-The Enchanter of Fairy Tail-

Chapter 30: Departure.

Year: X756. 28 years till Canon begins.

Cade POV:

A good three months had passed since I had received my sudden inspiration from Pierce and Charles and it was now the season of autumn. Many of the trees in our garden, as well as the ones scattered across Magnolia had now began to shed their leafs causing them to scatter all across the ground.

This was a fun thing for the children of Magnolia, as they always enjoyed standing on fallen leafs to see if they were crunchy or not. Also it showed that winter was coming, which meant snowmen and snow angels (granted, Magnolia doesn't get much snow.)

However, in our back garden leafs covered the entire garden floor like a very crusty carpet. Normally my father would have been able to just use his magic to rot and decompose the leafs by removing the water from them. Of course with him gone, Pierce and Charles had the daunting task to rake all the leaves and throw them over the wall.

Also, the orange leafs signalled that winter was coming which did mean that I wouldn't be able to read my books outside as much as I would have wished for. On the bright side, It meant that the many dusty fireplaces would finally have a purpose and would be lit again if the house got too cold. Then again I do have a sword that can fire off fire whenever I wish… Magic really is handy huh?

Whenever Gildarts wasn't going on a S-Class quest he would come with me on a few of the other jobs that we were both able to do. I had noticed that over the years since I had joined and me and Gildarts had been going on jobs before, that he was slowly doing less and less on each job. I on the other hand seemed to be doing more and more on the jobs. Gildarts laid back personality at work, or him having much more confidence in me?

We had done every job ranked D to A-Class, however I have not yet done an A-Class job by myself before. I wasn't too sure whether I had what it took to complete the job without any outside help. I had definitely considered taking a job for myself and doing it, but I just wanted to make sure I was strong enough before so.

Master had been looking for a place or person that could help me with layering my magic successfully, however he had found nothing of the sort. It was beginning to annoy me that the method of solution was right there in front of me, yet I was unable to execute it! I did actually try to get it working myself by just immediately casting the two spells together, but it didn't work.

Truth be told, Master might have a lot on his hands right now as it is, so I can't fully blame the man for not being able to help me as much as he wants to. He had the S-Class trials coming up, the usual Wizard Saint meeting coming up, dealing with the destruction of property charges that our guild always received… and perhaps the biggest one, Ivan's girlfriend!

Yes, the young, shy and albeit a little unnerving young adult had found love!

Ivan didn't declare this to the guild, nor did Master. But more and more people kept seeing Ivan with a girl around him all the time when he was in town. A few of the members curiosity approached Ivan about it, and son of Makarov admitted that he did indeed have a girlfriend. It look less then ten minutes for words to spread, and the whole guild now knew within a day.

Ivan had also been busy training up his Illusion Magic with Quikora which was another surprise to me. I'm guessing that he wants to be properly prepared in case he gets selected for this years S-Class trial. According to Gildarts, the Illusion Magic was how he lost in the first place. Ivan seems to be improving upon his failure.

Nothing of interest had happened in the rest of the guild over the last few months. A few new members joined that mostly kept to themselves and a few left, them having to leave the guild due to issues that may be family or country related.

Currently I was standing under a leaf-naked tree in the backyard, trying to catch one of the few remaining leafs as it was falling.

This was a challenge that was much harder than it sounded. The leaf could go and fly away in the complete opposite direction of your hand, and god forbid if the wind started to blow.

I had my hand help up, and I had noticed that a leaf was about to fall off the tree, as I noticed that it was hanging on by a thread. Sure enough, the leaf then fell of the tree and began to glide down towards me. I had my hand held up ready to catch it.

'Come on… Just come towards my hand…' I had my hand outstretched and open as the leaf was on course to falling right into my palm. There was not even a breeze of wind in the air, so I was confident that this would be the one for me!

'Any second now… come on!' I began to get a bit nervous as I saw the leaf get closer and closer to my hand.

Just as it was about to fall right into my palm, a hand suddenly came out of nowhere and snatched it right before my eyes!

"Hah! Looks like I win then!" Came the smug voice of Lilly to my side.

