Just a normal Saturday

The birds chirped in the beautiful Saturday afternoon breeze. Team RWBY found themselves walking the many pathways of Beacon's courtyard and surrounding footpaths. Currently they were making their way towards the cafeteria for a late lunch when they bumped into Team JNPR on the way.

"Hey there JNPR," Ruby waved, running up to the group. "We are heading to get some food, If you four would like to join?" She shot a look at Nora who already seemed to be bouncing at the mention of food.

Noticing the increasing excitement of his team member, Jaune sighed and agreed, after all he too was a bit peckish. Consolidating the two groups into a single one, they continued their march onward. But, whether they noticed it or not, the many sounds of birds around them had stopped. It was Blake who first noticed the unusual silence. Ren noticed her looking into the trees, also noticing the distinct lack of sounds.

Just before either was able to voice their concerns, a deafening noise ripped through the air from above the school drawing most people's attention. Hanging what must have been half a mile above the school stood what could only be described as a rift in space itself. Before they had time to comprehend this development an object came shooting through the rift. At first it was hard to make out but after fully exiting the rift it became clear it was a plane of some sort, and it was definitely not going to stay in the air long. Shortly after its exit, the rift slammed shut with another crash.

Already in motion the two teams ran in the direction of the falling craft, which was heading straight for the emerald forest. Keeping her eyes locked on the craft, Blake noticed a figure falling from it. At first she thought it was just debris, but after a second of falling it became clear it was a person. Realizing the weight of the situation she yelled.

"Weiss," Blake pointed to the falling figure. "I think that's the pilot, think you can catch him?"

"I wouldn't be the heir to the SDC if I couldn't do something as simple as this," Weiss said with a huff, planting her feet and pointing Myrtenaster towards the figure. "Now watch my expertise."

The group slowed as they watched the heirs' glyphs appearing in the air below the figure with the intent to slow them down gradually. However it almost seemed she had missed the placement of the first glyph and the figure fell past it. A gasp escaped Ruby's lips as the figure continued to fall. Weiss attempted to move the lower glyphs to be its path, but it seemed like she was always just a little off. Kicking back into high gear Ruby, Yang, And Pyrrha took off towards where they thought the figure was going to land to try and stop it from hitting the ground.

But the figure was falling too fast, they weren't going to make it. Pyrrha reached out with her semblance but there wasn't enough magnetic material for her to interact with. Watching in horror and defeat as the figure grew closer to the ground. Ruby sealed her eyes as the figure impacted the ground at the edge of the beacon courtyard upheaving a large area of dirt and concrete. Approaching the edge of the crater with baited breath Yang peered over the edge. As the dust began to settle, she could make out the figure in the center of the crater. A sigh of relief escaped her as she saw the figure begin to move. Yelling for help she hurried the rest of the way to the figure as they began to get up. Yang reached the figure just as they fully recovered to their feet. Now close enough to make out details more clearly, the figure appeared to be a human in some sort of high tech armor, or an unknown Atlas military robot.

"You sure you're good to stand up," Yang asked cautiously. "That was quite the fall, wasn't it?"

"Indeed," the figure responded. "Mind telling me where I am?"

Before Yang could answer, the rest of her team and team JNPR arrived at the crater. The figure looked to the edge of the crater noticing the new additions to their company. Noticing this Yang moved to put herself between the figure and her friends.

"No need to be afraid," The figure spoke, their helmet appearing to retract from around their head. "If I wanted to hurt you or your friends I would have already."

With the figure's face now visible, one of Yang's questions was answered. Before her stood a human. He stood about six feet tall, Yang guessed, but what drew her attention was his eyes. They were eerily similar to her red hooded teammate and sister behind her, a piercing silver. Longer black hair pulled back into a messy ponytail sat on his head. The rest of him was still covered in armor.

"That doesn't really make me feel better," Yang spoke in response to his attempt to get her to stand down.

"Sorry about that, let's try that again," He said after a sigh, brushing some loose hair from his face. "You can stand down, I'm not here to hurt anyone, I still don't even know where I am right now. So if you could answer that question, I'll be a lot more willing to answer any you have."

Again before the words could leave Yang's mouth, another voice broke the silence. This time it was one of the two new figures that had approached the crater while they spoke.

"You are currently at Beacon Academy," Headmaster Ozpin spoke matter-of-factly with Glynda by his side. "I am the Headmaster here, my name is Professor Ozpin, and yours would be?"

"Vincent," He spoke, beginning to walk towards the headmaster. "Vincent Briggs, Sorry about your courtyard, if my tech was working right that should have been a much smoother landing."

