Chapter 5

Ada felt a sharp pain in her waist, running down to her leg. She groaned as she opened her eyes, the room was completely dark except for the light that filtered under the door. She seemed to be alone, and it was dark. She recognized one of the rooms in the medical wing. She looked at her hand connected to the IV. Without hesitation she unhooked the IV and swung her feet off the bed. The pain was excruciating but it was still less worse than being in a medical room. She lifted her white coat and looked at the bandages that covered her entire waist and remembered the previous events. She smiled softly remembering that Wesker had saved her, what was so special about her that he would act like that with her? She stood up slowly, not feeling stable on her legs. Once standing, she remained leaning slightly forward. The painkillers still seemed to be working because the pain was still bearable. She walked to the door and opened it slowly, it was dark so there was hardly anyone there at this time. She walked in her sock to the elevator, careful not to run into anyone. She noticed that she didn't have her badge. Fortunately she remembered the code to still be able to access the private apartments on level four, once the elevator opened she walked slowly to her apartments, leaning against the wall, she opened the apartment with her personal code. She turned on the lights and headed into her room. She took off her blouse to change into more comfortable pajamas consisting of wide pants and a crop top. She paid attention to her stitches. Looking at the time, it was 3:30 a.m. the next night. She had therefore lost consciousness for almost 24 hours. She poured herself a glass of water before settling into her own bed. The fatigue was still very present. She raised her left wrist, stuck in a splint above her head, and looked at him. What was she to him? Why was he doing all this for her? Only because it would be a thorn in the side to lose her? Because she mattered to him? Because he needed her for these plans? She sighed, the only way to get the answer was to ask him directly. She then closed her eyes, letting herself fall into a deep sleep.

Ada reva from Racoon city.

-Take care of yourself Leon. She gave him a sweet smile before letting go of his hand.At least you have to survive. And she fell into the void.

Ada sat up with a start, she was sweating and breathing quickly. She leaned forward, one hand on her forehead, her eyes closed. It was daytime, she was in her room and her waist was pulling her in pain.

-You caused a little trouble. She quickly raised her head upon hearing this voice, Wesker was sitting in the armchair located in a dark corner of the room, his sunglasses missing. He got up and delicately removed the covers from the young woman. She said nothing as he lifted her top to look at those bandages.I came to see you every two hours. And when I arrived at four o'clock you were no longer in your room. The nurses started looking for you but I told them to leave it alone. I thought I knew where you were. So I came to look in your room and I was right. I don't even know how you managed to get up and come here alone when 12 hours earlier you were at death's door... So I stayed here to watch you.She was surprised that he admitted to her that he had stayed here to watch her. He placed his hand on the wound on her back and on her waist. You're lucky I didn't open any stitches sitting up like that, I worked hard to close his wounds and fix the mess inside. He placed a hand on her forehead checking for a fever, then grabbed her wrist and checked her pulse. You are doing well considering the events. His touch was surprisingly pleasant.

So it was Albert himself who operated on her and saved her? However, he no longer normally practiced medicine or surgery.

-You really have nothing better to do than watch over me.She asked, placing her back against the wall next to her bed. The man stood up in front of the bed.

-If a certain person hadn't run away from the medical wing in the middle of the night I wouldn't have had to stay here monitoring his symptoms and his condition instead of the medical team. She looked away. She hated the infirmary.Anyway, you were lucky not to have developed any complications but you will still have to stay in bed for a few days. I'll ask someone to make you breakfast. It's already nine o'clock. She remained silent so he prepared to leave.

-Albert ? The man stopped, surprised by how weakly she pronounced his name. He turned and saw her head down on her hands.

-I'm listening to you.She sighed, she herself didn't know what she was going to say, but she wanted answers, since the time she was under his orders, she needed these answers. She couldn't wait any longer. After meeting Chris and Claire, she questioned herself. Everything was going to be played out there. It was time to clear everything up.

-What am I to you?...I mean...you show yourself so differently with me than with all your other employees. It's what ? Pity? In five years you have changed...Wesker looked at her, he was surprised even if he didn't show it, this woman really had guts... But she was right, what was she to him? At first he saw an object in her, an object that would bring him something but when she woke up, when she said she wanted to die it was pity, he wanted to show her that he was right to save her . It was almost a selfish desire. But then ? Why did he care about her more than the others? Why had he been so scared when she didn't answer the walki talki the night before? He felt something different about her. He sincerely cared for Ada...did he...love her? He closed his eyes at the thought. He never wanted to ask himself the question: feelings were only a weak point. So why was she different to him? Why did it hurt to see her hurt? He didn't say anything for a moment and then he suddenly spoke.

