Eggforcers and Security Drones were looking around for possible members of the Resistance.
"Squad Commander Blue, this is Squad Commander Red. Initiate Operation: Cheese." Squad Commander Red said.
"Possible rebel suspect. Inspection initiated. Scanning for rebel soldiers. Resistance icon identified." Eggforcers said.
Just as the Eggforcers were going to continue their search, they heard a loud bang around them and turned about to see an Egg Drone had been shot down by a member of the Resistance.
"It's a trap." Eggforcers said.
"Now!" Squad Commander Red and the members of the Resistance started shooting at the Eggforcers with laser guns.
Renegade was in lead of defending the members. A few seconds later, Rusty appeared and saw the Eggforcers being taken down. She ran over to where the Eggforcers were trying to escape from to see what was going on, only to find that the Resistance were taking down the Eggforcers.
"Recording initiated." Rusty said.
"Eat plasma, you dirty bots." Squad Commander Red said.
Meanwhile a portal appeared and Silver came out of it.
"Silver hedgehog detected." Rusty said.
"Whoa!" Silver said. "What the hell happened?" he said then heard Renegade screaming and looked ahead to see he was taking down most of the Eggforcers with the Resistance. "Knuckles?"
"For a better tomorrow!" Renegade said and hit two of the robots with a metal pipe. "Who's with me?!"
The Eggforcers were shooting at the Resistance, when one of the lasers hit Silver and he fell down, hurting himself. He quickly got up and dodged a few lasers being fired at him, then was spun around by two of the Resistance members running past him.
Renegade noticed him.
"Silver? What are you doing here?" Renegade asked and pushed away an Eggforcer flying towards him.
Rusty moved in to get a closer look.
"Knuckles, what the hell is going on?" Silver asked and took down an Eggforcer.
"It's a long story." Renegade said and they took down Eggforcers at the same time. "And it's Renegade right now. Sonic is Rebel and Tails is Nine."
"Where is Tails? I mean Nine? And Rebel?" Silver asked and sighed. "This is gonna take some getting used to."
"Nine? We don't know." Renegade said and spin attacked all of the Eggforcers.
Silver spun on top of the heap of robots and peeled out on top of each one, tossing them to collide into airborne Eggforcers. An Eggforcer was checked by Squad Commander Red and Rebel, shooting lasers.
"Retreat." Eggforcer said and the last robot retreated.
The Resistance cheered, while Rusty left. Silver kept celebrating by laughing until Renegade confronted him, causing him to stop.
"What?" Silver asked.
"Come on." Renegade said and walked away from Silver. "All right. Everybody scatter." he said and everyone including the Resistance scatter in various places, while a Security Drone hovered in, patrolling the scene.
At Yoke HQ the Chaos Council were gathered around.
"First, they steal our energy crystal. Now these ants decide to stand up for themselves? How dare they." Eggman said annoyed and slammed his fist then Babble gibbered an idea.
"The baby is right. We won't rest until every last rebel has been sentenced to-" Deep said and slammed his fist. "oblivion."
"Or until our backup power runs out." Don't scoffed while playing a video game.
Then a door whirled open and Rusty came in.
"A hedgehog named Silver is here." Rusty said and uploaded her recorded footage watched by the Council.
It showed Silver come; followed by him battling the Eggforcers.
"Knuckles, what the hell is going on?" Silver asked.
"Where did he come from?" Eggman asked.
"Where is Tails? I mean Nine? And Rebel? This is gonna take some getting used to." Silver asked.
"We have to find that hedgehog." Eggman said.
'With the third hedgehog here it'll be hard. Hopefully it won't turn into all three.' he thought. 'Or worse, all five.'
"If my readings are correct, the last indication of his energy was in Deep's District." Rusty said.
"Let's smoke them out. Send in the bots." Deep said and Babble laughed.
Under the ground, Denizen 1998 passed a weapon to a Resistance member when Silver appeared with Renegade.
"I take it you radioed ahead and let Rebel know what's what." Silver said to Renegade.
"I did." Renegade said and Silver nodded.
"Look who decided to drop in. Welcome back. Here to face the music?" Rebel said with her back turned.
"Depends what kind of music. Am I sensing a negative vibe?" Silver asked and she turned to him.
"What are you doing here?"
"Uh, I thought you explained everything." Silver said quietly to Renegade.
"I did. She didn't care." Renegade said. "She's changed." he said and Silver became worried.
