your aunt what you have learned."
Esther was thrilled. Declan was becoming a really well rounded lad. "My nephew on a broom. I'd like to see that Declan. Perhaps you'll grow to be as good on a broom as Harry Potter or Viktor Krum."
Declan broke out in a wide grin. "I read all about them. I'm just learning Aunty, but perhaps I will become as brilliant on a broom as Mr. Potter or Mr. Krum." Declan tidied up his area before standing to face Reg. "Please summon my broom Reg so I can show Aunty my skills."
Reg made a soft chuckle as he turned away to Accio the broom. His charge was full of confidence.
/*/
Declan showed off his skills to which Esther oohed and aahed. "I'm so proud of you Declan. I think you might do well on the Hogwarts Quidditch team when you start school."
Declan turned to Reg with a grin. "If Reg keeps teaching me and giving me tips, I think you might be right Aunty."
Esther finished the last of her tea before rising from the chair. "Thank you for entertaining me. The both of you. I'm going to get back home to do a bit of cleaning. We weren't able to visit Ellis today, but I would like it very much if you came to spend a few hours at my house. My garden could use a steady hand."
Reg excused himself to put away the broom.
"I'd like that very much Aunty. I'm sure it will be alright, but I'll have to check with Reg."
"Alright love. You go check while I use the facilities."
By the time Esther returned from the loo, Declan was waiting patiently with book bag in hand. "I have permission to visit with you for a few hours. I will be on my best behavior. I'm bringing several of my books in case you feel like hearing me read. If you call Reg when it's time for me to return home, he'll come get me. Maybe he can have a cup of tea with you."
Esther nodded. "That's fine Declan but let's just slow down a bit. Reg is a grown wizard who may may have other things to do than sit tea with me. If everything is in order, we should get going."
"Everything is in order Aunty. Reg is working in the study. He'll see us later." Declan said, holding out a small figurine. "Reg asked that you use this already programmed portkey instead of apparating. He doesn't want me splinching myself."
Taking the figurine, Esther smiled at her nephew. "No love. Your father would be quite upset if that happened. We are ready. Let's be off."
Aunt and nephew stepped outside where Esther activated the portkey.

As busy as he was Thursday morning, Theo managed to send a group message to all the usual suspects and more inviting them to Sunday Dinner and drinks. He also left a quick message on Anna's phone when she didn't pick up. They had only just parted but he missed her and looked forward to seeing her at dinner. Declan would be happy.
Theo knew he was acting like some lovesick sot, but…. But what? He had fallen for Miss Anna Grace and didn't need to hide it except when he was scheduled to see a client.
"Get yourself together Theo." He whispered to himself.
With the personal ends tidied up, Theo prepared for his Thursday appointments. Glancing over the information, it was clear he would be going from one end of London to the other, which in the scheme of things wasn't any different from any other Thursday. He had designated Thursdays as a top level day meaning the properties he presented were in the high galleon range.
He would be meeting his first client at a fantastic property in Great Warley. It was Theo's hope the client would come under contract or at least ask for a subsequent look. Even though the property met all the client's requirements, nothing was set in stone until a contract was signed.
Moving quickly, Theo stepped outside to apparate to the appointment. The last thing he wanted was to be late to a million galleon appointment.
/*/
Blaise called out to Draco who was heading back to the workroom after speaking to Hermione. "Good morning mate. How are things going? I've had a message there will be another delightful Sunday dinner at Theo's."
Poking his head into Blaise's office, Draco nodded in the affirmative. "We'll all be as fat as Hagrid if Theo keeps this up. He's showing off his romantic interest. Anna will be hosting."
"Theo did mention that Anna was hosting. The boy is smitten. As far as getting as big as Hagrid, there is a myth which states, you won't get a fat arse if you don't eat everything put in front of you."
Draco laughed. "As are we all smitten with our own. Myth my arse. You're barking. I'm not going to embarrass myself, Theo or Anna by picking at their food. Enough about that. Stuart will be arriving on Monday then? Shall I have a tea put out?"
"No wanker. No tea is necessary. Mr. Johns will come in, be introduced, be trained then do his job. There are notices on the desks of all team leaders to that effect which I will go over further at our 2:15 pm meeting. Please plan on working inside the building today. I know there was some kind of muck up in Great Warley but it can wait. MLE has everything locked up tight."
