It was now beginning to be morning and all though the house was mostly quiet, though the halls we could see pictures of a boy and his mom standing together for a family photo.
As the scene pans over to some more photos, with one being of a boy playing with a fox-like creature but then sudden a black figure came into view, the black figure was on the hunt having red eyes that glow in the dark hallway as it walk down the hall to a door that was opened a bit.
Inside the room there was an young man sleeping aware of a creature that just now entered into his room stalking him like prey as it got closer and closer to the man it stop stare at the man.
The man had brown hair looking be in his twentys and he was wearing a button down shirt with gray pants, the creature now knowing its 'prey' was still asleep, the creature then pounced on him... {Boo!} The creature jump on the man scaring him making him scream.
"What the heck, Serena do you really have to do that" the man said in not so interested voice and still recovering from the scare he just had.
The creature smiled evil grin as the sun started to shine into the room showing the creature to be a female Delphox.
{Sorry, Humphrey but I wanted to wake up early today, did you forget that you was going take me to that restaurant}
"I know, and dont you worry, I'm just tired from working all night" The man said before faceplanting in his pillow again.
{That mean job, can you just quit it already?} She asked.
Humphrey raise his head again "Serena, you know I can't do that, if I did we won't have the stuff we have today"
{Still I don't like you having to overwork yourself too much, can you promise me not to overwork yourself} Serena said in a pleading voice
Humphrey looked at his pokemon for a moment with her starring at him, giving him the puppy eyes.
Humphrey sighed in defeat "Fine, I promise" which made the Pokemon smile {Thank you}
"Alright, are we going go to that restaurant you want so badly or we just going stay here all day."
The Delphox instantly got up from the man and head towards the door "Alright, now we are talking I go get ready,} Serena looked at the man still laying in bed {You better get ready too and you better not go back to sleep} She said in a commanding tone pointing at him as she open and exit out Humphrey's room shutting the door.
Humphrey now wide awake and he know there no point in fighting with her so he got up from his bed.
He marched to his closet and found a set clothes to wear a normal black T-shirt and some jeans as soon he was done changing he exit his room at the same time as Serena was, they both stood there for a second starring at each other.
Humphrey notice that she had cone her fur down with the only place sticking out was her little tuff of fur on the top of her head between her huge ears, she also had her tail coned as well as it swiss side to side, Serena had her paws behind her, looking at the ground.
{So... How do I look,} she asked shyly.
Humphrey smiled at her cheekly, "you ain't going on a date or anything"
{I know but I wanted to look good just for the occasion,}
Humphrey wanted to tease her a bit "Or you just want to tease all the male pokemon in town" Humphrey said in a teasing manner but as soon he said that, he could feel the air heat up around him knowing the source he looked at the Delphox, she looked furious at him.
"Chill it was joke" The man said putting his hands up.
{You know thats not a good joke, I thought I told you this million of times am not looking for a mate right now}
"I know, I know, lets just say it was a bad joke, okay" Humphrey said not wanted to get into it with her.
{You should know my top priority right now is to watch you} She added while following him.
Humphrey rolled his eyes, "You sound like my mom"
{Well someone has to keep a eye on you}
The two reach the front door as the man opened the door for the Delphox letting her out first.
Humphrey chuckled "I never knew I would have pokemon bodyguard at this age"
{More like guardian angel} Serena replied back to Humphrey only to received a snort.
"Yeah, whatever you say"
Humphrey and Serena walked towards a blue truck, Humphrey open the passenger door to let Serena in and then shutting it then getting in himself, he looked over to a excited Delphox as her tail was wagged {I can't believe I am finally going to the Dine n' Pokemon, I heard they had Poke Puffs... Oooo you think have the spicy and sweets ones?}
"You and your addiction to Poke Puffs"
{I don't have a addiction to Poke Puff
"You say that but you forgot that one time I got you two boxes worth of them, I only suspect you to eat one per day not both boxes in a one day, you then had a bad stomach ache for almost a week" Humphrey reminded her
{I just didn't want them go to waste thats all} The Delphox huffed and looked away with arm crossed.
With a long sigh, Humphrey turn the truck on and back up out the driveway into road and drove into the road, it was still early in the morning and few cars were driving around doing the morning activities.
Humphrey always like this neighborhood since all the people was nice and it was always peaceful.
