Knuckles and Sonic ran and jumped from building to building. They hid under a ridge on the edge of the building as soon as they saw Manic and Tails being held by Babble's robot.

For codenames they had come up with Rebel for Sonic, Renegade for Knuckles and Nine for Tails.

"Who are you?" Nine asked Manic and the two resistance members got up on their feet.

"Tails! Manic!" Rebel said and covered her mouth.

"We'll get them back." Renegade said gently.

Then her Regulator beeped and a hologram of a member appeared.

"Hey, boss! You gotta get back to HQ now. There's something you gotta see." the member said and she turned off her Regulator.

Then they moved down a building. She jumped into and passed through a curved pipe, followed by him.

Underground three Resistance members watched a computer screen. Then the doors open, allowing Rebel and Renegade to walk past them and follow the Resistance member.

"Rebel Sonic, Renegade Knuckles, right over here." a member said and the door closed behind him.

Rebel typed on the computer screen and a recording of Manic is played.

"What happened?" Manic asked.

"Where the hell did he come from?" Renegade asked as they watched on suspiciously.

"He grew up in a city raised by thieves, he knows how to hide." Rebel said and they looked at the palm tree inside the glass cylinder. "I just wasn't expecting to see him."

"Let's get 'em out." he said and they ran away.

At Yoke HQ.

"Those in favor of stress-testing this green rabbit, say yes!" Done-It said.

"Oh, yes, please!" Deep said.

Inside, Manic was being tested inside a chamber and dodging weapon-fire.

"Let's see how powerful he is." Eggman said smirking a little.

Manic gulped nervously.

'She was right. He's not gone.' he thought.

Meanwhile, Rebel and Renegade moved cautiously across the landscape. A Security Drone's sensor saw Denizen 1998. They hid beside a building, then seized their chance.

Meanwhile Manic was jumping over some robots on a wobbly platform. He jumped through some crushing spikes traps at the right time. At the same time, Don't was playing a video game. The second screen showed his game screen, where he was in control of an eggmobile with a drill attached; meanwhile, the sensor detected Denizen 1998 again. He raised his shoulders in panic. A pink silhouette of Manic appeared on Rusty's monitor. She typed on the keyboard, while Manic in the chamber was running on a spinning propeller, while Eggman observed.

At New Yoke City Security Drones kept roaming around New Yoke City.

"Interrogation protocol engaged. Denizen 1-9-9-8, you were seen with the blue hedgehog. Explain yourself." Robot patrol said.

Rebel and Renegade landed onto a building, and walked slowly, looking ahead at Yoke HQ.

"There's a small chance we can get in through the ventilation system." Rebel said.

"How small?" Renegade asked.

"You don't wanna know. First, we have to get through the fortress firewall." she said and uploaded a map, with a white ball depicting them on a red road and the Pink rings indicate sensors. "If we set off its sensors, the guards will be on us like Robotnik's bad toupee." she said and a white double ring flashed at the top of the map. "They probably have Manic up there... in their lab."

"All right, stealth it is." Renegade said and she looked at him unconvinced. "What? I stealth!"

"Stealth is not your thing. But I'm sure Sonia would think it's adorable you're willing to try."

""Adorable"?!" he said and grunted.

"If it makes you feel better, before we can stealth properly," she said and patted his glove. "we need a diversion." she said and jumped on the ridge.

Back at Yoke HQ the Chaos Council, Nine, Rusty and an Eggforcer were watching Manic run around a hamster-ball like object. He ran and grunted while the ball generated sparks. As the room shook, the hedgehog silhouette appeared on Rusty's screen, but an indicator flashes red, while Eggman smiled and Tails watched Rusty's computer realizing something.

"Oh, I knew it! He's got almost the same energy that powers the city like Sonic." Nine said.

Manic screamed while he peeled as fast as he can inside the hamster-ball.

The ball overloaded, flashed and exploded the chamber in a massive shockwave in a blizzard of multicolored circles, causing the Chaos Council to flinch. The shockwave covered New Yoke City and caused power to go out as soon as it touched buildings.

Meanwhile Renegade and Rebel were afflicted by the shockwave and tossed in the air backwards. The shockwave kept causing power outages, including a huge airborne object which switched off and crashed down. Security drones dropped to the ground and broke in front of the Denizens, including Denizen 1998 who looked at it curiously while Rebel and Renegade got up.

Renegade chuckled.

"How's that for a diversion?" he asked.

"How the hell did that happen? He's not even close to as fast as me!" Rebel said and they walked a few paces, looking around the pitch black area. "The power just went out." she said miserably.

