"Kaori? Is everything okay?" Inko asked as I excitedly knocked on the door to their apartment. Izuku, as usual, wasn't home yet since he was out training with All Might, but I was here primarily to see Inko anyways. Which was why I had knocked on ehr door so loudly and quickly

"It's here!" I shoved the letter forward with a smile, a simple white envelope if not for the red wax seal keeping it closed, the sigil of UA embossed in the hard wax.

"Come in! Come in!" She quickly ushered me in, an excited smile on her face and I followed instantly, throwing my shoes off and slipping into the slippers I had in the apartment. "You haven't opened it yet?"

"Nah, wanted to open it when I was with you" I smiled, following her into the living room so we could open it at the dining table. "Figured this way if I get rejected I can steal my ice cream from the freezer and if I get in we can celebrate"

"Oh hush you, you'll get in" She rolled her eyes with a gentle smile, pushing me into a chair and standing behind me. It reminded me, once again of how small Inko Midoriya really is, because even sitting she could barely see over the top of my head. Which either means I'm just way too tall or she shrunk a lot from when I was a kid.

I took a deep breath, calming my building nerves as I looked down on the letter. A flood of excitement rushed through me and I heard the snap of the wax, the action making the packet jump just enough for the most important item to come flying out, a small, circular hologram dropping on the table. I didn't look at the paper inside, folding the flap of the envelope over so I didn't spoil it for myself before reaching across to activate the hologram.

"Oh my" I heard Inko gasp, and it clicked that she'd probably never seen a personal hologram like this before, but I didn't say anything as the blue lights began to take form in the air, displaying a perfect colour image of-

"It's the damn rat again!" I exclaimed, narrowing my eyes.

"Am I a rat? A bear? A dog? No! It's me, the Principal of U.A. High School! Nezu!" The bane of my existence called out his usual motto as he sprang to life, his suit in place and that damn cup of tea swirling menacingly in his hands. "Kaori Hirano! It's good to be speaking to you once again!"

This damn rat! I'll have my revenge one day, Nezu! One day!

"Now that greetings are out of the way, let's talk about your recent performance at the U.A. High School Recommendation Entrance Exam!" He continued jovially, most likely aware of my own going plots to fuck with the rats day! "First, we'll begin with your Written Exam scores! In terms of overall achievement, it is my honour to say you passed all four written exams in the top percentile groups, and scored the highest in terms of the English Examination! A complete and total victory!"

"Well done Kaori!" I felt Inko's hands squeeze my shoulders, a bright grin on her face as we celebrated the results.

"As you may have assumed, you have similarly passed the Physical Examination" The arbiter of UA said with a smile and laugh "Setting a new high score, you have resoundingly taken First Place in the physical examination, surpassing all other recommendation students taking the same exam as you"

A leaderboard quickly replaced the image of Nezu on the screen, listing out the top ten candidates in terms of speed, with myself in the first place, Inasa Yoarashi - So that was his surname! - and Shoto Todoroki, who was most likely Candy Cane, in second and third respectively.

Surprisingly, Setsuna and Momo weren't in fourth and fifth like I was expecting, with another boy called Lynn Rounds, a very much not Japanese name, taking fourth and pushing the both of them out of the top five, beating them out by only a few moments.

"The final public aspect of your testing" I don't like how you said that Nezu-chan. Stop being mean Nezu-chan. You're making me scared Nezu-chan… meanie Nezu-chan. "The Interview. After considering from myself and taking in the notes from the other proctors, and our surprise guest for the examination; All Might. I can confirm that you, Kaori Hirnao…"

You fucking bastard! Why did you have to show my interview to All Might! Evil Nezu! Mean Nexu! Villain Nezu! This is why I can't have nice things!

"It is my pleasure to confirm that you passed the Interview portion of the recommendation exam with flying colours! Well Done!" He cheered and I heard Inko let out a small sob of relief, something I was very close to joining her in if my blurring eyes are anything to go by. "As you may have assumed, there was more to this examination than just the examination that you partook in last week. All students of the recommendation course were submitted to the faculty before the year began in earnest. By the time of July last year, every student who attended last week's event was already submitted into the recommendation course. For every month that passed since you were accepted into the course, myself and your fellow teachers have been in close contact with the parents, heroes and schools that recommended you forward into the exam."