"What the-!?" I turned around in shock and saw that Lilly was standing on a stool that she most likely brought from inside the manor to use here.

I had brought Lilly out here to hang out with me in the manor, as Gildarts and Cornelia were out on a date right now. Them being busy all the time meant that I could spend more time with Lilly which was always nice. I thought that Lilly was inside the manor right now, as she needed to go to the bathroom. I had told her that I would be outside trying to catch leafs from trees. Seems she decided to join me in the moment.

She was wearing a nice pink and red coloured dress. Her short hair had grown out a bit these past few months and now came down to her shoulders. She wasn't wearing any shoes or socks, letting her bare feet sink in the grass and fallen leafs.

"L-Lilly!? That's my leaf there!" I exclaimed to her in anger.

"No it's not? I caught it, so it's technically mine now." She said arrogantly, with a smirk forming on her face.

"No it's not!"

"Yes it is!"

"No it's not!"

"Yes it is!"

"Argh!" I yelled in anger. I then took a step towards her. "Hand it over, and I'll let you walk away free." I warned her.

Lilly knowing what I meant here, began to get a little nervous and took a step back. However, my threat didn't work as she tightened her grip on the leaf and smiled at me.

"Well if you want it so bad come and get it!" She shouted as she then began to run away from me.

"Huh, oh, alright then!" I smirked as I began to chase after her around the garden.

Lilly was always a fast girl. However, being on jobs that meant you were always running either to catch thief's, criminals and scammers or running away from the Rune Knights… that last one happens more times then I care to admit… To put it simply, I was able to catch up to Lilly within a minute.

I jumped at her as I got closer to her, and we both landed in a heap on the ground. I then immediately started to use my torture technique on her:

I got a hard grip on Lilly's arm and rolled her over. I then began to tickle her arms, legs and under the chin. Lilly was always a ticklish girl, as I saw Cornelia do it to her when she was younger and it was quite effective on the her.

Lilly tried her best to hold in the laughter, but she simply could not resist the way my fingers tickled her skin. She burst out into laughter, and began to try to break free from my grip.

"Hahaha! Please Cade… Hahahahaha! S-Stop… Hahahahaha!" She tried to convince me to stop as I continued my onslaught on her skin. I did remove my hand from her, as I heard that she was struggling to breath a little due to all the laughing.

"Thank… *cough cough* you Cade…" She muttered with a smile, as she closed her eyes and looked up at the sky.

"Well where is it?" I demanded.

"Gone."

"What!? What do you mean gone!?" I shouted in disbelief.

"I dropped it as I was running." Lilly explained smugly to me. "Now you'll never find it!" She gave a half laugh at finishing that sentence there.

"Argh..." I moaned. "Hmmph! Well you know want that means then!" I stated as I began to now stretch my fingers.

"No, no, no, no, no! Please!" Lilly pleaded with me.

"Heh, time for round two!" I grinned as I prepared to tickle Lilly for the next minute and a half.

"Three." I called out.

"Cade please…" Lilly started.

"Two." I spoke.

"Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!" Lilly begged.

"One." My face got serious.

"Nooooo!" Lilly shouted in defeat.

"Here it com-!"

"Hey! What's going on out here!?" Came the abrupt voice of my mother as she opened the back door to the manor. That caused me to stop and turn to look at her with surprise.

Lilly took that moment to break her hand free from my grip and get away from me. I turned back to look at her with shock and a bit of anger, as I then reached out to try and grab her again.

"Hey! I asked a question you two!" My mother shouted at us.

Me and Lilly immediately stopped what we were doing and we both looked around to my mother. "O-Oh we were just playing there!" I informed her with an awkward laugh.

"Hmph! You were gonna tickle me to death!" Lilly lied.

"I-I was not!" I shouted back.

"That's enough you two! Cade, Master Makarov is here to see you." My mother stated to me.

"Oh really?" I said with surprise.

"Yes he's in the lounge. I told him I'd come and get you and bring him to you. Wouldn't want to keep him waiting would you now?" My mother asked at the end.