He chuckled making his way out of the crater to stand near Ozpin and Glynda. Once out Ozpin gestured for Vincent to follow him as he began to walk away, and Vincent obliged. Glynda stayed behind to begin fixing the damage caused by Vincent's impact. Seeing that whatever had just happened was now being dealt with, the crowds of students that had gathered further from the crater began to disperse, taking this as a sign, team RWBY and JNPR continued their journey to the cafeteria. They all had a lot on their mind, but it was no use wasting their time anymore, not when their stomachs growled as they had.

The walk to Ozpin's office had been a short, silent walk. Exiting the elevator Ozpin broke the silence.

"Would you like some coffee or tea?" Ozpin asked, approaching his desk.

"No thank you," Vincent sat in one of the chairs next to the desk. "But I will take a Moscow Mule, and I'd love it if it could be a double."

"I don't know what this Moscow Mule is, but if it's anything like an Atlesian Stud," Ozpin chuckled. "I unfortunately don't have any Vodka at the moment. But I do have some whiskey if you'd like a glass."

Ozpin responded by pulling a bottle for one of the table drawers offering it to Vincent. A small laugh left Vincent's lips as he raised his hand and shook his head.

"Normally I'd say yes to that offer," Vincent looked at the clock on the wall. "But it's still a little too early to be drinking so I'll have to take a rain check, but If you have water, my throat feels like the Sahara."

A small smile creeped its way onto Ozpin's face as he made it over to a small table at the side of the room with cups and a pitcher of water. As Ozpin began to pour a cup of water for both himself and Vincent, the elevator chimed as the doors opened and a slightly angry Glynda Goodwitch entered the office. Glaring at Vincent as she entered, she made her way over to Ozpin who had just finished filling the two cups.

"Ah nice of you to join us Glynda," He looked up to her with the same dumb smile from earlier. "Would you like some water?"

"NO," She said slightly louder than she meant before calming herself and speaking again. "Ozpin, do you believe this is wise, we don't even know where he's from, what if he was sent to kill you."

Glynda spoke well within earshot of their guest, eliciting a response from Vincent, who cleared their throat for attention. Ozpin walked past Glynda and handed the cup to Vincent, who promptly drank the whole cup in a single gulp before placing the cup on the desk in front of him. Reaching up he rubbed his throat before clearing it again.

"That's better, thank you," Vincent nodded toward Ozpin before shifting his focus to Glynda. "And, as I told the blond girl from earlier, if I was here to, or wanted to, hurt anyone here. I would have, I'm not really one to just sit around and wait if I have a job to do."

Glynda's eyes narrowed at his comment, he could feel an almost murderous intent coming from her. Ozpin spoke, drawing both their attention.

"And I'm sure you would have been most successful if you had," Ozpin paused, looking at a holo screen that appeared over his desk. "Yet you emit no aura, which is quite interesting. I was almost sure you were a licensed hunter at first, but I can find no records of your existence. So if you might shed some more light on your existence and where you are from I'm sure Glynda here would be much more at ease with your presence."

"I'm guessing this Aura you're speaking of only a Huntsman can have?" Vincent asked.

"Not necessarily, but all licensed huntsmen and huntresses do have some amount of aura that they can produce and use to protect themselves," Ozpin adjusted the glasses on his face. "But with your question, I'll assume you are not from a major city or even from this world, now are you Vincent?"

Vincent let out a laugh as Ozpin continued to stare him down awaiting an answer.

"Well, got to say no one has ever jumped that fast to that conclusion," Vincent locked eyes with Ozpin almost in a battle of wills. "But you are correct, I'm not one to leave a spot on guess unrewarded," Vincent stood from the desk and approached one of the large windows around the office.

"But first," He pointed to a column of smoke rising from the forest to the north. "If you'd kindly help with the recovery of my craft, I would be more than happy to answer your questions, well the ones I can answer."

Ozpin nodded, rising from his desk and looking to Glynda, who did little more than grimace at the trusting nature of Ozpin. Standing she realized she would not be getting to enjoy the rest of her Saturday, or the rest of her weekend at that.

Authors Note

Howdy, Hi, and Hello,

Long time no see, after all it has been 5 years, 2 months, and 29 days since my last post. And while 1,925 days is a long time, I also had a lot going on. Life has been hell, but when isn't it. Anyway enough rambling, and welcome to, Snakes aren't all bad, my newest story. And I will say Vincent is a character I created for the book I am writing. But I can't say much at the moment. As far as an update schedule, I'm going to aim for 1 to 2 updates a month at least. I hope you enjoyed the chapter.
