I'm sitting on the ground outside of the hotel with Husk sitting in front of me. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him near to me in efforts to soothe him. He was having a full on panic attack and was trembling vigorously. I can't say that I blame him after finding out that his son is here. Worst even, he checked into the hotel which was just going to make things harder and more stressful for Husk.
Sure, it was great that he was seeking redemption but Husk still carried a lot of guilt for giving his children up when they were alive. I felt terrible seeing him suffer as much as he was. "Try to focus on your breathing, Husky," I said in a soothing tone as I rubbed his shoulder with one of my upper hands. Husk tried to slow his breathing but was instead choking on his own air. It was then that I realized that Husk's anxiety was too high to be able to concentrate on his breath or anything else for that matter. Gracie calls it, 'being in fight or flight mode.'
Knowing the state he was in, I called Gracie on her hellphone and asked her to meet us out there. A few minutes later she comes out and crouches low to the ground and places a hand on Husk's shoulder and rubs it a bit in an effort to soothe him, "husk, we're going to try and work on some grounding techniques, are you ready?" Husk nodded his head forward still hyperventilating. She had a couple of things with her one thing being a fleece weighted blanket and the other being a small bottle of lavender essential oil. She takes the blanket and wrapped it around Husk's body essentially wrapping him up like a burrito.
She then pulls out the bottle of essential oil and twists the cap open and gives it to Husk who takes it into his hand. "Okay, now I want you to breathe that smell in and try to visualize that you are in a field of lavender flowers." He lifts the bottle up close to his nose and inhales the scent just before he closes his eyes. I could tell that it was working as his breathing gradually began to slow down. "Very good, Husk!!
Now I want you to open your eyes and whenever you're ready, I want you to tell me five things you can see around you." He looked around and named out five things. Gracie then proceeded to talk him through the rest of the grounding exercise and by then end of it, he had finally calmed down. "Husk, now that you are calmed back down, did you want to meet me in my office?" He shook his head, "honestly, I would rather go to bed now but I don't want to run into Demetrius on the way back."
I stood up and offered my hand out to him. He took it and then stood up beside me. I embraced him and kissed him tenderly, "if that's what you want, mio Caro we'll just sneak through the back and head upstairs that way." He pulled my face to him and kissed me before bringing my forehead in to touch his. He closed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh, "grazie, mi amore." I lifted my head up and turned to face Gracie who was slightly gushing at the sight of us being affectionate towards one another, "hey, Gracie?
Can you let Charlie and Vaggie know that we went upstairs? Just tell her that we needed to excuse ourselves because Husk is sick right now and I need to take care of him." She nodded her head toward us, "of course, Angel. I'll let her know. You guys go ahead and head upstairs."
Husk and I nodded our heads before Husk replied, "perhaps, if you have time tomorrow we could talk about what happened, then?" She nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder before going inside, "of course, Husk. Take as much time as you need." Husk sighed and took my hand and walked with me to the back entrance.
A few minutes later we got upstairs and were in our bedroom. We take off our clothes and then stepped into the walk in shower. Husk turned on the water to the shower and once it was warm we stepped in directly below the rain styled shower head. Husk let out a sigh of relief and closed his eyes dropping his wings in a more relaxed state. I took the loofah off the hook that it was hanging from and squeezed some lavender body wash into it.
I lathered it up and began washing Husk's back. He purred lightly in response to the affectionate gesture. I chuckled in response and kissed his cheek before continuing to wash him. "Do you normally wash your wings with soap or do you just wet them to prevent your skin from drying out?" I looked over his shoulder at me and spoke softly, "it's just like what a bird does.
I tried washing them with soap before and my wings were itching for weeks." I nodded my head knowingly and continued washing him around his wings, being careful not to get soap on them. He smiled warmly at me and went right back to purring. Once his entire back side was washed I placed the loofah back on the hook and grabbed the hand held shower head turned it on before rinsing the lather off of him. Once he was completely rinsed off I placed the hand held shower head back where I had found it.
He then turned around and grabbed my hand and led me over to stand in front of him, "okay, your turn, Caro." I giggled slightly and he took the hand held shower head and saturated the fur on my back with water before grabbing the loofah from the hook and began washing my back. I let out a sigh as I felt myself melting into his touch. He purred in response. Once he had finished washing my back, he placed the loofah back on the hook and took the hand held shower head down again and rinsed my back off.
After I'm completely rinsed off he, places the shower head back in the holder and pulls my back into his chest and wraps one arm across my chest and the other one across my waist and begins kissing me down my neck.
