I don't wanna be alone.
Rin got married.
It was that night when she felt utterly alone. Rin was carried off by her new husband, and that was the end of that.
Shippo was gone, Rin was gone, Sango was gone, Miroku was gone, Inuyasha...
The night seemed darker now, and she looked up at the stars above.
She didn't want to be alone; it scared her. How had Kaede done it?
The wind blew, and she saw Sesshomaru walk up the dirt road, it was clear he said his goodbyes and now he to was alone. He looked up, and his eyes met hers.
He came closer, and the wind blew harder. "Are you leaving?" She asked.
"Why would I stay, Miko?"
"Right, forgot you like being alone,"
"Do you not also like being alone?"
She raised an eyebrow. "No, why would you think that?"
"Because you are always so,"
Then he walked away. "So are you," She whispered, and then it dawned on her that she judged him without really ever knowing. Just because he was always alone didn't mean he wanted to be alone, did it? Was that what he was telling her?
Maybe, just maybe, he didn't either.
Rin was going to stay in the village, at least for a little while, so Kagome knew she would see Sesshomaru again. She would apologize when he came around again.
But Kagome would be alone until then. The rain came, then cold, and then snow.
Days turned into weeks, and Kagome wondered if he would come back.
"Lady Kagome," She heard Rin say. "Hai come in, Rin,"
Rin ducked into the hut, "Hi!" She said brightly,
"What brings you in, Rin?"
Rin sat down, "Lady Kagome, I was hoping you could help me?"
"Of course, um, with that?"
Rin blushed and looked shy,
"Rin?"
"I um, I think I'm, um-
Kagome knew instantly, "You think you're pregnant?"
"Hia" Rin whispered.
Kagome smiled. "Lay down, let's see!"
Rin did as she was told, and Kagome hovered her hand over Rin's small belly, and then her smile grew. "Hai Rin, you are!"
Rin smiled so big and sat up and hugged Kagome. Then she pulled away, and her smile faded.
"What's wrong, Rin?"
"It's just I feel bad,"
"Why?"
"Ano, everyone is married and happy and having babies, and my Lord and you are alone,"
Kagome gave her a small smile. "It's ok, Rin; Lord Sesshomaru has forever. He will find someone, I'm sure."
"But what about you? You don't have forever," She said,
Kagome smiled. "I'm young,"
Rin blinked,
"Ok, I'm young as far as my time is concerned,"
"But Lady Kagome, we aren't in your time,"
Kagome smiled faded, Rin was right.
Both women gasp, "Lord Sesshomaru is here! I have to go tell him!" Rin bolted out the door, and Kagome stayed right where she was.
Alone and getting older. She was human, after all.
