Chapter 5: Wild Dog:
Donnie's POV:
Adam and I were at the park.
"Hey, look, it's Anna," says Adam.
"And she has a dog," I said. I then ran to her. "Hey Anna, is that your dog?"
"Ziss ees Rahse, my poodle ahnd she just hahd a bahth, so I would ahppreciate eet eef you deedn't get hair so deerty," I said.
Then Rose walked over to me. Anna may not like me but looks like Rose does! "Awe, who's a good clean dog," I asked.
"I dahn't believe eet! She hahs tahken a shine to you!" She then has a thought. "I might regret ziss... but Dahnnie, I hahve sahmetheeng tahnight, will you please wahtch my Rahse?"
"Sure," I said. Rose then started licking me.
"I suppahse eet helps zat zey ahre bahth ahneemahls... but I zought Rahse would prefair sahmeone of a highair evahlution!"
. . .
Anna then brought Rose to my house. "Don't worry, we got this," I said, "Adam's helping me!"
"Merci, now, I must go, Jahhn ees waiteeng fahr me! I will meess you, my Dahrleeng Rahse!" She then left.
"She has a date," says Adam.
"Yeah, I got that," I said.
. . .
"You sure you know what you're doing," asks Adam.
"Please, I know dogs," I said, "so, Rose, wanna play outside in the dirt?" Nothing. "Okay... wanna fight over this sock?" Nothing. "Wanna... drink out of the toilet?" Nothing.
"She was raised by Anna's family," says Adam, "they're all the fancy uptight types! Why do you think Anna gets mad every time you Donnie things up? Her whole family's like that!"
"Well, this is going to be different," I said. I then looked at the list that came with her. "What kind of dog likes baths?"
. . .
We then started bathing her. I hate baths and I think I like giving baths less.
. . .
We were then brushing her fur.
. . .
"This is stupid," I said, "she never even experienced being a dog!"
"I don't know," says Adam, "she seems pretty happy to me."
"That's because she's confused," I said, "she needs to learn how to be a dog!"
. . .
I was rolling in the dirt. Rose just walked away.
. . .
I was chewing my Dad's slippers. Rose just walked away.
. . .
I even bit Adam. "OW," shouts Adam. Rose just walked away.
. . .
"I keep telling you, you can't force anyone to change," says Adam, "not even a dog!"
"I guess so," I said.
Rose then sits on her special pillow on the floor. "She doesn't even try to sit on the couch," says Adam.
I then had an idea. "Maybe she just needs to learn rules were made to be broken," I said. I then picked up Rose and put her on the couch. The next thing we knew... somehow, Rose turned to a wild dog and started going crazy!
. . .
She started wrecking everything! "Maybe putting her on the couch was a bad idea," I said.
"If Anna sees her like this... we are so dead," says Adam.
"I don't think Anna will be that merciful," I said, "we gotta catch her!"
. . .
Rose was causing even more damage than I've ever done and that says something! We were chasing after her. I then grabbed her, and she bit my arm. "Joke's on you," I said, "I don't even know if I have rabies!"
Rose then ran.
. . .
We searched everywhere for her. "She could be anywhere," I said.
"She's in the garage," says Adam.
We then grabbed her. "What do we do," I asked.
"If putting her on the couch made her act this way... then maybe putting her back on her special pillow can turn her back to normal," Adam suggests.
"Worth a shot," I said.
. . .
We then put Rose on the pillow and she's back to normal. "We better clean all this up," I said.
. . .
Anna came to pick up Rose. "Where ees my leettle Rahsie," asks Anna. Rose then ran to her. "Oh, ahnd were you good... whaht ahm I saying? You ahre ahlways so well behahved!"
"Unless you put her on a couch," says Adam.
"Whaht ahre you tahlkeeng ahbout?"
"Anna... does Rose have a tendency to go crazy if... you change where she sits," I asked.
"I would naht know, she nevair seets ahnywhere but hair special peellow!"
We then looked at each other. "So... how'd it go with John," I asked.
"I dumped hees sahrry butt! When I mentioned my Rahse, he showed deesgust! Turns out, he ees ahn ahneemahl hahtair! Ahnyway, I ahppreciate ziss so much, Dahnnie!" She then kissed me and left with Rose.
"Hear that," I asked, "she hates animal haters! I have a chance! Now, let's watch Captain Blasto!"
In the next chapter, Donnie and friends meet the Wild Grinders.
