Chapter 4: Letting it Out

Spider-Man recovered more tech and woke up the next morning with the laptop he found. Peter managed to access it and began his research. With it, he can look up anything about anyone in the world. He started by putting in Carrie's name. To his surprise, he found little about her.

Full name Carietta Naomi White, she was born on September 21, 2005, in Chamberlain. She lives with her mother, Margaret, and her father, Ralph, died before Carrie was born in a construction accident. She was homeschooled until she reached 7th grade when the state forced her mother to enroll her in public school. Her best classes are English and art, while gym was her weakest.

Peter then looked up her medical records, and to his shock, found none. There was no record of any appointments made or about getting any of her shots.

"That's not good.", he said to himself.

She didn't have any social media presence and when he reached for any disciplinary actions, there were a lot, and we're talking a lot of reports of bullying against her. Peter got the names of all the girls on the reports and saw that the name that popped up the most was Christine Hargensen. When he couldn't find more about Carrie, he moved on to Chris.

Christine Hargensen was born on August 9, 2005, in Chamberlain. Her mother is a dress designer, and her father is a lawyer, and a very influential one at that too. To his shock and disgust, he saw that Chris was served detention up to 70 times throughout her time in school and skipped most of them. Her biggest offense was when she stuffed firecrackers in some girl's shoe and this led to two of the girl's toes being blown off.

"Sorry Cap, but what the absolute fuck is wrong with her?!"

He then saw her social media posts. Lately, most of them is of her complaining about getting banned from prom and insisting she did nothing wrong and the people at the school are idiots. Peter then saw her YouTube page. Most of her videos are about fashion and makeup, but then he found an unlisted one.

The thumbnail was completely greyed out and the video was labeled: carriewhite.

His mind told him not to click it, but he did anyway, and instantly regretted it.

It showed Carrie on the floor with only a towel covering her. He saw blotches of red on the towel and her hands. In the background was the sound of numerous girls chanting, "Plug it up!" as she was screaming. The girls were also throwing things at her, but Peter couldn't make out what they were throwing at her because of the up-close shot on Carrie.

Peter slammed the laptop close and was seething with anger. The last time he felt an anger close to this was when... when he confronted Uncle Ben's killer. He wished he could reach into the screen and make everyone stop.

"What... the hell... is wrong with them?", he seethed.

After taking several breaths, he opened the computer again, but this time, he played the video without sound. At one point, the girl who filmed this, Chris, flips the angle and showed herself and the others who were mocking Carrie, all laughing and smiling like what they were doing was no big deal.

"Gotcha."

He took a screenshot of the shot and then read about the incident according to school officials. From what the report said, Carrie had her first period as she showered, but she believed she was bleeding to death as her mother never told her anything about menstrual periods. She was then saved by one Rita Desjardin, a gym teacher that was hired at the beginning of the school year.

"God..."

Peter was just plain speechless. He had experienced bullying throughout his years in school, but never to this extreme. Flash and his buddies were never this... sadistic or evil at any point, not even close. And this Chris girl and her friends just did whatever they wanted at will without facing any consequences whatsoever.

"That's gotta change... and it will. Now, who are all of you?", he said as he looked at the screenshot of the girls.

He got their names and looked through their social media posts and whatever else he could find. Most of them put negative messages about Carrie and mocked her in their posts. The only one of them that didn't say anything about her was named Sue Snell, while Tina Blake was almost as bad as Chris' posts about Carrie. Many of them have also gotten detention or some other disciplinary action taken against them for their treatment of their peers, but have always gotten off light, probably because of Chris' father.

"Run to dear old dad and all your troubles disappear. I'll put an end to that one way or another.", Peter said to himself.

He decided to look up John Hargensen, Chris' dad, and saw that he's got lots of skeletons in his closet; bribes, blackmail, and countless other things that were written off due to his influence and power.

John could probably have her daughter's boyfriend and his buddies out of jail in no time with what he's got and said influence. The web-head then looked for more incriminating evidence he can find to get John into trouble, maybe enough to make an arrest. He even found that John tried to get Chris' prom privileges back after she refused to serve the punishment Miss Desjardin gave them, but was unsuccessful.

"Good."

The web head then found additional information about everyone he searched.

"Man, there's a lot of info in here on everyone. It's gonna take me a while to go through it all. I'll just save what I've got for now and go on my way."

He transferred all the info he had onto his phone and suited up again. He looked at the time in his phone and it read 11:47 A.M. He then leapt through the window and swung off into the town.