I felt my heart stop for a moment. My mind casting back to all the things I;'d done in those nie months. All of the training, the vomit, the blood, sweat and tears. The long nights and even longer days. I recalled the argument I had with Izuku, the meeting with Yagi-san. I remembered my initial hesitate to accept the recommendation, and how all of them may have been the end or beginning of this story to UA.

Inko's hands tightened on my shoulders briefly and I felt myself come back to reality, letting out a deep sigh as I prepared for the final verdict.

"Your every action since finding out has been monitored and has played brutally into our decision making process. Those who did not meet the requirements expected of a Recommended Student from U.A. have been rejected from this school and recommended to partake in the General Entrance Exam in one week's time. So, with this knowledge in mind. I, Principal Nezu of U.A. High, would like to officially tell you, Kaori Hirnao,"' He paused dramatically and I felt my girl on my thighs tighten, breath going still in my mouth as the world crawled to a pause. "You're Hero Academia begins Now! Welcome, on behalf of all staff members, To U.A. High"

"Ohthankyougod"

"YOU DID IT!" Inko sobbed, tears in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around my neck, tears flowing happily down her face as the hologram cut to a pause on Nezu's smug face. "Oh, I knew you could do it Kaori, I'm so happy for you! We'll have to celebrate! And you'll have to tell Yagi-san and Iwata-san! They'll be happy to know you passed Kaori! Oh, I'm so proud of you!

I couldn't help but laugh at it all, mind zooming far away from where Inko was rambling away ni my ear as I proceed all of it.

9 months ago and I'd been so pissed I had been recommended, I'd been so upset I'd been given the opportunity and only accepted it out of pride but… all of the good it's given me, all the opportunity that has presented itself to me because of it. All those days training with Iwata-sensei, growing to know my teacher as more than just a friendly figure I see at school, to the mentor he'd become.

I wouldn't have met Yagi-san or talked to Izuku if I wasn't training at the school, I'd have been staying out later and going home later. I'd have never been given the opportunity to meet All Might and talk with him, see how the NUmber One acted behind closed doors rather than the interviews I'd only ever seen him in prior. I'd have never met Setsuna or Momo either, never had the opportunity to get to know the people around me as closely as I have if I had just said no.

Would I have even passed if I went through the general exam? Who knows and who cares! I'd succeeded, I'd done what so few before me had ever done, I'd passed through the trials and gained access to one of the top hero schools in the world because of it.

What a fucking weird world we live in.

I tugged myself forward, reaching for the envelope so I could read through the paper properly, scanning through each document with hawk-like eyes so I could catch every word and meaning and commit it to memory.

"Well, what does it say?" Inko pushed after a moment, having moved away to grab a pack of tissues to wipe her eyes and blow her nose, finally taking a seat so we could discuss the events properly.

"I have to let the school know my clothing sizes so they can prepare my summer, winter and p.e. uniforms ." I began, placing the paper down. "I've been given a couple pieces of paper which I'm supposed to design my hero costume and any support items I want on so they can be sent off the designs that sponsor U.A. to be made for my Hero Course sessions which have to be sent back by March 20th. I've officially been welcomed into Class 1-A and I'll be receiving a copy of my timetable following the conclusion of the general exam. I do have a letter to send back saying I'd be honouring the agreement and going to U.A. but I doubt anyone is stupid enough to reject an acceptance."

I paused, flipping the page over before continuing to speak.

"School starts at 8:25 and finishes at 15:10 but Hero Course students have an extra lecture between 15:10 and 16:10, so we leave later than everyone else. We're recommended to look into the after school activities the school offers, even if they're not enforced and we're free to make use of any facilities the school offers" I continued, making a note to do that. "Like at Daiya it's a six day school week, so we only get our Sundays off. If students are coming from afar and don't believe they'll be able to commute to the school within a time then they should get in contact with the admissions office where the school will work alongside the parents to set up an accommodation in Musutafu that the student can stay in"

I slowly began rattling off all the information, even if some wasn;t as necessary as others, even if I would love to get a separate apartment just so I didn't have to live with my dad, it would end up just being another unneeded expenditure.

