I woke up to see myself still on the couch.

Wait, what happened?

I groaned as I had a pounding headache. I felt a cloth put on my head.

I got up and was shocked to find Emily asleep on the opposing couch.

"Oh my god…" I whispered trying not to wake her up. I rose to my feet and headed to the kitchen.

I rubbed my forehead trying to recall what happened.

Why was Emily here? Not that I mind. But what the hell happened? Why am I home?

What's the time anyways?

8:00! What!?

"Dani?" I heard Emily. Oh no, did I wake her?

"I'm sorry, Em. Did I wake you?"

"No, no. how are you feeling?" she asked, quickly pulling her bag for whatever.

"Um I dunno I feel tired and I have this headache. Em, what happened?" I asked still rubbing my forehead.

"What? Don't you remember?" she asked her eyebrows knitting together.

"No? did something bad happen?" I asked trying to lower my pitch, did something go wrong?

"Dani, you fainted yesterday… you had a really high fever. Paul had to pick you up from school. And you didn't wake up after you fell asleep" I sank to the seat and covered my mouth. The memories flashed through my mind.

"Oh my god, I caused you guys so much trouble! I'm sorry, I'm sorry" I apologized. Paul might have had work and Em has to be with Sam! And here she is, babysitting me! Guilt flooded through me

"Don't be ridiculous Daniella! We were worried for you, why are you sorry?" she said placing a warm hand on my shoulder.

I didn't know what I was thinking but I just wrapped her in a warm hug. She rubbed my back. Em was like a mother to me too… it's funny really, I had met so many people in my life, but ever since I moved to folks, I never felt more… connected…

"Let's get you something to eat." She said letting go. "Oh, and the guys and I took you to the hospital yesterday…" she said. My eyes widen.

"Y-you did? What did they say?"

"They couldn't find out what happened to you… but they ran multiple tests on you, from cancer to blood pressure… you will get your results tomorrow though."

…

I didn't know what to say… was this some sort of witch disease?

"Oh sure… I'll go get it tomorrow, and um where's Paul?" I asked realizing he was with me throughout the whole ordeal but was missing now.

"He had to pa- I mean he has his shift now in work…"

"Shift? Doesn't he go to school?" I asked in confusion.

"Er yeah, but he has to earn a few bucks extra these days…" that's… suspicious…

"Um ok… when do you think he will be back? I have to thank him…" I asked still feeling guilty. He had to stop whatever he was doing for me and I felt so bad… it didn't occur to me that he did… he barely knew me but yet… he came, which caused a warm feeling to spread through my heart. Again, I was reminded of how I just… fitted in with everyone, how I just came out of the blue but still managed to find out that this was a missing piece I never knew needed.

"He would probably be back by maybe 1? I'm not really sure…" she answered. I smiled at her. She must be tired.

"Em did you sleep on the couch?" I asked worry again lacing my voice.

"Yup since you refused to get up from the couch and I had to keep an eye on you"

"Oh my god, did you even get any sleep? Please go upstairs, ill get you some blankets and sleep in the guest room!" I said again trying to lower my high pitch. Oh my god, I'm such a bad host, I made the guest look after me!

"OK FINE but only if you stop sulking over the fact that I looked after you, don't think I don't notice Daniella" I gulped slowly at how scary she sounded using my first name. she walked over to me and gently placed her hand on my head

"Let someone look after you once in a while Dani, especially when you need it," she said with a soft smile.

"Come on, now you head to bed too and get some rest…" she said getting up, she stopped near the staircase and turned to me

"By the way, I get why you didn't want to leave the couch, it really is comfortable," she said with a chuckle and went upstairs. My mind just… I just felt grateful

"Thank you, whoever's out there… thank you" I whispered finally following her
