Chapter 42: Skeletons in the Closet
Year: X756. 28 years till Canon begins.
Cade POV:
"Now then. Just where exactly do I begin…?" Master Han pondered to himself as I sat down on my seat.
"Just start at… the beginning?" I suggested, with me not even sure how this story could even begin.
"I suppose that would be best. Though a lot of things might not make sense at first, but I will try to explain the best I can." Master Han assured me. "Just let me know if you're confused about something."
"Ok… Just start whenever you're ready."
"I am not sure whether you know this or not, but 200 years ago, a meteor crashed into a village outside the mountain we are residing in right now. The villagers in that village were the ancestors of the people living in here right now. Due to the effects of the meteor, the villagers were forced into the mountain to hide and they have lived there ever since." Master Han started.
"Hey, I know this story! Elder Lotho told it to me a few days ago." I piped up up I recognising the details.
"Ah, so you do know." Master Han commented. "I had a feeling he would have told you. I take it you know the story about how the young man touched the blue orb and caused it to be bound to him?"
"Yeah he told me that part. Then he confessed about the blue orb and was banished from the village." I said, finishing the story.
"Yes… but that is not the whole story relating to that boy. There is more to his tale." Master Han remarked with a sympathetic look.
"More?"
"Yes. When the boy was banished from the village he always felt something strange over him. Like a… weight of sorts. It was not heavy, nor difficult to move around with. It was after a few years – decades as a matter of fact that he found something strange happen to him. He stopped aging." Master Han said with a sort of pain in his voice.
"Where there should have been grey hairs and wrinkles, there were instead new black hairs and smooth skin. The orb had put a curse on him. He would never age as long as the orb was bound to him. Some may see it as a blessing, he however saw it as a curse. So he chose to keep a watchful eye over the orb to ensure it could never fall into the wrong hands." Master Han explained to me.
"…"
"… And that was you then?" I realised, upon figuring out the details.
"You catch on quick." Han praised me. "But yes. I was the boy in the story." He said with sadness.
"T-That's insane!" I cried. Even though I figured it out just before now, it still hit hard for me to hear him confirm that detail.
'I don't believe it! Master Han is over 200 years old! Of course I have a TON of questions for him, but it looks like he has something more to say. I'll hold off on that for a bit.' I figured as I saw him looking like he was ready to speak up again.
"200 years ago, I was a young man training to be a blacksmith. My family were a fairly happy one, as the village we lived in gave us all we needed. My girlfriend was happy with me, and I felt like life was the best it could be for me."
"That all changed one night when I saw what I thought was a shooting star outside of my window. I was about to make a wish before I realised that it was coming closer the village. It was a meteor! I saw a fragment break off from it and crash into the church bell waking the whole village. I was the first on the crash site with my family close behind. The crater was about the size of this room and the rock was jagged and grey. However I noticed a small blue light emitting through the cracks of the rocks. The Elder at the time asked me and the other blacksmiths to crack it open to see what was inside. When we did so, the blue light just shined right on my face. It was simply… mesmerising to look into."
"The Elder quickly took the orb with a cloth and locked it away in his home. Of course as the story goes we were all attacked by bandits. It is years later that I realised that the bandits were attacking because they were looking for any shards from the meteor for potential profit and not because of the orb. When they found an unguarded village, it is no surprise that they would have continued to raid it. Of course the villagers tasked me and my father with getting rid of the orb – and that is when it happened."
"When we were sailing across the ocean to toss it deep into the ocean I made the mistake of looking into the orb. When my father wasn't looking I reached down and touched the orb. I'm… not sure what came over me. Was it greed? A desire for power or profit? Either way, it happened and I felt a huge weight be pressed onto my back. I then immediately regretted my decision and threw the orb into the ocean, surprising my father."
I knew what came next in the story and felt very sympathetic towards the man in front of me. "But… fate had other ideas didn't it?" I muttered to Han.