Plus, I don't believe he'd be able to keep himself alive if I genuinely left for an extended period of time

"Students may leave campus to eat food but must return in time for their afternoon lectures. The school also has the Lunch Rush Cafeteria, where Pro Hero: Lunch Rush will serve affordable, hot and nutritious meals to students. Students should make any illnesses or allergies known before attending so accommodations can be made should they eat at Lunch Rush's cafeteria" I finished with the important information, passing the note over to Inko so she could look it over as well.

It'd also be good for her to know in case Izuku gets in to U.A. as well.

Pulling out the other forms basically just amounted to what I was already told. A couple sheets of blank A4 paper so I could design my costume, as well as a separate envelope so I could send back all my documentation, which was handy.

"Have you already got an idea about your Hero Costume?" Inko asked, having seen me staring down at the blank paper while she was reading.

"Me and Iwata-sensei have been discussing it over the last few months" I said, which caught her by surprise if the shocked look she gave me was anything to go by. "I'm going the Capture-Rescue route, so I need to design my costume with that in mind. We've been discussing what's essential to the costume and what's more of a gimmick that I don't really need. Like, my costume needs a lot of protection since I don't have any durability enhancements from my quirk."

"Oh?"

"There's a lot of things that go into a costume" I shrugged "Different Quirks have different needs and different types of heroes require different things too. Since I'm going Capture-Rescue I need a costume that's suitable for either environment, so it won't weigh me down if I'm fighting and can protect me from villains but also wont get in the way or be too light if I'm ended in a rescue situation. A lot fo Capture heroes have pretty simple costumes that are focused entirely on empowering their quirk. I mean, look at Endeavour, his costume is simple but he has gauntlets around his hands to help with his punching and blocking, and I'm sure his suit has a heat regulator so he doesn't overheat as much and is probably reinforced to help him withstand attacks"

I paused, looking away from the paper and to the ceiling furrowing my eyebrows

"On the other hand, a lot of rescue heroes costumes are focused on their environments" I continued. "Think… Selkie. He's a rescue hero who focuses on the coastline, his costume is designed to allow him to move through water more streamlined. Goggles, flippers, a wet suit, it's all designed so he can react to his environment and capitalise on it. Support Heroes and Undercover heroes are the same, they have different needs."

"So what about you then?" She asked curiously and I smiled.

"I have a handful of ideas" I started comfortably, "I want a cape that can double as a thermal blanket. It'd be easier to wear it than carry it in a pouch and it'll be handy if I'm helping people at sea, during the cold, or, well, anywhere really. I want to add tasers into my gloves, so I can stun people at close range. I want some kind of armour incorporated because I don't have much in terms of durability. I'll probably start by asking for a kevlar-esque weave to be put through my clothes for now, but some aesthetically pleasing but more noticeable armour might be added later if I don't find the weave suitable. I also want to add some pouches to the costume so I can store first aid equipment. I want to be able to carry around the basics so I can help people in emergencies, stuff like bandages, plasters, painkillers, gauze- things that can be carried around and save lives."

"What do you think Izuku would need?" She asked with a furrowed brow and I blinked. "A-Ah, sorry, go on"

"Nah, it's okay" I frowned. "Izuku is determined to be a capture hero, and with his lack of quirk you'd be looking at a lot of protection compared to damage output. His suit would need some kind of protection because, like me, he doesn't have anything really enhancing his durability. A stab to the stomach will hurt him, so you want him safe and secure. So his suit needs protection and you'd want some kind of headgear for the same reason. A good hit to the head can do serious damage. You also need to focus on damage, his fists most likely, so some kind of guard for his hands so he can block hits with his arms without worrying about the damage while also dealing sufficient damage with his own fists. Everything else would depend on him and if he wants to rely on support tools."

It wasn't much, but again, it all focused on what kind of Hero Izuku wants to be. If he wants to run around just punching people then he'd need to focus on that. If he wants to use capture tools and other support items then he'd need to design them or discuss their development with someone better at it than me.

"We both have to take advantage of the school as well" I continued with a sigh. "Iwata-sensei was telling me ages ago that UA operates differently to any other hero school. The classes are run almost universally by their homeroom teachers, there's different rules for different classes and teachers have powers they usually don't. You have to actively reach out to be taught something not on the curriculum and a lot of focus is put on your own willingness to learn there."

