It was Sunday and woke up for the start of the day. I had spent the night at Max's house because according to her, this stuff was an all day sort of thing. I actually hadn't woken up of my own free will. Max had awoken me from right beside her.
"What time is it?" I asked with a yawn. I got out of bed. I was wearing a pair of pink pajamas which were a lot more comfortable than I thought that they would be. I also didn't have to worry about anybody other than my family and Max seeing me in them, even though I was pretty sure that no one else cared.
"7:00" She answered. "It's time to get up."
"Why on Earth do you get up so early on a Sunday?" I questioned.
"Because these things take all day to get ready for. Plus, we have to go to church. I'll loan you some of my clothes for that." She explained. I wasn't aware that she went to church. She didn't seem very religious. Maddie and Esteban were the only religious people that I knew.
"Great." I remarked with another yawn. I hoped there would be coffee.
"My parents really like you." She stated. I still didn't know why she didn't like them. It seemed like the only issue was that they wanted her to be more feminine. "They're absolutely ecstatic that you convinced me to become a cheerleader."
"So how do you feel about it?" I asked. I was pretty sure that I had some bedhead but that would be fixed when I got out of the shower.
"I think I might have been too quick to judge." She admitted. "I guess I was wrong to think that I wouldn't like something without trying it. It's actually pretty fun and exhilarating. What do you think?"
"I was kind of fun being thrown into the air like that. I guess it's something that I could get used to. But now I know that cheerleading really is a sport." I agreed. "So, what's on the itinerary for today?"
"Wow I didn't know that you knew that word." She replied with a giggle.
"Hey, I'm not a dumb blonde." I replied in offense. Maybe it was because Cody and I weren't identical that I didn't feel as much pressure to hide my intelligence. "I have the grades to prove it."
"Yeah, and you need to keep those grades up." She responded. "That means doing your homework and turning it in. You can't just be lazy."
"I know. You made yourself pretty clear when it comes to that." I stated. I was starting to get annoyed by it. "So can you please answer the question?"
"Okay we have church then we'll be heading to the tanning salon, followed the hair salon, nail salon and then we'll head back here." She explained. Why did we need to go to three different salons? "So, basically we have a long day ahead of us."
"Why do we need to go to all of those different salons?" I asked. "Isn't there a place that can do all three?"
"Yes, but my mom says if a place divides their business among three things you get a third of the quality for each." Max responded. It seemed like it was both a waste of time and money, despite the fact that her family was very rich. "So, basically, it's out of the question. Now do you want to have the first shower or should I and no there is not an option to share?"
"I don't know if I would be comfortable enough to do that anyway." I replied. I don't even know why she would suggest it unless it was something that she wanted to do. "Ever I changed I've had this insecurity."
"It's not something uncommon. A lot of girls are insecure. Insecurity is one of the biggest issues for teenage girls." She explicated.
"Including you." I stated. I knew that she was insecure about some things even if she wouldn't admit it.
"Including me." She agreed. "But it's usually just a phase that most grow out of. You might not want to but you do need to accept the possibility that we may never find out how to change you back. Hopefully we will."
"Yeah, it's all starting to sink in." I remarked. Unless there was some sort of time limit on the spell, which I actually hoped there wasn't because I could change back at a very bad time. "I do feel kind of bad for turning Mark down though. I just don't want to go to prom with a guy right now."
I found out that Mark was one of Cody's friends. Yes, he had friends that weren't the two of us.
"You know I probably would've gone with you if you asked." She pointed out. I had thought about asking her, even though I was more looking for someone who would have sex with me. "I mean we'd probably only be going as friends anyway. Then we know you would still be a guy."
"There's a number of things that I could have done other than ask her." I argued. "But none of what I could have done matters because I didn't do any of them."
"That's true." She agreed. She actually seemed to be surprised by my answer. Did she really not know that I was actually smart, just not motivated? "So, I guess you can have the shower first. Oh and you need to be careful what you in there because it's right above the kitchen."
I blushed and I kind of wanted to say that it was a rude thing to say. I wouldn't do that in someone else's shower. Had I touched myself? Yes, but in private when no one else was around. I wanted to know how it would feel and it actually did feel pretty good, but I also felt weird for doing it. Anyway, I started to sing as I bathed myself. Singing in the shower was something that I did even before I changed.
Hey slow it down
What do ya want from me?
What do ya want from me?
Yeah I'm afraid
What do ya want from me?
What do ya want from me?
There might have been a time when I would give myself away
Once upon a time I didn't give a damn
But now here we are
So what do ya want from me?