"Yes." Han said softly. "I woke up the next day and found the orb in my pocket with me not ever remembering how it got there. I was afraid of what the other villagers and my family would think, so I just kept quiet. The attacks continued, and I kept trying to get rid of the orb; but to no avail. The Elder at the time ordered a collection of wizards to create the village inside the mountain for us to all hide in. Weeks after we entered, the guilt of my actions continued to weigh on me. I later let it all out to the Elder and he was furious at me for keeping it hidden from him and touching the orb. He banished me from the village for everyone to see. My family and my girlfriend wanted to come with me, but I refused. They were happy there, with me they would most surely face a life of danger." Master Han finished explaining his history to me.
"So that's how it happened… I'm sorry you had to go through with that." I said with sorrow. I could only imagine how such an event would feel for someone. I suppose it would be as bad as if Master Makarov brandished me as a traitor to Fairy Tail and expelled me from the guild.
"For years I wandered the country staying low and regretting my actions. As I said earlier, I found that I had stopped aging altogether. I concluded that by touching the orb I gained a Curse of Everlasting – a name I fashioned myself. Whoever touches the orb will gain the curse and it will become bound to them for as long as they live. Everyone I knew from the village at that time is now dead. My friends, my family, my girlfriend. I have never been able to love again, as by doing so I will experience the pain and suffering of watching them grow old and die."
"Wait a minute!" I said suddenly. "Can you… still be killed? Like you have eternal youth, but can you still die?"
Master Han shifted his feet awkwardly. "Yes. I have… considered suicide when I realised all those years ago that I would never age. I wanted to end myself to join my family on the other side. I found myself on a cliff top and was ready to end it all. But right before I was about to do it… I stopped and thought to myself."
"If I were to die here, then I wouldn't be freeing myself from my burden. I'd be running away from it. Instead of ending myself to end the suffering, I should be focusing on staying alive to make up for my mistake in the past. For that, I decided to live and learn." Master Han said with a firm resolve in his voice. "I lived that day. For them. My family."
"In a way I am glad that found myself on that cliff, as it was then I came to a startling conclusion. The curse will keep a man or a women living forever seemingly, if in the wrong hands this could prove to be quite fatal. Many lucky people have their magic containers grow and grow as they get older. If one has eternal youth… then what is the limit?"
I gasped in shock when Master Han said that. "Ah! Is that why you kept watch over the orb? To make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands?"
"Correct. If a wizard of evil intentions got their hands on the orb then they could have potentially lived forever. I believe making sure that the stone doesn't fall into the wrong hands is a way for me to make up for my mistake in the past." Master Han answered for me.
"But why are you here back in the village?" I questioned.
"I first came here 50 years ago. Before then I was constantly moving from location to location trying to remain discreet and unknown. While I hadn't been found out I was beginning to run out of places to hide away in. The number of towns and cities I could go to without being recognised was shrinking. It was then I remembered a potential place from my past where I could hide away at forever, with the orb kept safe away from those who'd use it for evil."
"It took a bit of convincing to let the Elder at the time let me into the village. Thankfully he did, and no one seemed to recognise me. I was still mentioned in stories as the boy who gave into greed and power from the orb, yet my name and facial features were erased from history. Perhaps that was due to my family years back? Whatever the case, I'm not sure. I set up as a man willing to train those who wished to learn magic in the village, and due to this I quickly gained the trust of the villagers."
"But your age! Even if the villagers didn't know that you had eternal youth, they should have still seen you aging." I commented with curiosity.
"I fashioned a quick lie when asked, saying that due to my high intelligence and power with metals I was able to use the small amount of metals in my body to make my skin look younger. Of course I can't actually do this, but it was able to convince the villagers. Eventually, the monastery was built and here we are right now." Master Han finished his story.
I took a few minutes to take all the information in and process it.