Spider-Man's day went smoothly as he found more lost tech and stopped a few crimes as well. While he still had no leads on Vulture or Shocker, he was confident that with the tech he's found so far, he'd be closer in finding them. Before he knew it, it was past 1:30 in the afternoon and he decided to drop by the school, perching himself in the same spot as yesterday.

"I wonder how Carrie's doing.", he wondered as he looked down at the fields.

He saw some of the girls from the video playing soccer and scowled under his mask. Seeing them smiling and laughing after what they've done to her made him angry. He swore things will change and he'll be damned if they didn't.

His thoughts were interrupted when a softball flew past him. He caught it as it came down and saw that a piece of paper was wrapped around it. He unwrapped it and read the note.

Look down. Can we talk?

"What the...?"

He did what the note said and saw a red headed woman waving at him. He hesitantly waved back before she motioned for him to come down.

"Okay..."

He leapt down and stood face-to-face with her.

"Well, that's one way to get my attention.", he quipped as he tossed the ball back.

"I hoped it did, my arm's killing me now though. I saw you up there and I wrote that as fast as I could and wrapped it in that ball.", the woman said as she rubbed her right arm.

"So... who are you and what's with this?", Spider-Man asked as he held the paper.

The woman took a deep breath.

"My name is Rita Desjardin and I... I wanted to talk to you about something.", the now-named Rita said.

"Alright, what is it?"

"It's... it's about Carrie White. I saw you with her yesterday."

"Oh, her? She's nice, really nice. Ten out of ten, would meet and talk to again."

Rita chuckled.

"I was hoping you'd say that.", she said. "You see, she's... she's had it rough, to say the least."

'Yeah, I read her file.', Spider-Man thought as Rita continued.

"I don't know if you have the time considering you're most likely in town for a huge and no doubt complicated reason, but if you get the chance, could you... could you maybe, I don't know, maybe hang out with her a bit? You see, she doesn't really have anyone to talk to here and whenever someone does do that, it's followed by a big joke someone planned. I talk to her every chance I get, but there's only so much I can do. It's awful, really."

"Why do they treat her the way they do?", Spider-Man asked.

"Well, the biggest reason, if you can even call it that, is that her mother is... to put it very lightly, nuts. Margaret, her name is. Very religious that woman and she's told everyone they're going to hell countless times and calling people sinners and whatnot. Practically everyone here uses her as ammunition to target Carrie."

"Yikes. Still, that's no reason to bully her or anyone. You're right about me being here for a reason, but I'll do it. One hundred percent, I'll do it."

Rita smiled.

"Thank you so much. By the way, how'd you meet her? Just wondering.", she asked.

"Oh, some guys were giving her a hard time. She won't have to worry about them for a while."

"Well, thank you for helping her. I don't think I've ever heard her so happy before until yesterday."

"Yeah, I think I'm a bit deaf on my left ear now, but hey, if she's happy then it was worth it. By the way, nice throw. I'm surprised it made it up there.", Spider-Man complimented.

"Me too. I was afraid someone might see me and ask what I'm doing."

"You played softball in high school?"

"No, I tried out but didn't make it. I did archery, though. Won first place in state competition, it's how I got this.", Rita said, motioning to her silver whistle that's hanging around her neck.

"Should Hawkeye be worried?", Spider-Man jokingly asked.

Rita smirked.

"Maybe.", she said before the two shared a laugh. "No, not really. I haven't done that since... oh wow, I don't remember. Maybe since high school. I think I left all my archery equipment at my mother's house in Chester's Mill when I moved out. Anyway, I have to go now before someone looks for me. It was real nice talking to you, Spider-Man."

"You too, Rita. Take care, alright?"

He turned back and leapt into the air before swinging away. Rita looks at the softball with a look of satisfaction before making her way back to her students.

'That Coach Flagg never liked me. He was pretty creepy too, now that I think about it. Oh well, things turned out alright in the end. I wonder if Mom still has my archery gear.'

Spider-Man decided to take things easy today and waited for the school day to end to see Carrie again. He had been thinking about her for most of the day since his talk with Rita. He remembered the sound of Carrie's laugh and the look of awe when they talked yesterday and couldn't imagine anyone doing anything horrible to her.

She's so shy and innocent, one could call it downright adorable. He could imagine the Avengers or X-Men be overprotective of her. It honestly made him chuckle imagining even the toughest members of both groups like Hulk and Wolverine be protective of her.