"Alright Blaise. Donald, Brian and I will see you at 2:15. By the way, I'll be stepping out about 1:00 to have lunch will Hermione. I'll give her your regards. Right now, I need to get to the workroom. Donald was looking forward to Great Warley. It's probably the only chance he'd get to mingle among the upper crust. I imagine he'll be wanting a pay rise in hope of being able to purchase a place there."
Blaise let out a chuckle. "Even if I supported giving him a huge raise, he'd have to save for ten years to afford anything out there. Keep him on his best behavior starting Monday. If he can't behave, I'll sit him at a desk and let him do the paperwork for every department."
"Hahaha. Yes, there's that. I'll be sure to pass along your mandate to Donald. I'll speak to you later Blaise."
"Alright mate."
/*/
Back in the workroom, Draco told Brian and Donald they would be working in house and shared information about the 2:15 meeting and his 1:00 pm lunch date.
Donald had his lips shaped in a pout before Draco stopped speaking. "And here was me looking forward to seeing how the other half lives. I guess I'll have to vicariously through you boss."
Giving his wand a quick flick and a long swish, Draco lifted some materials and placed them on a back desk before giving Donald a roll of the eyes. "You don't have to live vicariously through me Mr. Macomber. My father pays his house elves well. I can put a word in his ear. You'd be rich in no time."
Brian chuckled as he headed to the back desks. Luckily for Donald, Draco felt like bantering. As for himself, he was getting out of the line of fire for when Draco didn't feel like bantering.
"Hmph. No need to get your trousers in a bunch. I was simply making conversation with my wealthy supervisor. By the way, would you like Brian and I to accompany you to lunch? I do have enough funds to pay for that."
Dropping his wand hand, Draco turned to look Donald in the face. "There is work waiting for you on the back desk. Why don't you and your conversation get back there?"
"Certainly Mr. Malfoy. The lunch offer still stands." Donald called over his shoulder.
Draco ignored the comment while Brian shook his head. Bantering was over.
/*/
Draco, Donald and Brian discussed what could have possibly happened in Great Warley and what they could expect to find the next day. They still marveled over the fact some wealthy wizard wanted a duel with another wealthy wizard.
Donald shared his opinion with his team. "This isn't the nineties when things of that sort happened. This is 2004. Everybody should be long past things of that nature or at least trying to get past the bullshite."
"I know what you mean. The Wizarding World will never heal if we can't get all come together," added Brian.
The turn in the conversation was making Draco uncomfortable. His own mother was proof some purebloods just couldn't or wouldn't let go of the past. Uncomfortable as the conversation was making him, it made Draco realize at some point he would have to have a conversation with Narcissa Malfoy. A conversation that could possibly separate a mother and son for all time.
Draco sighed which immediately put Donald on alert.
"Work faster Brian. The boss is over there sighing. I think we are boring him." Donald whispered from the side of his mouth.
Being the intelligent wizard he was, Brian turned his back to Donald and remained silent. It was almost lunch time and he was starving. In addition, he hadn't picked up the morning mail. He was glad Draco was across the room sighing and not taking him over the coals for dereliction of duty.
Donald rolled his eyes, but didn't comment on Brian's traitorous behavior. Instead, he began to tidy up a bit. "It's after noon Draco. If you have a 1:00 pm lunch engagement, Brian and I should probably go to lunch now."
With his mind still on the conversation he would be having with his mother, Draco agreed with Donald without really hearing what was said. Fifteen minutes later, he was surprised when he looked to find Donald and Brian gone. Glancing at his Wonder Wizard Watch, Draco saw it was past noon. His teammates had gone to lunch early knowing he had an appointment.
"Score one for the boys."
/*/
Forty minutes later, the two well fed OTS Agents returned to the workroom where Brian immediately owned up to his morning faux pas.
"Just so you know Draco. I overlooked the morning mail pick up, however, that has been rectified. All morning mail has been distributed. I left your one piece of mail on your desk. I'll do better this afternoon."
Draco smiled at the mea culpa knowing Brian was telling on himself before Donald had the chance to squeal. "Thank you Brian. I have a few minutes before I need to leave. I'll check my mail, use the men's and give the face a wash. Don't pick up any of Donald's bad habits while I'm gone."
Donald grunted. Brian just smiled, pulling his work in front of him.
/*/
Draco did exactly what he'd told Donald and Brian. He used the men's, washed his face then checked the envelope on his desk. Turning the envelope over, Draco was surprised to see the Malfoy Crest. Since his father had a mobile, it would appear Narcissa Malfoy had something to say.