'Master Han has really been suffering these past two centuries. Not being able to love, losing his friends and family and being stuck in this mountain for the last 50 years must have been horrible for him. That's probably why he seems so different going outside of the village. It's a reminder of what he can't have.'
"Hey wait… when you left the village with me and Mato earlier did the orb appear in your pocket?" I quickly said upon realising that detail.
"It seems whenever the orb is far away from me, I have only a few hours until the orb decides to appear in my pocket. That is why I left so unexpectedly when we were outside, I didn't want to risk it being seen by you or Mato." Master Han answered.
"Ah right. Say, have you ever tried destroying the orb?" I suggested to him.
"You really think I didn't try to destroy the orb after 200 years of suffering?" Master Han said with a bit of annoyance. "I've tried everything young Cade. My own magic has not been powerful enough to destroy it, and I just can't risk showing it to someone else. I did try sealing it away in my Requip storage, but it reappeared soon after I put it there."
"Dammit… So there's really nothing that can be done to help you…" I said with a frown and a sigh.
"If there was a way to destroy the orb, I would have done so long ago. It appears this is my fate now." Master Han said that last sentence with distain.
We were both silent for a while until I spoke up.
"There's a high chance that the villagers will be moving out of the mountain next year due to that assasian Jones getting away. Will you be going with them?" I said hoping that Master Han didn't plan to spend the next few centuries in this rock.
"With a good cover behind me and a good reputation, I think I will be following these villagers wherever they go. Plus they could use a powerful wizard like me." Master Han said, easing away my worries.
"I see." I nodded in relief. Then a curious thought occurred to me. "Say… Why didn't you ever seek out the Magic Council for help?"
Master Han scoffed. "While I don't get out of this mountain much, I have heard that the Magic Council have always been known to be rather quick and rash to act whenever something important on their radar comes up. If I handed the orb to them I'm not sure what they would do with it. Also the general publics opinion on them leaves a bit to be concerned about."
"True…"
While I had never seen a Magic Council member, the things I had heard Master Makarov say about them, and the way he often ripped up any paper work they sent his way told me quite a bit about them.
"As for the Light Guilds, I simply didn't want to burden them with this monumental task. I felt it be best if I handled it alone. Not like anyone else can live for over a hundred years."
"What about the Royal Family in Crocus? I've heard good things about them. They must have a super secret secure vault for holding powerful magical things like that." I suggested.
"I did consider going to the Royal Family many times in the past. But to be safe I did a bit of underground digging on them and the royal place to see if they had a person or an item to break the curse. Had they had someone, I would have sought them out already." Replied Han.
"So there really was no one that could have helped you… Have you told anyone about this in the 200 years?"
Master Han was silent for a moment.
"Yes." He answered quietly. "It… is not a topic that I wish to discuss." He had an uncomfortable look as he shifted in his seat.
I chose to respect his privacy. "Right. I understand." I said with a nod.
Master gave me a small smile. "Thank you for listening young Cade. Oh and could you not mention this to anyone? I'd appreciate it."
"I'll keep it a secret." I assured the Master. "While I don't exactly have much experience in this area, I still think your benefit from at least telling Elder Lotho. You're both friends and I'm sure he'd help you out the best he could."
Han just gave a mutter to himself in response.
I then stood up from my seat. "I'll be heading back up now. By the way, where is the spray to remove stains for glass? We kind of… spilled some juice on the glass table in the lounge." I explained with an awkward expression.
"In the kitchen, under the sink. Pretty sure that's where it is in every household. Anyway, I hope you've had a good birthday today young Cade. Tomorrow we'll see if you can finish your strengthening of your sight." Master Han informed me with a nod. "Oh, and don't worry about me, I often come down here to think. I'll be back up shortly." He assured me.
With a smile at him, I made my way back upstairs and closed the hatch door behind me, knowing that it could be opened from the inside. I then headed into the kitchen and grabbed the cleaning spray for the glass table. When I made it back to the lounge I found the company of four in a deep conversation. They quickly stopped when I entered the room though.
