Isabella's POV

Ah, Yock Island. Nothing has changed after all these years, and the four of us are a little happy when Teacher sent us here to so-called 'cool our heads'. But what the heck, I didn't care about it. "This is a joke. What does she mean, 'cool our heads'? I hope she doesn't think we're going to have any trouble surviving here now." Ed said to the two of us.

"She even forbade us from using alchemy. It's just like last time, isn't it?" I asked him. "Yeah, really, I mean, what's the point of doing this again? Does Teacher think we haven't grown up at all?" Ed asked. "Oh, I don't know, I'm sure she has her reasons..." I said to him as we looked back.

Winry's POV

The three are slipping away from us. "No, wait! Go back! Edward! Alphonse! Isabella!" I called out. Sig grabbed me. "Don't move around, girl. You'll get wet." Sig said to me. "Okay!" I squeaked as I sat down. "But what do you want them to do?" I asked them.

"I don't want them to do anything." Izumi said to me. "That's right." Sig said to me as well. "What's right?! You left them on an uninhabited island, without any previsions, and what do you mean you don't want them to do anything?!" Mark asked her. "I mean just that." Izumi said to him. "Right." Sig said as I stood up.

"You know, we just don't think we understand you people at all!" I shouted at them. "It's okay to do nothing." Izumi said to us. "Huh?" I questioned her. "It's alright to just stop and think things over for a while. Those three need some time to do that right now." Izumi said to him as the two of us are taken aback at what she just said.

"Humankind cannot gain anything, without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

Isabella's POV

The three of us walked around until we left footprints. 'Yep, nothing has changed.' I thought to myself when Ed stopped in his tracks." Guys." Ed called to us. "Hmm?" I hummed at him. "Let's escape." Ed said to us with a smirk on his face as we freaked out. "That's impossible! I can't swim!" Al said to him all scared.

"Same goes for me! But not here!" I said to him all scared as well. "Come to think of it, neither can I." Ed said, as he continued until he stopped, and we stopped as well. "Yeah, we're different from back then. We're smarter." Ed said to us. "Yeah, no kidding." I said to him.

*Flashback Begins*

The three of us laughed as we played with the water while we were on the boat with Teacher, and the man rowing it. "This is fun, isn't it, brother?" Al said to his brother. "You bet. It has been a long time since we went on a vacation together, huh, Al?" Ed asked him when Teacher saw what was going on. "A vacation?" Teacher questioned them. "Good one!" The man said as he laughed, and the three of us were a little stunned by this. We arrived at the island, and the three of us were a little surprised by this.

"Here, take this." Teacher said when she tossed Ed something, and he saw what it was. "A knife?" I questioned about the knife. "This is an uninhabited island. There's no electricity, no wells, no house to protect you from the rain. As for wild animals, there probably aren't any." Teacher said to us as we became stunned by this. "You three have to survive on this island, all by yourselves, for one full month, all right?" Teacher said to us as we looked confused by this.

"Oh, and you can't use any alchemy." Teacher said to us as we became shocked by what she just said. "WHAT?!" The three of us gasped out when Teacher walked over to the boat. "I'll come back to pick you up in a month, okay, kids?" Teacher said to us as we were shocked by this. "What! But wait!" I called out when she stopped in her tracks and faced us.

"One is All, and All is One." Teacher said, as we became confused by what she said after she got on the boat. "Oh, and kids, if you still haven't figured that out by the end of the month, I'm sending you back to Resembool. Bye!" Teacher said as the man rowed off, leaving the four of us surprised by this turn of events.

*Flashback Stops*

Ed cuts a path for us to go through. "One is All, and All is One." Ed questioned that word when we followed him with Al helping us. "We understand the concept now, but back then..." Al trailed off. "Yeah, we had no idea what she meant by it back then. And were we dumb." Ed said to him when he continued, and we followed him, unaware that someone was watching us. We finally made it to the place where we slept back then. 'How could I forget that one?' I thought to myself.

*Flashback Continues*

Nighttime came and the four of us lay on some leaves we found to sleep on. "One is All and All is One, huh? Damn, that crazy lady sure gave us some weird homework. It doesn't make any sense." Ed said to us. "Yeah, One is All and All is One, what's that mean?" Al asked him. "Maybe it's a riddle, sounds pretty stupid to me." I said to him. "Yeah, but she said if we don't find the answer to it in a month, we can't go through real training." Al said to me as Ed went into deep thought about what I just said to his brother. But then he started to stammer at this.