I can't remember if he said anything else, it was months ago when he'd mentioned it after all, but I remembered the basic premise enough to tell Inko about it, so she could later tell Izuku when he gets in. If he gets in.

"I want to learn First Aid and hopefully get my official certificate as soon as possible, so I'm going to be reaching out to Recovery Girl and the school nurses as soon as possible." I reasoned, humming. "I also want to reach out to Snipe, the resident firearms expert, so he can help me learn how to take out people with firearms and, if I were to redirect bullets, where I should aim, that's none lethal. Izuku should be reaching out to heroes centred on hand to hand combat. He doesn't have any fighting style or experience, so reaching out and learning proper capture techniques and fighting skills would be useful. Sorry, you mind if I put my headphones in and start designing my costume, I want to get this sent back as soon as possible while I still have all my ideas floating around me head"

"Oh! No, no, go ahead! I'll run into Izuku's room and grab some of his pencils" Inko apologised, quickly running off while I set my phone up to play some of the music I was singing to Setsuna last night during Karaoke.

Setsuna: U have ur results?

Kaori: I got in! You?

Setsuna: SAME! Class 1-B

Setsuna: U know it~

Putting my phone down, I mouthed a thank you to Inko who dropped a bunch of coloured pencils and pens on the table next to me so I could draw, moving over to the sofa so she could leave me in peace and watch her own shows in the meantime.

"Okay… Okay, I got it" Inko muttered nervously into the phone and I couldn't help but listen to her mutterings from the sofa, a frown on face. The way the call had been going, it didn't sound so good and the moment Inko put the phone down she let out a choked sob

"Inko? Is everything okay? What's happened? Is Izuku okay?" I asked, throwing myself out of the chair so I could round on the woman, drawing her into my arms in a disturbingly familiar event, though this time without a pounding migraine to drive me to rage.

I'd decided to spend the day in the Midoriya household to look after Inko. The weeks had flown by and the general exam was upon us before I knew it. I'd known Inko would be worrying her heart out about Izuku the entire time so I'd planned to crash in theirs to keep her company, even if that basically just amounted to sitting on the sofa and watching Hero Dramas with her.

"I-Izuku's quirk awoken d-during the exam" She began and I felt my body shift from nervous to tense. Izuku's quirk? Izuku doesn't have a quirk, what fucking quirk? "A-And he hurt himself r-really badly, b-broke his arms and l-legs. Y-Yagi-san is staying with him and said he'd bring him home once wakes up once he's recovered from Recovery Girls quirk"

"I-I thought Izuku was quirkless, what happened? Did Yagi-san say anything?" I asked, tightening my hold on the woman even as I dealt with the new knowledge.

"Y-Yagi-san said they'd talk about it when Izuku gets home" She confided, breaking into a sob. "B-But it seemed to be a k-kind of strengthening quirk f-from what he was s-saying"

A strengthening quirk? How the fuck did Izuku get a strengthening quirk? How did nobody notice? I thought they'd run tests on him as a toddler to check everything, did they miss something during the tests or something? How the fuck does firebreathing and attraction of small objects equal fucking strengthening? How strong is his quirk that it broke his body now! A few months ago, I could understand but now? Izuku had put on a lot of muscle, how was he getting fucked over with all that extra muscle mass?

I slowly moved Inko over to the sofa, not able to suppress my frown as my brain worked a mile a minute.

How the fuck did he just awaken his quirk? Late bloomers were a thing, it wasn't an uncommon thing to happen in the quirkless population, but there were usually signs before that, prerequisites that had to be unlocked, notes left by doctors saying there was a chance. As far as I could remember Izuku had been resoundingly confirmed quirkless, basically slapped with a sign that said no sign of blooming.

Even if he had, there were still no signs to show Izuku ever had a quirk! He was a tad more fire resistant than most thanks to his dad and constant exposure to Bakugou but not enough for it to be labelled a quirk but a factor of the Charles Atlas Effect. If he'd shown any ability to develop a strength enhancing quirk it would've shown by now

The ability to pick up muscle mass in extremely quick intervals, being able to lift or simply do a bit more than a normal person, not enough to be counted outside the realm of human possibility, but a bit more noticeable. Izuku had never shown any of that. He'd not put on much weight, sure, but muscle mass? Not easily. Even the months he spent training wasn't outside the realm of possibility, so why now?