What his mother had to say was short and sweet.
Draco,
Your father suggested you and I have a conversation. I'll expect you after work. Please be punctual as your father and I dine at 6:30. I'd like the conversation to be done before Lucius arrives home.
Narcissa Malfoy
Draco got angry then reread the letter and got angrier. His mother was being a beast. "Please be punctual my arse. We dine at 6:30 my arse. She doesn't want father to hear what she has to say. This witch is acting as though I don't know what goes on at the Manor. Like I've never lived there. Like I'm some bloke off the street."
Draco grabbed a piece of paper and pen.
Narcissa,
I've received your letter. I'll be at your doors by 5:05 pm.
Draco Malfoy
Draco read over his response. Tit for tat. He was answering rude with rude. His father would have his arse if he ever saw the letter. Folding the letter and slipping it into his inside pocket, a very angry Draco headed for the lifts trying to adjust his attitude before meeting the witch who might go knocking on the doors of Malfoy Manor if she knew about the letter.
He dropped off the reply at lobby level Owl Services.
/*/
After her conversation with Severus, Hermione began putting together a formal job description which was interrupted for a few minutes when Wil and Thom appeared at her counter.
"Good morning Hermione." Thom said, greeting her with a smile.
"Good morning Miss Granger. Thom and I are here to see Severus and Mick but thought we'd stop to speak to the beautiful Head of Transition before seeking out two average looking blokes."
Hermione grinned at both wizards. "Good morning Wil, Thom. While I appreciate the compliment, I'm sure Severus and Mick might think they are a bit above average. You should be careful with your cheek. Wouldn't you agree Thom?"
Thom pinked up a bit but remained silent. They were not going to let him forget his little faux pas with Anna.
The wizards who weren't in Hermione's area to have a long, cozy chat hurried towards the conference room when they saw Severus and Mick leave the wiring area heading towards the conference room.
As they headed towards the conference room, Thom whispered from the side of his mouth. "Am I wrong in thinking you were trying to chat up Draco Malfoy's witch yet again? I might not be the only one of us that ends up with a wand across their arse."
Wil chuckled. "She likes me, but let's not tell Draco."
Thom wanted to have a belly laugh but knew it wasn't the place or time. "Let's not tell Draco? Bit late for that. Hermione is probably on her mobile informing him as we speak. You're fucked."
Wil made a soft chuckle then straightened up. "Come on Thom. Let's go do this."
/*/
With Wil and Thom gone, Hermione put her eyes back on her scribbled notes. For now, it was just an outline because no matter what she suggested, Severus would have the last say. However, she was sure she and Severus could come to a meeting of the minds. Hermione saw herself and Anna as emissaries of sorts who could interact with important witches and wizards at the Ministry. She shrugged away the thought and got back to the outline.
Establish mobile numbers:
Attach mobile numbers to the mobiles:
Establish a mobile directory:
Fill and package orders:
Solicit new business:
Network with DMTS:
"Yes, that as well." Hermione said out loud as she thought about DMTS. She and Anna would have to have access badges like the ones Blaise used for OTS and along the lines of those used by DOM.
Hermione wasn't sure how Jean would feel about access badges, but perhaps Severus would like the idea and not reject it out of hand. In fact, if she shared her vision which would consist of issuing any authorized person a badge or emblem spelled for entry, it might become adaptable to other areas of the business.
"Yes. I'll definitely be discussing badges. Now what else?"
What else would have to wait. It was almost 1:00 pm. She had orders to drop off at Magical Transportation as well as DMTS before meeting Draco. Prominently displaying her neatly written, back at 2:00 sign, Hermione pulled on an open front jumper, gathered her bundles and headed to the doors thinking it would be nice to have an assistant so the Transition Department wouldn't have to close for lunch.
/*/
Hermione had a short conversation with the Head of Magical Transportation before excusing herself to get to DMTS. Conor was holding down the fort.
"Greetings Conor. Haven't seen you in a while. How are you?"
"Hello Hermione. It has been a while. Cassie is at lunch so you are stuck with me. What can I do for you?"
"I'm here to drop off two mobile packages per Mr. Snape." She said, handing the packages to Conor. "I was also hoping to get a peek into DMTS."
Using his wand to transport the two bundles to the pick up desk, Conor apologized telling Hermione no one was allowed inside without prior authorization from either Jean or Severus.