"Sorry for the wait, but I found the spray!" I said as I held it up. "What were you all talking about?"
"Oh you know… girl stuff." Cornelia said with a smirk.
"While I would like to continue for today, it is getting a bit late and it is a bit of a walk to get back to my house. I am afraid I shall have to leave you today." Fea said with a frown. "But I did enjoy today!" She said with a smile afterwards.
"Sure! Maybe we can do this again before we all leave here. Sucks that this was all the game we brought with us. I can think of a few that you would have loved." I said to Fea as she stood up.
"Perhaps when you come back here – er, IF you come back here we can play some different ones."
That seemed like a good idea to me, though I may need to bring a bigger suitcase for that.
Fea then said goodbye to us all and left the room with her giving me one last look before she left. When she did leave the monastery, Lilly let out a yawn.
"Well she was right about how late it is. I'm struggling to stay awake. Had no idea we were playing for that long."
"Yeah I'm tired to. Feels like I done so much today, despite not actually doing that much." I said after, me too feeling quite exhausted after today. Perhaps the information about Master Han that I learned not long ago had just exhausted me.
"So have you had a good day today?" Mother asked me curiously.
"One of my best yet! The gifts were great, the food was great and I loved playing some games with you all!" I answered.
"Well it's about to get better!" Mother declared as the lights in the room suddenly turned out. Before I could ask what as going on, a saw a cake with candles on it being carried into the room by Fea!
"Surprise! I was just going to get the cake, I wasn't leaving yet!" Fea said with a kind laugh.
The cake was chocolate and had some nice decorative patterns on the top made out of icing. I counted 14 candles on the cake which was a nice addition to it.
"Happy birthday Cade!" The four of them cheered.
"You guys… Thanks so much!" I was struggling to hold back tears with all the kindness they had shown me today.
We then all cut up the cake and ate some slices of it. Chances are this was made by Master Han due to how delicious it was. Now that I think about it, 200 years must have meant that he had all the time in the world to perfect his cooking.
A lot of things were beginning to have a new meaning behind them as I thought about the old Master.
"Let's make sure to save some slices for Master Han." I grinned as we quickly fired through the slices of cake.
"Of course." My mother said with a mouthful of cake. Seems even she forgot table manners due to how nice the cake was. "He made it so he deserves a slice or two."
"I'll be sure to try and save some." Lilly said as she took another slice.
Thankfully, we were able to leave a few slices for Master Han despite how nice the cake was. Few then left the monastery (for real this time) and the rest of us headed upstairs after we finished cleaning the glass table.
I bid everyone good night and got into my bed and waited for sleep to overtake me. While I did wait however, I thought about Master Han and his long and everlasting life.
'To think that he is perhaps the oldest person on the continent.' I thought with a chill.
'If he had been a few seconds late when arriving to the basement where the orb was… I myself might have been cursed. What would I have done if that happened? Would I have left the guild to not burden others? Would I have watched all my friends and family die? The idea is… horrifying to consider.'
'I know that I promised not to tell anyone about him… but I can't just leave him without finding some sort of way to help him! Is there really nothing that can be done?!' I thought in frustration.
I continued to think about Master Han, the curse and the meteor before I fell asleep, my thoughts on the matter plaguing my dreams that night.
When the next day came I felt my stomach rumble in hunger. The fact that I ate so much yesterday and was still hungry was certainly strange to me. You'd think I'd have a black hole in my stomach somewhere but that is not the case.
Perhaps the reason why I am able to eat so much and still remain rather well shaped was because the fact that I was always either fighting on jobs or running from Rune Knights. They hadn't caught me yet whenever I've been on jobs. Here's hoping I could keep that up!
I headed downstairs and saw Master Han and Cornelia making some breakfast.
"Hey guys. How'd you all sleep last night?" I asked the both of them.
"Quiet well considering how late I stayed up last night. How about you Han?" Cornelia asked the Master.
