Chapter 1: The Beating

Yugi Muto was walking home from school that Friday afternoon. He sighed heavily, he didn't really wanna go home. Six years ago he wound up in foster care after his parents and grandpa died in a car accident and the first people he was placed with were nice people. They were good friends with his parents and after they heard what happened to his family they took Yugi into their home.

He was with them for two years before his foster mother got sick and passed away. His foster father tried as best he could but the foster care system would not let him keep Yugi and raise him as a single parent. So they had to place him in a new foster home and they are horrible people. Both of them beat the small teen. The worst ones came from his foster father when he was drunk, he liked to use the belt.

He got beat alot at home. Sometimes for no reason other than the fact that they could. Especially if he didn't get something fast enough. They had three other children but they were their own children and got treated much better than he did, the children were younger than he was by quite a few years and were always nice to him. Yugi was pretty much treated like dirt at school and at home.

He tried to complain once to his social worker but nothing happened except him getting beat harder after they found out. They told the social worker that Yugi was lying to get attention since he was no longer an only child and that the small boy was jealous of their new baby. That night was one of the worst beatings he ever received.

He also got beat up at school for being smaller than the other kids. Everyone towered over him. Yugi was 4"8, had spiky tri colored hair that was jet black at the base, amethyst purple at the tips, and beautiful sunflower yellow lightning shaped bangs framed his child like face with one little curl in the middle of his forehead with a soft, child like face and big round amethyst eyes and creamy ivory skin.

Yugi was also very skinny since he didn't eat a whole lot because his lunch was always being taken. It was hard enough to sneak a lunch out of the house as it is. He only got what was left over from dinner at home because his foster parents said he was not allowed to eat with everyone else.

They told Yugi he had to wait until everybody was done eating and then if there was anything left he could have it. The small teen was pretty much treated like Cinderella. He had to cook, clean and do everything else around the house as well as run the family errands.

The young teen wished he had a prince charming to come and take him away from here. The small teen always dreamed of falling in love and getting his happily ever after. He found out in late middle school that he was gay. Yet another reason he got beat up. At the time Yugi had a crush on another boy in his grade but he never said anything because he was afraid of being rejected. Despite being treated like dirt Yugi was always nice to everyone, he just wished they could be nice in return.

The only thing that gave him comfort was the duel monster deck he built with his grandpa a few years ago. It was a gift for Yugi's 10th birthday. He missed his family terribly. Him and his Grandpa used to play all the time. Yugi was always very shy and never had any real friends.

Yugi was about half way home when he stopped short, realizing his backpack felt incredibly light now that he was thinking about the math homework that was sitting in his backpack. The small boy shrugged off his bag and peered inside hoping that the book was in there.

It was not. The only book that was in there was his history book. "Crap, I can't believe I forgot my book. I'm so stupid. If I'm late starting dinner Alastor is going to take the belt to me again. I still have bruises from the last time he hit me with that. This sucks. I'm going to have to run all the way back to school to get it." Yugi said to himself as he looked at his watch.

The boy figured that he should be able to run to the school and still make it in time to start dinner before everyone else gets home. So the small teen pulled the backpack back on and booked it all the way back to the school to get his book. Yugi sighed in relief as he saw that the gates were still unlocked. He runs to his locker and grabs the book out of his locker.

Once he shuts his locker door, the tri-colored haired teen spots Ushio. He is one of the guys who likes to beat Yugi up, in the dark corner of the hall. Ushio is about 6"3 with dark brown almost black hair with bangs that feel in spikes around his pale face on his forehead that made it look like a spider was resting upon his head and he always wore it pulled back into a low ponytail. He had pitch black soulless eyes that rested under thick dark eyebrows.

"Crap! I thought he would be gone already. Detention let out 15 minutes ago." Yugi said to himself.