Hermione shrugged. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. "No need to apologize Conor. I understand. I don't have much time anyway. I'm meeting Draco in the lobby. Speaking of my handsome wizard, I need to get this arse in gear or he'll think I'm off chasing other handsome wizards."
Conor smiled as he wished Hermione a good afternoon. "If all goes well, I'll see you Sunday."
Hermione waved as she headed to the lifts. "That you will Conor. Give Cassie my regards."
/*/
Glancing at her Wonder Witch Watch, Hermione saw it was 1:07. Her handsome lunch engagement was probably standing in the middle of the lobby with a frown on his face. As Hermione shifted from foot to foot willing the lift to go faster, another thought crossed her mind. Conor had an in house training program for new mobile users. Perhaps, she and Anna could put together training instructions which could be included with each new mobile. Yup. Another thing to add to the list. Stepping out of the lift, she saw Draco right away. How could she not? He was the handsomest wizard…..
Hermione grinned to herself. "Now let's not go overboard Granger."
Draco saw her the same time she saw him. Both their smiles were blinding.
"Good afternoon Miss Granger. I'd take you in my arms and run my hands all up and down that arse, but, alas, we are in the middle of the Ministry. I'll save running my hands over your arse for later. How was your morning? Where do you want to go for lunch?"
"I don't need anything extravagant. I'm happy just being out sniffing the air in the middle of the day."
"And being with me." Added Draco.
"Yes love, and being with you. Let's go to the sandwich shop. I have a taste for a nice, big burger with lettuce, onion, and a side of chips."
Draco wanted desperately to kiss those lips, but he refrained. It wouldn't bode well for him to be front page in the Prophet. Not a good look for an OTS Agent. "Onion is it? You may want to rethink that as you'll be in close quarters with Severus Snape this evening."
With a roll of the eyes, Hermione got Draco straightened out. "For your information Mr. Malfoy, this witch knows how to brush and floss. Even if I didn't, I know how to use a wand."
"Alright love, I surrender. Ah! We're here."
/*/
When her Burger arrived, Hermione immediately tucked in.
Draco sat watching as Hermione just about shoved the burger into her mouth. "Please slow down love you're making me nauseous."
Hermione paused chewing. "Making you nauseous am I? Well learn to feed me properly in the morning. You haven't touched yours." Looking more closely at Draco, she placed her burger on the plate. "What's this then Malfoy? You look like you have something on your mind. Did Lucius call to remind you that I'm a dumb muggleborn?"
Draco frowned thinking to himself, right supposition, wrong parent. "I'm fine. You mentioned a story that went along with Anna getting hired. Entertain me."
Hermione gave Draco a skeptical look but proceeded to tell him how she almost went mad on Anna. Draco ate his chicken sandwich as he listened. However, his mind was playing a game of back and forth. Shall I mention mother's letter or should I not. Back and forth, forth and back. He finally decided not to mention any of it. They could have a conversation when he got home.
"Draco? Are you listening to me?"
"Yes I'm listening love. I'm glad everything turned out alright. What time do you think you'll be home?"
"Not sure. Severus may want to go over other things as well. Probably by 6:30 at the latest. Why?"
Draco was determined not to lie, but just as determined not to tell the truth. "I'm going to stop by the Manor."
Hermione who was cleaning her hands looked up to stare at Draco. "That's nice. Are you sure you're still welcome? I don't want to have to stun anyone."
The remark made Draco chuckle. "I don't want you running around helter skelter stunning anyone either. It will be a quick trip. I might even pick up some Chinese takeaway on the way home. Time for us both to get back. I'm going to apparate to the Ministry so I'll say it here and now. I love you Hermione Granger."
"I will be apparating to WCS, and I love you as well. Don't take any shite from Narcissa. See you tonight."
They both went their separate ways with Hermione thinking Draco was acting weird and Draco thinking, I hope I didn't come across as weird. She had one thing right. I won't be taking any shite from Narcissa or Lucius Malfoy. He sighed. He loved his parents but loved Hermione more. His mother had set the tone of the meeting. Hermione might have been joking about being unwelcome at the Manor, but after tonight, it might be a reality.