"The rodent is lying. Let's toast him." Squad Commander Red said.
"I came to check on you guys." Silver said.
"Nine left and didn't tell us anything, right before he left us high and dry." Renegade said.
"He did?" Silver said miserably.
"And he won't get back to me when I call him." Rebel said.
Rebel, Renegade and Rusty were sat down, cornered by shooting Eggforcers.
"After sticking our necks out like we did." Rebel said.
Eggman used his mech to keep the door open, observing Manic get sucked in by the Red Prism Shard. Manic screamed. Afterwards, Nine shook off his misery and retrieved the shard with an electric grabber, which coincidentally turned off the power. Then the power turned back on.
"Backup systems engaged." the computer said.
"They have the energy crystal!" Eggman said and Don't accessed the door's code.
"Got it." Don't said.
Then the door opened and he, Eggman and Deep pass through, unknowingly passing by Nine, crawling upside-down passing the doorway in the other direction, holding the shard. He crawled around the walls, noticed by the rebels then stopped and looked at them, until he heard a voice from afar.
"Find them. They can't be far." Eggman said and Nine kept crawling around the walls until he found a safe place to jump off and land.
He jumped over the doorway wedged open by an Eggforcer, to dramatic music and the rebels' horror. Renegade growled in anger with the screen closing in on him, and attacked and destroyed the Eggforcers in fury. He carried an unconscious Rebel through Yoke HQ's exit and jumped down. Rusty beeped and malfunctioned.
"Initiating system override. Chaos Council programming restored." Rusty said and moved back inside.
While Denizen 1998 was fishing inside a skip, The rebels fell with a thud, causing him to notice. The Rebels looked up at an angry Denizen 1998, then he offered them a lift and carried the two Resistance members around his arms and ran.
Later many members of the resistance were equipping themselves with weapons.
"Word of our work spread throughout the city. Our army grew without you or Nine." Rebel said. "And, tonight, we finally finish what we started."
"Jesus." Silver said.
'She really has changed.' he thought.
"All that matters right now is taking out the council while we still can." Renegade said.
"If they get that energy crystal back, we're done for." Rebel said.
"Nine won't let that happen." Silver said. "We all know that. You literally raised him when you took him in!"
"You tell us where he is and we'll make sure he doesn't." Renegade said threatening Silver. "We know she took him in but things change."
"How would I know?"
"Well after the way you treated us when we first met wasn't that great. So it can be hard to trust you even though you helped us with Infinite." Renegade said and the Resistance arrest Silver.
"Come on, boss." Squad Commander Red said turning the gun to face Renegade. "Let me tear this scoundrel limb from limb." she said before turning it to Silver's face.
"That would be- terrible." Silver said and pushed Squad Commander Red's gun down. "And I deserve that."
"Jokes? After all we've been through? Don't you understand what's at stake?" Rebel asked annoyed and a whirring was coming from a circular platform on the ground.
The cylinder ascended and a Palm tree appeared inside the cylinder.
"It's a symbol of the life we deserve, growing and thriving in peace." she said miserably.
"If we lose this fight, there won't be anything left to fight for." Renegade said and Silver touched the cylinder, and took a closer look at the palm tree.
"The palm." Silver said and became guilty and miserable. "I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me, but I'm not a traitor and neither is Nine. Let me prove it to you. Let me fight by your side."
A heavy thudding sound alerted and annoyed everybody. The camera cut to the ceiling, where the thudding was coming from.
"It's the Chaos Council." Rebel said and walked to the computer. "They've located us." she said, pressed a key and looked at a webcam showing Eggforcers walking along the road.
One of them landed in the middle of the camera's view and chattered to their fellow robots. He shot into the camera and disabled it.
"Damnit." Rebel muttered. "Secure the tree!" she shouted.
"How did they find us? It can't be a coincidence." Squad Commander Red said annoyed.
"Everyone up top before our location is compromised."
'This is a serious repeat of when I was a Freedom Fighter and Sonic Underground.' Rebel thought as the cylinder descended and the Resistance ran away.
Silver stood there, watching the Palm Tree in misery come then had a determined look, and ran off.
At the Overground Eggforcers marched together looking around for suspects.
"They are somewhere near. Continue the attack. We will force them out." Eggforcer said.
"Not on my watch, automaton." Squad Commander Red said hiding behind a rock and fired a laser cutting through and destroying a robot.