Han gave her, and then me a calm and kind smile. "Oh, I slept quite well last night. It was a certain thing yesterday that helped me actually." He said as he glanced down at me with his eyes.
"What would that be?" Cornelia asked.
"The chocolate cake you all left for me! I appreciate you leaving me some." Master Han said as he let out a laugh, before he gave me a deep smile.
'I guess that conversation did seem to help him a little. Hopefully he'll learn that by opening up more, it will be easier for others to help him.' I felt a bit happy knowing that I helped the man.
After we all had breakfast, Master Han and I headed out of the monastery and outside to complete the training sessions to strengthen my sight. I noticed that Mato was not with us, so I presumed that Master Han had a sort of work around for most of the exercises.
When we got outside I found that Master Han was looking out as if he was in deep thought.
"You ok?" I asked the old man.
"I'm fine young Cade, just thinking about my past." He assured me.
As we walked through the trees to get to the clearing for the training I chose to speak up to the Master.
"Say, I was thinking when I woke up this morning. You know how you said that a fragment of the meteor broke off from the main rock and hit the village? What if there were more orbs in actual meteor?" I proposed.
"I have thought about that." Master Han responded. "I actually considered it when the orb was first discovered in the chunk that hit the village. The idea of the existence of more orbs is something that crossed my mind considering that was a small chunk of the actual meteor that hit our village."
"I actually chose to investigate this when I was travelling the country after my banishment. As it was years after the chunk fell, so there was little information. All I found out was that the main rock of the meteor crashed to the east of Ishigar. Couldn't find any information about orbs from the meteor or any split off chunks."
"Do you think that there was more than the one orb in the whole meteor?" I questioned.
"I have often found myself going between the two conclusions – that there are and aren't. If there was more, and they were as powerful and intense as the blue orb then why haven't they shown up yet? Of course, perhaps they just haven't been found yet. They could have all crashed into the ocean, or maybe they are buried in a mountain." Master Han shrugged at the prospect.
"During my frequent trips to the outside world, I have kept an eye and an ear out to see if anything about them comes up. Unfortunately I have heard nothing of the sort leaving me quite in the dark."
"I suppose the best place to go would be a museum. They normally have a history section for that sort of stuff." I suggested.
"I used to go a museum in Crocus for information from time to time. Unfortunately when I went there a year ago it seems to be closed due an incident that happened a few years back. Alas, I liked the café there." Master Han said with a sigh.
'Wonder if it was the same boarded up museum I passed in Crocus?' I speculated internally, as we continued to move through the trees.
"Have you ever been to Magnolia while you moved across the country?" I asked with interest, as we walked over a log.
"I've been three times." Master Han said. "The first time I went, I wasn't all that impressed with the place. There was some Dark Guild calling the shots around the place so I left not long after arriving. The next two times the town seemed a bit nicer. The sun was out in the sky for a change which helped brighten the place up. Also there was a Light Guild there now, through I'm sure you know all about that place." Han gave me a grin.
"Heh, you bet I do. Fairy Tail may not be number one in the guild rankings right now, but we still get tons of people wanting to see the guild. You ever go for a look around there?" I asked with my curiosity quite high regarding that.
"I didn't venture that close to the guild. I mainly stuck to exploring the town and what it had to offer. I'm afraid I didn't meet any wizards from Fairy Tail back then. Though I had no idea one of them would be coming to seek me out. I did hear that one of them came to our village when I was out one time and saved a bunch of the kids including Fea from some bandits. Shame I never got to meet them." Master Han said with a sigh.
"Alright I have another question for you: You've been alive for over 200 years so you must have seen one before… Have you ever met a dragon!?" I eagerly asked.
Such creatures were only ever told in stories that I had read as a child. Rumours had circulated from time to time about potential sightings of them across the country, but they were mostly hot air and nothing else.