He then saw a large swarm of students start to leave and kept an eye out for the girl. It took a while, but he finally saw her leave as the crowd cleared out. He followed her for a bit and kept a look out for trouble at the same time. When they were far enough away, he swung to the top of a light pole near her so she can see him.

When she saw him, she gasped.

"Hello, me again.", he casually said.

"H-Hi.", Carrie replied.

"How was your day?", Spider-Man then asked.

"U-Uh, g-good, actually. W-What are you d-doing here?"

"Eh, just hanging around. I was looking for you, actually."

Carrie looked at him in surprise.

"R-Really? Why?", she asked.

"Because I want to. I had a lot of fun hanging out with you yesterday, and I figured that we could, you know, hang out again. What do you say?"

After yesterday, Carrie didn't expect to see or talk to him again. Now he wants to be with her? This was almost too good to be true, yet this was really happening.

"O-Okay, sure.", she said.

"Great. I found this place not too far from here that we can talk. You won't have to worry about anyone watching or anything like that.", he said as he leapt down.

She did what she did yesterday to hold onto him.

"Ready?", Spider-Man asked.

She nodded and he fired a web before swinging away.

The spot Spider-Man chose was a recently abandoned warehouse he found tech in on the southeastern side of Chamberlain. No doubt Toomes and Schultz used this place for a bit before quickly moving out. Since it was pretty isolated but still close to the town, he figured this would be a good enough spot for them to talk.

He'd go for a building rooftop, but he didn't know if she was afraid of heights and, considering the size of the town, there weren't any tall enough buildings he could use without someone seeing them.

"Here we are.", he said as they landed. "I know it's not a conventional place to hang out in, but in a small town like this, the options are very limited."

Despite the somewhat creepy look of the place, she felt comfortable knowing that no one will see them here.

"So, anything that's on your mind, go ahead and ask.", he said.

"Anything?", she asked.

"Anything. Go for it.", he assured her.

"O-Oh, okay. Is it true that a spider bite gave you your powers?", she then asked.

He nodded.

"Yep. I was on a school trip to an Oscorp lab and out of nowhere, one bit me right on my hand. I thought nothing of it first until a few days later when I noticed some big... changes.", he said.

"Like...?"

"Well, I didn't need my glasses anymore and I found myself being more agile and aware of my surroundings more than ever. Plus, I even grew some muscles and a six-pack to boot. Then, I found out I could do this.", the web head said as he stuck to a wall. "You have no idea how freaked out I was when I realized I could do this."

Carrie giggled, imagining his reaction when that happened.

"Your webs; was that because of the bite too?", she then asked.

He leapt back down to stand on his feet again.

"No, I make those in a lab and put them in these.", he said as he showed her the Web Shooters and cartridges. "It would've been nice if the webs came with the powers, though. Would've saved me the hassle."

"It does sound time consuming."

"Don't get me started on it.", Spider-Man groaned out. "I have created different types of webs to use, though."

"Like what?", Carrie asked.

"Well, I have these Electric Webs that I just made about a month ago. It'll send enough high voltage to knock out some thugs and the electricity can even spread to other enemies if they're close enough."

"Wow, that's impressive. What else do you have?", Carrie then asked.

"I have this Trip Mine that would shoot out a thick web at anyone that trips its motion sensor. It's great for stealth. I have a bunch of others, but I don't have them with me."

"Why not?"

"Long story short; I left in a rush and didn't equip them for my latest outing, so all I have are the Electric Webs, and even then, I don't have a lot left of them. I only have two or three left.", he said.

"Can't you make any more?"

"I don't have the necessary parts. Even if I did have them, it'll take time to perfect them, so regular and Electric Webs are what I have for now. Still, they get the job done.", Spider-Man said with a nod.

Carrie nodded as well with a small smile.

"Okay...", she then said, trying to think of another question. "What are some of the craziest villains you've ever fought?"

"Oh, wow, that's a good one. I fought... a guy with indestructible skin calling himself Tombstone a few times, that's one. There's a mobster guy with a metal forehead, a guy with a fishbowl for a head that uses illusions, a crime Kingpin with a capital K and... a silver haired mercenary and her goon- I mean, soldiers.", he chronicled.

Carrie was speechless. How he managed to face them and defeat them all, she doesn't know, but it didn't really matter to her.

"Wow...", was all she could say.

"Yeah, and if that wasn't enough, there's two others in this town. One with a metal vulture suit and one with shock gauntlets. You wouldn't happen to see either of them around, have you?", Spider-Man asked.