No doubt the giant ape is waiting for him to walk by. The small teen already received a beating today because he refused to give Ushio his lunch. He also saw Ushio give a random dude on the street something that was square and wrapped in brown paper. Yugi wasn't sure what it was. He had a sinking feeling in his gut that it was probably nothing good. The principal saw Ushio beating on him and gave Ushio detention for a week.

Yugi tried to sneak out the back door but Ushio had one of his goons, Erza was waiting for him, and as soon as Yugi turned the corner he grabbed him in a painful headlock. Erza was not as big as Ushio but he had an iron grip. He is the school's best martial artist student. He stood about 5"8 and had smokey black hair that stood straight up all around his head in small spikes. His eyes were sharp, slanted and thick mud brown eyeliner color lined his small mud colored eyes. He also wasn't very smart, probably the reason he took up martial arts. What he lacked in brains he made up in brawn Yugi guessed.

"Hey Ushio! I got the little shrimp!" Erza shouts down the hall.

Ushio walks over to them with a sick grin on his face. Yugi whimpered in fear as he saw him carrying a baseball bat. He struggled trying to get down before Ushio came over. Luck was not on his side today.

"This is for making me miss baseball practice and for getting me dention all week." He said as he swung the wooden bat into Yugi's stomach, making him cry.

He tried to call for help but it was no use. Ushio had punched him in the mouth several times, to the point where it was swollen and it hurt to speak. Ushio and Erza beat him until he passed out.

"Uh Ushio I think you killed him." Erza says, poking Yugi in the stomach with his shoe. Yugi is barely conscious but he lies still hoping that if they think he's dead they will leave him here.

"No, the little shrimp is still alive. He can play dead all he wants but soon he will be dead." Ushio siad with a sick grin on his face. I know just how to do it too.

"The little shrimp is going to go for a swim. Grab him and let's go. If he goes to the cops about what he saw earlier, we will go to jail." Ushio hissed at Erza.

Yea but if we toss him in the ocean and he doesn't come back his family might report him missing. Wouldn't we be in more trouble?" Erza questions him.

"The runt has no family, he's an orphan. I heard he got placed with the Judd family. You know the one with the drunken father. Now, unless you want someone to see us grab him and take him to my dad's boat. We'll throw him in the ocean, see if the shrimp can swim. If so he lives another day and I still get to beat on him. If not, he will be shark food." Ushio said as he told Erza to grab Yugi.

Yugi tried with all his might to get away but he was just too exhausted from the two beatings he received today. Well at least if I die I'll get to see my family again, was Yugi's last thought before he was struck once more making him pass out.

When Yugi came to, he felt like the ground was moving. The small teen came to the horrible realization he was on a boat in the middle of the ocean with two of the biggest bullies at Domino High. To say Yugi was scared was an understatement, he was terrified.

"Hey boss, it looks like our guest is awake." Erza said with a horrible grin on his face. Him and Ushio looked like christmass came early.

"Now we can't send our little buddy off without a proper goodbye now can we?" Ushio asked Erza with a sinister smile on his face.

"No, that would be very rude of us." Erza snickered.

Ushio smirked again and he handed his bat to Erza. "You can have the first turn." He said.

"Why thank you Ushio, don't mind if I do." Erza said as he swung the bat and hit Yugi multiple times.

After several blows to his torso Yugi felt his ribs break. After that it was hard to breathe. Ushio was the next one to take the bat and started hitting Yugi harder over and over. The small teen was in excruciating pain at this point.

Ushio stopped hitting him. The older man looked down at him and said, "I hope this will teach you to never eavesdrop again." He then picked Yugi up by his shirt.

Yugi groaned in pain as he was lifted none too gently and then he was tossed into the deep cyan blue waters of the ocean. As soon as Yugi's small broken body hit the water, the two men in the boat drove off back to the shore.

The small teen tried his best to swim to shore but he was just too tired. His body ached horribly and he was just so tired. Yugi felt his vision blur going in and out of focus before everything went black.