When I was younger I had always wanted to meet one and learn the exciting and rumoured Dragon Slaying Magic, which was supposedly strong enough to kill a dragon! As I got older though and joined Fairy Tale, I realised that there was a high chance that they would probably just eat me for dinner.
"What an interesting question." Master Han gave me an amused look as he glanced down at me. "Yes I did meet one in the past." He replied. "Though I never-"
"NO WAY!" I shouted with excitement.
"What was its name!? What magic did it use?! Did you fight it?! Did you kill it? Where was it!? Is it still alive!? Did it teach Dragon Slayer Magic to you!? When was this!?" I spluttered out of my mouth at rapid pace.
"Hey, hey! Calm down! You'd think you would have won a million jewels with that expression you're making right now." Master Han said, as he seemed to be taken aback by all my questions.
"To answer those questions – at least the ones I know, we met decades ago and she tried to kill me. We fought and I was able to hold my own against her for a few minutes, whether she was holding back or not I do not know, but I was using my full power. She would stop the fight and acknowledge my power, before she gave me her name and flew off."
"So cool!" I cried with awe. "What was her name?"
Master Han shifted a bit as I asked that. "Well that's… That's a… it's a question that I'd rather not answer." He answered with a grimace. "I never saw her again after that, and I certainly did not try to seek her out." Han said with a shudder at the idea.
"Ah… Sorry, didn't know that it was such a sensitive thing with you." I apologised with a frown. "But still! To think you fought a dragon and lived…!" I wowed in amazement.
'Master Han is something else! If he was on the Magic Councils radar I have no doubt he'd be ranked highly as a Wizard Saint!'
By now we were approaching the edge of the forest, and I could see the countryside through the trees. A few birds sang in the trees as we walked.
"Alright, final question before we get out of here: What's the strangest thing that's happened to you since you've been alive for 200 years?" I questioned.
"The strangest thing…?" Master Han gave me a weirded look, as if he didn't understand the point of the question.
"Well you must have met so many people, been in so many strange situations… So what's the one thing that you found the most strange and interesting." I followed up, hoping he would answer.
Master Han seemed to think about it for a moment, him pondering all the strange individuals he had met.
"Well… There was one person that I found… weird, and not in a funny way." Master Han answered, him looking surprisingly serious. We both stopped walking and we turned round to face each other.
"Oh… well go on. What was he like?" I wondered, now quite curious about the person he met.
"It was a few decades ago I met the man. I was walking through a ravine to get to a town not too far away when I decided to stop for a break. I sat down a nearby rock and that's when he came from the way I was going." Master Han started.
"Despite it being decades ago I can still remember his appearance quite clearly." Han said as if he was somehow bothered by the detail.
"He was a young man and he had black hair as well as black eyes with abnormally sharp canines. He wore a high black collar and tan robes with gold trim, along with a large, flowing white toga draped around his torso. He also wore a pendant which he didn't show me. He gave off a calm and yet mysterious aura which I struggled to figure out."
Strangely enough, all the wildlife in the forest stoped talking when Han said that. This created an eerie silence which was a little uncomfortable.
"He did not even pay me any attention when he was walking by me, I myself only took notice of his attire. However as he was about to finish walking by me, he glanced in my direction for a quick second, perhaps just to see who I was. However, this quick glance turned into a curious and long start at me. It was as if… he was looking into my soul." Master Han explained in an uncomfortable voice.
"I then spoke up to him about that, and I can still remember the exact words of our conversation that time."
No POV, Han Veers:
Dozens Of Years Ago:
"Is there a problem young man?" Han spoke up in a confused voice to the young dark haired man.
"There is no problem. Just something about you caught my eye when I glanced at you." The innocent dark haired man responded.
"And what is that?" Han said quite curious, as he stood up from where he was sitting.
The man quickly held out a hand to stop him from coming closer, as he himself took a few steps back.
"Ah, please. It is best you don't get so close to me." The man advised, a bit nervous all of a sudden.
