Ryuu didn't know what to think of the two new additions to the Hostess of Fertility, Percy and his baby sister Estelle. Or as some others referred to the two as a collective, the Jackson siblings.
She often pondered on certain things, such as why despite not being elves. They were able to make contact with her, after all, despite not agreeing with her village's views on other races she wasn't perfect.
Because despite her best efforts, their elven culture had been instilled into her, loathe as she was to admit it. Which is why she involuntarily attacked any non elf who touched her. Maybe it was how genuine they both were, or how they both seemed to be able to put anyone at ease with but a smile.
She didn't know why they were exempt from that involuntary act. But she was glad they were, especially now. As soon as she walked into the Hostess of Fertility, she was immediately assaulted with Estelle dragging her to a table and sitting her down when her brother showed up.
Ryuu was confused at first, then Percy put a small bed on the table. In the bed were toys for an animal and a card. He then set various containers with some sort of food in them next to the bed, and she only grew more confused.
"What is this? We shouldn't be sitting here when we could be getting ready for the first rush." He just smiled and handed her a card. It wasn't anything fancy.
Just a black card with 'Thank You' written in neat cursive using bronze colored ink. Underneath that was written 'This is a blessing from the heavens to show our appreciation' and based on what Ryuu knew of him, that likely took the better part of half an hour for him to write out.
That just confused her more, but then he snapped his fingers and a ripple went through the air. Her immediate thought was magic. But that was soon forgotten as a sleeping puppy suddenly appeared on the bed and she was struck with warmth.
A puppy, they were giving her a puppy, and enough food for said puppy to last a month and a half. "I, thank you." She was tearing up a bit, this was undoubtedly the most heartfelt gift she had been given, and by people she's known for less than a week.
"Yeah, well I figured saying thank you so much was starting to annoy you, and wasn't a good enough thank you. Then as a thank you gift I gave you an old hoodie with a stain that won't come out." He trailed off, and Ryuu laughed. "The hoodie would have been fine Percy."
He smiled, before frowning a bit. "Yeah but last night on my way back I came across this little guy starving with missing fur and a pretty bad cut near his left ear, and I figured a puppy would be a great gift." That caused Ryuu to adorn a matching frown.
"Well, it's good you found him then. But if he was in such a bad state last night, how is he so healthy by this morning?" He looked away a bit, before sighing. "I can't say exactly. But what I used is great for healing, the only issue is it causes pain before it actually heals you. So I don't like using it."
There was clearly more to that, but she wasn't going to push. "Well thank you, he looks adorable. What's his name?" he gave a mischievous smile. "It's on the card."
She looked at the card again, even flipped it over. She didn't see a name. "It's blessing from the heavens, that's what his name means. It's Yanis, a name from my native tongue. He's an Alopekis, a dog breed from my father's native land, the same place my native language originates. If I had to guess he's about nine months old."
A nine month old Alopekis named Yanis, he was a great gift. "I made the food for him, just keep it frozen until you plan to use it and it should last as long as you need." She nodded, "Thank you, for such a great gift."
"Of course, now. When your ready let Estelle know and she can take care of him for the rush." Ryuu decided she would pet Yanis a bit more, he was nice and soft. Yes, Ryuu made up her mind then. She liked the Jackson siblings, and Percy was a great friend. There was no changing her mind from that.
TIMESKIP: NOON: 3RD PERSON LIMITED POV
Mama Mia gave Percy the rest of the day off after May came in. Something about how he was starting to become too distracting. So customers forgot to order sometimes.
He decided to finally check out the looming tower in the center of Orario. Babel, he found it ironic, from what little he knew of it in his own world, Babel was a tower destroyed by capital 'G' God after a bunch of humans got together to reach heaven.
But here, it was a tower endorsed by the gods who encouraged adventurers to reach higher and higher. It wasn't something a lot of gods he knew would endorse, but at the same time. There was plenty of them that would endorse it too, but that was par for the course with gods. Give them an idea and twist it so that them even allowing it would stroke their ego, and they'd let near enough anything happen.
One thing he didn't enjoy however, was constantly being mistaken for a god. It happened occasionally back home. But here everyone thought he was a god. Some other gods and Goddesses even called him by his father's name, Poseidon. Or sometimes Neptune.
He finally made it to Babel after a little over fifty minutes of walking, and was about to head over to the elevator when he overheard a group of four people talking about a girl planning something involving some poor guy.
That wasn't what caughthis attention, it was the fact that he recognized them all, three from the night he had found Yanis, the last from when he first met Bell, and all of them also had some interaction with the small girl Bell was seen with lately. Lili she said her name was.
She was a chienthrope. At least that's what she said, but she looked and smelled like the girl who had a run in with those guys. She certainly didn't have the scent of any chienthropes he's come across so far either, so he was willing to bet there was some magic at play there.
But either way, wether it was her in trouble, or Bell in trouble, he wasn't about to sit by and let it happen, he didn't know either of them too well. But Bell was important to Syr who was quickly becoming a friend, and if something happened to him, well he and Ryuu weren't lying when they said Syr would be disappointed.
He didn't want that, and clearly the girl was important to Bell, so if something happened to her. Well he could read people well enough to know Bell would blame himself, and that would also cause Syr to be saddened no doubt.