Going pass some the houses, he could see number of people getting the mail or taking there Eevees or a Rockruff out to do there morning business.
He glanced to see Serena waving at some the people and pokemon which all of them waved back.
He smiled seeing Serena happy always brought him in a good mood aswell when its from coming back from hard day from work or just feeling a little down, Serena has always been there to keep him company when he needs it.
As Humphrey drove the nieghorhood they was now in town, as everything was quite busy even this early, He drove down the street passing by businesses as they getting ready to open.
{There it is!} Serena yelled in excitement pointing at one building making Humphrey look too.
The building had a red roof with a giant sign 'Dine n' Pokemon' with the white walls making it look like a pokeball almost with a brunch of vehicles sitting in the parking lot.
{There it is,} Serena was bouncing in seat with excitement.
"Sorry we got to do some errands first" Humphrey spoke up making the Delphox stop.
{Wha... But you said we was going-} the Delphox started to pount.
Humphrey only drove pass by the restaurant and then gave Serena a side eye smile.
{You IDIOT...stop teasing me} Serena yelled annoyed.
"Alright, Don't make me run into someone right now," Humphrey pull into a nearby gas station to turn around and went into the parking lot.
After a minute searching where to park, they finally found a spot and park the truck.
As the exit the truck the smell of food hit their noses, they started walking up to the restaurant they could tell the place was pack, Humphrey was actually nervous about not finding for place to seat.
Humphrey then saw Serena ran pass and was already up to the doors waiting for him.
{Come on, Lets get a sit before its too late}
"I'm coming, I'm coming"
Humphrey met her and they went inside restaurant, inside the restaurant was abrunch people and pokemon seating talking or eating with each other, Humphrey then saw a clear table by a window on the other side of the restaurant telling Serena to follow her which she did and finally sat in the table across from each other.
Unknown to the both of them a couple of Pokemon stop to stare at the Delphox {Man, what a cutie} said a Charmelon.
{Yeah but I think she way out your league though man} a Eevee repiled also starring at the Delphox talking with the human.
{Maybe you right, beside look her when she talks to the human, I bet there something going on with them}
{You think?}
Back with the two they were talking about what would they what to eat.
"Steak and potatoes sounds good but I don't know if it still early, what you want?"
{I don't know I can't decide its all good to me} Serena answered as she scan the menu.
"How about the psychic salad with sliced Tamato Berries in it" he suggested making the fox pokemon's ears perked up.
{That sound good,}
"Is that what you want?"
{Yeah you picked it for me}
"Are you sure?" he asked the Delphox and she nodded.
"okay... Don't hate me if you dont like it." Humphrey said looking back at his memu.
{How about I get something since you got me something}
Humphrey rised his head "I'm scare now, you picking out what am going eat?"
{What its only right}
"yeah but you might make me try something crazy"
{What no how about I get you something like...} she paused for min looking at the menu.
{Loaded Potato Soup}
"hmm, simple I like it" he commented making the pokemon giggle.
As they were done decided on, a waitress came running towards them "I am super sorry about the wait, we are super busy"
"Its alright, we actually just got done deciding what we want" Humphrey replied making the waitress smile.
"Alright thats great, what can I get you two"
After Humphrey told the waitress there order she wroted it down on her notepad and took the menus and ran off.
{She seems nice} Serena said when she left making Humphrey look at her.
"what made you say that"
{Oh nothing, I just throught you might find her cute is all} Serena replied looking away.
Humphrey raised a eyebrow at her making her laugh a little.
{Am joking with you}
"Ah, you trying get back at me from this morning ain't you"
{Wha.. I wouldn't do that} Serena said with a smile smirk.
"Sure" Humphrey rolled his eyes at her receiving a small giggle from the fox pokemon
Soon after there food came the same waitress brought it and set it down on the table and then giving out to each of them with glasses of water.
"There we are, I hope you enjoy you meal" Waitress said before smiling at Humphrey and then leaving the two.
Serena cheekly smile at Humphrey before giving a scoff making the Serena laugh, Humphrey looked at his dish with steam coming off it, (it looked so good) he thought.
Serena looked at her dish, it had purple lettuce with slices of carrot with tamato berries it looked good and since tamato berries are her favorite she might like it, she smiled and took a bite of the salad, the lettuce was surprisely good and tamato berries actually give it a spicy taste which she enjoyed very well.
