"Cersei what are you—" Jon asked before Cersei decided to kiss him.
To say that he was surprised would be an understatement, but…How did this happen? Well, to answer that question, we need to get back in time.
"I can't believe I'm doing this," a tall man with long dark hair and a dark beard said as he walked across the frozen steppe in the northern side of Westeros, but he was not alone, the man was carrying on his back the body of a long-haired blonde woman who little by little was opening her eyes.
"Am I dead…?" She suddenly asked as she saw the man carrying her.
He didn't say anything, as he was clearly focusing on walking through the snow, even if the enemy was gone, that didn't mean the terrain was going to have mercy on him, one small mistake was all it takes to end his life and life of the person he was carrying.
"No…As far as I know, everyone is dead…Except for both of us Cersei, of course," the man said with a serious tone before he stopped. "Well, it seems like we finally arrived," the man said as he stared in front of him at the ruins of the place where he grew up and where he thought happiness was going to last forever even though the lady of the castle hated him.
It was strange, he even missed the evil woman who was also a victim of his father's honor, she thought Jon was her husband's bastard son, and she couldn't be more wrong even if she wanted to.
"Oh…You're the bastard from Winterfell, right?" Asked the blonde woman not showing any emotions but Jon just smiled weakly at her.
"I was…That's who I always thought I was," confessed the man before he placed the woman on the ground so she could get back to her feet.
"Oh right…Your aunt told me something…You're Rhaegar's second wife's son, right? Jon Targaryen…What a strange name," the woman said as she moved around trying to heat her body with some movement even though the last thing she wanted now was to be alive.
It was still strange to him, he was Jon Targaryen, not Jon Snow anymore, he was the only left descendant of the Targaryen dynasty and he was technically the heir of the Iron Throne, he was the true king of Westeros and so many other titles…Or he would've been that person in a very different situation.
When northerners were saying that winter was coming it wasn't just about the season, it was about something worse, a monster, the representation of everything that humans fear, a monster that seemed impossible to defeat and that pushed everyone to the south.
But human's will to live is stronger in situations like this, the only thing left was death anyway, so, people sacrificed their lives to push the threat back to where it belonged and the thing was merciless because it froze everything it touched and that includes crops and lives, luckily, Jon destroyed that thing without thinking twice, that's what he was supposed to do, after all, as far as he's concerned, everyone else is either dead or hiding from the danger.
At the end of the day, it didn't matter what people did, if they didn't fight against the thing, they were going to die due to starvation anyway, death was the only thing that awaited everyone, that's why winter is so feared, but lately, the weather is getting warmer and seeing the sunlight throughout many the white clouds that cover this place, Jon feels a little hopeful that spring is already coming.
It took everyone's sacrifice just for Jon and Cersei to be the only left people, so, how did she end up here? Well, everyone was on the battlefield, even Cersei was there that's how bad the situation was, however, instead of being killed she was kidnapped by the night king, Jon had no idea what he was planning to do with her but he froze her and carried her around like he was bragging about it, after all, the night king didn't fear anyone.
That's why Jon and Cersei are the only alive people in Westeros right now as far as Jon knows, it doesn't matter where you go it's not a rare thing to find frozen corpses, and life is so ironic, someone who was supposed to die in the wall and one of the most despicable rulers in centuries of the seven kingdoms, these are the last two survivors.
"So what are we going to do now? You said everyone's dead, right?" Asked Cersei feeling a little worried because she saw the man polishing a stick to make it pointy and dangerous.
But her worries disappeared the moment the man moved towards a small river and soon, he pierced into the water and somehow, he managed to get a couple of fish, her eyes widened the moment he started to eat one of the fish completely raw.
"Don't worry, it's safe to eat them like this," Jon said before he handed her the other fish.
The woman was shocked to see him acting like an animal, he was acting so primal as if he was returning to a beast-like state, his eyes were looking at the food with such an intense glare and Cersei could only gulp but then, her stomach started making sounds and that wasn't a surprise, after all, it's been a long time since her body has consumed something.
The last thing she remembers was the night king entering her castle and killing all the people who tried to protect her before he grabbed her by her neck, after that, she lost consciousness, it was like had slept since then because she had no idea of what happened between that moment and this one.