The shooting commenced as an Eggforcer shot and broke a rock. Cutting ahead of the broke resistance, Silver spin dashed towards them and homing attacked three of them, before spinning into Eggman's Mech, however, he parried him away, causing him to hurtle to the wall. He groaned and slid to the ground when Babble arrived to battle in his mech, taking on Renegade now without his weapon. They fist into each other, but Babble was blown back, giggled and angrily deployed a large red laser back at him, but Rebel used a Chaos Control to grab him and carried him away from the attack just in time and got him to safety, only to get punched by Babble's robot, knocking them both out. Denizen 1998 defeated more robots using the metal pipe and kicking attacks. His pipe clashed with the Mech of Deep's sword.
"Surrender the energy crystal and we'll promise to make your demise quick and- painless." Deep said and pointed his sword at Denizen 1998 face.
Squad Commander Red and two other members were cornered by Eggforcers.
"We need backup." Squad Commander Red said.
Babble yelled and landed in-front of a downed Renegade. He groaned and stayed down. Meanwhile, Eggman approached Rebel but looked up at the sky as Nine swooped down through the portal gateway with his plane.
"Sonic, hang on!" Nine said.
"Nine?" Rebel, Renegade and Silver said as everyone watched Nine swoop into the area.
"You got the Tornado... kinda." Rebel said as all of the Chaos Council appeared in five different screens.
"Wait. Was that an energy portal?" the Chaos Council asked.
"How did he do that?" Eggman asked.
"It's the fox who stole the Shard. Get him!" Deep said and the Eggforcers shot lasers at Nine's plane.
It corkscrews to dodge the lasers, while Rebel ran, carrying Squad Commander Red and three other resistance members to safety and Nine was shooting Babble's robot. It turned around and shot Deep down as Silver went after the plane, but was confronted by shooting Eggforcers. He spin jumped and Homing Attacked some robots in a line leading up to the plane. Nine smiled and opened the doors for Silver to hop in.
"Nine! Holy, man. Just in time!" Silver said and shook the back of his chair. "We could really use some backup."
Silver screamed and he flew through the void.
"Silver!" Renegade said as the battling between the Resistance and the Chaos Council continued.
Meanwhile Squad Commander Red retreated.
"I'm out." Rebel said.
"Same." Renegade said, dropped his weapon and picked up a metal pipe. "Lousy Egg tech. You can't trust it."
"Where the hell did they go?
"I don't have a clue."
Suddenly, Eggman appeared in his mech, slamming the ground with a puff of smoke. He, Babble and Deep confront the Resistance.
"Surrender the energy crystal." Deep said.
"Or tell us where the other hedgehog went. We're not picky." Eggman said.
"We don't know where they are." Rebel said.
"And wouldn't tell you if we did." Renegade said.
"And you need to be specific about hedgehog. Are you asking about Sonia, Manic, Shadow or Silver?" she asked smirking and he snickered.
Then Eggman put his mech up Rebel's face, pointing at her.
"Spill it, punks, or we'll spill something else." he said.
"I got a better idea. How about you bums line up and kiss my bright red…" Renegade started when a portal generated above them, causing them to look upwards.
"Another portal?" Deep said.
Suddenly Silver arrived through the gateway, hit Eggman with a Homing Attack so big that it threw and knocked all the mechs out and joined the Resistance, while Babble thrashed about in his mech. The Resistance were annoyed about his lateness.
"Uh, I know, I know. No more vanishing into thin air. Let's just beat these guys to a pulp and if you still think I'm a traitor, then you can screw- my baloney." Silver said and the shooting started, causing everyone to duck.
"Better late than never." Renegade said.
"That's the spirit."
The Resistance started attacking. Renegade and Rebel dodged laser fire and took out Eggforcers, followed by Silver. Babble got up and screamed, combating the Resistance. Then he slapped Renegade and Silver away. Silver appeared running along the wall.
"Hey! Play nice." Silver said, Homing Attacked Babble, knocked him down and stepped on the button. "Isn't it past your bedtime?" he asked and ducked to dodge a sword attack from Deep, then spun back to dodge another attack.
As soon as he landed, Rebel grabbed him, evading him from a stomp by Eggman. Then she Homing attacked him, causing him to wobble. Renegade jumped down and threw a Ninja Rope, wrapping it around the mech's right leg while the Resistance were ready with the other Ninja Rope.
"Get ready to give it everything you got." Squad Commander Red said and threw the Ninja Rope, wrapping it around the mech's other leg. "Pull!" she said and they both pulled the ropes simultaneously.