"ooh, Thats good" Humphrey commented.
As they eat their meals they would occasionally talk about funny stories mostly about Humphrey work while Serena lisitened every second.
"You should of seen Jerry's face when he was giving all that paperwork" Humphrey and Serena laughed together.
{It serves him right, putting all that work all on you just to be return back to him}
"yep"
As a odd silence fell between the two, they sit there for while starring each other till Serena broke the silence {I had fun,} Humphrey smiled "I'm glad you are since you the one who suggested on going her"
{Not completely what I meant} Serena added looking away bit flustered.
{I had fun spending time with you mostly all day} Humphrey only smiled was about muttered something before his cell phone ringed making some the people and pokemon look at him with annoyance.
Humphrey dig up his phone and nervously laugh and quickly accept the call without reading the contact.
"Hello?" Humphrey answered.
On the other end a old man voice sounding very unhappy yelled back.
"Humphrey, where are right now?"
"Running a errand" he lied glancing at Serena.
"well can it wait, I'm about to get a huge Invest report paper soon and I want you do for me and review it"
"what why?" he asked.
"Its because I have three meetings today and you the only secretary thats not sick or busy" he answered casually in a loud noise.
Humphrey only look at his Delphox which looked back at him with concerned. With a long drawn out sigh "Fine, I be home within ten minutes or so"
"Splendid! I suspect it tomorrow morning"
"tomorrow morning!? Can't I get more time aleast" Humphrey pleaded with his boss.
"Nope, No can do, Humphrey I better see that report. By. Tomorrow. Morning." He commanded.
Humphrey pinched his nose "Alright" Humphrey accepted.
"Good, I be seeing you" the boss said before hanging up.
Humphrey laid his head on the table while moaned very annoyed right now.
Serena only looked at Humphrey with more concerned and wanted to ask what wrong
{Is everything alright} She asked softly.
"Its my boss, he wants me to do another report with a crazy due day again"
{So we have to go home} Serena said sadly.
Hearing her, he sighed "Yes sadly,"
{Oh}
Humphrey looked up to see his pokemon friend unhappy with her ears down, "Its okay, we be back, next time hopefully I won't be as busy like this time"
Serena ears then perked up {You mean it?}
Humphrey laugh at her reaction "well yeah,"
{You promise we will, right?}
"I promise, now I got to pay the bill and who knows I might get something special"
Excitement grew again inside the Delphox making her tail wagged fast.
Humphrey left to pay leaving Serena alone, he headed to a cashier and gave her the money for the bill and then ask something to the cashier making her nod and left for a while before coming back and giving him a box (hope she likes these) he throught before thanking the cashier and leaving to meet up with Serena.
"I'm back" Humphrey said making the Delphox break from her throughts {What is that?} she asked pointing at the box.
"Its a surpise, you got to wait till we get home to open it" Humphrey explained with a huge smile.
{Aw, really you know I hate surprises and waiting} Serena pounted.
Humphrey laughed "well we better get home then"
Serena got up and follow him out the restaurant.
"Bye, Hope you come back to see us next time" one the waitress said before the two left the building.
"We will!" Humphrey yelled back.
Humphrey and Serena got into the truck, Humphrey turned on the truck and drove out the parking, all the way Humphrey could see Serena starring at the box she really wanted to know what was inside the box.
"You know I was kidding about waiting till we get home" Humphrey spoke up making the fox pokemon look at him.
{Really} she asked which made Humphrey nodded with a grin.
Serena opened the box eagerly to see the box was full of sweet and spicy Poke Puffs, {Humphrey you shouldn't have!}
"Hope you like it, I wanted something apologize about all this" Humphrey said.
{You didn't have to,}
Humphrey chuckled "just dont eat them in one sitting."
Serena rolled her eyes and then took one the sweet puffs as she took a bite, the puff tasted so good to her.
As they finally got home, Humphrey and Serena got out the truck and went inside the house, Humphrey sighed know he had to get to work to do, he turn to his Delphox.
"Well, am going to go get started on the report, wish me luck, if you ever get hungry get something out the fridge.
{The puffs should do until then, don't worry about me just get that report done} Serena said not wanting the human waste anymore time on her.
"Alright then, see ya in the morning" Humphrey and Serena went to their separate rooms, Humphrey went into his room and seat at his desk by his bed.