"I thought you were dead, to be honest, had to cover you in a lot of clothes to warm you…It's been a week since that," the man said as he continued eating the fish.
"If that's the case then I guess this should be for you," Cersei said with a defeated tone before she handed back the fish to the man.
"Are you sure? I'll save it for later, once we get to Winterfell I hope we'll be able to make some fire," Jon said before he threw on the ground the remains of the fish he ate.
He also threw a coat on the floor and soon, he put a lot of snow on it alongside the fish Cersei didn't want to eat, the older woman was watching with fascination how the younger man was able to get more fish on the river, she knew she shouldn't be surprised by this, after all, he was on the wall, he had to learn some survival skills and considering they were here completely safe, it was obvious he was an expert at it.
"I think that's enough for a few days for the two of us, we'll cook them back in Winterfell," Jon said with a calm tone before he closed the coat as he was getting ready to continue.
"Why are you doing this?" Asked the blonde with a concerned expression.
She didn't know how to feel about this, his family was dead, and it was all thanks to her, she wanted him to hate her, she deserved to be hated, and yet, the man who has lived like a bastard and who actually was the rightful heir of the iron throne, he was treating her like a human being despite everything she did.
"Don't misunderstand me…I don't think you're a good person and even though most of the tragedies in my family are because of you…I'm still conflicted about my place in this world, I don't know how to feel about my Eddard, whom I always thought was my father when in reality he was my uncle, my supposed siblings were actually my cousins, it's so confusing," Jon sighed.
Cersei could only nod and listen, she was trying to remain as calm as she could but on the other hand, the realization that she was in front of the only descendant of Rhaegar made her feel a little weird, it seemed like even after death he was still haunting her, she has tried to replace that man ever since then and everyone has been a complete disappointment.
"However…I don't want to be the only human on these lands, and killing you won't bring them back, the world has suffered enough, but also…" Jon stopped for a few moments and Cersei raised her brow. "Your brother Tyrion asked me to save you in his last moments, he wanted to save you," confessed the man, and Cersei was a little surprised.
Her brother supposedly hated her and yet even in his death he was weak, she was feeling a little weird because he was dead and she was alive, even after everything she had said about him and yet he wanted to save her, in the end, he won, he's going to make her feel miserable for the rest of her life and she will always have regrets, she was feeling conflicted, being in a near-death experience really makes you change.
"Come, we better get going before the sun goes down," Jon said and she nodded.
The next few days were quite busy for them, they had to adjust to their new lives now that they seemed to be the only survivors, luckily the cold started to ease during these past few days which according to Jon meant that spring was getting closer and closer, she was thankful of that once that day comes she'll get back to the south to a warmer place.
Winterfell provided a lot of things for the pair, there was clean water thanks to the rivers, and cold water for them to clean up their bodies, Cersei wasn't an expert but she tried to be as useful as possible, even if she was a proud person she didn't want to let the man do everything, she didn't want to own him anything.
Surprisingly, as days went by she got used to him, and they started to get along more and more, she started to see him in a very different light, he was always serious but Cersei could also see him smiling secretly and it made her feel weird things, it reminded her of the days when she used to secretly watch Rhaegar before he got married.
That rare smile of his was so typical of Rhaegar, she was surprised she never realized that, well, she never paid attention to him before his linage was revealed, back when Robert dragged her and their children here, Jon was nothing but stain in the Stark family's honor, he was something Cersei was getting ready to use if Lady Catalyn continued being a nuisance to her but luckily she didn't have to.
As the days went by and knowing that they were going to be together for the rest of their lives, they decided to start to open up to each other, Jon proposed to her to start anew, to forget about everything that led to this, after all, they'll need each other if they want to survive and Cersei was surprised by his logical way of thinking and she happily accepted.
They shared food and cooked together as Jon was the most experienced of the pair when it came to that, but Cersei also had the sewing skills needed to repair their clothing, and as days passed by the older woman couldn't help but feel attracted to the younger man, he was brave, smart, strong and handsome, and when she wants something, she doesn't hesitate to take it that's what has lead to this kiss they're currently sharing.
They suddenly stopped kissing and Jon had a shocked expression while Cersei was looking at him with a nervous expression, soon, he did something she wasn't expecting, the younger man suddenly kissed her, this time he was the one taking the lead and Cersei couldn't be happier.
