"Hi…" Rose said nervously as she approached the bench that Jack was sat on, him not noticing her walking towards him. "Hi" he smiled awkwardly as she sat beside him. "So…" Jack started "so…" Rose replied, unsure what to say. "How have you been?" He asked. "Good…" Rose replied, feeling guilty for being honest over how well things had gone for her the last few years. "Well, the first few years were tough, and lonely… but when I met Henry and had Charlie… things started to look up" she sighed gently, avoiding eye contact with him, but noticing him nod slightly. "She's mine, isn't she?" He asked. Rose nodded a little in response, immediately knowing who Jack was talking about. "Yes… I tell her all about you, she knows Henry isn't her Dad. She's never called him Dad…" Rose panicked, not wanting to upset Jack. "I wouldn't blame you or her if she did… I've never been around" Jack sighed. "I'm sorry I've sprung all of this on you" she gave him an awkward look. "Don't be… it's not like we knew one another were alive… so… Emilia says you're married? That you have 2 other kids?" Jack asked, in almost a disappointed tone, he was sad that it was clear that he and Rose would never become a couple, now that Rose was settled, but also pleased she had someone to take such good care of her… someone she clearly loved…

"Yes… we've been together almost 5 years… Charlie is 4 and Alfie is almost 2 weeks" she nodded, but tried to change the subject, not wanting to upset Jack. "What about you? How've you been? What've you been up to?" She asked, finally looking at him. "I stayed in New York after the sinking… I tried to look for you, but you weren't on the survivors list?" He asked confused "I used a fake name, so Cal wouldn't find me" she shrugged "sorry… carry on…" she said "I moved back here about a month ago, wanting to face my past I guess. I can't believe we've never crossed paths here, I don't even recognise Henry from anywhere… I got a job as a teacher just after I moved back, that's when I met Emilia" Jack frowned confused. "I'm surprised she's never talked about you. She never mentioned she had gotten a new teacher, but she doesn't really speak of school that often, she kind of gives short answers when we ask" Rose said awkwardly. "I think that's a 7 year old thing" Jack chuckled "she does really well at school, I always get the impression she enjoys it, that she's happy" he tried to reassure her. "Good" Rose said quietly before they sat there in an uncomfortable silence.

"I can tell her, if you'd like?" Rose offered. Jack looked at her suddenly and surprised, knowing exactly what she was talking about. "I don't want to put pressure on you though… if you don't think you can be a Dad to her, I'll understand. It's a lot to take in, and I'd need to explain all of this to Henry first…" she rambled. "I don't want to turn her world upside down" Jack said apologetically. "I think I could be a great Dad to her… but she seems settled, it's obvious she's happy with the 4 of you, it seems unfair to put all of this on her… can we give it time?" He asked, giving her a sad look. "Of course we can" Rose nodded. "Just let me know when you're ready" she continued. "Thank you…" Jack sighed gently. "Are you happy, Rose?" Jack asked. "Yes" she nodded "I'm sorry" she sighed gently, the last thing she wanted was to upset or hurt Jack, but she knew that he would know if she was lying. "Don't apologise… I'm glad, you deserve it" he nodded. "Thank you" she smiled gently. "Does he know where you are?" Jack asked, referring to Henry. "No" Rose shook her head "I think telling him I was meeting my assumed dead ex partner and the father of my child might have given him a heart attack" she chuckled ever so slightly "I told him I've gone for a walk to get some peace and quiet" she nodded with a small smile "but I best get back, Alfie will need feeding soon" she said as she stood up. "I'm going to tell him about this tomorrow night, when the kids are in bed, but I think I need 24 hours to wrap my head around all of this" she smiled weakly, watching as he stood up "of course" he smiled back a little. "In the meantime, don't treat Emmy different to any of the other children in her class, if she's a terror, treat her as you would the other kids" Rose raised an eyebrow, remembering what a soft touch Jack could be. "Emmy? Is that her nickname?" He asked sadly, wishing he knew all this stuff about her "yes" Rose smiled weakly, knowing what he was thinking "but please don't call her that, only me and Henry do, so if you did, she would guess something was going on" she said with another apologetic look, getting a small but understanding nod from Jack in response, but he continued speaking nonetheless "she never misbahves, but I'll be sure to remember that" he chuckled. "Thank you" Rose smirked a little. "I'm sure I'll see you soon" she nodded gently "I'll come to the school in the next few days when I've explained everything to Henry" she said "OK… see you soon, Rose" he said, unsure whether to kiss her cheek, but out of respect for her and Henry, decided against it.
