It was night and a few kids were play around the area.
They hadn't seen Silver in a while and knew Nine was working for Eggman as their spy now like Rouge during the war.
"Can you believe it? This is everything we hoped for." Rebel said relaxed.
"Kids playin' with busted up Eggforcers?" Renegade asked and she rolled her eyes.
"Not that. Freedom. With the Chaos Council gone, we can finally make New Yoke City what we want, what its citizens deserve... return our home to what it was. All the trees..."
"And the beaches..." he said and they heard a rumble and looked up at the sky as a Portal opened and they braced themselves. "This can't be good." he said and they made their way to the top of a building for a closer look at the portal.
The Mother Ship appeared out of it, with someone clinging on to the edge of the aircraft.
"This be more... than I bargained for!" the echidna said grunting, fell off and screamed while Silver was clinging on.
"Dread? Dreaaaad!" Silver said, leapt off and approached to Dread's level while falling.
They held hands and Silver spun Dread around and tossed him towards a building, landing safely.
Meanwhile, Silver lost control and fell into the trash skip with the lid closing above him.
"Yuck!" he said and Dread got up and stared at the still-airborne Spaceship, growling.
"Me beauty." Dread said as the Spaceship beeped while it trudged to land inside the pod, with Eggman as pilot.
It landed perfectly, lighting up New Yoke City while Renegade and Rebel were dismayed.
"No..." Rebel said feeling a panic attack coming.
"So much for everything we hoped for." Renegade said and held her close. "It's OK. We'll get through this." he said gently and she nodded calming down.
Meanwhile some kids were playing with Eggforcer parts when the robots became rejuvenated, forcing them to stand back.
"Sorry, Mr. Eggforcer." Denizen Wolf said as two rebels were spied upon by Eggforcers.
"Oh, coconuts." Renegade said.
Inside the Spaceship.
"Ah, can't you just taste the soot and ozone." Eggman said relaxed.
"We never should've left it in the hands of these ignorant peasants!" Done-It is grunting disgustingly.
"But we've already discussed this!" Eggman said angrily. "Leaving to gather three Shards was the prudent decision. Now we'll be powerful enough to make short work of them." he said normally.
"You know I can't plan for a shatterversal domination with all those rebellion ingrates making a rocket! And didn't that dag-blasted rebellion start in your neighborhood?"
"Rebels joined from all five districts. Besides, their hideout was in Deep's district."
"We should just burn your district to ash!" Babbles said.
"Someone needs to feed the baby. He's cranky." Don't said.
"Save this negative energy for later. Each of us has to clean up his own house, so we can make a beautiful mess of reality." Deep said and Babble started yelling so he handed him a pyramid-shaped juice box to use as a baby bottle.
Meanwhile New Yoke Residents were running away from an onslaught of Eggforcers terrorizing the place. Renegade fended off a few of them with his fists.
"Rescue op, street side, now!" he said and they saw two kids being cornered by two Eggforcers.
Rebel jumped down, kicked the robots away with her feet and took the kids up to safety.
Meanwhile, Silver started searching around the place, looking for Dread.
"Dread? Dread? Dread? Where are you?" Silver asked.
Behind him, he heard and saw smashed robot parts flung up in the air, followed by Rebel carrying the two kids.
"It's the rebels!" he said and Rebel took out another robot then landed the kids to a safe place and returned to Renegade.
"It's madness out here." Renegade said.
"It's hopeless." Rebel said and they were approached by three more Eggforcers, but were instantly wiped out by Silver's Spin Attack.
Then Silver returned to meet them, standing on top of the rail.
"Missed me?" Silver asked and the rebels became annoyed.
"Silver?" Rebel said.
"I shoulda known when everything went bad, that you'd show up." Renegade said with his arms crossed.
"Hey, I'm here to help!" Silver said.
"Except you always seem to make things worse." Rebel said and an Eggforcer slammed into Silver, but he dodged.
He prepared a Spin Dash on top of the downed Eggforcer to break it.
At Spaceship Eggman pressed a button on the screen, showing Silver being chased by Eggforcers.
"The cerulean simpleton again?!" Done-It said angrily in ascending tone.