-I'll come at one o'clock to change your bandages. With that, he left the room. Leaving the woman alone with her thoughts. She bit her lip. She was a fool to think she would have an answer. She doesn't know how long she was without these thoughts but she heard a knock. She got up and opened it. It was a young man who brought her the meal tray, she thanked him and went to put the tray at her dining table, she then noticed various pills near the glass of water. It could only be one person who put it on him. She sighed and took them. Probably antibiotics, painkillers and other things she didn't know about, he was still worse than a daddy hen in fact. She giggled at the thought. When she had eaten, she cleared the tray and went to sit on the sofa. Today she had rest and she wasn't against it. She sat down on the couch, legs all the way, and turned on the television while grabbing her laptop and reading the report from the previous mission. Once finished she put the computer down and looked at the television as she felt tired again, her eyes began to close and she fell asleep again around eleven o'clock.

Later.

She felt someone sit down on the couch next to her and brush a dark lock of hair from her face. She then jumped, opening her eyes from her heavy sleep.

-It is only me.The voice of a blond man spoke to him. She let out a groan of frustration, normally no one would have been able to approach her this close without waking her. Except him, his condition doesn't help matters. She opened her eyes and looked at him, still lost in sleep. He had placed the treatment kit on the coffee table.

-Is it already one o'clock? He just nodded.

-I need to see the condition of the wounds and change the dressings.

-Can't you ask one of the thirty doctors on site to do it? Why do you want to do it yourself? She sat up straighter in the couch while squinting her eyes in pain at the tightness of the wounds, the painkillers were starting to wear off and the pain was now a dull ache. He didn't respond, so she took off her top, leaving her only in her bra. He grabbed the bandage and unwound it.

-Lie on your back so that I have a better view of the front wound. She simply obeys. He put on gloves then she felt his cold hands press lightly around the wound before applying disinfectant and putting a compress back on, she then rolled onto her side so that he had access to the second wound on her back. He did the same again.

-You have two points that popped. I'm going to have to do them again for you.A pleasant silence ensues. She closed her eyes with a frown as she felt him pass the needle through her skin. But he did that very quickly before putting a compress on it. Then she sat up as he put a band around her waist. She looked at him out of the corner of her eye. He was focused on what he was doing. He got up and went to the trash to throw away the soiled bandages and compresses. She put her top back on and he returned to clear his equipment from the coffee table. She watched him do so in silence.

-I will come back tomorrow to check the injuries, no sudden movements, no shower and stay in bed. If there is anything send me a message. She cut him off.

-I know, if fever, nausea or pain. I know the chorus. He looked at her through his sunglasses.

-You are on leave for 5 days and after that it will be office work for at least two weeks and I will then notify you.She sniffed in disgust, she hated being cooped up. She looked away. She felt bad in his presence, he acted more coldly towards her than usual, normally he would have teased her. But nothing. Then she remembers how he brushed a lock of hair when she was asleep. It was unusual for him to do this, if not even the first time.

-Albert ? He turned to her as he made her a coffee. Thanks for your time, I know you have a lot on your plate, especially with the situation from the night before.

-The best agents need the best care if they want to return to the field quickly. He had a narcissistic smile on his lips

