Sometimes life comes in with big punch in the gut surprise. Today the elite guard ship was coming and Optimus was waiting for it. "I wonder what Ultra Magnus wants to talk about," Optimus said.
"Well we will find out soon enough," Ratchet told him.
Soon the ship landed and Ultra Magnus came out. "Greetings Optimus prime," he said.
"Greetings Commander," Optimus said. "What do you want to talk about?" he asked.
"Optimus come inside this mostly concerns you," Ultra Magnus told him.
Optimus saw Sentinel who came over. "Why if it isn't Optimus Prime," Sentinel said.
"What do you want Sentinel?" Optimus asked.
"I am wondering why Ultra Magnus wants to talk to you specifically, and what about," Sentinel said.
"I don't even know," Optimus told him.
Ultra Magnus was standing before him. Then Optimus saw Kup. "Kup it's good to see my old drill sergeant," Optimus said.
"Good to see you too lad," Kup told him.
"Optimus remember your wife Sunstone?" Ultra Magnus asked.
"Yes I remember her, we loved each other very much, and I remember we had fight shortly before I left the planet, to start out my career with my crew." Optimus said.
"Yes I am aware of that," Ultra Magnus said. "But shortly after you disappeared she became aghast, and she discovered she was pregnant with your child shortly after you left and she struggled to contact you. Shortly before the end of her pregnancy she got into an accident and she went into a coma and her child had to be born via c section. The child had been living under the care of Kup due to us being unable to contact you." he said.
"I am a father?" Optimus asked.
"Yes and your son is here now," Ultra Magnus said. "Kup bring him out," he said.
Kup went into the other room and brought out a small youngling about six years old who was looked a bit nervous. The child was brought before Optimus. "Optimus this is your son Hotitus Rodimus," Ultra Magnus said. "It is the name your wife chose for him," he said.
The child looked at Optimus as if he was worried what he would think of him. "Hello Hotitus Rodimus, my name is Optimus prime I am your father," Optimus said.
"I know I saw pictures of you when Kup was looking after me he told me so much about you, I don't believe what the other kids say when I tell them about you and mom's story," Hotitus Rodimus said.
"What do they tell you?" Optimus asked.
"They tell him that you abandoned him and his mother and never loved her to begin with and you were lame, I told him they never knew you like I did so I told him not to listen to him," Kup said.
"I see," Optimus said. "Now Hotitus Rodimus I am very sorry I wasn't there for your mother and you when you two needed me the most, and I will tell you what happened if you want to here it," he said.
"Okay," Hotitus Rodimus said.
"It's like this," Optimus said and explained. He isn't sure Hotitus Rodimus listened but he decided to finish the story. "You see that is what happened I was in stasis all those years after we crashed so I couldn't be there for your mother and I didn't even know about you, I miss her very much, and I know you miss her too so please give me a chance," he said.
"I already am," Hotitus Rodimus said.
"Now Optimus, Hotitus Rodimus shall stay with you and your crew, he needs his father," Ultra Magnus said.
"Yes sir," Optimus said.
"Good now I know this is a lot to take in but I know he will grow and flourish under your care," Ultra Magnus told him.
Coming out with Hotitus Rodimus earned some stares from the humans. "Why are they staring at me?" Hotitus Rodimus asked nervously and inched closer to Optimus by instinct as an frightened child would with their mother or father.
"They are just curious about you, so come on let's introduce you to them so you aren't such mystery." Optimus said. "It's alright everyone this is Hotitus Rodimus he's my son that my wife had while I was gone so it's alright he won't hurt you," he said.
The humans started murmuring and Optimus' crew came up wanting an explanation. "It's like this," Optimus and explained.
"I see well you are welcome in our base most definitely kid," Ratchet said.
Once at the plant Hotitus Rodimus was given a room near Optimus'. "Here you go Hotitus Rodimus your room," Optimus said.
"I really don't like being called Hotitus Rodimus, everyone I know calls me Hot Rod for short, I like that," Hot Rod said.
"Okay then I'll call you Hot Rod then, we all will," Optimus said.
"Can I call you daddy?" Hot Rod asked.
"Of course I would love that I am your father after all," Optimus told him. Hot Rod made himself comfortable in his new room. He was plenty nervous about living on earth. But also excited to finally be with the father he heard so much about.
Hot Rod preceded to look around the base and saw the other Autobots in another room with Sari. Bumblebee and Sari were watching TV while Prowl was reading a book, Bulkhead was painting while Ratchet and Optimus were just standing watching what was going on.
"Look who decided to come out of his room," Ratchet said.
