Harlan Bishop woke up with a stretch, the morning sun streaming through the windows of Emily's apartment. He could hear the soft murmurs of his friends in the kitchen, and the delicious aroma of crepes wafted through the air. Joining them, he found Emily Cooper, Mindy Chen, Camille, and her girlfriend Sofia Sideris gathered around the stove, each contributing to the breakfast effort.
"Good morning, everyone," Harlan greeted with a smile, taking in the cozy scene.
"Morning, Harlan!" they chorused.
"Grab an apron and join us," Camille instructed, waving a spatula. "We're making crepes."
As Harlan joined the assembly line, Camille and Mindy took charge, giving step-by-step instructions on mixing batter, heating the pan, and flipping the delicate crepes. Laughter and playful banter filled the kitchen as they worked together.
"I think these might be the best crepes I've ever made," Emily declared proudly, sliding a perfectly golden crepe onto a plate.
"Agreed," Mindy said, flipping hers with a flourish. "Who knew we had such culinary talent?"
Once the crepes were ready, they gathered around the table, topping their creations with various fruits, Nutella, and whipped cream. Harlan glanced around at his friends, feeling a surge of affection and camaraderie.
"You know, we need a squad name," Harlan announced between bites. "Something that captures our essence. Any suggestions?"
Emily tilted her head thoughtfully. "How about 'The Parisian Posse'?"
"Not bad," Camille said. "Or maybe 'The Seine Squad'?"
Sofia smiled. "How about 'The Crepe Crew'?"
Harlan chuckled, liking the sound of that. "I like 'The Crepe Crew.' It's perfect."
Just then, Camille's phone buzzed with a text message. She glanced at it and her eyes widened. "It's from Antoine. He says his friend is diving into the Seine right now to find your phone, Harlan."
Harlan's eyes widened with a mix of hope and anxiety. "I really hope they find it. There are so many memories on that phone."
As they continued eating, Mindy suddenly made a face. "Who put Dijon mustard on my crepe?"
Emily giggled. "Oops, that was me. Sorry, Mindy. I guess staying up until 3 a.m. does weird things to your culinary skills."
They all laughed, lightening the mood as they finished their breakfast. Just as they were cleaning up, Emily's phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and answered. "Hey, Luc. What's up?"
Luc's voice came through the speaker, sounding urgent. "Emily, Sylvie says Savoir is switching gears. Minette has hired us to work on her fashion business. She wants to rival Pierre Cadault and Grégory Elliott Duprée. But be careful, Minette is known for throwing temper tantrums and firing people left and right."
Emily's eyes widened. "Wow, okay. Thanks for the heads up, Luc. We'll be there soon."
After ending the call, Emily turned to her friends. "We need to get ready. Minette's hired Savoir, and we have to head to her House of Design."
"Minette?" Camille asked, her eyebrows shooting up. "This should be interesting."
Harlan nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. "I just hope Antoine will be there."
With that, they quickly got dressed and prepared to head out. The morning's lightheartedness shifted to focused determination as they anticipated the challenges and adventures that awaited them at Minette's House of Design.