His desk had mostly a have a computer were he mostly do all his work for his job, he mostly works at home the only time he goes into work is if theres a meeting.
Getting on his computer and opening some of the documents that his boss send him it was time to get this over with.
Some time had pass as Humphrey was working nonstop on the report he took longer than he had thought, he looked at his clock by his bed it was now nine-thirty at night which made the guy sigh, he felt bad for spoiling the fun that him and Serena was having but he knew Serena understands that his work came first but that still wasn't making him feel any better.
"I need to apologize to her" he said before putting his head down on his desk for awhile closing his eyes.
Humphrey couldn't help but to think about Serena hoping she not mad at him or something.
It gotten so bad that Humphrey got up from his chair, he going to apologize to her fully, as Humphrey exit out his room and walk down the hallway to Serena's room.
Gently opening the door he look in the dark room he could see from the light from the hallway that she was asleep.
Humphrey slowly went inside her room no wanted to wake her, the soft snores coming from pokemon made him smile a bit, what is he thinking Serena would never be made at him ever.
Humphrey was about to leave till he heard his name called out, "Humphrey what you doing in here?" Humphrey turned around seeing the pokemon now awake rubbing her eyes.
"Sorry Serena, just wanted to check on you I going leave you alone, just go back to sleep" Humphrey apologized before shutting the door.
{Humphrey, Wait} Serena called out to him making him pause.
"Yes?"
{Can you... sit with me?} She asked shly.
Humphrey looked at her blankly for a bit "eh, Sure?"
Humphrey enter her room yet again, Humphrey sit on her bed with Serena joining him sitting right next to him.
As silence grew between them, Humphrey then wanted to breaking the silence.
"Sooo... You had fun today," he simply asked which receive a nod from the fox pokemon.
"Thats good, Really good" he said then more awkwardly silence then Serena broke it this time.
{Humphrey...} Serena looked to seem she was having a bad time finding her words as she looked down not wanting to look at Humphrey.
Humphrey was thinking what is she going tell him, does she want to leave, she want to be with someone else, Humphrey was having almost a panic attack.
{*sigh* Humphrey... I been...thinking}
(oh shit, here it comes 'Humphrey I'm leaving')
{canyoubemymate} she said in one breath she was blushing hard with her ears down and eyes shut.
"...eh" Humphrey was now dumbfounded, (what did she say?)
"what did you say again" Humphrey looked with a dumb look making the Delphox to look at the human.
{Humphrey I been with you for a long time, you took care of me since I was a fennekin, you was always there when I needed you,} Serena then look away from the human gazed {I don't what I would do without you}
"Serena" Humphrey just said looking at the blushing Delphox.
Serena then look Humphrey as he can now can see her blushing madly now, Serena then got closer to Humphrey as she got closer Humphrey's heart was racing millions beats per second not only his Serena's as well.
Serena put a paw on Humphrey's chest and push him gently on her bed, Humphrey didn't realize for second before he was now laying on the bed with the Delphox on top of him.
Humphrey could only stare into Serena for second asking her, "Serena, what you doing" Serena didn't say anything for minute it was like she was asking the same thing to her self.
{I want to show you how much I care for you} Serena said to the man now making him blush now.
Humphrey then wrap his arms around the Delphox waist, getting her closer to his face she was little surprised by the action but smiled at him.
"I care for you for too, Serena" He said.
{I love you, Humphrey}
"I love you too"
Serena then came closer to Humphrey slowly, Humphrey bracing himself for a kiss but Serena went by Humphrey cheek and whisper in Humphrey's ear {You better get up Humphrey and do that report!}
"What" Humphrey said confused then everything swifted to his office at work looking behind him, he saw his boss looking at him with the casual disappointed look, "Humphrey, I told you get the report done but no you was too busy loving on your Delphox friend, its her or your job" His Boss looked him with a evil smile.
"You can't make me choose over her or work, its always going be her million times over" Humphrey got up from his office chair to stared down his boss.
His boss smile turn into a wicked grin as he started to grow larger and larger, Humphrey step back as he looked at his boss he was a now a monster starring down Humphrey like he was food.
"I guess I have to just get rid of you then, Humphrey" The monster grab Humphrey as he tried to struggke out his strong grip but couldn't.
