Family

Taylor's about to either stand up or shift over to make room for him, but she doesn't have to. Raph sits on the floor next to her, resting his hands on his knees. They sit for a moment in silence, watching the others without listening to the conversation in the background.

The adrenaline's wearing off now, and the reality of what just happened sinks in. If Casey hadn't shown up, Taylor would probably be dead by now and God knows what would happened to April and the turtles.

She's not going to cry. She's not. But she's breathing easily and she feels completely relaxed next to Raph.

"You didn't think we'd do it."

She looks up at him. "What do you mean?"

"I saw the look on your face when Hun had you by the neck. You didn't think we'd drop our weapons, did you?"

Taylor sighs. She was hoping they hadn't caught that.

"We weren't gonna let you die, Taylor. Doesn't matter if we'd known you for ages or if you're someone he grabbed at random - we ain't gonna let innocents die and we weren't gonna let you die."

Taylor remembers the story April told her, about how the turtles came to the rescue of the hostages in the subway.

"Look," Raph says, and this time he turns to face her. "You got a chance to live a normal life. Just...just don't be ordinary. You deserve better than that. And even if we never see you again after this, any time you need us, we'll be there. Because that's what family's for."

Taylor feels something she didn't even know she was carrying fall away. She blinks rapidly, her throat feeling uncomfortably tight, and smiles.

He nudges her and stands to go.

"Raph."

"Yeah?"

She takes a deep breath. "I don't know if this means anything, but...I want you to know I've forgiven you." You and Leo, she realises but doesn't say.

He smiles at her. "Means a lot, Taylor. Thanks. And I am sorry."

"I know. It's OK."