-So you're only doing this so you can make my pay profitable?Strangely, he didn't respond as he brought her his coffee. Honey, why else do you think I would do this.he whispered in her ear.Your talent is invaluable. She looked down. She was stupid to think it could be anything else.I'll come by around 9 p.m. and bring you food and medicine. He headed towards the door.Try to get some rest.He left the room. She sank back into the sofa. She was still in her pajamas and wondering if she was going to bother changing. Finally she concluded that staying in pajamas was a good alternative. She grabbed her coffee and stood up, groaning at the wave of pain before settling down at her desk, she did some research on the mutants she had encountered the day before while drinking the hot drink. They were T-virus test subjects. Wesker seemed to be trying to overpower the T-virus side effects with the G-virus, but it didn't seem conclusive based on what she saw yesterday. She wondered why continue to develop such time bombs. Racoon City still haunted her today, hell surely paled in comparison to that and she suspected that in the years to come such incidents would surely still take place. Why was she doing all this…for the money? No.. To achieve your own personal goal, but was it really worth it? She was completely at fault in the death of all the tests. She was the one who provided the G virus.. She closed her eyes, resting her head in her arms. There's no point in worrying like that Ada, nothing will change, try to think about your personal happiness a little. While leaning against the desk she turned her head towards the window, she looked at the mountains in the distance, deep down she was happy to be here, She loved her job, she loved what she did but hated why she did it .. and there was Albert. She had fallen in love with him, he could be calculating, narcissistic, inhuman with others, yet with her it had always been different, he could be caring, concerned, worried and even attentive. It was probably even the reason why she had never fled this place. She felt tired so she closed her eyes, she didn't even have the strength to go back to her bed. Why was she so tired, this injury had seriously affected him, and then Wesker said he operated on her. She probably still had the anesthesia in her blood. Her mind then moved towards Léon, she would have liked to see him with the others, She knew that the only person capable of convincing her and leaving was Léon... but he was an unattainable man for her, they had taken two different paths who could never reunite…. She let her mind wander before falling asleep.

A few hours later.

Ada woke up slowly with back pain. She had really fallen asleep in an uncomfortable position, she sat up and felt something fall to the ground. Looking, it was a blanket, she frowned, she had never worn one. She turned on her PC which dazzled her in the dim light of the room. It was dark. The woman looked at the time which showed 8:34 p.m., Wesker wasn't supposed to come until 9 p.m. Yet it seemed like he had done it and even covered her up. Why had he come, she would act really weak in front of him right now and that annoyed her... She decided to move on, frustrated by the fact that she had almost slept all day. She got up and grabbed the blanket and folded it. It was the blanket normally present on her sofa, so she went to put it down in its place. She doubled over as she started to walk, the pain really present now that she no longer had any medication in her blood. She didn't have any strong enough painkillers in her room and didn't want to go to the medical wing, she would wait for Wesker who would bring her some soon.

Somewhere else

Wesker sighed as he leaned back in his chair. He'd had a tiring day, dealing with the incident that happened 2 nights ago, touring his labs, having a meeting with Excella. He had to read the report from Krauser and the disinfection teams, take note of all this and many other additional tasks while watching over Ada, her injury was extremely serious, and she did not seem to realize it. She could have died. It sent a shiver down his spine, what would he have done if she had died that night. He had never thought about her possible loss, she seemed invulnerable but no he was nothing of that. She was still just a simple human and she couldn't face such mutants alone. He had thought about what she had said to him, he himself had forgotten his part of humanity, but she seemed to come out with this woman, his desires remained a human feeling, and he wanted this woman. He loved her and wanted her to be his, but recently he found himself being more sentimental with her. And he knew full well that it was mutual. Now what was he going to do with that. He had the cards in his hands. It's up to him to use them. He had tried to come and chat with her late in the afternoon, only to find her asleep on the desk, in front of the research files on the T virus. He then turned off his computer and covered her because she was cold. , he didn't want to move her for fear of waking her or opening her wounds, he stayed there observing her for a long time, telling himself that human beings were so fragile, a simple blow would made them dependent on others for their survival and dependent on medicine. He, always affected by the Progenitor virus, and being a child of the Wesker project had never really been treated like a human, then he had become almost immortal after injecting himself with the Wesker T virus. However today he had taken a liking to a human. A strong human but a human nonetheless. Who requires protection, attention to survive in this world of bioterrorism.

He looked at the ceiling in his office and crossed his arms. Was it because he was a monster that he wasn't allowed to experience affection? After all, it wasn't Ada who was going to stop him from achieving his goal. She would just be extra fun. His choice was then made. He looked at the time, it was almost 9 p.m., he had promised Ada to bring her his meal. He then grabbed his car keys and went for a little errand.

Chez Ada.

She changed her top but kept her pants loose. She put on a loose shirt then hunched forward out of breath. The pain was really bad right now. After all, she had almost had her stomach pierced by a mutant monster's tentacle.Disgusting.She whispered. She got up and went to the living room but almost fell in pain on the way, quickly catching herself on the edge of her dresser. Her breath was short, despite everything, she reached the couch. She sat there for several minutes before hearing a knock. She didn't open. If it was Wesker he had the code to enter, which he does. He walked in with a bag of food in his hand. She looked at him weakly, raising an eyebrow. Way to say "Seriously, a restaurant?" . He gave her a big smile as he walked towards her.