Eggman tried to keep his balance while Rebel landed back down, watching the trapped mech suit and joined the Squad Commanders and grabbed hold of the rope.
"Let's see what you're made of, blue. Hit the jets." Squad Commander Red and they pulled together, Rebel peeling out while she pulled.
The mech landed on its body, knocking it out. Above him, Rebel battled Deep. They glided into each other and he kept attacking her with his sword. Babble gibbers and got up, attacking the Resistance with a stomp.
"Comin' in hot. Take cover!" Squad Commander Red said and they dodge as Babble stomped then ran away.
"How is a baby so mean?" Silver asked, was clubbed by Babble's right hand and thrown into the wall.
He groaned and fell to the ground, while Babble clapped and sang. With more members of the Resistance running away, Renegade looked up, watching the ongoing battle between Rebel and Deep. He hit her with the sword and she screamed as she was knocked down, to Renegade's horror.
"Rebel!" he said, ran to try and save her, but Deep's sword dropped into and stuck onto the road in front of him, causing him to stop.
Deep swooped down and attacked Renegade, causing him to hit the wall.
"Ah-ah-ah." Deep said.
Rebel was also knocked down to the ground face down while Babble's mech stepped on top of her and gibbers. Silver was also knocked out and Eggman picked him up and chuckled.
"A noble effort." he said and Babble grunted in annoyance.
"It wasn't noble. It was annoying." Deep said and Eggman opened the top of his mech and looked out.
"Enough games." Eggman said. "Hand over the crystal, or we'll stick you in a hamster wheel and see how long you can keep the lights on before you drop." he said to Silver and Babble gibbered angrily.
"Pace yourself, Dr. Babble."
"And while we're at it, do tell about another world with another Shard. That's what you're calling the energy crystal, aren't you? We're all ears."
"Really? I mean, I'd say you're more jowls but I honestly have no idea what you're talking about." Silver said and tried to use his powers but failed.
Rebel embarrassingly rolled her eyes and flopped while Silver turned to Eggman.
"Gulp." he said and Eggman squeezes him with his hand.
Rebel groaned and Deep pinned Renegade with the sword.
"You will talk, cretin, or you will scream." Eggman said and Silver sighed.
Suddenly, the portal opened and Nine swooped down with his plane, almost hitting Eggman's mech but ducked.
"Did he just do that portal thingy again?" he asked while Nine swooped up, U-turned, and swooped down, shooting lasers which hit him and knocked him out.
Silver broke free of the mech's grasp with a spin jump. Cross-hairs lock on to Nine's plane and a beeping sound was heard.
"My scan indicates he has the Shard. There is heavy prismatic energy on the craft." Rusty said as Babble, The prism shard, and Deep appeared in three different screens.
"This confirms everything we've suspected." Deep said.
"And more. The Shard was never just an energy source." Eggman said and Tornado shot again, hitting Babble's mech and freeing Rebel.
It returned to shoot at Deep, freeing Renegade. Silver peeled out side-by-side with Tornado.
"Nine, you came!" Silver said happily.
"When this is over, I'm going home and never looking back. Whether I go it alone is entirely up to you." Nine said annoyed.
"I knew you'd come back, buddy." Silver said and hopped onto the side of Tornado.
It U-turned laterally, turning Silver upside-down. The Chaos Council appeared in five different screens.
"He's using our Shard's energy to teleport somehow." Deep said.
"He's not teleporting. That fox has figured out how to travel to other worlds. The plan has changed. We need to capture that craft. Deep, Babble, full volley at the rebel HQ." Eggman said and Deep and Babble followed orders and left. "I'll lure the fox away. Don't, Done-It, prepare the mothership." he said and moved back into his cockpit.
Don't and Done-It, the latter shaking his head looking at him.
"Yeah. Fine. Whatevs." Don't said.
While the plane flew high, Silver watched the ongoing battle from a Bird's eye view.
"I'll take 'em low. You take 'em high." Silver said.
"Already on it." Nine said and Silver jumped off the Tornado and Homing Attacked three Eggforcers, followed by another three and joined Rebel. "You OK?" he asked and she nodded. "We're back on. Let's take these clowns down once and for all."
"Once again, better late than never." Rebel said.
"Hey, I never let you down, Rebel." Silver said and Rebel stopped shooting for a second.
"When you say "never," you do mean-" Rebel said and poked him. ""all the time?"" she and they duck to dodge an attack.