"He is the definitive bug in our game." Don't said as Deep entered the room.
"Peace, my brothers. The White Blight currently infests my district, and I will purge him like toxins after a juice cleanse. But first," Deep said and typed on the keyboard. "let us secure our own Nest Egg..." he said and the kids ran away while the shutter closed. "And give the rebels a little something to keep them busy."
"What makes you so sure you'll exterminate the rodent? He's bested you at every turn! Got any new ideas?" Done-It said.
"Actually, no. Nothing new." Deep said and three Eggforcers emerge past the door. "I'm going to recycle."
In the city the Eggforcers kept terrorizing the place, with kids whimpering and screaming and running in panic while Silver kept eliminating the robots with Homing Attacks.
"Come on, don't let Sonic get in all the good licks!" Renegade said and he and Rebel took down more robots.
They worked together on another Eggforcer, only for it to be finished off by Silver, who then stepped in and met the gang.
"It's great to see you guys again, it really is, but I..." Silver started but was grabbed by the shoulders and turned to by Renegade.
"Answers! Where did you come from?!" Renegade said annoyed.
"Well..." Silver said and told him what happened.
"Pirates? I hate pirates." Renegade said and Silver was then grabbed in the arm by Rebel.
"You let the Council get their hands on" Rebel said and grabbed him tighter. "more shards?!" she said and let go of him]
"Technically, yes. But don't worry, I've got a plan. I'm on my way to fix it right now." Silver said.
"We've heard that before!" she said annoyed.
"I'm gonna bust into the Yoke, grab the Shards and rescue Nine."
"Nine? The one who stole the Shard?"
"I know he's a little rough around the edges..." he said stammering.
"It's not just the edges." she said. "Not anymore. He's changed a lot.
"...but he saved you!"
"And then he disappeared again." Renegade said.
"Because he was captured! We can trust him."
"Him? We don't even trust you!" Renegade said suspiciously and pointed his glove to his face who Silver put his arm down.
"Fine. I don't need you guys slowing me down anyway." Silver said and prepared to take off. "I'll just..." he started but Rebel covered his mouth.
"Quiet!" she said as series of propeller-topped robots floated down from the sky and approached the gang, whom prepare themselves for combat as one robot chased a kid along a road. "Those machines, they've never been so fast. Or this aggressive." she said and one robot grabbed a kid with its fingers and Renegade took off.
"Which is exactly why I need to get into the Yoke like, yesterday. The Shards are what matters."
"Go on, then. Don't let us slow you down." she said and she and Renegade took care of more Eggforcers, while Silver waited at the top of the building.
"It's fine. They can handle it." he said determined. "Focus on the Shards, focus on the Shards..." he said and started running down a building. "Uh, why am I running into battle?" he said, jumped and clung onto a Propeller bot trapping a kid.
He broke free of the robot's hold, sending a kid screaming and falling down, landing into the arms of Denizen 1998 and Froggy croaked. Rebel defeated another Propeller-bot as three more chased Renegade, who hid behind a building segment. He pounded the ground to scoop it up in the air and punched it towards another Propeller Bot. Then Rebel returned to him, but suddenly, a horde of Eggforcers confront them, only to be finished off by Silver's Spin Attack. They ran across a road but were stopped and surrounded by more Eggforcers, which were once again knocked out by Silver with his Homing Attack, including one more from airborne. Then he returned to the gang.
"Well, it's been a blast, but I gotta get to the Yoke." Silver said and prepared to take off, but Rebel stopped him.
"We're going with you." she said.
"What?" he asked annoyed.
"We're all heading to the Yoke." she said and Renegade shook his head in disagreement.
"Why would we go to the Yoke?" Renegade asked and picked up a robot part. "The streets are crawling with Eggbots again!"
"Now that the Council is back and more powerful than ever, we have to take the fight to them."
"No one likes a good dust-up more than me, you know that, Rebel, but these grunts are green. We need to get underground." he said and Silver swaggered off slowly.
"Love that you're talking this out, but I should've been there already. I can't wait around..." Silver said but Rebel angrily stepped in front of him.