She shook her head and he sighed.

"It's why I'm here in Chamberlain, to find them before they do anything big or escape. Luckily for me, the town is on full alert for these guys, so they won't be able to get out without making noise. Be careful out there, alright? I don't want you to get hurt or killed.", he instructed.

She nodded.

"Got it.", she said. "How did that happen? All of you being here, I mean."

Spider-Man sighed before telling her how they came to Chamberlain and his efforts to look for the criminal duo. Carrie hung onto every detail he mentioned about the incident that led them here.

"So, yeah, that's what happened.", he said when he finished.

"That must have been intense. Just the mere thought of suddenly being teleported somewhere else is just... frightening.", Carrie replied.

"It was. For a moment, I thought I was in another reality. That would've been really intense.", he said. "Hey, mind if I ask you something?"

"Oh, sure."

He knew it might take a while for her to open up even a little bit, but he felt that he still had to try to get her to open up a bit.

"Could you... tell me a bit about yourself? I want to get to know you.", he said.

Carrie was surprised at him asking this. Only one other person had asked her that and it was Miss Desjardin. Even then, she didn't tell her too much about herself when she asked.

"O-Oh, uh, o-okay.", she said, scratching her head. "Well... my favorite subject is English, I know how to sow, and I also like to read a lot."

"What stuff do you like reading?", Spider-Man replied.

"I like a lot of things, mostly mystery or even horror. Lately, I've been reading this book called Needful Things. I like it."

"So, you're a Stephen King fan? I like his stuff."

"Me too, just don't tell mama about this."

He noticed how nervous she was when mentioning her. He's only heard about Margaret from what Rita told him, but he had a feeling that she's more notorious than what he knows. Just thinking about her made him shiver, and he doesn't even know what she looks like.

"She doesn't allow you to read that stuff?", he carefully asked.

"No, never.", she said, sighing. "I just wished she'd let me be normal for once. Hopefully, prom will make me feel like that for at least a little bit."

"Oh, you're going to prom? That's great! Who's the lucky guy?"

Carrie blushed a little bit.

"His name is Tommy Ross. He's very popular at school and he's on the lacrosse team.", she replies.

"Really? That's great, Carrie. You're going to have a great time there, I know it. I did when I went to mine."

Carrie smiled and, in her head, wondered who was the one fortunate enough to go to prom with Spider-Man.

"Yeah, I even bought some cloth to make a dress. I'm almost done with it."

"Oh yeah, you said you know how to sew, didn't you? I had to learn by myself when I made my suit. I think I went through four other versions of it until I came up with this. If I had your help back then, I would've saved a lot of time and money on them.", he commented.

She giggled, imagining him struggle working on a sewing machine and messing up the moment he thinks he's got the hang of it.

"Well, it looks good.", she said, motioning to his suit.

"Thanks.", he said.

He had to keep the charade up that he didn't know anything about her, so he then asked, "What about friends?"

Carrie sighed, and said, "I don't... really have any. Miss Desjardin, I guess, but other than that, no one."

"And she is...?"

"O-Oh, my gym teacher. She's really nice.", Carrie said before sighing again. "I just... no, nevermind."

"What is it?", Spider-Man asked.

"It's nothing.", she insisted.

"Carrie, whatever you want to say, I'll listen. Everything that's been said in here stays here, alright?", he assured her.

With everything that's been going on, she figured that maybe it wouldn't hurt to tell him. She felt secure whenever she talked to him, so she decided to let it out.

Sighing, she said, "Well, I just want people to see me as... normal and have friends of my own and all that. But ever since I could remember, people call me a freak or crazy or stupid or something else right to my face. Not once has someone come up to me, ask me how my day is, and not follow it up with a joke or prank. I haven't done anything to anyone and they treat me like I'm a plague or something!"

Peter was taken aback by the rising tone in her voice. This was no doubt the first time she had ever been allowed to let out her frustrations about what she goes through every day. He could see her eyes, fiery with anger, turn puffy, but she refused to let any tears fall.

While she went off about her struggles, Spider-man started to wonder... why was his Spider-Sense starting to tingle ever so slightly?

Carrie continued, "When I was seven, I went to a summer camp and on one of my first days there, you know what they tried to do to me? They tried to drown me! Seriously! They hated me that much back then and they still do now! I just want to be treated like a normal human being, is that too much to ask for?!"

