"You made him squeal like a Spoink!" A child laughs, making many heads turn. Many of the adults shake their head in amusement, some secretly in disgust. The group of five boys were cheering, as they walked towards the park, carrying balls and bats in hand, with some of their knuckles covered in blood.
These five children were the local bullies of Surreydawn Town, and were also the golden children, all because of one child. His name was Dudley Dursley and in his parents' mind there was no better child than him. He taking after his father, with his mother blond locks and blue eyes, was the apple of their eye, so if they turn to look the other way of his more violent tendencies like shaking down younger children for their lunch money or more valuable items that his beady little eyes zone in on… well so be it.
Though one person did not.
"Did he really deserve that broken nose," their heads snap, and three of the boys back away from the little girl that glared at them. The girl was different from the other children, with dark tan skin that made her green eyes pop from behind glasses that that were cracked and wrapped together with tape in the middle. She was quite small for her age, wearing clothes that hardly fit her, the shoulder of her shirt slipping off a bit. What truly made her different from the other children, was the lion ears on top of her head which was paired of with a long lion tail with a tuft of black fur at the end.
"Ricky deserve it beast," Dudley snap, grinning a bit, his kind doesn't belong here, neither do you in fact. But my parents are force to keep you, like some sort of leech,"
The so called beast rolled her eyes, "Dudley if I could, I would leave right now and never return," she crosses her arms over her chest, frowning, "Honestly that is my plan when I turn eleven. To leave and never return,"
"You think Mum and Dad would pay for you to start a journey?" Dudley sneers, grinning, "Aunt Marge promise me a good Pokémon, one from her prize Granbull Ripper. What are you going to get Potter?"
Aria Potter frowns, "I figure out something. It won't be hard to get some cash and grab a Pokeball…" she shakes her head, shrugging her shoulders, "Anyway… I'm going to catch some zs. See ya… Duddykins," she grins as her cousin's face grows red but spins on her heel to head to some of the bushes to hide away.
But the sound of running footsteps made her turn, to see Dudley throwing his large fist into her face she stood her ground, lips curled to show sharp fangs before Dudley takes a step back, holding his wrist in pain at the two tiny bite marks in his hands, "You pay for that Potter! I'm telling Dad!" He threaten before he turns around and waddling away.
Aria watches, standing there as her cousin runs away, followed by his friends before she sighs, "you didn't have to do that Ruggie. I can take care of myself,"
"Hehehe," green eyes shine at her in mischeilf and Aria couldn't help but smile back.
Now though, Aria wasn't smiling as sat on the swing, tears streaming down her face as she grips the chain. "He's gone...he's gone and he's never coming back," she thought, closing her eyes tightly, feeling more tears erupting from her eyes as her heart broke. Her little Ruggie...her only friend...had been taken by Dudley...and there was nothing she could do about it.
"He caught Ruggie fair and square...you knew this was going to happen. Ruggie wasn't even your own Pokemon, he was wild Pokemon," Aria thought, wiping her face. But she couldn't help but feel like her heart had been stab as Dudley showed her the Pokemon he had caught with Crusher, the Snubbull Aunt Marge gave him. The cruel smile on his face as he mocked her, "Oh was this the Pokemon you had befirended and wanted as your partner," and the sadness on Ruggie's face as he looked up at her, his green eyes begging for forgiveness.
She shakes her head, pushing herself off the swing, "Stop it...stop being lazy...Ruggie wouldn't want this. Just...just because we can't be together, that he can't be on my team doesn't mean I can drop all our plans off the face of a hat," she frowns a bit, wondering if she had said that wrong before she once more shakes her head. Tail swaying behind, she went to a large oak tree and stuck her hand in the hollow of it, standing on her tiptoes because she was small before grinning as she pulled out a batter rucksack, one of Dudley's old ones that was still in pretty good shape. "Ok...first stop is Wishdream City...get to the Everstar League building there...take the test to get an license for Pokemon training...and then do the Gym challenge," she whispers throwing her shack over her back, gripping the straps of her bag tightly.
"I should be fine in traveling through the Creeping Woods to get there...there is only some Bug type Pokemon and a few birds like Spearow, which if I ignore I should be fine," she trails off but then blinks as she noticed that...she wasn't alone.
There, standing at the front of the gate of the park, was a woman with her black hair tied in a tight bun wearing a green turtleneck shirt with a black skirt that went to her knees. Over it, she wore a white labcoat. Her light green eyes, shimmer with tears as they blink behind square spectacles, "Miss Potter?" she chokes out.
Aria growls a bit, "Yeah..but what does it matter? What do you want with me?"
The woman takes a deep breath, her green narrowed, before she shakes her head, "Miss Potter, I am Professor McGonagall from Hogwarts Academy," Aria blinks at that, wondering why there was a Professor from one of the best Trainer schools in all the regions were here, in Surreydawn. "I am here to wonder why we have not heard back from you?"