"WE WERE TRICKED INTO COMING TO THIS ISLAND BY THAT CRAZY, SADISTIC WITCH! WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ALCHEMY, ANYWAY?!" Ed stammered when his stomach growled, and he lay back down. "Let's sleep. We'll have to get up early tomorrow to look for something to eat." Ed said to us. "Yeah." Al said to him.

*Moments Later*

The three of us are asleep when some footsteps are heard while we're sleeping. Then something was heard when Ed woke up first. "What's up, Al? Need a restroom?" Ed asked sleepily when he sees his brother asleep, and a silhouette was there. I woke after Ed did. "What's wrong, Ed?" I asked sleepily when I saw a silhouette. But a masked person was in front of him, and he started to attack. Ed grabbed Al as we dodged that attack. But then Al begins to stir at what Ed did.

"What is it, you two? Go to the bathroom by yourselves." Al said sleepily. "You idiots! Wake up, wake up!" Ed and I said when he woke up, and the masked person attacked us, and we make a run for it. We became terrified by it when he faced us.

"Get out of here!" The masked person said to us. "What was that?" I questioned at what that masked person said. "We can't get out of here! If we leave now, we'll never learn anything!" Ed said when he attacks again. "Brother! Izzy!" Al called out. When he attacked us, and we moved aside, and Ed rolled over to his side and sat up.

"Damn it!" Ed cursed out when I slide on my side, which made me cringe in pain. "Ow, that hurts!" I said to myself in pain when we saw Al being attacked by that masked person. He dodged those attacked, and got hit by one. Then the masked person kicked him, sending him flying to the ground.

"Alphonse!" Ed cried out. When the masked person is getting ready to finish them off. But I stood up, ran up to him and punched him in the face. It didn't have any effect on him, and he almost attacked me, which I avoided it and land on the ground. "Well that didn't work, what will?" I asked myself.

"Damn it. Alphonse! Run!" Ed called out when the three of us ran off in different directions. The masked person sees that we ran off and he runs off. Al ran off on his own side, Alice ran off on her own side, I ran off on my own side while Ed ran on his own side. After that, Ed stopped at a nearby tree, and he was panting for breaths, and looked around for us. "Aw man. You'd better not be lost, or I'll kill you myself. Guys, guys." Ed said to himself when a hand appeared from behind and grabbed him, which made him scared by this while screaming.

"YOU DON'T WANNA EAT ME, I TASTE TERRIBLE!" Ed screamed out when it was revealed that I did that. "Edward, it's just me." I said to him as he stopped screaming, and turned to face me that and Al are with me. "Oh, Izzy, I'm so glad it's you. I was afraid the three of you got lost." Ed said as I shushed him for something. The masked person was looking for us. The three of us had our mouths shut when that happened, while we're shaking in fear.

*Flashback Stop*

A ruffle in the bush was heard and Ed turned to see what it was. We turned as well when a fox came out. "Look, it's a fox." Ed said when another one came out. "There's two of 'em." I said when the three of us faced each other. Then we started laughing our butts off when that happened. Unaware that, a noise was heard and some light appeared. A strange boy stood up when he noticed us and smirked at this.

*FF*

Al is in the water to get us something without damaging his blood seal, and the three of us are waiting. Then he stood up and walked back up to us. "Well, how'd it go?" I asked him. "Let's check." Al said, as he opened his chest to let the water out, and caught some fish for us. "We got ourselves some dinner!" The three of us said to each other. "Don't forget to dry yourself off. You don't wanna rust." Ed said to him. "Okay." Al said to him.

*Flashback Continues*

"Who was that person, Edward? Aw man, he's so scary. She said there were no wild animals." I said as I walked off. "I think he was more dangerous than any wild animal." Ed said to me as we kept on walking. "What should we do?" I asked him. "What can we do? Our ride's not coming for another month. First thing's first, if we're all hungry, then we can't fight." Ed said to her.

*FF*

A trap caught a rabbit. "Yes!" I shouted at our success. We all praise at our success. "My brother is a genius!" Al shouted out. "I can't believe he did that for us!" I shouted out also. "Looks like these traps work, even if you don't make 'em right!" Ed talked about our success. The rabbit was struggling against the robe around its legs. "So... How are we supposed to eat that, Edward?" I asked him when he revealed the knife.

"We kill it." Ed said to me. "Do we have to?" I asked him sadly when the rabbit kept struggling and looked up at us. We all gulped when the rabbit looked at us with a sad look, almost like begging one of us not to kill it or free it. Then Ed lent me the knife. "You guys do it." Ed said to me as I freaked out.