"You're gonna have to! This is bigger than you, Silver. Bigger than Infinite, Metal Sonic and Metal Virus together. If you fail, and the Chaos Council keeps the Shards, we're finished. And I'm not letting that happen." she said and calmed down. "I know this isn't what we do. We stick to the shadows, we fight from the shadows, but this time, there's just too much at stake. We have to bring the fight right to them."
"Maybe there's a way we can do both." Renegade said.
At Yoke HQ.
"We should make it bigger!" Done-It said angrily.
"Big surprise that Dr. Slouch wants it taller." Eggman said.
"Give it Buzzsaws!" Babble said and giggled.
Then Nine cleared his throat and appeared with some Eggforcers.
"You rang for me?" Nine said.
"How long are we putting up with him?" Don't asked annoyed.
"He's built us what we want, get rid of him already." Deep said.
"Now, now. We're going to put him to work, but this one possesses a, shall we say, less-dull mind than the usual riff-raff? He'll appreciate this." Eggman said.
"Appreciate what?" Nine asked.
"What we've built, of course." Eggman said and he and Babble displayed the Shard generator astonishing Nine.
"You're harnessing the energy of all three Shards? That much power is..."
"Incalculable? Indeed." Deep said.
"No, it isn't! Just make them bigger!" Done-It said.
"What are you guys doing?" Nine asked.
"The rat is confused. Perhaps a demonstration is in order. Dr. Don't? If you wouldn't mind." Eggman said.
"Whatevs." Don't said and pressed a button.
The generator unleashed an electrical dome homing in on a broken Eggforcer. It shone a bright light. After a moment, it was rejuvenated into a Jumbo Eggforcer and Nine looked at it in surprise.
At Railway Station a tram rode along the tracks the gang walked down the steps quietly. They stopped, but Silver bumped into Renegade, prompting him to growl angrily back at him.
Soon the rest of the team followed by Denizen 1998 and two denizen soldiers. On the other side of the Railway were a series of Propeller-bots roaming the area. The gang ran, hid to another spot and peeped through the wall.
"What's the plan, Rebel?" Renegade asked.
"We need to get into the tunnels on the other side of the station. Using them, we'll be able to get in close to the Yoke HQ with less attention than on the streets." Rebel said.
"So we just gotta get past these chumps first?" he said and scoffed. "No sweat."
They hid back in and ran past a tube, but the propeller bots were right in front of them as they exit. They combat the robots and Rebel Spin dashed up the barricade of a stairway and jumped to defeat a Propeller-Bot, followed by a Homing Attack before kicking away another bot. One of the soldiers was grabbed by a Propeller Bot and was dragged into the rail's path. A horn honked, causing him to scream, but Renegade saved him as the tram passed through, knocking out the bot. Silver slid under another Propeller Bot to dodge its grab and Denizen 1998 grabbed the Propeller Bot's arms, allowing the soldier to shoot its propellers while another Propeller-Bot was destroyed by a tram.
"Way to put the "team" in "teamwork," everybody! Oh, looks like you can handle yourselves, so maybe I'll just take off." Rebel said and set off, but a door rumbled and opened, unveiling some larger Eggforcers, causing them stand back.
"Those things are huge." Renegade said.
"Okay, seriously, what's with all the upgrades?" she asked and they looked at each other with an idea what's causing it.
Back at Yoke HQ Nine was watching footage of the railway on the screen.
"Enjoying the show?" Eggman asked.
"It won't be enough." Nine said.
"Not enough? Balderdash! My Jumbo Eggforcers will pound that varmint into blueberry jelly!"
"We'll see."
"Yes, we will. You admire him, don't you? For all of your bluster, you think of him as a friend. Funny, I thought you were smart." Eggman said and Nine kept looking.
Back at the Railway Station the bigger robot confront Rebel and her team. It prepared to jump on top of them, forcing them to clear out onto the rail tracks.
"Whoa." Silver said.
"Knucks, we'll handle this one. Can you clear the exit?" Rebel asked and Silver saluted and got to work while she pointed. "Let's move." she said and she and Renegade took on the large Eggforcer.