What do ya want from me?
Just don't give up I'm working it out
Please don't give in I won't let you down
It messed me up need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around hey
What do ya want from me?
What do ya want from me?
What do ya want from me?
I started to wash my hair as I continued to sing. I wasn't sure if I should be embarrassed because according to Max, I could sing really well. I even had a YouTube channel. I hadn't posted anything new to it…because I didn't know how. I didn't know anything about making YouTube videos. Plus, I had been pretty busy, and I wasn't even sure what to do.
I exited the bathroom wrapped in a towel. I knew that I was supposed to cover my chest with it.
"I picked out some clothes for you. My parents like me to dress up for church." She said. I noticed that she had chosen a red bra and panties, white blouse, a navy vest with a matching knee-length skirt and white stockings. She wasn't looking at me.
"Max, I know you said this whole insecurity thing is normal but maybe we should try to get over it." I suggested. "I mean as much as I don't want to say this, we're both girls and don't have anything the other doesn't have. You don't have to look away."
"I guess you're right." She admitted. She had actually already seen my breasts when she taught me about bras. "But hurry up and get dressed. I don't wanna stare."
I dropped my towel and started to get dressed. Part of the reason that I did this was because I wanted to see how she reacted to me naked. The thing was I still attracted to girls, even though I seemed to be attracted to guys as well, as much as I didn't want to be.
However, when I was about half dressed, she rushed into the bathroom. Oh, yeah, she probably realized that she should have got in the shower as soon as I was done.
After we were showered, dressed, and fed, we headed to church. I didn't really see the appeal of church. I even saw the appeal of religion, even if I didn't practice it, but sitting in a building like that was just boring. I also found out that there wouldn't be an opportunity to change because of our many appointments. When we got to the hair salon, I realized that I had no idea what I was doing.
"What do you want done?" The stylist asked. Max seemed to know, but I didn't think that I could just copy her.
"I don't know. I'm going to a ball and I have no idea how to wear my hair." I admitted. "Maybe you should pick for me."
"I think I have just the thing." She remarked.
When we left, Max's hair was curled slightly and mine was also curled but in a different way that I didn't know the technical term for.
After we were done there, we went back to Max's house to finish getting ready. I started to put on my dress. Max didn't look happy when she saw her dress. It was emerald green and it seemed like she had a pushup bra because her breasts looked bigger. I blushed a little seeing her.
We arrived at the ball at the St. Mark at 7:00. I couldn't believe that it took so long to get ready. We also went in her limo because according to Max, she wasn't allowed to drive to them because her parents thought that she would leave early or something. I couldn't help but wonder if she had ever talked to her parents and told them that she didn't like them.
"So, what am I supposed to do?" I asked. In addition to my dress, I was also wearing a pair of pink gloves. Apparently, that was something that was customary in this sort of place. I looked at Max and couldn't help but think that it was the prettiest that I had ever seen her before. It wasn't that I didn't think that she was pretty, it was just that she seemed to like to hide how beautiful she was.
"For about twenty minutes, it's okay to mingle. But for most of night, you need to stand still and look pretty until a guy asks you to dance. I recommend going to the bathroom now because you won't get a chance to later"" She explained. Okay, I could see how something like that would be unappealing. The two of us decided to go up to the 6th floor bathroom because we figured that it would be less crowded. I actually had to hold the end of my dress because it was easier to walk that way. It amazed me how much of a girl I had become in less than a week.
"So how many of these have you been to?" I asked after we both came out of our stalls.
"12, counting this one." She answered. "So far, they've all sucked."
"I heard someone say that there's a surprise guest tonight." I remarked. I couldn't help but wonder what would qualify as a surprise guest. "I wonder who it is."
"I have no idea." She stated as I heard a toilet flush. I had been completely unaware that anyone else had been in there.
The door opened to reveal Hannah Montana in a sparkling red gown but then I noticed something different about her. Her hair was both brown and her normal blonde. Then I noticed more brown under the blonde.
"Why are you wearing a wig?" I asked her.
"What?" Hannah replied as she checked her head and noticed that her wig was crooked. She quickly fixed it "Crap. Please don't tell anyone."
"We won't tell but I have two questions." Max replied. Was her wearing a wig really a big deal? "Why do you wear a wig and why are you here?"
"Well, I'll start by answer the second question." Hannah remarked. "I'm here because I'm singing tonight. The girls are supposedly huge fans and their parents paid me 5 million to come here."
"Okay and the first?" I questioned.
"This is a huge secret that I really hope you can keep. I want to know that I can trust you two here." She remarked. I still didn't see how her wearing a wig was a huge deal.