"Heard back...what do you mean?" the Professor must be mistaken, "I never heard from Hogwarts,"
"We sent over three letters," Professor McGonagall stated, an eyebrow raised, "Are you telling me you have not seen a single one?"
"No ma'am," Aria shakes her head, "But given my relatives," she shrugs her shoulders, before she tilts her head, "I'm more curious about why Hogwarts is sending me a letter. I never did the Scholarship exams, the schools in Surreydawn Town don't give out those exams." she pointed out. Surreydawn was founded by people who hated the higher ups of soceity, who hated the gym leaders and those who went to Trainer schools. "Hard work...that is how you get anywhere," her Uncle Vernon had said to Dudley one time, "Those who go to those fancy pansy schools...they are cheaters, the whole lot of them. Wouldn't know the meaning of true hard work if it hit them in the face,"
Professor McGonagall lips thin, and her eyes burn with such fierecenss, "Miss Potter...the reason why Hogwarts is sending you a letter is because your father placed your name down on the admistion list the very day you were born,"
Aria stares in confusion, "My father was a drunk who got my mother killed in a car crash...how in the name of Arceus did he signed me up for Hogwarts?"
Professor McGonagall's sputters of rage just made Aria even more confused.
"Now, Miss Potter, I want you to ignore everything your aunt and uncle had said about your parents," Aria looked up at Professor McGonagall as she places down a bowl filled with Penne Vodka with a piece of garlic bread, "I do believe that whatever they told you were nothing more than lies," she sighs, sitting down in front of Aria. After an hour of convincing her, and the promise of food, the two of them were waiting at a cafe near the trainstation, waiting for the train to take them to Wishdream City. She gestures for Aria to eat, who eyes her a bit before carefully grabbing the fork, and sniffing the food, took a bite. "The reason why your father was able to pay for tuition is because he is … was James Potter, of the Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter, Gym Leader of Priderock City,"
Aria chokes on the bite of her food, looking up at Professor McGonagall with wide eyes. "Well…" she chokes out, grabbing the bottle of water and taking a gulp, "That explains so much about why my Aunt and Uncle hate me…" Aria didn't know much about Gym Leaders really, just that the title is pass down from parent to child and that her Uncle complain that Gym Leaders weren't really strong, just weak [eople who ride the coattails of those who came before him. She had heard many times, from her cupboard, her uncle complaining that they should have a tournament to decied a new gym leader after the old one retires, to allow the people who actually work hard for their goals to be gym leaders...Aria really didn't understand his hate for them, since he hardly work a day in his life. There were many times she had heard that her Uncle could have gotten a promotion, but had always turned it down because he liked how his life is going and didn't want to change it.
Professor McGonagall nodded her head, "Yes, the Potters have been gym leaders of Priderock City for many generations. Your father, and his father before him, they all have taken the mantle, and all have gone to Hogwarts Academy," she sighs, "If it wasn't for the war...then your father will be handing this to you," she pulls out a white envelope, and handed it to Aria. She stared at it, with a frown on her face. It really was a letter for her, the address written so plainly in green ink was proof that it wasn't a mistake.
Miss. A. Potter
4 Privet Drive
Little Wingull Street
Surreydawn Town
Turning the envelope over, Aria saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms: a Solgaleo, a Rayquaza, a Galarian Articuno and a Terrakion surrounding a large letter H. "Your father was so proud when he came to Night Raven Isle to enroll you," Professor McGonagall shook her head, "Almost tripped and fell on his face but he didn't care...he was so happy...so was your mother, her eyes lit up whenever she got the chance to talk about you," she sighs, closing her eyes, "You must understand Miss Potter… your parents had love you so very much, and if things were different...when you were born, Grimm has been in a civil war,"
"A civil war?" Aria repeated, food all but forgotten.
"Not all people are good Miss Potter…" Professor McGonagall's press her lips in a thin line, "Long before you were born, and even when your parents were children, a group calling themselves Team Purity began to rise. They...had this belief that only those who had come from the old families should be allowed to be trainers, let alone be allowed to even be near Pokemon. That those who families who didn't have a history of educated trainers are unfit for Pokemon," the Professor's light green eyes shone in disgust, "Its wrong, so very much wrong. They said that only because they want to be the only people to have Pokemon, seeing these wonderful creatures as tools for their own gain...forgetting at one point, that their families had to start from somewhere...but unfortuently, many belived in their rubbish, and war was fought on the lands of Grimm for eleven years. James and Lily, your parents, fought against Team Purity on the frontlines," and at this Professor McGonagall swallows, "And by doing so...they brough the attention of the leader of Team Purity...Voldemort,"
"Voldemort?" Aria frowns at this before scoffing, "That's not a real name,"
"No...no it isn't," Professor McGonagall agreed, "But its the name that he gave out when he started his compaign… though these days, people have been calling him You-Know-Who, or He-Who-Must-Not be-Name..twenty years ago he started gathering followers and he got them too. Some because they belived what he was saying, some because they were afraid for their families because he was blackmailing them, some because they wanted a bit of his power. Those eleven years were terrible Miss. Potter, and anyone who stood up against him...well they usually ended up dead...but not your parents," Professor McGongall smiles, "Your parents fought against him three times, and survived those three encounters, and when they had you...it gave people so much hope, so much hope that more people started to fight back. Voldemort...he didn't like that. He...I'm sorry to say Miss. Potter but Team Purity almost won...Voldemort was almost close to winning...and he didn't need a rebellion...so he started hunting them down," when Professor McGonagall looked down, grabbing her hands together and squeezing them, Aria couldn't help but feel dread at this.