Denizen 1998 looked at the rest of the security drones, confused. Then he kicked one, causing it to fall flat. The resistance members did the same thing to other Security Drones while Denizen 1998 had a smile on his face.

"This has literally never happened." Rebel said.

"Feels more like a trap to me." Renegade said.

"I don't know. First, Manic shows up, and now New Yoke City loses its power." she said and remembered something.

Sonic watched as some robots approach.

"Uh oh. This is the worst if they get there first." she said and dashed her way over the hills to find Sonia and Manic standing beside the van.

"What is this?! Even you two slowpokes could have changed the tire by now. Sleet and Dingo are on their way to the Hanging Gardens. I'll run ahead while you two change the tires." she said.

"No. You change the tire, while I run ahead!" Sonia said and dashed away at sonic speed over the hills.

"Did you see that?! She did it, didn't she? She used the Tonic!"

"Hey sis, wait for me!" Manic said and blast away swiftly as Sonic watched concerned and gasped

"Manic's fast too!" she said, ran into the van and grabbed the small bottle of Tonic. "How could they both be so dumb? I'd better get after 'em... Before they start tripping over their own big feet!" she said and drove ahead in the van.

'He wouldn't, would he?'she thought.

"Ah, maybe you're right,- but it feels like a tra-a-a-ap!" Renegade said as Rebel grabbed him and jumped causing him to scream while she took out a Chaos Emerald.

"Chaos Control!" she said and they ended at Yoke HQ.

Metal clanged as they reached the ventilation room. They looked around in a cross-roads with Rebel leading the way.

Meanwhile, Manic hallucinated and fainted softly to the ground. He groaned, with his eyes still closed and the power went back on again. The Chaos Council and the Eggforcers got up. The power all around New Yoke City went back on and the Denizens looked up at the Security Drones spying on them.

"Denizens, order! Return to formation!" Robot patrol said and the Denizens jumped on the conveyor-belt.

"If it happened once, it could happen again! We gotta join the resistance!" someone said.

At Yoke HQ Eggman, without his toupee, felt his bald head and screamed.

"My toupee! My toupee!" he said, found it quickly and chuckled.

Done-It caned slowly towards his chair, but ended up pushing the chair further away with his cane.

"Ah, so help me... I tell ya what, I..." he said.

A Game Over screen and jingle played on Don't video game.

"Ugh! I almost had the high score!" he said angrily.

Rusty typed on the keyboard and a beep sounded. Manic was unconscious on the ground.

A ring-shaped generator hovered over him. Circular domes of electricity surround his gloves and shoes, attracting to the generator and he was lured into the main room. He grunted, struggling to break free of the generator's grasp, and puffed out.

"So, what do I get for passing the test?" he asked, snickered and sighed, panting in exhaustion.

"Did this green rat figure out a way to steal our power supply?" Done-It asked and a beep was heard on Rusty's monitor.

"Correction, Your Eminence. He did not draw on the city's power, but..." Rusty said.

"He brought his own." Nine said.

'Somehow.' he thought.

"What?! What do you mean, he brought his own? How does a hedgehog walk in here with the same power supply as our battery?" Deep asked and Done-It muttered to himself, while Manic chuckled.

"Incredible. Our crystal plus his energy charge would give us enough power to finally stamp out the resistance and put an end to those pesky rebels forever!" Eggman said and Babble babbled laser-zapping noises and giggled. "Uh, really? Don't you think that's a little excessive?" he asked and Babble babbled in anger, slamming his fist. "You heard the baby. Energy extractor." he said and steam flowed through the chute in the ceiling.

Babble smiled in excitement as the Extractor moved down from the chute and closed in on Manic's face, with two pointers sticking out.

"Cut out the prismatic energy he's got inside that prickly hide of his!" Done-It said and the extractor closed in on Manic who gulped.

"Looks like this is game over." he said and the Extractor glowed red and spun rapidly.

Eggman twiddled his fingers and smiled in excitement while Nine watched nervously and Manic tried blowing at the extractor, to no effect.

"See ya, kid." he said.

As Nine watched on in horror and Manic squeezes his eyes shut, the extractor was suddenly taken away from him at the last moment. Rebel arrived at the scene in her combat pose. The Chaos Council gasped in horror as Manic opened his eye and looked around just to check, realizing he no longer has the extractor threatening him.

"Huh?" he said

"Get her!" the Chaos Council said and the Eggforcers started chasing and shooting Rebel, around the Extractor chute.