"N-No! I'll be right over!" I said suddenly, as I stood back up and looked down at Lilly.

She smirked and blew a raspberry at me. I gave her a loud hmph, before leaving her on the grass. Then I headed into the house to see Master Makarov for whatever he came here for. It must have been important if he came all the way up here to see me.

I made my way into the lounge and saw Master there sitting on one of the couches. I saw that he was reading a magazine of some sort. Master was very interested in what the contents of it were, as his face was quite close to the paper. I took a closer look at the title of the magazine and saw that it was an issue of Sorcery Weekly.

'What's Master doing reading that?' I wondered.

"Hey uh, Master?" I spoke up to him.

Master Makarov practically jumped out of his seat when I spoke up to him just there. He had a look of shock and horror on his face when he saw me.

"A-Ah! T-There you are Cade. Was wondering when you'd show up." Master was more or less fumbling the words out of his mouth. He immediately stuffed the magazine in his jumper pocket.

"What were you reading there? I know it was Sorcerer Weekly, but what in particular?" I asked with interest.

"Oh, er… Well I was just checking to see if Fairy Tail had gotten any recognition in here. You know! All the important stuff a guild master should be checking on!" He explained with an awkward laugh as he waved his hand in the air.

"Uh, right…" I said in confusion.

"Anyway!" He said suddenly, catching me off guard. "I'm here regarding the situation about you layering your magic." He informed me.

"Oh! Have you found someone that could help me with that?" I asked with anticipation.

"Yes I have. Asked a few of my friends to take a look around the country while they're travelling. One of them got back to me saying he found a nice village that had a man that could stack his magic on top of one another when casting spells." Master explained.

"Oh! That sounds like it could help me right out!" I smiled with enthusiasm.

Makarov nodded his head. "Indeed." He then continued. "My friend asked the man about the time it took to learn this process. I'm afraid to say that it takes two months of learning to accomplish."

"Wh-What!?" I exclaimed with surprise. "Two whole months!? Master you've gotta be joking here!"

"Afraid not. Two months is the time needed to learn such a technique. I doubt the man would lie. Unfortunately, the man chooses not to leave his village most of the time, so I'd doubt he'd come here." Master explained. "You don't think two months of training is too long for you?" Master questioned suddenly.

"I'd be missing out on things like jobs with Gildarts, seeing my friends, hanging out at the guild and so on and so forth." I listed with annoyance. "I guess I'd have my birthday there as well…"

'Dammit. I want to learn how to layer my magic correctly, but I don't want to be away from everyone for two months… I doubt the guy has a one month version.'

I thought about this carefully, me thinking of everything I would be missing out on while I would be gone. Master seems to notice my thinking and spoke up.

"You know you wouldn't be alone there. Your mother would most likely come with you. Plus I can always let you know if anything important comes up here at the guild."

"That's a good point." I muttered to myself. "Well… I doubt anywhere else will offer me this for free…"

"So you'll take it then?" Master asked curiously.

'Well I don't see any better options available.'

"Yeah I think I will take it. It's not like I'll lose anything by doing it." I confirmed. "Hold on… It is free right?" I asked with appreciation.

"Oh yes of course!" Master replied. "Now then as for details about the individual in question: The man is located at a place called Lavender Village far to the north of Fiore. You would have to get the train line to Crocus and walk the rest of the way. It'd take a few days or so to get there." Master explained.

"Well we can easily make that journey, we have the money to do so." I stated as I put my hand on my chin. "Ah speaking of money! Pierce and Charles would have to deal with the rent every month while we're away. I'll have to let them know when we are about to leave.

"And when will you be leaving then?" Master asked.

'Oh yeah I guess the decision falls to me here. Hmm when to leave… I guess the sooner the better. I'd really like to get this issue sorted out ASAP.'

"Well if possible, how about tomorrow?" I suggested. "That gives me today to let everyone know what's going on."

The old man nodded his head a bit when he heard that. "Hmm, alright then. It's the afternoon right now, so I think it'd be best if you'd head down to Magnolia and see whoever it is you need to see then." Master recommended.