He sighed, "right, well let's go in there then." He had mumbled to himself again, something he internally acknowledged may be concerning.
He was just lucky he had the outfit he wore when he wound up in Oraria cleaned. Because it looked like he was about to enter the dungeon, and he needed to look his best for the monsters he would no doubt face down there.
LINEBREAK FIVE MINUTES LATER
Percy grew very bored very quick. He had a sneaking suspicion the monsters here were much weaker based on the aura of the gods and Goddesses he's come across, and how weak those five minotaur were when he first got here. Which isn't to say the one back home wasn't. But it would kill any of the adventurers in Oraria with little difficulty.
But there was a very noticeable difference in power between here and back home. But he wasn't expecting it to be this large either, it was weird how easily he killed these monsters. That doesn't mean he underestimated them tho, he knew better than to do something so stupid.
That still didn't change the fact he was bored tho. He didn't bother using Riptide, or even the shield his brother and Briares made. He didn't need to. Not that he did with most monsters back home anymore. He tended to practice on his own, or with the occasional god or goddess that wanted his head for whatever reason.
TIMESKIP: FIFTEEN MINUTES
Percy was sure he'd gone past where Bell would have been able to based on the aura they gave off compared to Bell's own. He didn't know exactly how far down he went, at least fifteen floors, so he just decided to turn back ans head up. At least he was able to collect monster stones from all the monsters he killed.
Just as he turned a corner to head back up, he heard a rumbling. One that came from in front of the entrance to the floor below him, so he waited for whatever was going to pop out to show itself. It didn't disappoint not even a second later a monster popped out...Percy was pretty sure this was that monster Rex that apparently respawned every two weeks or so he heard some people talk about.
It wasn't too powerful, but it could prove useful for practice. Percy grinned, this would be the first thing here he might actually be able to use as a form of sparring.
Percy pulled on the rope that was attached to the white cloth covering his shoulders, and his outfit changed. Now he looked like a gladiator.
Blue vambraces with gold designs, fingerless brown leather gloves going up his forearms. A blue shoulder pauldron on his left shoulder bearing a gold lions head and gold Greek accents held there by a leather strap, a white cloth around his waist going down below his knees, underneath a cloth that matched his eyes with gold wave accents. With blue skirt armor with gold weights near the ends, held by a gold band across his waist.
With blue greaves overtop the ancient sandals a Greek soldier would wear to war. To top it all off was a crown of gold laurels. This left the scars from past battles on full display. He activated his wristwatch shield which spiraled out and was more beautiful than the last two, displaying all of his achievements over the front of it, like a portable display.
He uncapped Anaklusmos, and she shone with a fierce intensity, eager for a fight. Just the same he grew an eager, confident smile and responded. "Yeah, I'm excited too."
(The image above, more or less, minus the trident design on Riptide, artist credit below the edge of the shield)
Percy charged towards the Goliath. A seven meter tall monster with gray skin, red eyes, white hair, and hulking mass.
It swung down at him as Percy rolled to the side, cutting the hand off that slammed into where he used to be as he sprung up from the roll. Causing the Goliath to roar in pain and try and swing at him with it's other hand.
Percy caught that on his shield, before he shoved it off causing the Goliath to stumble backwards. Deciding to not let an advantage go to waste he ran towards it, then leaped feet first. Rocketing towards the monster and drop kicking it's left knee shattering it, at the same time he used said knee as a springboard to bring the top of his head into it's chin.
Causing the monster to fly up and backwards several meters before it crashed down in a heap. Attempting to crawl away from the demigod, one who was laughing in joy as he toyed with the monster Rex. He then slung hisruht arm forward, releasing his shield which sailed into the nose of the monster with a sickening crunch and bounced off of it, back into the hand of the charging demigod.
Just as he caught his shield the Goliath threw a Boulder at him, then another and another. Each one he sliced into pieces, shattered by punching it with the edge of his shield, charged into shield first, all while continuing on his path, one that led him straight into the mouth of the Goliath, and through the back of it's head faster than it could perceive.
all he had to show for it was a monster stone, a giant tooth, and the monster blood covering him head to toe. But he was to disappointed to let it bother him, so he picked up the stone and the tooth, and placed them in his magic satchel just like all the other drops, and made his way up. All the while unaware or perhaps uncaring, of the people from floor eighteen who had witnessed the ordeal.
TIMESKIP: THIRTY MINUTES, THIRD PERSON OMNISCIENCE
As the son of Poseidon walked out of the dungeon covered in monster blood and holding a sword in one hand, with a shield on the arm of the other. Everyone stopped what they were doing in order to stare at the saddened young man, thinking the blood on him was that of comrades he was unable to save.
Only to be literally and figuratively floored when he brought out the monster stone of the Goliath and mumbled to himself, loud enough for all around to hear with the silent atmosphere "it was weaker than I thought."
He then sighed, and walked up to the brown haired elven woman named Eina. "would it be okay if I traded this in?" it took her a few seconds, but she was quick to nod and hand over rather payment.
"Y-Yeah, one and a half million vali, here." He took a few steps before stopping and asking. "Did a short white haired adventurer and his Prum supporters come out of the dungeon? His name is Bell if that helps."
it took a while for him to get a response, but when he did he smiled and gave a thanks as he walked out of Babel, towards the Hostess of Fertility.