"No, you don't understand, Ed, you have to do it. There's no way either Al, I can, I've never killed an animal before." I said to him. "Well I haven't either, Izzy!" Ed said to me. "But that's not fair! You always make us do your dirty work!" I said to him. "I do not!" Ed said to me when a fox grabbed it and ran off, making us gasp at what it did.

"Stop!" The three of us called out as it ran off and we chased after it. "That's our rabbit!" Ed called out when the fox stopped its tracks and leaped in to attack one of us. But it bit on Ed's arm which made him scream in pain, and he fell back, and the fox ran back to its prey. "Brother!" Al cried out. "Edward!" I cried out when Ed sat up holding his injured arm.

"Are you okay? That bite looks bad." I said to him when Ed got mad. "THAT STUPID FOX!" Ed shouted as he went after it, and we followed him. We all started searching for the fox that took that rabbit from us. "When we find that damn thing, I'm biting it back." Ed said when Al, I saw something. "Brother." Al called when Ed walked over to us and saw that the fox had the rabbit, and its cubs came out. "It has babies." Ed said to us.

"I guess she's the mother." I said to him. When the fox gave its cubsthe rabbit, and they eat it, which made our stomachs turn at the sight of it. "Let's pass on the meat, and eatfish instead." Ed said to us. "Yeah. It's really giving me an ulcer." I said to him.

*FF*

The three of us are now fishing to catch some fish after I treated Ed's arm. I looked at his arm, and it started tobleed through. 'That wound really is bad on your arm, Ed, huh?' I thought to myself as we continued to just spent the whole day trying to catch some fish when sunset came by. "I'm starting to wonder if foxesare edible..." Ed said as I giggled a bit. "Just be patient, Ed." I said to him when we finally caught one. "Caughtone!" The three of us shouted when we started to create some fire.

"FIRE!" Ed shouted when he starts to create some fire while the three of us blow. The we finally created somefire. "Time to eat!" The four of us said happily. "FOOD!" The three of us shouted when the masked manappeared from behind. We groaned at this one when he stood up and looked down at us. We all ran away from him.

*Flashback Stops*

I looked at the markings on the tree and raised my hand up and touched it. But then I felt something on my hand which made me gasp and look to see that Ed had his hand on mine. We stared at each other for a while, when my heart started beating in my chest again. 'Again with that? Why did I ever laid eyes on him?' I thought to myself when. "Brother!" A voice called out. "Yeah, what's up?" Ed asked when Al grabbed his ear.

"Come with me." Al said as he pulled his brother and walked off. "Ow!" Ed cried out in pain as I followed them. The fire was totally trashed, and the fish got eaten. "What happened here?" Ed asked his brother. "What do you mean 'What happened?'?! You got hungry, and ate it all before dinner time!" Al said to him.

"It wasn't me." Ed said to him. "But... Look, there's your hand print." Al said to him as he knelt down. "Look at it carefully. It's a right hand." Ed said to him. "A right hand?" I questioned him. "So someone else is here." Ed said to us. When Ed stood up. "Well at least now we know why Teacher brought us here, she thinks we didn't get enough like last time." Ed said as he walks off. "Wait. Where are you going?" I asked him as he faced us. "To find the masked man. We might as well go ahead and get this over with now." Ed said to me.

*Flashback Continues*

Ed marked off what day we have. "We're not givin' up that easy, guys. One month, I think we can hack it." Ed said to us. The four of of spent the days making weapons and fire and a shelter for us. We started catching a fish, but Ed shows no luck on it. Then Al started catching a bird. Then the trap caught Ed rather than the animal, and we sweet dropped at this one. Ed marked off the days we just have. We started hiding from that masked man that night. Ed later marked off the other days we have on this island.

We stared at the mushrooms until we had an ulcer at the sight of them. Then Ed and I started fishing when he had no luck on it. He sighed at this and his arm hurt a little. The four of us are laying on the leaves after we ate. "Hey." Ed called to me. "Yeah?" I said to him. "So why are we here again, guys? I don't remember." Ed said to me. "Me either." I said to him when it started to rain. We sheltered ourselves inside a shelter we made when a mouse came.

*Flashback Stops*

Ed climbed on a tree, and he leaped onto a branch, and scanned the place. I started searching for that masked man as well while walking through some grass around me. But then I saw some mushrooms there. "Food for Ed and me." I said when I grabbed them. But then I saw a silhouette there.