"Yeah I think I'll do that. Gotta tell mother about all this though. Hope she doesn't mind too much…" I muttered as I scratched my head.

"Well I'll be off then. Got some important stuff to do. It certainly won't write itself." Makarov declared as he stood up from the couch and made his way out of the room. "Will I be seeing you tomorrow then Cade?" He wondered before he left the room.

"Well, we'll probably be leaving in the morning I'd guess. Perhaps so then." I confirmed to the Master.

"Well then I'll see you tomorrow!" He declared cheerfully as he made his way out of the manor and back down to town.

When he left I sighed to myself. 'Good grief, that was quite the information he just gave me there. To think I'd be away for two whole months…' I then stood up and exited the lounge and went to try and find my mother. I found her outside, sitting down and playing cards with Lilly under a tree.

I then made my way over onto them to explain want just happened there with Makarov.

"Hey you two." I called out to them.

Both females turned around to see me when I said that. Lilly gave me a smile – whether it was sarcastic or not from what happened earlier I could not tell, and my mother looked curious to see what had transpired earlier.

"Cade, how did things go with Master Makarov?" Asked my mother with interest.

I sat down next to the girls. "Well I did learn a potential way to learn out how to layer my magic correctly." I started off.

"Ooh! How are you gonna do it?" Lilly questioned with eagerness.

"Well I can't do it here. I'd have to go away for two months to see a man at place called Lavender Village which is to the north of Fiore." I scratched my head saying that. My mother looked shocked to hear that, and Lilly showed a look of surprise.

"What! Two months away from town?!" Lilly said in shock.

"That's quite a fair time you'd be away for… Can't the man come here?" Mother suggested.

"I already asked Master and he said that he couldn't." I replied to mother.

"Wait will you be going by yourself?" Lilly spoke up.

"Well I was kinda hoping that you could come with me." I directed to my mother. "It's a decent while to be away, so I'd be nice if you could come and keep me company." I asked.

"Well if you want me to come then of course! I'm your mother, so if you'd want me to come with you on something then of course I'd come! When do you want to leave?"

"Is tomorrow ok?" I asked, a bit surprised at how well this was going.

"Yes that's fine by me. That means you have to use today to pack stuff for going, and presumably see your friends off." She stated. "I'll go and see Pierce and Charles, make sure they watch over the house while we're gone."

She then stood up and began to make her way into the manor. Before she left she dropped her cards on the ground for Lilly to see. "You would have won that game there Lilly. Well done." She nodded with a smile as she then walked away.

That left me and Lilly alone to talk about that. Lilly looked a little glum.

"You're really going away for two whole months?" She said again.

"Yeah… I think this is the only way for me to get past this little issue of mine." I replied sadly. "I'll miss you all."

"You'd be away for your 14th birthday, I just realised that." Lilly spoke up.

"Yeah… I realised as well. Sucks I know, but I guess there's always next year." I saw that Lilly was still a bit upset by the news. "Hey what's up?"

'She can't be that upset about the idea of me being gone for two months can she?' I thought with confusion.

"Nothing… it's just… ever since Cornelia got together with Gildarts, she hasn't been able to spend as much time with me as she used to."

'Oh. I… didn't expect that.'

"I mean I don't dislike the fact that she's happy with Gildarts, it's just the fact that I don't get to hang out with her as much. I've enjoyed spending time with you while she's been busy… but now you're going away as well." She said as she lowered her head to the ground.

"You think you'll be all alone." I said to her.

Lilly nodded.

Lilly had always been a bit shy when it came to making friends. We had met by accident years ago, when she tumbled over the stone wall in our backyard. She had met Cornelia through their mothers meeting each other. I had been the one to introduce Gildarts to her. Due to that, she has never really gone out herself and tried to make friends. Really they just seemed to come to her.

"Well…" I struggled to think of way to reassure her here. "You know Cornelia won't be with Gildarts all the time. Plus I'm sure the three of you can do some stuff together!" I suggested. "Also who's saying you can't come up and visit me while I'm up there?"

Lilly seemed to cheer up a bit when she heard that. She looked up at me and gave a small smile. "Yeah I guess you have a point there. But you better be back in those two months!" She said, as she pointed a finger at me.