/*/
By the time Hermione returned from lunch, the meeting of the minds was over. She could see Wil and Thom over in the wiring area speaking to Mick. Three wizards seemed at ease so Hermione imagined everything was on point. After her initial assessment, Hermione got busy with her own work. At one point, she stepped into the back to look up some facts and had an idea. Pulling out her wand, she swished, flicked, zigged and zagged with the result being a reconfigured area. Where there was once a small office with one desk there was a slightly larger office with two desks. Hermione decided since she had started the set up she might as well finish. For the next bit of time, she summoned, and conjured items an assistant might need. When she was through, Anna Grace had a smart desk setup worthy of an assistant. Hermione stepped back and looked it over.
"Well done Miss Granger. If you ever want another career you could be a designer." Hermione chuckled at herself.
When she got back out front, there was a note from Severus.
Miss Granger
Your assistant might be taking over your position if I find the front counter unattended for long periods of time in the future. Please remember to see me at 5:00. Be punctual.
Severus.
Hermione read the note calling Severus a git in a very low voice while checking her watch. It was 4:48. She had been in the back for a considerable amount of time.
"Helena on a horse! I was away from the counter for a considerable amount of time." Then she added in a smarmy manner. "Covering my absence, that's what an assistant is for Sev-er-us."
After her mini meltdown, Hermione grabbed her notepad scribbled, counter coverage at the bottom of the list then headed to the git, wanker, tosser's office. She also noticed the message light on her mobile which she hadn't checked all day. Taking a quick minute, she bypassed a message from Theo then listened to Anna explain what she had done. Hermione was proud of her almost assistant. In those few seconds, she became determined to play the message for Severus. It would be his mental slap across the head. She also scribbled, training and training flyers under counter coverage.
"Brilliant Hermione Granger wins again. I am just too good to be true."
She made sure there was a pleasant smile on her face when she entered Severus' office.
/*/
All the teams were milling about getting ready to file into the large conference room when Draco arrived back from lunch. He hurried to check the workroom and found Donald and Brian waiting patiently.
"Hello mates. Sorry I cut it so close. Let's get to the meeting."
Donald was ready with a comment. "We're ready boss. Just waiting for you. If we were going to be late, we were going to be late together."
Draco smiled. His team. Sometimes they could be dolts and sometimes they made him proud. "Thank you. Let's get in there before all the good seats are gone."
/*/
Blaise's meeting was over and done by 3:10. It had been a normal meeting with Blaise handing out and discussing updates and new protocols then taking questions.
Just before ending the meeting, Blaise reminded the group Stuart Johns would be joining the department on Monday and was scheduled to spend a week training with Team1 and Team3 before being permanently placed with Team4.
Everyone laughed when Harry Potter let out a rather loud exclamation of joy.
The meeting ended on that loud and happy note.
/*/
Draco stopped off to use the men's. When he went to check his desk, he found another envelope with the Malfoy Crest. Draco opened it to find another short message from his mother. This one worse than the first.
Draco:
Adjust your attitude before you come speak to me or don't come at all. I'm still your mother.
Narcissa
Draco felt his insides tightening up. He didn't want to be at odds with his mother. He loved her, but one thing was clear. She was still in a beastly mood which didn't bode well for either of them. He put the second letter inside his pocked with the first.
/*/
The day had gone well for Anna. She had sat down with the manager at morning break to turn in her notice, after which they had discussed Anna's new position. The manager was happy for Anna but did comment she was a bit jealous of the important sounding position in an important, new business.
As they sat there speaking, an idea crossed Anna's mind. She would be in a new position revolving around mobile communications. Why not start pushing WCS product? She addressed that very thing with her manager. Excusing herself for a second, Anna stood to Accio her purse. Pulling out her mobile, she handed it to Lucy the manager.
"Have a look at this Lucy. It's one of the new mobiles. WCS has just begun to sell the product. Perhaps you'd like to purchase one."
Millie took the mobile from Anna's hand shaking her head. "Oh my Anna. I don't think..."
Before Lucy could go any farther, Anna interjected. "You sound like me before Hermione Granger trained me up a bit. The ease and convenience is worth the price."
"But who would I ring up?" Lucy asked.
Anna felt Lucy was interested so she went into sales mode. "You could ring me for now. Order one for your mum as well. You'd have two people to ring. Honestly, ringing a mobile is so much easier than sending an Owl. We might even be able to talk the other shop witches into ordering one. We could call each other. There is also a directory of people who own a mobile and their mobile numbers that is updated daily. Magic is lovely. The main thing to remember is more and more people are buying the product. There'll soon be a host of witches and wizards for you to call. Best of all, there are several different models from basic to top of the line if price is an issue. Get one for your wizard. You'll be able to talk to each other any time you wish. As I said, I've had a bit of training. Let me show you some of the features."
