CHAPTER 11: LUCY LOUD
.
Lucy Loud. Black-haired goth girl on her pre-teenage. The seventh sister of the Loud siblings.
Lincoln: "Hello darkness, my old friend…" [comes in dark robe]
Bertrand: "Greetings, Loud. It is nice of you to join our little community, isolated behind the shadows."
Lincoln: "Is this… supposed to be a secret community?"
Boris: "No. Everyone who values mortality more than fleeting hedonism is welcome. But in this century, it is rare to find such a human."
Compared to the other siblings, Lucy is an anomaly. First, amongst the loudness of her sisters, she is the quietest of all. Amongst the colorfulness of them, she is monochromatic. And no matter how lively her family can be, she chooses to be stale as dead. Hell, even her own biological appearance alienates her from the siblings, since unlike them, Lucy does not seem to inherit anything directly from her parents. So, where do her genes come from?
Haiku: "So, what raises your interest about our minor society?"
Lincoln: "I better be honest with you anyway. I used to have a sister. She's a goth, like who you all are right now."
Haiku: "And… you want to impress her?"
Lincoln: "…She is dead."
Haiku: [gasps]
Persephone: "…We are sorry about your loss." [mourns]
Lincoln: "I want to respect the way she envisions life, through mourning the deads. Maybe this way, she can finally have a good rest."
Morpheus: "…Maybe even better, you can talk to her, and we'll help you with that. Right, Thorneus?"
Thorns: "Caw!"
It is said that Lynn Loud Senior, the patriarch, used to have a grandmother that resembles Lucy, goes by the name Mrs. Harriet, and both are so much alike. Silent, grim, solemn, and believes in dark magic. It is even stated that even after her death, Mrs. Harriet still holds a close spiritual relationship with Lucy.
Lincoln: "…And Mrs. Harriet you mentioned earlier, is related to my sister."
Dante: "Ooh!"
Haiku: "So it is Lucy. I see the red line now."
Lincoln: "Yeah. That's why I wanted to see if she was once related to you."
Bertrand: "Sadly… no. But if she's a goth just like the way we all are, we are glad to communicate with her."
Lincoln: "Trust me. You'll love her."
If there's anything she respects besides her family, it is death. Yep. There's an old saying that life is short, sometimes super short. After all, what is the point of being dead, if you don't live a little? There's also a saying that death is the best teacher every mortal being ever has, as it becomes a hard reminder of what you should do while you're still alive. All the living are given a gracious gift as they breathe, and they must make the best of it before it is taken away from them, forever. And Lucy, seems interested in philosophy of life after death. As much as she loves it, Lucy has become an undertaker to pay respect upon those who passed away and ease their eternal rest.
Bertrand: "...For He shall accept this poor man's soul to The Eden. Amen." [prays in solemnity]
The Morticians: "Amen."
Lincoln: "Amen."
Not only death, Lucy also loves stuffs coming from the world of darkness, such as bats, ghosts, lycanthropy, vampires, grim reaper, creepy creatures, poetry, occultism, Halloween, you name it. She has a group of goths, just like her, namely The Morticians, and they share many common things. For instance, they both watch "Vampires of Melancholia" and attend funeral ceremonies. And she has some affinities to bats that it is known that Lucy is one of few Loud siblings that possesses personal pets, besides Lana. Fangs, a vampire bat, remains loyal alongside her.
Boris: "So, what's your theory about the last season of The Vampires of Melancholia?"
Lincoln: "Edwin wants to build an army of vampires, but what I don't understand is his motives and why he chose normal and skinny people as his victims." [shrugs]
Fangs: "Skree!" [nods]
Morpheus: "Maybe… they are an easy prey?"
Boris: "No, no. No way someone noble like Edwin wants a weak army of undeads. Besides, he can just ask Tristan to seek stronger candidates."
Dante: "Oh! I know! He wants to spread his influence among humanity!"
Persephone: "By attacking human town? I have no idea about that, but what tickles my nerves more is that why a tranquility-lover like Edwin suddenly wants to amass an army…"
Bertrand: "…I actually have a theory. Vampires are morbidly rare in this world, and Edwin seeks to convert a handful of peasants… Maybe he's just trying to preserve vampire's generation?"
How Lucy moves unnoticed though, remains a mystery. Does she just teleport like a jumper? Can she really turn invisible? Does she travel through some sort of astral plane? Or is it just that people are too ignorant of Lucy to even notice her? Either way, Lucy is always successful at spooking people this way, especially her family, whenever she says hello. Maybe it's a mystery nobody should unravel. Sometimes, truth is best kept hidden.
Lincoln: "Hi, dad!" [comes from behind]
Lynn Sr: "WAAH!" [shocked]
Lincoln: "Haha… Relax, it's just me!" [laughs]
Lynn Sr: "S- Son!? I never saw it coming when you were saying hi to me!" [sighs in relief]
But yet, either way, after everything that makes Lucy and her siblings so contrast, they still love each other, like they should always do. And maybe, little do they know, no matter how gothic she is, Lucy still shares a portion of 'norm' side inside her.
Bertrand: "Let us all join hands and stand." [starts a seance]
Lincoln & The Morticians: [forms a circle]
Bertrand: "To whom I speak to… Lucy Loud. Are you listening…?"
Bertrand: "We have a brother of yours, hoping to see you once more. Please, heed our call."
Lucy(?): [appears at the center of the circle]
Lincoln: "My God… Lu- Lucy?" [gasps]
Dante: "It- It worked!"
Persephone: "Shush. Don't ruin the ceremony."
Bertrand: "To whom… do I speak to?" [in solemnity]
Lucy(?): "It is I, Lucy Loud. Thank you for bringing my brother here." [smiles]
Lucy(?): "But I am afraid, that I cannot answer your questions about me. The clock is ticking. My time is short."
Lucy(?): "So… Lincoln." [turns to Lincoln]
Lincoln: "!" [sniffs]
Lucy(?): "Thank you for everything. You have lifted our eternal suffering." [smiles]
Lincoln: "G- Glad to hear that!" [cries]
Lucy(?): "However… your journey is not over yet. Lies ahead still, a series of obstacles. Stand firm, my brother." [glitches away]
Lincoln: "I… I will." [sobs, stands on his knees]