"No time for small talk." he said and she Homing Attacked a small group of Eggforcers.
The other group ascend, but were shot down by lasers from the Tornado and Eggman saw it swooping upwards.
'The Tornado.' he thought and went up to chase it, firing red lasers at him.
"What an amateur. Time to put some scuff marks on that fancy paint job." Nine said, rolled the Tornado 360 degrees and corkscrewed down close to the road.
Eggman's mech scraped the road and caused sparks. Nine swooped up close to the building. With nowhere else to go, he corkscrewed the Tornado one way and then the other way, unable to shake off his tail. They shoot at each other and Nine pressed a button, while Eggman laughed.
"I've got this weasel on the run. Prepare for launch!" Eggman said.
Don't closed his game and tapped on the controls on his controller and a beep sounded as The Mothership launched.
"Time to go home." Deep said and he and Babble ascend and left.
"Eggforcers, keep them distracted." Rusty said.
Nine's battle with Eggman was ongoing when Nine noticed the Mothership leaving the building. It turned upside-down and floated away, to his annoyance.
"Fox shmox, what we've got here is a sitting duck." Eggman said.
With Nine distracted, he shot at the Tornado, hitting and exploding one of the turbines and Nine struggled to keep control of his plane.
"No, no, no, no!" Nine said.
Then The Mothership opened up a suction tube of a bright yellow light. The Tornado froze and was sucked in. Nine tried to shield himself from the light then to get the Tornado working again.
"Come on, come on, come on. One more portal and I'm home free." he said and pressed a button but it powered down. "Nooo..." he said and the three Chaos Council mechs surrounded him, making him afraid while Eggman cackled.
"Rusty, the vermin is on the bus. I repeat, the vermin is on the bus." Eggman said.
"Eggforcers, finish them off. We have what we need." Rusty said, left and ran towards the Mothership, while the Eggforcers continue shooting.
Meanwhile Silver slid sideways to dodge and then prepared a spin dash from the side to knock the first robot out. Renegade pound the ground, lifting rocks up in the air. He punched one of the rocks into the second robot while Rebel jumped onto the third one and hit it on the head, knocking it down then they cheered.
"Yes! We did it! You guys good?" Silver asked.
"We're good. Not sure what happened to Nine though." Renegade said and looked at Rebel.
She looked strong but he saw the worry and trauma through her eyes.
"I don't like this. The Shard could be anywhere." Rebel said with her arms crossed.
"You're right. I better find him before he portals out of here again. Back in a flash!" Silver said, ran in a circle around Rebel and Renegade, whom flinch.
It was revealed that Squad Commander Red also flinched.
"I still don't trust that guy." Squad Commander Red said.
Meanwhile the three mechs, along with the Tornado, were sucked into the Mothership.
"With our Shard and your tech, you've just handed us the universe on a silver platter." Eggman said to Nine and laughed maniacally.
Back in New Yoke City, the Chaos Council's Yoke HQ was flying in the sky and Silver was standing with Rebel and Renegade.
"Yes, we did it! Rebel, Knucks, you good?" Silver asked while Rebel and Renegade were standing side-by-side together.
"We're good. Not sure what happened to Nine, though." Renegade said and squeezed Rebel's hand.
"I don't like this. The Shard could be anywhere." Rebel said.
"I better find him before he portals out of here again. Back in a flash!" Silver said, ran off and started looking around for Nine. "Nine? Nine...? Nine?" he said and keptm running forward, until looking up into the sky. "What in the..." he said. "Where did that thing come from? I better check it out." he said, started running agai performing a Super Peel Out when Prism Energy started reverberating around his body. "Huh? What's going on?" he asked, became determined and started running even faster, to the point where he warped out of the world.
Inside Yoke HQ, an Eggforcer was configuring the generator.
"Well, if it isn't our favorite... What are you anyway? Possum? Weasel?" Done-It asked Nine.
"If you wanna see a weasel, just look in the mirror." Nine said and was zapped by an electric tazer. "Yikes!"
"Enough! I have one question for you, and you need to answer it very, very carefully." Deep said to him.
"You've already stolen my Shatter Drive technology. What else do you want?"
"There's a whole Shatterverse of other worlds for us to conquer. And to do that, we'll need this mothership fully operational." Eggman said and left.
"Figure it out yourselves."
"Or we could figure out how to take you apart piece by piece. It's up to you." Don't said while Babble babbled and laughed.