"You can trust me." I stated. "I'm good at keeping secrets. I have some that not even my parents know."
"And I'm her best friend, so you can trust me too." Max added. I didn't know if that was the best reasoning.
"Let me start by asking you what your names are." The blonde who was really a brunette declared. She then looked at me. "Wait a minute. I know you."
"You do?" I questioned. Had that stuff with meeting her still happened and how would she remember that since it seemed like it would be pretty insignificant to her?
"Yeah, my best friend watches your videos on YouTube." She stated. Okay, that made more sense. "It's Zoey, isn't it?"
"Yeah." I answered. That was actually my channel name: ItsZoey.
"And I'm Maxine Baker but everyone calls me Max." Max replied.
"Pleased to meet you." Hannah said. "My name is Miley Stewart. I'm a high school student from Malibu."
Okay, I was not expecting that. My mind was a little blown. I was surprised that she was willing to tell us that. I wasn't going to tell anyone because I promised that I wouldn't, but I definitely could have because it would be big news.
"Anyway, you're really good." She told me. "I can relate to being a second-generation musician."
"Thanks that means a lot coming from you." I replied with a blush. It was one thing hearing it from my friends and family, but an actual singer telling me that made me feel a lot different.
"Listen, I can't really talk now but I'm in town until Tuesday. Maybe we can hang out tomorrow?" Miley suggested.
"Is after 4:00 good?" Max asked. "We have cheerleading until then."
"Yeah that will work." Miley agreed. "I'll pick you up from school. Oh. and please don't tell anyone you're hanging with Hannah because you're not. The wig won't be on."
I didn't know why she would think that we would. Anyway, she walked one direction toward the back of the ballroom, and we headed to the front.
Max wasn't kidding when she said that there was a lot of waiting. Apparently, the girls were split by those who had debutante balls and those who hadn't because the ones who had were wearing white. This one was for Jessica and Janice. I had dated one of them, but I wasn't entirely sure which one because I couldn't tell them apart. They were more similar than Cody and I ever had been Miley as Hannah took the stage after the girls were informed to behave like the young women they were and started to sing her hit "I'm Just A Girl".
I stood in place as I noticed someone walking towards me. It wasn't just anyone though. It was someone that I had seen before, even though we had never really talked.
"You're Todd St. Mark." I said. I probably shouldn't have said that because I imagined that he knew who he was.
"Yes, and you appear to be underage." He replied. "But you stand out to me anyway. Would you like to dance?"
"Sure." I agreed as Todd took my hand. Part of me thought that I should be creeped out because he knew that I was underage, but I didn't think that he had any malicious intent. "I'm Zoey."
"So, when is your ball?" He asked as he took me to the dancefloor.
"I don't think I'm going to have one." I declared with a blush. "I'm just here because a friend asked me to come with her."
"I see." He said as we started to move together. I had to admit it felt kind of nice.
"But I actually do come from a wealthy family." I stated. I wasn't sure why I felt the need to impress him because he probably didn't care. "My dad's being elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year."
"You don't have to try to impress me." He assured me. "For one, nothing will happen between us. Besides I have my eyes on someone else. Someone who's not here."
"Would that someone be London Tipton by any chance?" I asked. Maddie had told me about that.
"How did you know about that?" Todd asked in surprise as he let me go. Fortunately, he didn't make a scene. "Are you a tabloid reporter in disguise?"
"No, I'm sort of friends with her. Or maybe a better term would be really good acquaintances with her. I'm not one of her friend friends but I do know her pretty well. But if you want to be with her, that's perfectly fine with me. I'm not really looking for a relationship or a husband anyways." I babbled because I really wanted him to calm down.
The ball ended at 10:00. I got my stuff from Max's house before I headed back to the hotel.
The next day, Miley picked us up from cheerleading practice.
"So, do you wanna go get some food?" Miley asked.
"Yeah." I answered. "What about McDonalds?"
"Sounds good." Miley said as she drove us to Mickey D's.
We ordered our food and sat down where I noticed one of the employees looked familiar.
"Trent?" I asked. We used to play basketball together. I hoped that we still knew each other in this new timeline. Fortunately, he seemed to recognize me because he walked over.
"Zoey Martin. It's been a while." He greeted me.
"Yeah, I didn't know you worked here." I declared with a blush.
"Yeah listen, I was wondering if maybe you'll go out with me." He replied. I didn't know what to say.
So Zoey and Max met Miley and she had a bit of a situation with Todd, but she's not ever going to date him. Please don't forget to review.