Han stopped and did not get closer to the man. "Are you sick?" Han questioned with a bit of concern.
"…Of a sort." The man replied after a moment of hearing that. "As for what I find strange about you; I am a traveler you see. I have met so many people in my life and you seem to stand out among many of them." The dark haired man said with interest.
Han now looked a bit confused and also a little nervous, as he carefully held his hand over his right pocket.
"Stand out how?" Han asked casually, him ready in case things got dangerous all of a sudden.
"Why your magic power of course. It is incredibly powerful not to notice when walking by you. I know that you are not a Wizard Saint, so it is rare to find an individual in this country that is as strong and not ranked as one." The man said with interest.
"Ah, right. I should probably focus on suppressing that. Trying to remain a bit discreet you see." Han stated as he looked around to see if anyone else was here.
The dark haired man smiled at that. "Aren't we the same?"
"Hm? You as well?" Han responded with surprise.
"I'd like to remain a bit hidden until I reach my destination." The man answered. "In fact, this conversation with you might be the last one I have for some time now."
"Where are you going?" Han asked with curiosity.
"Nowhere important." The man quickly waved that question aside. "But tell me. What is your name?"
"…"
"Han. Han Veers." Han answered for the man.
"I shall remember that name. I hope to see you again, Han Veers." The dark haired man waved as he resumed his walk past Han.
"Wait! One cannot say his name without the other returning the gesture. Who are you?" Han quickly spoke up.
The man turned his head a little to the left, acknowledging that he at least heard the question. He looked like he would have answered, but he then chose not to and continued to walk away.
Cade POV:
"I never saw him again. I chose not to pursue him due to that rather peculiar aura he had around him." Master Han finished telling his story.
"Wow… That guy sounds… mysterious all right. Why on earth did he want your name?" I wondered with confusion.
"I don't have a clue." Master Han spoke. "However one thing I also have not forgotten from that encounter was the aura the man possessed. It seemed to almost directly contradict his personality and appearance. He looked harmless, but that aura of his radiated ill intent." Master Han said as he shuddered upon recollecting that detail.
"It was a few days after that encounter I was walking down a path. It was then I sensed it. His aura."
"Wait, you sensed him!?" I said suddenly.
"Yes. When I felt the presence I immediately stopped in my tracks. I could feel it behind me, slowly coming my way. For some reason it felt much more sinister and uncomfortable than before. I quickly summoned a pair of binoculars to see through and I looked behind me far in the distance. I saw that the man was indeed walking my way."
"But what scared me the most was that then man looked up to where I was. His eyes meeting mine through the binoculars."
"What!? He knew that you were watching him!?" I exclaimed.
"I doubt that was just coincidence. Upon seeing that, I quickly hurried away from him. I've never felt the aura again ever since. There are times that I leave the village in which I do feel a sense that I'm being followed. Is it him? I am not sure, but I am always careful and able to remain unseen."
"That guy sounded like real bad news. You probably made the right move to dodge him." I said, as we resumed our walk out of the forest.
"Mmm. Sometime I wonder what the man wanted with me. Did he perhaps know more about me than he let on? Or did he just want to learn more about me? Perhaps I will never know, and that will certainly not bother me." Master Han concluded as we finished our walk out of the forest to hopefully finish my training to strengthen my sight.
That is that chapter done and finished! Do leave a review if you liked it.
I believe it is this year that 100 Year Quest will be animated and released. Will you all be watching it?
Master Han has chosen to reveal the truth to Cade about his past, in which he fought a dragon and met a rather mysterious man. Considering that he was alive for more than 200 years, it's natural that he would cross paths with him.
With all the questions and mysteries about Lavender Village answered, all that is left is for Cade to enter the Etherial State. But will he be successful in doing so? In the next chapter we will see Cade attempt to enter the Etherial State. Stay tuned for that!
Anyway I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and I shall see you in the next one!
