As Batman, Penny, and Ben made their way to the Batcave, Oracle needed to ask something.
"What's the deal with Dead Man's Point? It's been a favorite suicide location on Arkham Island for hundreds of years."
"Geez, is Arkham really that terrible?" Ben asked before catching himself. "On second thought, don't answer that question."
"I fear they'd rather die than face the likes of Joker, Scarecrow, and Killer Croc..." Penny frowned.
"Yeah, I know," Batman replied to Oracle. "I once saved an unfortunate inmate from leaping off into the rocks below. I found a cave entrance and over the years have moved a number of supplies here. It's a regular home away from home."
"Man, what next, do you have a Batcave on the moon or something?" Ben joked.
"No, but there is a Watchtower." Batman clarified.
"Oh god, I was just joking!"
"I sense some hostiles up ahead!" Penny noted.
The trio got themselves ready for another fight. Penny used the strings of Floating Array to clothesline the first thug while Batman delivered a spinning back punch, knocking the second one down as Ben built up compressed air in his hands before firing it like a shotgun, sending the last thug sprawling.
Continuing on, they finally reached Dead Man's Point. Penny looked over the side. Unlike the last time they jumped off a very high place, she couldn't see the bottom, only a lot of rocks and fog.
"Don't tell me we're gonna jump," Ben said.
"We are," Batman said simply as he walked over the edge and leaped over.
"Shall I carry you?" Penny offered.
"Yeah, but please go slow, I'm afraid of heights!"
Penny then picked up Ben in her arms, surprising the young man with how strong she was despite her delicate appearance. Then again, he did see her kick Bane's ass, so this didn't seem too far-fetched in hindsight.
Penny and Ben flew to where Batman had landed before walking deeper into the cave. Ben blushed slightly as Penny set him back down on his feet when they approached a wall.
"Identity confirmed. Disabling countermeasures. Security deactivated." A female robotic voice said after scanning Batman.
Penny and Ben watched as the wall in front of them came down to reveal a new pathway behind it. They walked down a metal walkway, through a small underground waterfall, and into a narrow, hexagonal walkway.
"On!"
With that announcement from Batman, several lights shine down on a series of large platforms in the center of the cave. He then broke into a sprint leaped forward off the ledge and glided onto the largest platform in the very center. Penny flew down with her jet boots while Ben teleported over.
As Ben and Penny looked around, admiring the Batcave, Batman walked up to a large computer array and sat down, communicating with Oracle while looking over what Dr. Young had been working on.
"Dr. Young was heading up a project. It was big, lots of external funding. Here are the last notes she filed. I can't make sense of it. What does it mean?" Oracle asked.
"Looks like she was experimenting on the Arkham patients," Batman noted as he looked over the data. "This new chemical only barely resembles the original Venom compound."
"Fascinating..." Penny said as she leaned over to see what Batman was looking at.
"There are a number of changes that appear to amplify the strength of the drug. Multiple references to a Titan formula. Even a small amount could trigger a Venom-like transformation, eliminating the need for the storage tank Bane requires."
"So that means anyone can be like Bane with this Titan?" Ben asked. "Geez, that's scary to think about..."
"That monster the Joker sent at us back in the holding cells!" Penny realized.
It was then Batman noticed something troubling. "Hang on. These notes aren't complete. The formula is missing! That must be the secret Dr. Young is hiding. If Joker gets his hands on this, he will create an army of a thousand Banes."
"And ONE Bane is bad enough!" Ben gulped.
"My God! Is Joker crazy enough to do that?!" Oracle asked, before sighing at her own question. "What am I saying? You've got to stop him!"
"We will, Friend Oracle!" Penny said firmly.
Batman got up and then headed to a case, opening it up and taking out a claw apparatus before holstering it in his utility belt. He then turned to Ben and went to another case, getting some things before handing them to the boy.
"Here, take this armor as well as these goggles. They'll allow you to use Detective Vision like what I have built in my cowl."
Ben felt around before finding a button on the side of his goggles and tapping it, watching in amazement as everything turned a dark blue color, and the environment was far duller than it had been. He could also see Batman's X-Ray.
"Damn, this is...so cool!"
"You certainly look superhero ready!" Penny noted as Ben smiled bashfully at the praise.
Batman used his Batclaw to pull down a stack of boxes blocking the way before doing the same to a grate-covered vent, allowing the trio to leave the Batcave and sneak back into the Asylum.
"This is gonna be something else, I tell you what!" Ben said.
"So this is what Ruby's comics are like in real life!" Penny excitedly noted.
"This isn't a game, you two. You need to keep focused." Batman warned them sternly.
The reason Batman didn't give any gadgets to Penny is because she's already decked out like a small army and Ben just needed the armor and Detective Vision, he has his elemental powers to work as his gadgets.
Terribly sorry for the short-ass chapter! I'm sure the next one will be much longer!