Unless it was some weird mess where it didn't actually boost his strength but stockpile? Stockpile quirks were often weird like that, but one that took 15 years to manifest? He'd have shown signs before hand, depending on what he was stockpiling there would've been noticeable effects, even if it was just a base energy stockpile, he'd have noticeably more energy or noticeably less and no matter what, Izuku was neither that energetic or that lethargic

A claim could be made he was stockpiling ambient heat but the only way I could even think of that not being noticeable is because of his constant exposure to Bakugou, but even they spent hours apart, so Inko would've realised

Then again, I should've as well but I never noticed a chill or a difference while around Izuku..

Jesus christ, what kind of quirk had he managed to unleash to break himself so badly! Thank god Yagi had been training him, if he'd just awoken his quirk like that 10 months back he'd have killed himself, jesus fuck.

It took maybe thirty minutes for me to get Inko to a place where she wasn't actively sobbing, but she was clearly still fretting out of her mind, and another 10 minutes before the door to the apartment began to clink and clatter as Izuku and Yagi made their way home

"Mom, I'm back- oof" I barely even realised Inko had gone before i heard Izuku's puff of air. A small twist in space and I walked out behind the woman, grabbing Izuku's arm last second before he fell over, Yagi's hands pushing his back as well.

"Yagi-san, good to see you again" I smiled

"It's been a while Young Hirano" He smiled

"Inko, we should let Izuku get in" I gently coerced, "Do you want to help get Izuku to his room while I make some tea for Yagi-san"

She didn't audibly respond, just grabbing onto Izuku and waddling him to his room, while I closed the door behind Yagi, taking him to the living area and setting him down at the desk.

"I heard you passed the recommendation exam, congratulations!" He complimented me while I waited for the kettle to boil.

"Yeah, I heard the rat showed All Might the recording of my interview" I moaned "he's not like, upset right? I know he probably hears similar stuff every day but like… I don't know, he's not upset I called his job stupid right? Or that I think I can do it better"

Of all the responses I was expecting, Yagi bursting into laughter was the last one. In fact, it took him so long to calm down that I was able to pour three cups of tea and set them down, thought Inko's would probably be cold by the time she finally left Izuku's side, probably once he had finally fallen asleep.

"No, no, he's not upset at all" He chuckled, wiping a tear from his eye "he seemed quite proud the younger generation were so determined to carry on his legacy in the future, especially a friend of Young Midoriya like yourself."

"Ah, thank god for that" I sighed, relaxing in my chair, much to Yagi's amusement. "I swear to God that Rat has it out for me Yagi-san. You've met him right? You gotta tell me Yagi-san, why's the rat so obsessed with me, starting to think he's just doing it to fuck with me"

"HAH! Now that'd be telling Young Kaori" He laughed at my struggles. Dick. "But I wouldn't worry about it too hard, nor would I judge the principal too harshly. He was very excited when his old friend sent him a recommendation letter, so I believe he's just playing favourites"

"Principal Nezu knows Iwata-sensei?" I asked confused

"Hm, it's not well known but, before becoming a Hero, Nezu was experimented on by villains when they discovered his High Spec quirk, they were attempting to create a perfect slave that could help them rise to the pinnacle of villainy. When Bronze Bull and your sensei stormed the laboratory they were working in, Magnificent rescued Nezu and took him to safety, vouching for him and putting his career on the line. They helped Nezu recover from the trauma he suffered and get the help he needed. In some ways, Nezu is your older sibling since you were both taught by Magnificent. Hah!"

This- This sick twisted bastard has been fuckign with me because he's my older brother!

THE GODDAMNED RAT IS MY BIG BROTHER!

WHEN I SEE THAT MOTHERFUCKER-

OH, IWATA-SENSEI IST IS SO ON YOU FUCKING- AHHHHH

Calm

I'm calm.

I'm so serene that even buddha is awed, there is no single worldly desire that can break the serenity I am feeling right now.

In and out, Kaori, in… and out…

Calm.