"Hey! I'll be trying to finish this training as soon as I can to ensure I'll be back as soon as possible!" I told her with a smirk on my face.

A few minutes later:

"What? You're leaving for two months?" Said Cornelia with a surprised look on her face.

"What exactly will you be doing?" Asked Gildarts with interest.

Me and Lilly had left the manor and headed down to town to find Gildarts and Cornelia to tell them the news. We found them walking through town together, and intercepted them to tell them the news. Gildarts was leaning back against a wall and Cornelia was next to him, her head resting on his shoulder.

I had told them about the fact that I could potentially solve my magic problem by going to Lavender Village for two months and learning from this man who supposedly lived there. Both seemed very surprised by this information. Cornelia seems more shocked by this, and Gildarts was more interested about what I would be doing there.

I looked to Cornelia, answering her first. "I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing to achieve this, but I can't see any other options available to me at the moment." I turned to Gildarts answering him.

"That means you won't be here for your birthday. You might even miss out on the S-Class trials this year too." Gildarts stated to me.

"Well I doubt I would have been chosen this year just because I would have reached the minimum age." I shrugged.

Cornelia then moved her head up off of Gildarts and stood up straight. "Well when are you leaving for it?" She quizzed.

"Hopefully tomorrow." I explained casually.

"Tomorrow?!" Gildarts exclaimed. "Wow, you're sure in a hurry to learn this then, huh?" He muttered.

"No time like the present." I shrugged.

"Well it's not like we won't see you the whole two months. I'm sure we can all go up there and visit you one time!" Lilly suggested.

"Yeah! I should have plenty time these next two months!" Gildarts spoke up.

"Same here. Nothing exciting ever happens at my place." Cornelia said.

"Thanks guys." I smiled at the three of them when they said that they could all make time to come up and see me. I was then reminded of a question for Gildarts.

"Hey Gildarts, you ever been to Lavender Village before? I haven't." I was curious to learn a bit more about the village as I had not heard about it before, nor had I seen it on many of the detailed maps of Fiore.

"Never heard of it." Gildarts answered as he seemed to try and recall the village.

I nodded my head. "I see…"

"How long will it take for you to get there? Lilly asked.

"We'll have to get the train tomorrow and take it all the way up to Crocus. Then we'll have to hire a carriage to take us the rest of the way. I think it'll take around two days on the train, and then maybe half a day in the carriage. Chances are we'll have to stop at a nearby town for the night and resume the journey tomorrow." I explained to her.

"Well I hope the weather holds up. It'd be terrible if it delayed or halted your travel. Means it'd only take you longer to come back." Gildarts spoke.

"Haven't seen the weather reports so anything could happen on the way." I scratched my head in thought at my journey being delayed.

"So what's the plan for the rest of the day then?" Cornelia asked.

"Probably just relaxing at home, and sorting through my stuff to see if Pierce and Charles missed anything while packing my suitcase." I explained. "I'll still see you guys tomorrow, and I'll be popping round to the guild to see everyone off there. We'll probably be leaving close to the afternoon."

"Well you better make sure to learn how to turn all your ice into stone while you're there!" Gildarts stated, smirking as he pointed a finger at me. "I'd like to see how well you can hold up against me when can do that." He declared.

"Is that all you think about?" Cornelia sighed sarcastically to Gildarts, as she turned away from him with her arms crossed.

"Course not!" Gildarts remarked quickly. "I'm always thinking about you." He said softly, as he wrapped his arms round Cornelia's back.

"Ok, that's me going now!" I said quickly, not needing to see how this turns out.

"I'll be going then as well. My mom needs me back home later for something." Lilly said, as she waved the both of them goodbye, before walking away with me.

Lilly spoke up to me, after a few minutes of walking.

"Those two are certainly something, aren't they?" I said to Lilly as we both walked through town.

"You can say that again." Lilly giggled as she walked beside me. "Hard to think that a year ago, the two of them were hardly near each other. Now they're practically sticking together." She giggled.