The Monster then lift Humphrey over his head as he open his maw full of teeth he yelled out "no..nonono noooo!" Humphrey was dropped into the monster mouth and monster closed his mouth.
boom* Humphrey hit the floor as he woke up from his weird nightmare, Humphrey sat up from the floor checking his surroundings knowing he was in his home office.
"Was that all a dream," Humphrey asked himself trying to remember where did he went to sleep.
"I guess, I slept a little bit" Humphrey got up on the floor and looked at the time but saw it was almost morning, being close to the deadline he started to panic and went on his computer and saw he was half being done not only that he made a error in the data, panic full force set in as he hurry and started to work again trying to redo the error and try get some of report done, almost being done with it he looked at the time, he saw it was now six thrity four, he not going make it.
"I need to get this done before-" Humphrey retorted before he heard his phone started to ring he was going annoyed till it said 'Boss' on it.
Knowing he would get in trouble if he pick it or not he would get in trouble even more if he didn't get this done.
Humphrey slowly pick up his phone and then he accept the call and he could hear his boss yelling at him "HUMPHREY, I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU I WANTED THE REPORT BY TOMORROW"
"I am, just give me more time, I'm almost done" Humphrey begged thought the phone.
"NO, I NEEDED THAT REPORT FOR A MEETING AND I YOU DIDN'T MADE THE DEADLINE" His boss yelled in his ear making Humphrey move away.
"Just give me another hour" Humphrey begged again.
"NO I TIRED OF YOUR FUCKING EXCUSES, YOU ALWAYS DO THIS AND THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW YOU FIRED" Humphrey was too shock to reply back as his boss hang-up on him, he was fired he couldn't believe it, his body went limp as his now ex boss words echo though his head.
Humphrey layed his head on his desk as he did that his door opened, {Oh you awake already}
Humphrey got up and looked at the early bird Delphox, Humphrey was quiet not knowing how she would react, {You got the report done?}
"nope" Humphrey just said quietly.
{You get in trouble?}
Humphrey went silence alerting the Delphox, {You okay, Humphrey}
Humphrey stay silence while looking down, {HUMPHREY, TALK TO ME} Serena yelled at him making Humphrey speak finally.
"I GOT FIRED"
Silence filled the room for a bit till Serena snorted broke it {Come on Humphrey, stop kidding with me that ain't funny} Serena laughed.
"I'M NOT FUCKING KIDDING, ITS ALWAYS A JOKE WITH YOU, SERENA" Humphrey snapped at her, scaring Serena.
Humphrey realized what he done and with long sigh trying relax the situation, "How about you go and wait for me in the living room ok, I get up soon to serve breakfast I just need time alone to figure out what to do nos"
Serena not wanting make things worst she only nodded and left the room with Humphrey alone now when she shut the door, Humphrey grabbed his head and put his head on his desk.
(Great fucking job! Humphrey not only you had a unrealistic dream that would probably never within millions of years, getting fired from your job, and to top it all off you got mad at her, way to go way to go just brilliant!) Humphrey scolded himself.
Humphrey wanted to scream his head off but didn't want Serena to hear him, he got up from his chair and sat on his bed thinking what is he going do now.
Thirty minutes went by as it was now seven Humphrey sighed knowing it won't change anything just sitting he got up from his bed and walk out.
Humphrey rubbed his head as he walk in the living room he saw Serena sitting alone as she looked at him it look like she was crying.
"Hey, what with the tears" he asked softly.
Serena wiped her eyes quickly {I wasn't crying}
Humphrey looked at her knowing she was lying he felt bad for yelling at her "How about I make your favorite Oran Berry pancakes." he offered trying making her feel somewhat better.
sniff* {Okay...}
Humphrey went to the kitchen with Serena slowly following him, Humphrey got out the stuff to make the pancakes he mixing the pancakes putting on the skillet, they didn't take to long for them get done, he serve it to Serena.
"I forgot, one more" Humphrey went in the fridge and got out the syrup and pour over her pancakes.
{Thank you} giving him a small smile then she saw he didn't make any for himself {You not making any for you?}
"No, I have to go out I don't know when I be though" his response made her sad a bit.
{Okay just be careful} she said with sad tone.
"Don't worry I will, just wish me luck well I be going okay"
{Okay... Be careful please} making the young man smile he nodded heading towards the door.
He got into his truck and sighed and lay his head on the stirring wheel.
"I really screwed up this time"