"Edward! Look what I found!" I called out when the silhouette ran off, leaving me confused by this one. "Hey, what's up with him?" I asked myself when Ed came down. "Did you call me?" Ed asked as I faced him. "Edward!... Then... Who was that over there?" I asked about that strange silhouette.

*Flashback Continues*

The three of us encountered that masked man in the rain when he attacked Ed and hit him in the gut sending him to the ground. He started groaning but lays down in pain. I went in, and he hit me which sent my weapon off my hands. I became scared by this one. He even did the same thing to Al. The beating of the two of us continued when Ed saw a bug there lying dead.

"A cicada?... I see... It died... Death... If we die... The same thing will happen to us..." Ed said to himself when our beating continued long enough that Ed remembered his mother. He finally came to his senses when the masked man held me by the collar. "Let go of her...!" Ed called out when the masked man turned to see him there with a knife in his hands.

"You let go... Of my friend...!" Ed demanded when a long silence came by. 'Edward...' I thought when the masked man let me go and I fell to the ground. He walked off leaving Ed stunned by this until he dropped the knife and fell to his knees. He then became in deep thought about what he did. Then we spent the days on what Teacher meant.

"We talked about what would happen if we died here, remember?" Ed asked one of us. "Yeah, a lot of people would be sad." I said to him. "That's a subjective opinion, but look at it objectively. If I died, the world would continue to move on as if nothing had happened." Ed said to me. "Because you're just a small part of it." I said to him as he hit me. "Ow!" I cried out. "Don't call me small! Well, when the small part, in this case, me, dies, the body remains." Ed said to me.

"Water, carbon, ammonia, lime, phosphorus, salt, saltpeter, sulfur, magnesium, fluorine, iron, and aluminum, right?" Al asked him. "Right. The body's only a combination of those simple elements, nothing more. We're destined to be decomposed by bacteria and become nutrients for plants, and if you follow the process further, those plants nourish herbivores." Ed said to him.

"And those herbivores nourish carnivores... Even others like us... And though we lose awareness, our lives keep moving through the system." I said to him. The rabbit was struggling against the rope when Ed was getting ready, and the three of us prayed on that. "I'm sorry..." Ed said to it as he stabbed it.

"The great flow that maintains the universe, we call it the cycle of life, the course of nature. Each of us is just a small part of that current. One and the all. And yet without all the individual ones, they all can't exist. This flows by following grander laws we can't even imagine, to recognize that flow, and work within it, to decompose, and recreate..." Ed trailed off. "That is alchemy." The three of us said to each other.

(The Next Day)

A snake comes by and Ed throws a knife on it. "28 days." Ed said to us. "And hey, we got some breakfast." I said to him. The three of us are kneeling in front of Teacher after she arrives. "All right, kids. Let's hear it. What does it mean, that One is All, and All is One?" Teacher asked us. "The world is the all!" Al stated to her.

"And we are the one!" Ed and I stated to her also as she looked confused by what we just said. The three of us had stern looks on our faces when both Teacher and the man started laughing at this one. The four of us faced each other when that happened and she stopped laughing. "All right then... Let's begin your training." Teacher stated to us as we gasped and cheered. "Yeah!" The three of us cheered as we slapped fives against one another.

*Flashback Ends*

(Sunset)

I stared out in the distance after the others and I looked everywhere for that masked man. but we found some food along the way. But then I heard footsteps coming and stopped its tracks. "Izzy?" A voice called when I turned and saw Ed there. I smiled at this one. "Hey there, Ed." I said when he walked up to me, and stopped his tracks to look out at the sunset.

"Sometimes I wonder why. I'm entirely the one to blame for what happened back then. If only I hadn't been so helpful." I said to him. "Come on, don't blame yourself too much, Izzy. Things like this are bound to happen when we're together all the time." Ed said to me. "Edward. Are you unable to be yourself, unless you have your arm and leg back?" I asked him.

"You asked me something like that before." Ed said to me. "Wouldn't you like to stay by my side?" I asked him as he faced me. "Huh? What do you mean?" Ed asked me as I faced him. "Stay by my side all the time. Stay with me until the end of time." I said to him as the two of us now faced each other. "Me? Staying by your side?" Ed questioned me. "It's possible. You're indeed my partner, but you were also the person that I have a crush on." I said to him as he looked down.

"If we could find the Philosopher's Stone, we can finally get your bodies back to normal. However, if it was used to get your limbs back, it would also help you get your brother's body back. The Philosopher's Stone would probably cease to exist." I said to him as he looked at me. "And then what? What would happen to you?" Ed asked me. "I must stay by your side as a partner should do. Without that, I can stay by your side forever." I said to him.