Lilly then looked around to me. "What are you bringing with you then?"

"Well I'll be bringing some clothes and maybe a book to read?" I myself didn't sound to sure what I would be bringing with me. Normally Pierce and Charles would sort this stuff out for me. I would then just look it over and see if they missed anything.

"You don't sound to sure…" Lilly said to me, her raising an eyebrow at me.

"What? It'll all be sorted out when I get back home." I stated as I waved my hand to dismiss the question.

Then again, now that I'm a wizard and have magic. I can bring quite a few important things with me that the average person wouldn't. A reread of the book about Ice Magic Master got me a few years back couldn't hurt, not to mention Malvel's spell book. I had always been forgetting to translate more of that, as it was now permanently in my Requip storage.

We had now came up to Kardia Cathedral, which meant we had to now go our separate ways. "I'll see you tomorrow then? I'll definitely try to see you three before we head off." I said to Lilly.

"You better! I'll be missing you while you're gone." She stated.

"Don't worry! I'll be back before you know it!" I assured her, waving my hand in her direction.

I smiled at her, before speaking up to her. "Anyway, I'll be heading back now. I'll see you tomorrow then?"

"Yeah I'll be sure to see you off at the train station!" She said enthusiastically. "I'll see you then!" She waved at me, as she then ran off towards her house.

I waved as she left, before then making my way back up towards home, to see about my luggage for the journey.

Upon arriving back home, I was greeted by Pierce and Charles who were both coming down the stairs. I made my over to them so I could greet them,

"Oh! Sir Philipe!" Came Charles voice with surprise. We heard that you were going away for two months."

"Your Mother said that it was because of your magic correct?" Pierce spoke up.

"Correct. I actually have to thank you two for that." I said, causing both servants to give a look of confusion. "It was the both of you that gave me the idea to try and find a location to help me with my magic." I explained, with me now at the bottom of the stairs.

"Really?" Charles put a hand over his mouth in shock.

"We helped you with that?" Pierce wondered.

Clearly both of them didn't remember what had caused this to happen, but I didn't matter as long as I credited them for it.

"We caused this to happen then hmm?" Charles mussed, as he scratched his chin. "Say, I have a request if you don't mind? I heard you'd have to pass by Crocus to get to your destination by your mother. Think you could pick me up a souvenir while passing through?" He requested shyly.

A souvenir?

"H-Hey! What's with this all of a sudden!" Pierce demanded. "How can you ask Sir Philipe to buy you a souvenir when I was seconds away from asking him myself!?"

Both servants then began to argue with each other about who I should be buying a souvenir for.

'Didn't expect this.' I grinned with a bit of entertainment.

"Hey." I raised my voice for them to hear. Both of them stopped talking and turned to face me. "I'll pick something up for the both of you. It was the both of you that helped me with this after all." I stated to them.

"Really?" They both said in sync.

"A-Are you sure about that Sir Philipe? It doesn't have to be anything big and fancy." Charles spoke up to me.

"So it's ok if I bring home some pencils from a Crocus tourist gift shop then?" I asked sarcastically.

"Well, I mean-" Charles began to say in protest.

"Just kidding!" I chuckled with a smile. "I'll get the both of you something that you won't find in a gift shop." I confirmed, assuring them.

Then I remembered something important to ask them. "By the way, did you pack my suitcase? If so, what did you put in it?" I asked.

Pierce was the one to answer that for me. "We put some clothes, a towel, anything important that you would use in a bathroom, that book you started reading… think that's about it I believe."

"I see. Well thank for that." I thanked them, as I moved upstairs into the second floor and into my bedroom.

Upon entering my room I saw my suitcase on my bed lying open for me to see inside. I moved over to it and looked in to see what was there. Sure enough I saw some clothes, bathroom necessities, a book and a few small other things as well. Pierce and Charles always came through for me when they packed my stuff for me.

I did notice that there was a bit of room for a few more books that I could probably squeeze in. I picked the book of Ice Magic that Master got me a few years back and shoved it in, I also picked up a few more books and fired them in as well.