Hot Rod looked up at the old Autobot. Then saw what Sari and Bumblebee were watching it was cartoon so he sat down on the couch next to them and started to watch.
"So what do you think great cartoon?" Sari asked.
"Yes it's kind of funny," Hot Rod said. A bit later Bumblebee and Sari decided to play a video game so the tv was free. Hot Rod found the remote and started flip through channels. Then found a kiddie show for children in his age group. He was glue to his spot watching the tv. "He sure is engrossed by that kiddie show," Ratchet said.
Sari saw the show Hot Rod was watching. "I used to watch that show when I was around five and six it's great show for kids his age and educational," Sari said.
"I see," Optimus said as he saw Hot Rod continuing to watch.
Then Optimus was heading out. "Daddy where are you going?" Hot Rod asked.
"I got things to do Hot Rod, as a Prime I have work, there are many threats in this city and us Autobots have to handle them, I got to do this right now, so behave while I am gone," Optimus said.
"Yes sir," Hot Rod said. He watched as Optimus left. Ratchet saw Hot Rod's face he looked a little scared and worried still.
"Don't worry kid, he'll be back before you know it," Ratchet told him.
"I sure hope so, because I really want to get to know daddy," Hot Rod said.
"I know you do, keep in mind he's going to be busy, but if you have anything to talk about you can talk to one of us any one of us, we will listen," Ratchet told him.
"Okay," Hot Rod said.
Hot Rod began too look around the base. He saw Prowl in his room. "Hi," Hot Rod said.
Prowl noticed that he came in. "Hello, Hot Rod is there something you need?" Prowl asked.
"No just exploring, what is this big green thing in your room, it's pretty," Hot Rod said.
"It's a tree, a type of plant, one of the tallest plants on this planet. The brown part is the trunk which is made of wood which humans use for many things, and the green stuff are leaves, and those little pretty things are flowers, the flowers once pollinated become seeds or fruit depending on what kind of tree it is," Prowl explained.
"That's cool," Hot Rod said.
"I'm glad you find it interesting," Prowl said.
Then some birds were making a nest. "What are those little things, they sound like they are singing," Hot Rod said.
"They are singing, these are birds, and there are many different kinds, and looks like these birds are making a nest to start a family," Prowl said.
"You mean soon there will be little birds?" Hot Rod asked.
"Yes there might be," Prowl said.
"Well I want to see more of the base, I guess I will see you later," Hot Rod said leaving.
Prowl just nodded and watched as the child left.
Hot Rod continued to look around the base, he wondered what he might find. He saw Bulkhead painting. "What are you doing?" Hot Rod asked.
"Painting," Bulkhead answered.
"I see," Hot Rod said.
He saw Bumblebee and Sari watching tv again.
"Hey Hot Rod," Sari said.
"Um hi," Hot Rod said.
"So would you like to do something?" Sari asked him.
"Like what?" He asked scratching his head.
"How about a game?" Sari suggested.
"What kind of game?" Hot Rod asked.
"I have a few board games let's find one." Sari said and started to look through them. "Ah ha, here's one it's called headbandz, you where a headband and grab a card without looking at it and then place it on you head band and ask questions to the other players about what the card says, the one who guesses what they are correctly wins," Sari said.
"Okay," Hot Rod said.
They started to play. Sari won the game. "That was kind of fun," Hot Rod said.
It had been a few hours. "He's not home yet," Hot Rod said. "It's been a long time," he said.
"I know kid, keep in mind your father is a prime which means he's a busy bot, and he has lot to do," Ratchet said. "I know you just met him and want to bond with him, there are humans here he is familiar with that are bad people and he tries to help the humans stop them, so don't worry he should be back soon," he told him trying to comfort Hot Rod.
Then as if on que Optimus came in. "Sorry I am late, the Angry Archer was causing trouble and was playing hard to catch but I caught him finally," Optimus said coming in.
"Daddy," Hot Rod said and ran up to him. Optimus hugged him. "I was worried," he said.
"I am sorry Hot Rod, but don't worry I am home now," Optimus said. "So you are safe now son," he reassured him.
It was starting to get dark out. "Okay I think it's time little Hot Rod gets put to bed Optimus, he needs his rest," Ratchet said. "He's still growing and being only five he is too young to stay up late," he said.
"Good point," Optimus said. "Okay little guy time for bed," he said.
"Okay," Hot Rod said following his father. Hot Rod followed Optimus too his room and soon got on the bed and then Optimus turned out the light.
"Good night Hot Rod," Optimus said.
"Good night," Hot Rod said and soon went to sleep.