Renegade tapped its leg, distracting it, while Rebel jumped around it and delivered a punch. Meanwhile, Denizen 1998 was caught by two Propeller Bots, but Silver defeated them, leaving Denizen 1998 to fall to the ground and Silver gave him a thumb up, but another horn honked in the distance as two more soldiers confront the Giant Eggforcer in the middle of the tracks. Silver alerted and rescued the soldiers off the tracks as the tram zoomed by, but was blocked by the heavy Eggforcer. He seized his chance and got to the top of the stranded Eggforcer by breaking off a part. The robot pushed the tram along the rails and flicked him away. Denizen 1998 used the part as a gun and took aim, firing and knocking down two Eggforcers.
"Let's go!" Rebel said and the gang ran into the track's tunnel.
Back at Yoke HQ.
"Sweet corn! They destroyed my babies! My big, beautiful babies!" Done-It said.
"So much for "just make them bigger." Next time, try laser eyes." Deep said.
"Buzzsaws!" Babble said.
"Flamethrowers are tight." Don't said while playing a video game.
"Buzzsaws!"
"Flamethrowers!" Don't said and Eggman groaned in anger.
"Enough!" Eggman said and Don't paused his game.
"So, which one are we doing?" Don't asked and Eggman scoffed.
"I don't -care!" Eggman said, grabbed Nine and dragged him away. "Do whatever you want." he said and the rest of the group looked at each other.
In the city as three Eggforcers roam together, Silver watched on from the tunnel's opening. Down below, Lines of Eggforcers march along the road while the rest of the gang joined him.
Rebel gasped.
"I'm starting to think this was a bad idea. They've never had this many Eggforcers, and they've never been this tough." she said.
"What do we got left to lose?" Renegade asked.
"Look, this is all getting pretty intense and it's a lot more than you signed up for. So, I don't blame any of you if you don't want to go any further. But I have to go. I have to rescue Tails and a world to save, a few worlds, actually. I should have been doing this alone anyway." Silver said.
"No. The Chaos Council are not going to stop at bigger robots, and you're our best shot at any sort of victory. We're with you, Sonic." Rebel said firmly but confused.
'Worlds?' she thought while he looked at them.
"Just tell me who to punch."Renegade said so Silver nodded and took off, with Renegade and Rebel landing on and breaking some robots.
Denizen 1998 picked up a robot and threw it onto another, but dodged a ground pound from another Eggforcer. He ducked to dodge an arm attack, until Rebel grabbed hold of the robot and tossed it with her might into the flying fist of Renegade.
Meanwhile, Silver approached two more Eggforcers shooting back at him. He jumped and clung onto one robot's mouth. As the robot scanned him, he taunted by moving his eyebrows. Then he looked over and evade an arm attack from another robot. Then he Homing Attacked the other Eggforcer, and jumped around various parts of the landscape to dodge more lasers. One laser attack cut off one of the rails, leaving a honking tram to de-rail and ram into a group of Eggforcers. While more robots shot at Silver, one of them was hit on the head by a robot part. From above, Denizen 1998 body pressed down on the Eggforcers. Soon, they heard him yelling in the distance. The two Denizen soldiers hid behind Robot parts while being shot at and Renegade, dodging more lasers, hid and prepared to shoot, while Rebel took out another Eggforcer. The shutters open, revealing two more bigger armored Eggforcers and they confronted them then Renegade groaned.
"Huh?" Rebel said and Renegade fired a weapon at it. "Forget it, Knucks! They're too well armored!"
"We'll see about that!" Renegade said, charged at the two armored Eggforcers and punched one of them on the head.
The head popped back out and the Eggforcer started firing lasers from its eyes back at him.
"Huh?" he said but Silver saved him from the attack and took him to safety and chuckled.
"If looks could kill," Silver said. "am I right?" he asked and nudged Renegade.
The robot slammed as it landed behind them, holding a flamethrower. It flamed at them and Silver retreated around the landscape and caused the robot to give chase.
"I think maybe I made them mad!" he said.
At Yoke HQ the Chaos Council were watching the action on their monitor.
"Yes! Barbecue that rodent!" Deep said and punched in the air. "For evil purposes only, mind you. I'm a strict vegetarian." he stammered as Eggman and Nine, the former looking away.
"We both know that the other members of the Council won't stop Sonic. They lack vision and imagination," Eggman said and turned to him. "unlike you."