Afterwards, I closed my suitcase and lifted it off my bed and put in on the floor. I then glanced to the left wall of my room.

I had recently paid for a huge map of Fiore a year ago, so I could see where all the towns are for going on jobs. The map was in a frame and was hanged up on my wall so I could always see it. I was currently looking for Lavender Village, which I should find up close to the top of the map that I have.

My eyes skimmed the map trying to find the village, however I was unable to locate Lavender Village.

I sighed when not being able to find it. 'Why isn't the village here? This map was created fairly recently. I doubt Master was lying about the place.' I scratched my head in confusion at this error.

With nothing else to do, I brought my suitcase out of my room and down the stairs, for it to rest in the lounge until tomorrow. I then kicked back and relaxed for the rest of the day, me curious as what this unwritten village will look like.

The next day then arrived, and I woke up due to the sun on my closed eyes. Seems I forgot to close the curtains to my window. Alas, this at least meant that I was up and ready for the trip. I then looked at the clock hanging on the wall in front of me. The time read 9:47am which was a pretty good time to wake up at considering the time we were leaving at.

I then went downstairs and had some breakfast (a bit of a bigger one mind you as I'll be on a train for the next two days.) Next, I ran upstairs, got a shower and got dressed. I was currently wearing a nice red short-sleeved shirt, with some dark blue shorts. I had also slipped on some nice trainers with some ankle socks for comfort. This was a vacation of sorts in some way.

I then headed downstairs and saw my mother with her suitcase in hand. Pierce and Charles standing in front of her. I reached the bottom of the stairs and the three of them turned to look at me.

"Ah, Cade. Seems you're ready to go now." My mother remarked. "I remember the times in which me and your father always had to wake you up ourselves."

"Heh…" I smiled with a nod.

"So that's us away then?" I asked curiously.

"Yes, that's around 10:30am now. We have to spend two days on a train to Crocus. Then we'll have to hire carriage for the rest of the way." My mother told me.

"Ok then! Let me grab my suitcase." I said, as I ran into the lounge, and then exited, wheeling my suitcase behind me. "That's me then."

"Very well. Then we shall be departing now." My mother said, as she turned her head to look at Pierce and Charles.

"Do not worry M'Lady! The both of us will watch over this place carefully." Charles assured.

"I should hope so." My mother said with a nod. "Remember. 3,750,000."

"Of course!" The both of them nodded quickly.

"Excellent." My mother smiled at them. "Well then, I'll see you two in two months time."

"Yes! I'll be looking forward to coming back here when it's all done and dusted!" I spoke up with a grin.

Me and my mother then made our way to the door, and we opened it. "Bye Pierce! Bye Charles!" I waved to the servants, with my mother waving as well. Finally we exited our house and headed down the path into Magnolia.

"So then." My mother said to me as we walked down the path. "You want to see your friends before we leave?" She asked curiously.

"Yeah. We just need to stop by Fairy Tail and then go round to my friends houses." I said turning round to look at her, before looking back down at Magnolia.

When we got to the Fairy Tail guild, I went to go inside the guild while mother stayed outside. I opened the doors in excitement and shouted into the guildhall for everyone to hear.

"Hey everyone! That's me away now! I'll see you all in two months time!" I yelled using my hand to project my voice into the guildhall.

"See ya later Cade!" "Where're you off too?" "Bring me back a souvenir from there!" "Hope you get stronger!" "You have fun now!" "You're lucky Cade. Not everyone here gets to go on a little vacation like you." "See ya in two months kid!"

Came the many encouraging voices from inside the guildhall. I looked around to try and find Master Makarov, but I couldn't see him anywhere.

"Looking for someone?" Came a voice from below me, to my right.

I looked down and saw Master dressed in his rather causal attire holding a jug of ale in his hand.

"Master!" I smiled when seeing him.

"Well I suppose that's you off then?" Master questioned as he looked up at me.

"Sure am Master! I'll be heading off to see my friends, and then we'll both be heading to Lavender Village." I explained to him.

"That's good to hear." Master nodded when I said that. "Gildarts hasn't came into the guild yet, so chances are he'll still be in his house."