A gust of wind came by and I walked up to him, but I tripped which made me gasp. Ed catches me in his arms and looks down at me, and I look up at him. The two of us just stared into each other's eyes, and Ed clenched his auto-mail hand into a fist. He embraced me tightly after that. I couldn't move my arms, so they stayed on his chest. "Izzy..." Ed trailed off as he embraced me tightly. "Isabella, I will stay by your side." Ed said to me as he pulled away.

"I swear I'm not just saying this, I will stay by your side." Ed said to me. "Edward..." I trailed off. "So you can stay by my side, too... And be my-" I cut Ed off. "Enough." I said as I looked up at him. "Stop, that's all I need to hear." I said to him. "Isabella, I truly am in-" Ed couldn't finish when I leaned up to place my lips against his. He seemed stunned by this and kissed back.

The kiss was more passionate until it had to end. We pulled away, and he held me close. "I love you, Edward." I said to him. "I love you, too, Isabella." Ed said to me as we pulled away and looked into each other's eyes for a moment. "You know, I think we shouldn't keep secrets from one another anymore, okay." I said to him. "Yeah." Ed said to me. "Let's go back with Al. He must be worried about us." I said to him. "Yeah, let's go." Ed said to me.

*FF*

Ed and I are walking through the forest to find our site. "Edward, are you sure about this?" I asked him ."About what?" Ed asked me. "About me getting into danger. Are you sure?" I asked him. "Heh. Do you even have to ask?" Ed said to me. "If I were to get kidnapped by the enemy along with your brother, and if they let me spill out some information, would you rescue us?" I asked him as we continued to walk back. "Yeah, I'll be there." Ed said to me.

*FF*

We finally made it and the fish started cooking in front of the fire. "I guess we aren't gonna find the guy in the mask." I said. "What's it matter? We already learned the only lesson this island has to teach us, right?" Ed asked her. "Yeah." I said to him. "When we were kids, we taught ourselves the answer to One is All, and All is One. We didn't understand everything that meant, it was a mistake to try to bring Mom back, and we learned that the hard way. The cycle of life only goes one direction, not even alchemy can change that." Ed said to us.

"I guess Teacher brought us here to remind us of that, and to give us time to think about the consequences." Al said when I placed my hand on Ed's auto-mail hand. "Yeah, you're right about that, Al." I said to him when I looked at Ed. 'I can't believe we're in a relationship, and not only as partners but as boyfriend and girlfriend.' I thought to myself.

*FF*

I had my back towards Ed while he slept. But I kept on shivering from the air around me. "Izzy?" I hear Ed's voice called as I turn over to face him. "Aren't you chilly?" Ed asked me as I nodded. "Yeah." I said to him when he extended his arm out. "Come here, I'll keep you warm." Ed said to me as I sat up and crawled over to him. I lay on his chest as he held me there. "Thanks, Ed." I said to him as I fell asleep. "No problem, Izzy." Ed said to me as he fell asleep.

(The Next Day)

The three of us are kneeling in front of Teacher, while Mason is with her. "Well, did you remember?" Teacher asked us. "Yes." The four of us said to her. "And did you realize?" Teacher asked us. "Teacher. We know what you're trying to tell us. It's true that they went against the laws of alchemy when they tried to bring their mother back. What you see before you is their punishment for that." I said to her.

"But we just want to regain the bodies we lost when we made that mistake." Al said to her. "Are you trying to regain something you lost because of a mistake by making another one?" Teacher asked him as he became stunned, and looked down. "We know it's not what you taught us, but we... We have to try, damn it. We can't just give up. Even though we may not have been able to... To bring Mom back, we're still alive." Ed said to her.

"So you're determined to move forward?" Teacher asked us. "Yes, ma'am." The four of us said to her as she sighs. "So be it." Teacher said when she noticed something. "Is there someone out there?" Teacher questioned as the four of us stood up. "What are you talking about? Of course, there is. Somebody was on the island when we were kids, too." I said to her.

"Impossible. Since I was the brute in the mask back then." Mason said that we were surprised by this when. "Wait a minute! That was you the whole time?!" Ed and I questioned him in shock. "Yes. I sent him to make sure you didn't die." Teacher said to us. "You mean... He..." Al trailed off.

"He nearly killed us!" Ed and I stammered when Teacher gasped at something. "It looks like we don't have time to discuss this, right now." Teacher said when we faced the other way and something raddled in the bush. And it was revealed to be a strange boy there. We were all really surprised by this. 'That boy, who is he?' I thought to myself about that strange boy.