"You think I have vision and imagination?" Nine said.
"Perhaps. Or perhaps you're just a stupid fox." Eggman said and went right to his face. "Alone. Useless. Pathetic."
"I'm pathetic?" Nine said sarcastically. "You're the one with unlimited power, and all you can think to do is build a bigger robot." he said threatening him.
Eggman cackled, then threatened him back with a large stun gun.
"Tell me how to defeat Sonic!"
"You can't, she's too fast. She thinks on her feet. No matter what you throw at her, she takes it. No matter how hard you hit her, she always gets back up! You'll never beat Sonic, because you can't understand her. You don't think like she thinks. You're not even in the same league."
"So I need to think like Sonic? I knew you had vision and imagination." Eggman said and Nine jumped off his seat in protest.
"Hey, wait! I didn't..."
"Yes, yes you did." Eggman said and left with the shutters behind him.
"Oh, what have I done?" Nine asked despaired. "Nine to Silver." he said on his Regulator.
At New Yoke City Silver was in the middle of a battle.
"Nine?" Silver said.
Back at the Yoke HQ.
"Are you there, Silver?" Nine asked when Don't and two robots confronted him.
"Warning your friend? Not cool." Don't said.
Back in New Yoke City Silver Super-Peel-Out and did a U-turn, as the robots walked closer to him.
"Come on, do your worst!" Silver said as the two armored Eggforcers scan him and fire a laser, which he dodged with a back-flip.
He peeled out and lured them to destroying more Eggforcers. Then he spun in between them, jumped up in the air causing the robots to blow up themselves before landing back down.
"Yeesh." he said and kicked a robot part. "You guys need some team spirit."
At the Yoke HQ three members of the Chaos Council were furious with the outcome.
Done-It gasped.
"Dagnabbit!" he said.
"No! No!" Deep said and Eggman appeared past the automatic doors.
"Gentlemen! Why the long faces? Could it be that your plans amounted to nothing, again?" Eggman asked.
"Well, if it isn't the cat that ate the canary. Where have you been?" Done-It asked.
"Answers aren't hard to find, if you know the right neck to twist." Eggman said and Don't then appeared, holding Nine.
"Turns out our many-tailed prisoner has been in communication with Sonic" Don't said and lifted up his Regulator. "this whole time."
"I knew it! That rat's a rat!" Done-It said.
"I... am... a fox!" Nine said furiously and let go.
"I'm gonna turn you into a bath robe!" Don't said furiously and Babble babbled furiously.
"Ah, let's not be hasty. The fox can lure Sonic right to us." Eggman said.
"How is that going to help? He keeps beating our Eggforcers!" Done-It said.
"Exactly. That's why I have... something... better in mind." Eggman said, walked over to his demonstration in the generator room and the rest of the Council followed. "My interrogation of our prisoner has inspired a design for our greatest robotic creation. Watch and learn." he said, pressed a key and the shard generator started pumping up with energy while Nine looked on, worried.
Back at New Yoke City Silver and the gang finished off a battle and met together.
"Nice job. Told you he'd make it." Rebel said.
"Make it? Uh... thanks. I can take it from here." Silver said.
"No chance. We've come this far. We finish this together."
"Easy to say. But we still gotta get inside. This place is locked down." Renegade said and more Eggforcers arrive from the doors and attack them.
"Take cover!" Rebel said and they hid while weapons were being shot at them
"More Eggforcers?" Renegade said and a weapon hit his hiding spot and he groaned. "I hate to say it, but..."
"We're not retreating! We make our stand, here and now!" she said and his hiding spot was hit by another shot.
He fired, along with Denizen 1998, but the Denizen 1008 hid, leaving Froggy up in the air.
"We can't hold them off for long. We need to get inside, now!" Renegade said.
"Sonic!" Nine said over Rebel's Regulator.
"Nine? About time!" Rebel said.
"Bring the others to the southwest doors." he said and she looked at Renegade.
"You okay? You sound strange."
"I'll get you in."
""Bring your friends"? Why would he say that?"
"I don't know Rebel. But something isn't right." Renegade said and she nodded as they kept hiding from weapon-fire. "And it's not like we have another option." he said and he and Silver ran for it.