Lucy covered her mouth to stifle a giggle.
"What?" Asked a puzzled Anna.
"You've gone into sales overdrive like you do with the customers. I can't close the shop down, but explain to me then explain to the others one at a time. That way the floor will be covered at all times. Mobiles sound so interesting."
Right at that moment, Anna's mobile rang showing Theo calling. However, she was in the middle of her sales pitch so she didn't pick up. It became obvious Theo had left a message when the red light on the mobile started flashing. Anna's first thought was to show Lucy how to collect a message, but on second thought she didn't know how personal Theo's message might be so she decided to retrieve it later.
After fifteen more minutes, Anna stood. "I should get back out on the floor."
Lucy stood as well. "I'm interested. I'll be giving you an order for myself, my mum and Calvin my suitor, but we'd require training. Let's do this. I'll assist on the floor while you explain mobiles to the others. If you're on your game, you'll have orders from the lot of us."
"No problem. I think Hermione would be glad to set up a training session. I'll check with her after on my lunch break."
Lucy headed to the front calling over her shoulder. "I'm going to miss you so much, but we'll be able to keep in touch by mobile. I'm so excited."
Anna smiled to herself as she waited for the first of the shop witches to appear. Hermione would be proud of her assistant.

Like Lucy, the other shop witches were interested having heard about mobiles through word of mouth. It hadn't taken Anna any time to get commitments from them all. Anna didn't have any order blanks, but she had seen them at Theo's house. Taking down what she thought was the necessary information, Anna informed them she would be speaking to Hermione later and get back to them with the amount needed for deposit.
When the last witch left the office, Anna had commitments for eight basic models. She had hurriedly dialed up Hermione but the phone went to voice messaging. Anna left a message describing what she had done and asked Hermione to ring her back when she had the chance.
With all that done, Anna hurried onto the shop floor. Lucy had been gracious enough to give her time off the floor. She would work through what would have been her lunch break. It was only right.

Declan had had a great time helping his aunt but was glad to be home. He had gone straight to his room to put away his books then have a quick wash up and a pee. Reg promised he could spend some time on his broom so he had done everything in quick time. However, when he went looking for Reg, Declan was pleased to see his father coming out of the den.
"Hello dad. Are you early or am I late?"
Theo smiled at his son. For some reason, being called dad instead of father warmed his heart. He liked the sound of it. After extending his hand for a shake, Theo had pulled Declan in for a quick hug. "Good afternoon son. I am home a bit early. What have you been up to?"
Declan went on to explain that he'd had a visit with Aunt Esther and was just getting back and on his way out back to practice on his broom.
"Sounds like a full day. Before you get to broom practice, please get Reg. There's some family business I'd like to share with you both."
Many things ran through Declan's head in those few seconds. Family business? What's gone wrong? Walking swiftly down the hall he knocked on the door of Reg's quarters.
"Reg. Please come through to the living room. Dad wants to speak to the both of us."
Reg stepped out of his rooms. "A little loud are we?"
"Sorry Reg." Declan replied lowering his voice. "My dad wants to talk to us."
"Alright. Let's not keep him waiting."
/*/
When they got to the living room, Theo was sitting in the large chair waiting patiently with a concerned looking Cely standing by. "Come in men. I'll make this quick. Cely is here because as an important part of our family I want her to hear this as well. Anna will be coming to dinner tonight. While Anna visiting isn't anything new, our relationship is. I am now courting Anna and hope to make her a permanent part of our family in the future. To that end, I expect all of you to treat her as you would treat me. Dinner is at 6:00. One more thing. We will have visitors for the upcoming Sunday dinner. Anna will be hosting. Anna and I plan to announce our relationship at that time. Until then, keep this information to yourselves. That's it for now. Thank you."
Cely nodded in Theo's direction thankful he had given up the idea of selling the Nott home. She disapparated feeling happy she was going to have a new mistress.
Reg congratulated Theo, thanked him for the information then excused himself.
Declan remained on the couch with a wide smile plastered across his face. The smile was so wide it brought a wide smile to Theo's face.
"Does that big smile mean you are happy with the news about Anna?"
"It does dad. This is the way it's supposed to be. I'm very happy to be getting a mother. Perhaps Miss Grace will allow me to call her mum."