Nine hid behind Rusty's computer when Renegade arrived bringing the vent with him.

"So, we done stealthing?" Renegade asked.

"One hundred percent." Rebel said.

Manic noticed the extractor's laser turned on. The two resistance members approach him, but were blocked by Rusty, who extended her arms and grabbed them, slamming them both into the wall and held them down.

"What's going on? I can't see. Wait, wait..." Manic said and the negative momentum of Rusty's pushing soon brought the extractor closer to him.

Then the red laser started breaking the generator's hinge.

"Wait!" he yelled and he and the hinge snapped off the ring of the generator and rolled while Renegade and Rebel ran freely.

"Filthy rebels. Destroy them!" Eggman said and Eggforcers enter and combat the resistance duo.

The Chaos Council flinched and were forced to flee thanks to broken robots being flown towards them. Another one almost hit Don't. Rebel grabbed an Eggforcer and slammed it into the wall, breaking it.

"Eggforcers, secure all targets." Rusty said and more Eggforcers emerge from an elevator to combat the resistance duo.

They charged at Renegade first, but he, with a war-cry grunt, knocked them all out with one punch. As Rusty left her post, Nine took over the computer and typed on it with his tails.

Meanwhile.

"Whoa!" Manic said rolling trapped in the generator's ring.

A Eggforcer knocked it and sent him into a spin, causing him to scream. While everything pans around him, the ring finally fell to the ground and he groaned. Nine hacked the computer, taking the circular domes of electricity off of him.

"Okay, hedgehog, you're up." Nine said.

"A bit woozy from all the lab testing." Manic said dizzy as he stood up and chuckled. "Sonic? Knuckles?" he said while Renegade punched an Eggforcer and Rebel carried Rusty in mid-air.

"Hey Manic." Rebel said another kicked Rusty down to the ground, but Rusty extended her arm up and took her down too.

She retracted her arm and Rebel kicked off and ran around after being chased by some Eggforcers.

"Rebel!" Renegade said and combated Rusty.

Rusty dodged two punches and grabbed him, tossing him and causing him to crash into the wall, where Manic watched on groaning.

"What is going on here?" he asked still dizzy but dodged punches from Eggforcers, leaned onto the wall and sighed. "Man, why is the room still spinning?"

Then a Eggforcer went for the ground pound on him, but he dodged by jumping onto the platform, and jumping on the Eggforcer's head. He spun and homing attacks the next three Eggforcers, after the third one, he bounced awkwardly.

"Whoa!" he said and hit the Extractor, sending the open laser spinning around tearing a long line along the wall and the floor.

Rebel evaded the laser, which destroyed an Eggforcer instead.

"Ugh, feels like their luck ran out." Renegade said.

"What luck are you talking of?" Rebel asked as the laser kept tearing around the room.

It headed towards the Chaos Council and they all ducked as the laser cut off the tops of their chairs.

"Never mind." she said and the Chaos Council screamed and dashed into the elevator.

The elevator took them into a safe place while Eggforcers communicate. One of them started attacking Renegade who took it down with one punch. The second one went for the ground pound, but he jumped up behind it and punched it, colliding it into the third one causing both of them to fall down. The fourth one also got punched while Nine typed on the computer. A buzzer sounded as he typed an incorrect password, with a symbol of Don't appearing on his screen laughing.

Annoying, Nine typed the password again incorrectly.

"Access denied." Don't said.

Furious, Nine screamed and banged his fists on the keyboard, while the laser closed in on a dizzy Manic. It just missed in front of him. Rusty landed in a fury and attacked him with a flying fist. He dodged. With him still dizzy, Rusty punched him in the face, while Nine typed the password, once again triggering the incorrect buzzer.

"Uh-uh-uh." Don't said and Nine typed again, with an Eggforcer close to him.

He used his other tails to lure it into the extractor's laser and destroying it. Renegade dodged attacks from another Eggforcer and punched it into oblivion. He went for Nine, who stopped him with one of his tails while still typing the password.

"No. I got this Renegade." Nine said.

Renegade looked at one of Nine's metallic tails, becoming suspicious, before returning to battle and Nine typed the password incorrectly yet again.

"Ha, ha, loser!" Don't said and Nine growled in anger.

Meanwhile, Manic, cornered to the wall, dodged a few arm attacks from Rusty, but got caught this time. She swung and slammed him to the ground, and then into the wall. With him completely trapped, she prepared one last fist attack. It along with the crosshairs aim at a yelping Manic.

"Green hedgehog, terminate." Rusty said and retracted her right arm and her whole body flew towards him