"Rebels! Fall back!" she said and they arrived at the top of a building.
"Yes! I knew Nine wouldn't let me down. Come on!" Silver said, ran and stepped outside the southwest doors which open and they walked slowly inside.
"Yeah, this isn't ominous at all. I don't like this." Renegade said.
"You don't like anything. Anyone got a light?" Rebel asked and the next set of doors open with a mysterious orange glow. "Nine?" she said and a robotic figure walked towards them. "Is that you?" she asked as the robotic figure stopped as they approach the gang, causing them to take a step back and Renegade put his weapon down.
"No, it's... you." he said as Chaos Sonic switched on and displayed an angry facial expression.
"Not again." she said thinking about the last time she saw this then looked at Renegade who looked back. "You don't think?"
"I really hope not." he said. "But if he did, he better have a good excuse." he said as a mysterious robot stepped out, approaching them.
"Heads up, furbag!" Chaos Sonic said and charged straight towards her, punching her and sending her flying to a wall.
The other two Resistance members jumped back in fear while she thought about the last time she saw Metal.
Robotnik hopped out of the remains of Metal Robotnik and started to make faces at Sonic.
"You fell for my trap! You came all the way here, and now you'll die here. Good job Sonic!" he said.
"What did you say?" Sonic asked and rushed to him, but Metal Sonic appeared and stopped her.
"This is terrible!" Tails said.
"I, Doctor Robotnik, scientist extraordinaire, have finally completed my greatest invention ever. I call it the Hyper Metal Sonic."
"That robot may look like him, but he'll never be a match for the real Sonic!" Tails said and Robotnik laughed.
"Tails, this should be apparent to you. Sonic wasn't being electrocuted earlier. Instead I was extracting her life data and collecting all the information essential to my creation. Now, Hyper Metal Sonic is ready!"
"What are you planning to do with a stupid fake Sonic anyway?" Sara asked.
"I'm going to use Metal to destroy the real Sonic, and then I can completely destroy the Land of the Sky!"
"What did you say? There's no way you'll ever get away with this!" she said as a random Robotnik robot appeared and she screamed.
"Release Sara now, Robotnik!" Sonic said and he chuckled.
"Ah, but first you must fight him. Go get him, Hyper Metal Sonic!"
"Everybody stand back. Nobody try to help me. I have to destroy this imposter!" she said and Metal Sonic revved up and started her rocket.
"Woooaah!" he said and she dodged Metal Sonic's attack.]
"Man he's fast! I've never seen anything able to keep up with Sonic!" Knuckles said.
Meanwhile Sara was tied up and scared, while Robotnik was excited and laughing.
"Finally I have an invention that will mark my place in history forever and give me the recognition I deserve!" Robotnik said and Metal Sonic attacked Sonic.
"I think Sonic's in trouble!" Tails said.
Sonic looked faint as Metal Sonic caught her by the leg and sealed both of them in an energy shield.
"Huhehe! Gooooooo Metal!" Robotnik said and Metal Sonic started to escape Robotropolis while Tails screamed.
"Is that a... knockoff Sonic?" Silver asked surprised while Chaos Sonic grabbed onto Rebel.
"Knockoff? Oof, that stings!" Chaos Sonic said, winked and tapped his metallic head. "From the top of my titanium reinforced head to my industrial-grade took us!" he said and threw her up to a ceiling.
She started to fall back down, to which Renegade and Silver joined forces again, about to attack Chaos Sonic, but he kicked her away, and knocked them both down at the same time. Then he did a hand-stand and winked again. Rebel was thrown to a far edge of the Yoke HQ, and almost fell off.
"Woah, woah, woah!" Rebel said maintaining her balance and looked at Chaos Sonic.
"The name is Chaos Sonic, like regular Sonic, but with twice the charm" he said and winked. "and none of the FAILURE!"
"Failure? You've got the wrong hedgehog, pal!"
"Au contraire, blue-hair! I know a fox that might disagree with you."
"Another trap... Why would Nine set us up?" Renegade said.
"That's a lie!" Rebel said.
"I was not programmed to lie!" Chaos Sonic said, jumped towards her from a far distance and punched her.
