Chapter 31
At the Kyoto school…
Kiyoshi was in the library going over the various books the school obtained, there were a lot of books dealing with sorcerer, but there were some that had to do with the divine, elemental, spiritual and what have you. But the one that caught his attention the most was a seconds on dragons!
"They have a shelf dedicated to dragons?!" he whispered in disbelief.
Curious, Kiyoshi picked a book at random and began to read. The book itself was rather detailed and yet, it appeared hand written. "This isn't something normally found in a school of jujutsu…" he muttered to himself.
"No shit, I had to write that by memory…"
He paused and peered up to see one of the teachers… who oddly enough looked like Toji a little… well… not a little. He bore the same face as him and yet there was a lot of Naoya in his face too.
"You wrote this?" Kiyoshi asked.
The teacher nodded and took a seat. "I had to spend some time in Tibet on studying, my clan liked to… look for unusual things in the world, at the time, I was looking into dragons. I had a younger brother who was in Tibet doing this before I got there… then I took over the writing as he began to restart his research into the beasts," He explained. "A lot of the books I learned from, no longer exist. Luckily I do have a phenomenal memory and retained everything until I wrote it all out, all the books on dragons here… are from me."
Kiyoshi was fascinated, he read over some of the pages and realized… this was the same information Yua had in her book collection!
"You appear surprised?" the teacher asked.
"I am… I didn't think anyone would put this much detail into a book on dragons. I mean people wouldn't believe this right away now would they?" Kiyoshi asked. "But the aspects… they are extremely plausible to me…"
He bowed his head a little. "Why thank you, I don't like to make up nonsense. My family entrusted me to retain and write out this knowledge for future generations. I never expected that this research would be taken. I mean, I tried to get some books back that I wrote a while ago… yet… where I kept them… burned to the ground." He said solemnly. "So, I had to start again. And rest assured, I was pissed off about my books going up in smoke!"
"Harsh… Reminds me of a friend of mine, he has to relearn his technique all over again…"
"That's rare…" came out of the teacher. "Oh, by the way, I am sensei Hokus!" he said.
"Kiyoshi"
"Ah, you're the one my brother speaks of… very talented… by the way, if your friend needs help with that technique of his, he is more than welcome to come here and see if we can help. He doesn't have to be a student or anything." He explained.
Kiyoshi forced a smile and said he would bring it up with him. But at the moment, the best teacher he has is at his fingertips. Kiyoshi went back to the book at hand as sensei Hokus excused himself.
That was when Kiyoshi found a little nugget of information. In fact, this was something that shouldn't be in any book that is within a jujutsu school.
'There are some reports and instances of dragons appearing in jujutsu sorcerers, as such one aspect comes from the Tooru clan…'
He paused. "They mention the Toorus…"
He kept reading. 'The Tooru clan were the odd sorcerers of their time, madness wasn't all that predominate in their clans, they appeared to keep a level head and ego in check. As such their talents came from their technique. Whatever gift they were given, they could extend it and push the technique to the limit of it's ability, some have said this was their true power and have dubbed this method as 'an all rounder' meaning they don't focus on one aspect of their power, they see and test if it can go farther due to similarities with other forms of jujutsu. Those who did not bare any curse energy, found their bodies alter to better suit themselves in battle against curses and even other sorcerers. Heavenly restrictions, however for the Tooru family, they have come to understand that Heavenly restrictions was merely a stepping stone. There were other levels of this talent as well…'
Kiyoshi began to wonder about this. There hasn't been information like this in Yua's books, and yet… how did this teacher know? It made little sense to him, but he kept reading. There is apparently a theory of heavenly restrictions can go beyond that of what is seen as the 'norm' among those with such capabilities.
'There is no evidence of this, nor is there any indication of this. This is merely in theory until proven otherwise…'
"I wonder if I can borrow this book?" Kiyoshi went over the rules of the library, books can be taken out but the ones on dragons must remain in the library.
Interesting rule.
He placed it back for now, yet made note of the book cover and title to check on it later. It's a shame he couldn't bring Yua to see these books for herself, perhaps she would have a better understanding of them…