"I see" I answered neutrally. "I'm going to murder that rat. Iwata-sensei too"

"N-Now Young Hirano, there's no need to go that far" Yagi-san stutter out with a chuckle

"Too late" I replied determined, eyes ablaze with more passion and dedication than I'd ever felt. "If the rat wants to play the role of the big brother I'll show him exactly what happens when he fucks with his little sister. That goddamn tea set is mine, I'll get back at the rat if it's the last thing I-"

"I-Izuku's finally in bed- d-did I interrupt something? Is-Is everything okay" Inko questioned as she came around the corner, thoroughly perplexed by the barely concealed laughter of Yagi-san and my, most likely, steaming red face as I plotted my dastardly revenge against… Nezu-Nii-san?

…why did I just feel a shiver down my spine…

Anyway-

"No, no, we were discussing Young Hirano's recent accomplishment of getting into UA." Yagi saved face, smiling as Inko took her seat. "If it's all alright, would I be able to cut to the chase… I'm sorry but I must get home soon, important work"

"No, no, please! Tell me what happened to Izuku" Inko pleaded, tears in her eyes

"I- What I'm about to tell you is considered confidential, so you must not repeat this to anyone else until it's officially announced, alright? Not even Izuku knows yet, and he shouldn't be made aware until the results are in." Me and Inko shared a look before nodding resolutely, my eyebrows furrowing. "All Might will be teaching at UA in the coming year, which is why he's been present for the exams so far and part of the reason why I was given leave to stay in Musutafu for so long, I've been setting up All Mights accommodation for his stay and making plans with Principal Nezu for All Mights schedule"

All Mights teaching at UA…

I'M GOING TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO HERO BY THE FUCKING NUMBER ONE, WHAT THE FUCK?!

"Due to All Mights presence during the Exams, and my own connection to Izuku, I was given permission to attend the examination as well, though I, like All Might, had no voting power" He continued, aware of our shock but wanting to get to the important part, forcing me and Inko to soak up our shock for later. "The exam this time around focused on the 'Fighting of Villains' and participants gained points by destroying robots. However, Robots also had off switches people with less destructive quirks could use to gain points"

I soaked that up instantly. Bakugou would be a surefire victor then, I'd be surprised if he doesn't come in first place to be honest, destroying robots is exactly up his alley and his quirk makes it so much easier.

Nonetheless, Izuku would've had a harder time, no doubt about it.

"Thanks to the training Young Hirano recommended" and I flushed when the attention suddenly lapsed on me "Midoriya was able to keep his calm and progress smoothly. I won't reveal anything about the exam, but near the end of the exam, a robot called the Zero Pointer was released into each arena. This robot gave zero points to the one who destroyed it and was intended to force students into either fighting it together, spreading out, or helping other students"

And Izuku would've instantly helped the other students, as any good hero should've, which they were probably going to be scored on, since it's a fucking Hero school.

"During this event, another student by the name of Ochako Uraraka ended up pinned by the robot" Yagi continued "Seeing his fellow student in what he perceived to be danger, Izuku's body began to expel green lightning, a signifier of a quirk awakening, and leapt into the sky, destroying the robot in a single punch."

And that's how he broke his legs and arm. The force from the leap shattered the bones in his legs from the expulsion of force and the bones in his arm broke when he hit the robot and expelled that safe force. How the hell did he survive the fall though?

And how big was the fucking Zero Pointer for him to have to leap into the sky?

"Luckily, Young Uraraka was able to save Izuku in turn before All Might and the other heroes intervened" He continued with an emotional sigh, and Inko practically choked with the way she had begun to sob. "Principal Nezu asked for more details on your own and his fathers quirks, and came to the conclusion that Izuku may have been stockpiling a miniscule amount of ambient heat, not enough to be instantly noticeable, but enough to store up and, whether from an incident in his childhood or the limits of his own body, was never able to manifest the quirk to expel the energy, causing the severe build up we see now"

"So, what, he's never going to actually be able to use the quirk, or is there a work around?" I cut in quickly, my brain moving a mile a minute to process the information. "His body won't survive if he continues to break it over and over again and there's only so much healing can do, so do we have a way to work it around? If he fails UA and has to take another exam he'll need to have his quirk under control, hell, even if he gets in he'll need to be able to limit his power outage"

"Well, we're not sure yet if it was just the first release of power that caused the breaking" Yagi ran a hand over his face, his own worry and desperation for an answer showing through. "There's a high chance it was just the initial burst. Think a shaken soda bottle, the first time the lids took off its explosive but afterwards it's controlled. I… It's a horrible situation right now. Myself and All Might will be busy sorting through the acceptances and denials for the next week, after that we'll hopefully be able to get Izuku to UA to use his quirk in a safer environment, but there's no guarantees right now."