-You know that the minimum politeness is to answer when someone knocks. She doesn't say anything. It hurt just to breathe, her breaths were short and quick. He said nothing and placed the food on the coffee table then placed his hand on his forehead for fear that it would be ainfection, but she did not have a fever.

-Pain ?She nodded

-It's nothing, it will pass. She tried to sit up only to moan loudly. He took a syringe out of his pocket, so she looked at him curiously.

-I know how sensitive human beings are to pain, so I brought you some morphine.

-It's just you who's a little too insensitive to pain. He ignored the comment.

-I brought you something to eat, I know you like fried noodles so I thought it would help you eat.She raised her eyebrows in surprise. He had seriously bought what she liked to eat, but how did he know that in the first place.I'm observant, I know a lot of things about a lot of people that you didn't even know. He answered her silent question. He knelt in front of her, grabbed her wrist and stuck the syringe in. His touch was warm. She watched him silently, she strangely trusted him too much. He could have injected her with anything else. She doesn't know why she did this, but she leaned forward and rested her head on his shoulders. She was weak, in pain, tired and just wanted some warmth, he didn't push her away, and instead, he let go of her wrist and placed his hand on her hair, whispering in her ear.

-It will take effect in 5 minutes. His voice was surprisingly…soft. She didn't move, remaining like that while the morphine took effect. They remained silent. He is on his knees, Ada resting against his shoulder. He had never seen her like this, begging for so much attention. What had happened to make her become like this? After a while she withdrew.

-The pain subsides, thank you.She was already breathing more slowly and deeply. He nodded and went to get the food. He gave her his share and took hers before settling into his chair at the other corner of the table.

-So tell me what happened when you found Chris and his dear sister. She explained to him that she had come across them, that she thought it was a civilian but that the mutant came and attacked him. That Chris had abandoned her in front of the monster and left, that she had killed the first and that before she could go looking for them a second had appeared. In fact, she wasn't lying. He seemed thoughtful.

-It's strange that 2 of them mutated without specific reasons.

-Maybe stress was reason enough.Said Ada while eating.

-Possibly. I will have to verify this hypothesis.. He took a bite of his meal himself.

-The next time there is a risk of B.O.W, make sure we are prepared for... You can't imagine the hassle for the poor human being that I am to face monsters like that. She told him, shrugging her shoulders. He laughed lightly.

-I would note.A pleasant silence ensues. Ada looked out the window, being in deep thought.

-What are you thinking about, darling?

-To my life. The choices that brought me here.

-You at least had a choice in your life. My destiny was already mapped out from my childhood. Of course I decided to take this famous destiny back into my own hands by betraying Umbrella.

-Who tells you that my life is a choice?

-I have no doubt, otherwise you would have already betrayed me, so it is your choice to be here.He was right. If she wanted to leave, she would have done so a long time ago, death threats or not.And I know why you stay by my side, you have nothing to gain by it.He stood up to face her and grabbed her chin to raise his eyes to hers. He took off his sunglasses so that she could look into those piercing red eyes. You tell yourself that it's perfectly stupid but you fell in love with your boss. You are still that little bird lost in the nest who clung to the one person who took him under his wing. You are interesting Ada Wong and just for that you attracted my own curiosity and even developed feelings in me that I was unaware of. So if you are willing, I am willing to open certain doors for you, you have been able to awaken things in me that I thought were buried, after all, my spirit remains human. I remain a man who has his feelings and just for having awakened that in me you deserve to have access to them.To support his words he placed his lips on hers. Ada gasped, unable to respond to the kiss. He leaned back and let go of her chin with a smile on his face.I open youhis Ada doors. It's up to you to decide whether to cross them or not. If you accept, meet me in my quarters. You have until the end of the night to make your choice. She was speechless. He turned and left the room. She hadn't said anything. She wasn't capable of it. Albert Wesker had just admitted to her that he also felt something for her, even if it was in his own way. And he kissed her. This man offered her a place in her intimate life. She took a breath she didn't even know she was holding. Should she be relieved or horrified that he was offering to become intimate with her.
