Chapter Seventeen
FBI building…
Half an hour later…
Ian was looking through some possible locations that Charlie gave him when he saw David walking from his desk, looking like he was getting ready to cry, to one of the interrogation rooms.
"Excuse me." Ian quietly said to Charlie as he went to go follow the tired agent
David looked startled when he saw the sniper, unsure of what the man was going to say and readied himself.
"You want to talk about it, David?" Ian asked, which surprised David, who thought he was going to get the riot act.
"I… don't know where to even start." David finally answered after staring at Ian for several minutes.
"How about when this kidnapping situation started." Ian gently pushed
"Guilt, pure guilt, as I was way out of line with Colby the previous day and I was planning on apologizing, but I don't know if he'll accept it or if he'll just leave either the team and/or FBI, which I wouldn't blame him for."
"David…I know what it is like… to feel betrayed but you do understand that Colby was just doing his job to take down spies, right?" Ian asked
"I do but the problem is that we have been partners for two years and we have told each other almost everything, or so I have thought until the last couple months." David, though he wasn't entirely sure that was it.
"Is that the only one? Because even if you guys had told each other a lot, there are probably some things you never told Colby." Ian suggested
"Yeah, but nothing to the level of being a triple spy." David pointed out, not offended with what Ian was saying
"It rarely ever is." Ian simply said
"I know, it just… stings more now than anything else." David admitted
"David, I get it but right now we all need to focus on finding Don and the men who took him and then we'll have time to try to work through this thing between you and Colby." Ian said
Before David could say anything else, both Charlie and Megan came rushing into the room.
"What is it?" Ian asked, concerned
"Matt found camera footage of a car matching the description of several of Dinah's neighbors and the sketch artist's picture has found us a suspect, a man named Ryan Samspon." Megan said
"Anything significant about him?" Ian asked
"Oh yeah, his face is similar to one of the witnesses in those robberies and so far he has no alibi for it." Megan said with a smile
"Any idea as to where we can find him?" David asked
"I found that he works in demolition," Charlie explained before continuing, "With one building scheduled for next week, so that might be where Don is."
"All right, call Merrick and get a team, we are getting him back." David said while giving Ian a look that they will be continuing their conversation.
"Ok, but I am also coming with you." Charlie said as he followed the rushing agents.
"Fine, but you stay in the car." Megan said, hoping that Don doesn't get mad at them for bringing his brother along.