"Your parents hid, they were more concern about your saftey than keeping up the fight...but he found them...on Hallow's Night when the veil to the Distoration World is thin enough for spirits to visit the living world...he came to your parents house," she pulls out a handkerchief and wipes her eyes, "Your father, it is told fought against him...but Voldemort's Pokemon were too strong...once he was finished with your Father, Voldemort came after your mother and her...Lily...your brave wonderful mother, stood without your father by her side in front of you, to protect you...and with her Pokemon...she won," Aria's ears twitched at that, and Professor McGonagall's eyes shone in pride, "Your mother, a woman from a family who had never took the path of a trainer, fought against Voldemort and ended him, once and for all. By the time people came to your house...your mother had already departed but she made sure she took Voldemort with her. Thanks to her sacrifice, Team Purity fell apart, due to infighting about who would be the next leader, it was easy to start rounding them up and arresting them. But after that night, people spoke about your mother and you differently...while they do talk about your father respectlfully and mourn his lost...your mother...she became known as the Savoir of Grimm and with you being the only surviour...you became known as the Girl-Who-Lived,"
Aria was silent, her eyes burning with tears, but she quickly wipes them, "Then...they why was I the Durselys...why wasn't I given to someone else," "If Aunt Petunia really hated mum, then mum must have known...and because I'm supposedly a daughter to a Gym Leader...than there must have been a will or something," she really hope that her mum didn't actally expected her Aunt to raise her…
Professor McGonagall sighs, her shoulders slumping, "I don't know the true reason… the Headmaster, Professor Dumbledore was the one to place you here. I had told him, and warned him that Lily and Petunia relationship had strained over the years, that the two sisters have hated each other but he would not listen to a word I said. The people who your parents had chosen to be your guardians if anything happen to you...two of them were hospitalized, they couldn't take care of their son, let alone another child...another was had been killed a few days after your parents' death...another was learned to be a traitor and was thrown into Azkaban. The last one is still around, and I know he all but beg to Dumbledore to allow him to take you in...but the Headmaster believed that it would be the best place to hide you. It was...well known about how your mother and aunt felt for each other, so nobody thought you would ever be sent there,"
"Yeah...that worked out," Aria mutters as she tears open the envelope before pulling out the letter:

Aria was silent as she place down the letter, a frown on her face, "Well...I guess going to Hogwarts than roughing it up on a journey…" she mutters to herself. She looks up at Professor McGonagall, "So...how do pay for all of this...like I know you said my dad enrolled me but I don't have the money he had,"
"Our first stop is to Wishdream City...there we will be heading to Gringotts, where we will be getting the Hogwarts Rotomphone," and with that the sound of a train was heard, "And I think that is our train, we better be off now,"
Aria stares, turning her head back to Surreydawn, wondering if she really was leaving this place behind. Leaving behind the screams and being degraded at, being denied love because in her Aunt and Uncle's eyes she was unloved...except for one person...but he had been taken from her. With narrowed eyes, she pushes herself out of her chair, and followed after Professor McGonagall.
Not once looking back.
So first chapter is up and at them...and I kinda lie about having Pokemon being the only thing replacing Magic...Aura is back in this but it won't be like alchemy...its definitely not like magic but it is great inspired by Twisted Wonderland...there will be more explanation in later chapters, but I got this idea from a reviewer on my fanfiction account about maybe making this a twisted wonderland crossover...and its not, but its greatly inspired by it...alongside with Kingdom hearts...going with Aria technically being base of Leona Kingscholar and Scar though a good Scar...listen I just like writing nonhuman characters and Aria having a lion tail and ears is adorable!
Anyway Aria in this was still raised by her aunt and uncle, reasoning behind is, because that's a big thing in Harry's life...and I want Aria to feel like Harry...a Harry that is hurt and feels abandoned, but don't worry she wont be going back to the Dursleys ever again...will she meet them years later? Yes but for now, she won't be seeing them.
Anyway I hope you all enjoy this, please leave a comment.