Spider-Man then noticed some of the tools on a table nearby slightly rattle as well as the table itself and a few signs on the walls. His Spider-Sense's tingle grew, and it rapidly began to alert him of danger. His eyes darted everywhere to see where the danger was coming from, but it was at its strongest when he was looking at Carrie for whatever reason he couldn't understand.

"Carrie, something's-", he tried to say, but she kept going.

"It's the same damn thing every day! I hear them say things like "Oh look, there's Creepy Carrie" or chant "Scary Carrie! Scary Carrie!" Even little kids do that! It doesn't matter how many times I beg them to stop, they just keep doing that! The chanting, the rumors, the looks, the pointing and the laughing; every goddamn day I hear them, even in my head! For once, just once, why can't they... why can't they..."

Then, all hell broke loose.

"WHY CAN'T THEY SHUT THE FUCK UP?!"

Spider-Sense went off and a shockwave sent everything, including Spider-Man, flying. Tools, signs, metal bars, whatever was around them went flying. Spider-Man crashed into a metal beam, letting out a surprised scream and fall to the ground. Glass was flying everywhere, and he could hear the warehouse and its foundation violently creak and moan at this sudden display.

Then, as abrupt as it started, it ended.

He slowly got up, groaning and rubbing his back.

"Ugh... what... what was that? Carrie? Are you okay?", he asked.

He saw her standing where she was, eyes wide, shaking and tears falling.

"No... nonononono. T-That w-w-wasn't... oh God... w-w-what did I d-do?", he heard her say.

"Wait, you did this?", he asked, shocked.

Carrie wanted to run off, but her legs betrayed her and fell to her knees instead, holding her head in her hands and with tears streaming down her face. He slowly walked up to her with his hands up to try and assure her that he wasn't going to do anything. She looked up at him and was shocked when he knelt down and put a finger on her chin.

"Carrie, did you do that?", he softly asked.

She suddenly wrapped her arms around him in a hug, sobbing while doing so.

"I'm sorry... I-I'm so sorry.", she said.

"Hey, don't worry. I'm fine.", he said as he wrapped his arms around her.

For the next few minutes, he let her sob on his shoulder. Little by little, she began to quiet down before she managed to look at him in the eye again. He could see the regret and fear in them.

"So... you really did all that? If you did, that... that was really cool, I'm not gonna lie.", he then said.

Carrie was taken back by his answer, looking at him as if he was crazy.

"B-But I could've hurt you.", she said.

"Eh, I've faced a lot worse. Can I see it?"

"W-What?"

"What you did. I want to see it."

She couldn't believe it. She accidentally revealed her powers to him, nearly hurt him with them, and he still wanted to see what she can do? It was downright... baffling. She almost expected him to try and attack her, but he does this instead.

It made her feel... relieved, like the load on her shoulders got a bit lighter.

Carrie slowly got up, took a deep breath and stretched out her arms. The debris that got thrown around slowly and gently levitated upwards. The tools were put on a table neatly and the signs returned to where they were before.

"Wow.", was all Spider-Man could say.

Carrie slowly smiled as she heard this.

"Carrie, that was... amazing. When did you find out you can this?", he then asked.

"Not too long ago. Maybe... two weeks ago?", she said. "I don't know, lots of things have been going on. Lately, I've been researching everything I could on it. I can't say I got a lot out of it, though."

To demonstrate this, she reached into her backpack and pulled out several books on the topic, hands still lightly shaking from what happened.

"You really went all out on this, huh?", Spider-Man commented.

"Books, the internet, whatever I can find on it. I think it passed on from my dad and skipped mama before I got it."

"Does she know about you having powers?"

Carrie froze, before quietly saying, "Y-Yes." as she put the books away.

"Oh... and I assume it didn't go well?"

"No, no it didn't. We had an argument about me going to prom and... I snapped and that was when she found out. Called me a witch... among other things."

'Like a cancer...', she then thought.

"Damn, I'm sorry."

"It's... it's fine, really. I'm just glad it didn't get too intense. How... how many people do you know that can do this, anyway?", Carrie asked.

"Quite a few, actually. There's a woman named Wanda who also has telekinesis. There's her, Sue Storm and Jean Grey who also have that. It's not a common thing to have, but it's definitely not unheard of.", he said.

Carrie's heart swelled. If she met one of them, they could help her control her abilities better.

"Really? That's amazing.", she said. "Do you think they could help me with this?"

"I don't see why not, but they're all doing their own things right now. Wanda's with the X-Men, Sue with the Fantastic Four and Jean is also with the X-Men. Come to think of it, I haven't seen her in a while.", he replied.