"I see. Thanks for that… and thanks for finding this place for me." I gave Master a hug after I thanked him. Master was a bit surprised by that gesture, but he returned the hug.

"Thank me? I think you should thank my friend for that tip. Maybe you'll get to meet him one day." Master remarked, as we then both broke the hug.

"Maybe. Anyway! I'll see you in two months time!" I shouted as I exited the guild, waving at Master and the members in there as I did.

With that said and done, me and mother went and headed towards Lilly's house as it was the next closest to us.

Upon arriving, mother knocked on the door, and Lilly was the one to open it.

She smiled when she saw me. "Cade!" She said with happiness.

"Hi Lilly!" I greeted back. "That's us away to the station now. Just came to say goodbye to you before we left." I explained to her.

"Thanks for that Cade." She replied. "Have you seen Gildarts or Cornelia yet? I think Cornelia said yesterday that she would be going to see Gildarts early today."

"Really? Guess that saves me some time then. You er, gonna be ok for me going away then?" I asked with a frown.

"Yeah I'll be fine now." Lilly assured me. "I can still hang out with Cornelia when she's not busy all the time."

"That's good to hear." I smiled with a bit of relief. "I'll be heading off to see Gildarts and hopefully Cornelia now."

"Alright then! I'll see you when you come back in two months! You'll be 14 years old then!" Lilly grinned, as she then hugged me which caught me by surprise this time.

I hugged her back. "Don't worry! I'll be back in two months! The days will practically fly by!" I assured her, as I then broke the hug. We both smiled at each other, before I then moved away from her and began to head away to Gildarts house.

"Bye Lilly!" I shouted as I waved goodbye to her.

"Bye Cade!" Lilly shouted as she waved back at me.

Me and my mother then began to make out way towards Gildarts house. Me having to show her the way there as we were walking. Mother was surprised see how nice Gildarts little house was by the river as she seemed to marvel at the area.

I then marched up and chapped the door to the house. I was then greeted by the face of Gildarts who seemed surprised and happy to see me here.

"Cade!" He exclaimed in delight. "Hey Cornelia guess who's here?" He turned around and called into the house.

"Who is it?" Came the voice of Cornelia. Her voice sounded like it was coming from far into the house, but I soon heard footsteps and later saw Cornelia behind Gildarts.

"Ah Cade!" She said in surprise. "Is that the two of you off then?" She asked as she came up to stand next to Gildarts.

"Yes it is." My mother replied for me. "We'll be heading to the station after this."

"And then we'll see you back here in a few months time huh?" Gildarts said.

"Yeah. Now that I think about it, I might not be here for the S-Class trial coming up. I might come back before it happens, or I maybe after it happens. There is never really a specific date for them." I said in realisation.

"You better make sure you train up! I'll be curious to see how well you perform with your magic when you get back here." Gildarts crossed his arms with a smirk.

"Really? Well I'll be sure to do the best I can up there." I grinned. "Alright, I'll see you two lovebirds in two months time!" I said as I waved up my hand in the air, as I turned away from them. Me and mother then walking away from the house.

"Later Cade!" Gildarts said.

"You have fun over there as well!" Cornelia shouted as we walked away.

With all of my friends seen, saying goodbye to everyone at Fairy Tail and knowing that the manor is secure; me and my mother made our way to Magnolia Station, to get the next train to Crocus.

We made it to the station and conveniently, there was a train right there for us! We both boarded, and I took another look at the town of Magnolia behind me. It would be quite a while before I return here I reckoned, as the doors to the carriage we were on closed behind me.

And that my dear viewers, is another chapter done and dusted! Hope you enjoyed it! You are welcome to leave a review of your thoughts if you wish.

Cade has finally learned of a location that has a man that can help him combine his magic successfully before it leaves his body! Now he travels there to learn how to do this with his mother.

I decided to bring June along with him, as I felt like it would be a bit strange for her to let her son go to the other side of the kingdom for two months by himself. Also I think it'll be nice to see them interact with each other a bit more than usual.

Anyway, now that has all been written and done, I look forward to seeing you in the next chapter!