Theo straightened himself up in the chair.. Speaking softly, he explained a few things to Declan. "That is not a question we'll be asking Anna. If things go well between she and I, there'll be time enough for questions down the road. Do not embarrass me by asking forward questions. I won't like it. For now, I've shared as much as needs to be shared."
"Alright father. I understand. Miss Grace has mentioned two of her favorite meals. One is creamed cod over mashed with broccoli and salad. The other is meatloaf and gravy. May I ask Cely to prepare one or the other for dinner?"
"Absolutely. I believe meatloaf and gravy, boiled potatoes, buttered carrots and a salad will do. Simple pudding for dessert. If Cely has questions, she can see me."
Declan laughed. "Cely knows what to do. She never has questions."
Theo nodded. "That's true. About Saturday. Conor will be here around 10:00. Please be up early. Bathe and have your breakfast before your uncle gets here. I'm not sure but Mick might be coming as well."
"Excellent! Shall I ask Reg if he wants to come out with me and Uncle Conor?"
"No Declan. Saturday is meant to be time with your uncle or uncles. Reg would probably appreciate a day to himself."
"Okay father. Reg probably does need a bit of time away from me."
Rising from the chair, Theo ran his hand through Declan's hair. "He may not need time away from you, but he deserves it. After you advise Cely what she should prepare for dinner, go have your broom practice. I'll see you at dinner."
"Yes father. I'll see you at dinner."
Feeling good, Theo headed to the study to get a bit of quick work done before Anna arrived.

At 5:00 pm sharp, Draco said good night to Blaise, Donald and Brian. Donald and Brian had thrown up a hand to wave, but Blaise wanted to chat, Draco didn't. He had a place to be.
Glancing at his Wonder Wizard Watch, Blaise had intimated by that glance he thought his team manager should not be first out of the building. "You must have an important appointment if you are leaving at the stroke of five."
Draco knew Blaise wasn't being unreasonable, but the remark struck him the wrong way. "I'm not in the habit of leaving early Blaise. If you're going to begrudge me a few minutes, I'll be sure to stay late tomorrow. Right now, I need to be at the Manor. Mother has something she wants to discuss. If that isn't an acceptable excuse, Owl Narcissa."
Blaise jumped up. "Slow down mate."
Draco didn't look back as he strode to the lifts. He would get it sorted with Blaise tomorrow.

Narcissa Malfoy was pacing. She wanted to get Draco straightened out once and for all. She was the mother. He wasn't going to roll over her even if Lucius seemed to be on his side. The only problem was she'd been too hasty in addressing her son with such malicious remarks. If Lucius ever saw those messages, he might make good on his word to boot her out of Malfoy Manor. Additionally, one of the most important things she'd been taught was never put in writing something someone could hold over your head.
Everything she was thinking left her head. She'd heard the swish of apparition. Draco had arrived.
Narcissa waited. No one came through. Then she heard a second swish. The first thing that popped into her head was Draco had brought the muggleborn with him. However, when he appeared at the door to her sitting room, he was alone.
"Good evening mother."
"So you now remember I'm your mother. How dare you address me like this?" She shouted, waving what appeared to be his reply.
Even though his mother had never spoken to him with a raised voice or in this tone, Draco remained calm. "I'm here mother because you want to talk."
Replying in the same raised voice, Narcissa told Draco she didn't want to talk. It was his father who suggested she should. "I'll tell you this up front. No muggle born intent on trapping my son in marriage will cross this threshold. You would understand if you weren't thinking with…."
Suddenly, a glowering, irate Lucius was in the doorway. Raising his voice to a decibel Draco hadn't ever heard, he lit into Narcissa. "YOU STAND THERE SPEAKING THIS FILTH TO YOUR SON?"
Narcissa froze seeming to sink into herself. "Lucius I..."
Draco shifted from foot to foot. This was not something he wanted to see or hear. "Father. Perhaps I should come back when things have settled down."
"YOU'LL REMAIN WHERE YOU ARE. NARCISSA MALFOY WANTS TO FIGHT HER SON. SHE'LL BE FIGHTING ME AS WELL." Lucius took a deep breath. "My apologies Draco. My anger is to the point I'd probably shout at the Minister if he walked through the doors."
Even though it was a serious situation, Draco smiled within himself. Lucius Malfoy had gone all Death Eater. Someone might just get hexed.