"Oh...", Carrie said, disappointed.

"But...", he then said, getting her attention, "Even though I don't have mind bending powers like you, maybe I can help you out.", he offered.

Her eyes widened.

"R-Really?", she asked.

"Really. You've got something real special in you, Carrie. Who knows, maybe one day, you could be part of something much bigger than you could've ever imagined. What do you think?"

Countless thoughts ran through her head. So much so, that she felt like she was going to faint. Before meeting Spider-Man, she had thought about what she was going to do with her powers, but didn't imagine herself as becoming someone on his scale. Now with him offering her help with her powers, she began to think that maybe it could happen after all.

"Alright... deal.", she replied.

"Great! If you like, we could start tomorrow. I could set up a few things to help out."

Carrie nodded before saying, "I'd like that."

"Nice.", he said before taking out his phone and looking at the time. "Woah, we've been here for a long while. Time really flew, huh? Wanna stick around for a bit or do you wanna go home?"

Carrie pondered this. On one hand, mama would not be happy about her coming home late. On the other hand, talking with Spider-Man was a wonderful experience not a lot get to have. She could only imagine what other adventures he's been on with these groups he mentioned.

"I got time.", she said with a small smile on her face.

They talked for about an hour before he dropped Carrie off at home. Thankfully, mama hadn't come back yet, so she didn't have to worry about her. She and Spider-Man talked about the other groups of superheroes like the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four as well as him telling her about the crazy adventures he's had with them.

Her personal favorite was when he said that he once managed to convince a bank robber during a hostage situation that he can summon spiders. The robber got so freaked out, that he immediately gave up and begged Spider-Man not to summon them. She laughed hard when she heard it.

After finishing her homework, she lied down on her bed and reflected on one particular thing he said.

"You've got something real special in you, Carrie. Who knows, maybe one day, you could be part of something much bigger than you could've ever imagined."

"Much bigger, huh?", she said to herself.

While she had no idea how big things really can be in Spider-Man's world, the thought of being with him helping others was enough to give her hope for a future brighter than she previously imagined.

Smiling, she used her powers to lift up her bag and books, the lights flickering as she did this.

Later that night, Peter went back to the hotel room and dressed in a white shirt and blue pajama pants. Just before he could officially call it a night, he then heard his phone ring and found Nick Fury calling him.

"Fury.", he greeted.

"You got all the tech back?", he asked.

"I'm doing fine, thanks for asking.", Peter says, rolling his eyes. "I almost got it all, just a few more pieces left and then maybe I'll finally be able to find Vulture and Shocker."

"Good to know. I have to ask though, I found activity on a S.H.I.E.L.D laptop earlier today where you are and found searches of several people, but were mostly focused on someone in particular. Care to explain, Parker?"

He sighed. Really, he should've seen that coming, but the focus on looking into Carrie and the people that made her life miserable made him forget that since it was a S.H.I.E.L.D. laptop he was using to do this, they can look into what he was searching on it.

"It's complicated, Director Fury. She's been through a lot lately, and a lot of those people have put her through hell.", he started.

"Yeah, I saw. Just... awful.", he said in a subdued tone.

The way he said that surprised Peter as he had never heard Nick like that before.

"Anyway, she's... special. I don't want to get into too much detail, but I think with the right guidance, she could turn into something great."

"Is that so?"

"One hundred percent, no doubt in my mind."

Nick hummed and said, "I'm liking how this sounds, Parker. Perhaps when you've taken care of this situation, we'll see what she has to offer."

"Of course, you'll like her. I know it."

"I'll keep that in mind. Keep me posted.", Nick said before hanging up.

Peter huffed before lying on the bed.

He kept thinking back on his conversation with Carrie and the rollercoaster of a conversation they had. Sure, things got crazy when she inadvertently revealed her powers to him and nearly hurt him with them, but at the end of the day, they had fun together. He learned more about her, and she heard some of his stories with rapt attention and laughter when he told something funny that happened.

"How could anyone hurt someone like that?", he asked himself.

Things were going to change around here. Those girls will regret what they've done to her, he'll make sure.

Before dozing off, he got his phone and called Mary Jane.

"Hey, tiger.", she greeted.

"Hey, MJ. How'd your day go?"

"It went well. I dropped by Aunt May's today. She's doing better now that she knows you're alive."

"That's good to know. Thanks, MJ."

"No problem, tiger. What about you? How'd your day go?"

He let out a deep breath.

"Oh boy. It was... something else."