"So, he's just fucked?" I scowled, but didn't rise to the anger. It was as he said, a fucky situation. They couldn't take him to UA, they can't take him to a quirk doctor and I cant cart him off to Iwata-sensei.

"Should he get into UA, he'll receive the training needed once the school year starts in earnest" He confessed with a sigh "Should he fail… I'll ask All Might to pull some influence and set up a meeting where he can learn to control it in a safe environment before the Shinketsu exams being"

"You're going to have to make sure Izuku knows how to use the quirk if he doesn't take to it instinctively" I continued, wrapping my arms around Inko as she sobbed. "Chances say he'll be thinking like a normal person now, he's going to have to relearn everything we taught him over the past few months"

"What do you mean" Yagi-san furrowed his eyebrows and I frowned

"When you see civilians fight for the first time, the first punch they throw, you ever notice anything about it?" I asked, thinking back to all the fights I'd watched break out in all the schools I'd gone too, and the various ones I'd been exposed to in public. "They put their all into that first punch and leave themselves nothing to follow up"

"You think Izuku will start thinking like that again" Yagi-san realised, his eyes widening

"Yup" I popped my p "Izuku's not an instinctive fighter, so he'll probably think 'I have strength, so i must use it' and start putting his all into that first hit again. Teach him to hold it back and, well, he should be fine until his body can adapt to the strength needed"

Not a perfect solution, and it depended entirely on Izuku, but It was the only path I could see happening right now. I'd watched too many fights to know how people think when they throw that first punch, people thinking a strong, first right hook is all they need to finish a fight before realising that, against a more skilled opponent, a strong hit means nothing and they've left themselves open.

"You… I'll keep that in mind Kaori" Yagi muttered, pausing to write it down in a notepad he pulled from his pocket. "Will you be…"

"Yeah, don't worry, I'll look after Inko" I sighed, patting the woman's side "Tell All Might I said hi. If you see the rat tell him I'll have my revenge and I'll never acknowledge him as my 'Onii-chan~'"

Yagi laughed, downing his drink and leaving, casting one last glance between Izuku's door and Inko before leaving with a guilty frown, probably upset at the events that had happened.

"All right, let's get you to bed Inko" I sighed "I'll check in with Izuku tomorrow, make sure he's doing all right. Your first broken bone is always the most memorable"

Breaking my toe in my last life had been painful enough, both legs and an arm all at once would… no wonder he was so exhausted.

LINEBREAK

[Hellooooo~

Little bit of a filler chapter before we get into canon proper, but I felt like it'd be weird skipping over Kaori's reaction to Izuku's exam, so we get some more Inko/Kaori interaction and some much needed Yagi/Kaori interaction :3

I also made Nezu-Onii-Chan canon. Blame my brother, he put the idea in my head and I ran with it ;-; tbf, I already had the plan of Nezu being rescued by Iwata-sensei, just... not to the extent that has been confirmed now ;-; So now we have three perspectives on why Nezu's been fucking with Kaori. Because it's fun and he's an asshole (Kaori's pov), because he's playing games with his favourites like always (the teachers), and because he's a little shit playing pranks on his "little sister" (Nezu's)

This chapter was actually supposed to have another slice of life bit in the middle where Kaori, Setsuna and Momo have a sleepover at Momo's because the latter invited them to a paty to celebrate her getting into UA, but no matter how many times I rewrote it, it just didn't feel right ;-; sorry to everyone who enjoys Momo for cucking you out of more Momo time ;-; I might write it as an Omake since then I don't have to work it into a chapter and it can be read as a one shot, but... yeah, sorry ;-;

Finally getting into canon, next chapter should be the Quirk Apprehension test and (maybe) some more Setsuna time :3

Anyways, hope y'all enjoyed :3]
