Summer Rose: Herald of the dead

Prologue

I was such a cold thing, Summer realized.

To die like this.

Her back hit the ground as blood poured all around her, she could hear the leaves being moved by the wind all around her and the shattered moon above her seemed to reflect that on the ground. Everything was so cold and the pain made her want to scream but the blood on her lungs did not let her, but even now a sad smile made her way onto her lips.

She had failed, failed her friends, failed her teachers and failed her family. She would never see sweet her sweet daughters grow, grow old with her husband and maybe… just maybe see this war finally come to an end.

The laughter of her enemies echoed in her ears. She was just imagining it she was sure but something changed in her she refused to die like this, she dared to dream. She wanted to see her daughters again, she wanted to have more than this "I-I w… I don't want to…" she struggled to speak as more blood than words came out of her lips. Her long ago shattered aura flared as her soul burned, reaching towards out to the moon with her hand she dared to dream that she could make it.

"I won't…" Her vision grew dark around the edges as she felt her life ending, Summer cried the wounds where too deep, her mind was already shutting down and she could feel her heart slowing down. Her body failed her and she felt her hand fall into the pool of her own blood as she felt her eyes stop working, desperate she prayed "someone… please" it was a hushed whisper that no one on Remnant heard.

Summer Rose died alone as her aura shattered for the second time, her death mourned by many, family and friend alike for years to come. From her ashes a new generation of hunters was born. But her soul did not die my Lord, as it fell from the cracks in her world the powerful soul found itself on the boundless abyss it felt your call my lord and found itself here on the kingdom of the death do you not see what that means, a new world prime for conquest a world where billions of souls call out for their new master… Mordekaiser!

Summer awoke with a gasp as she felt life return to her body, coughing she tried to stand up only to fall onto the cold and hard metal floor. "W-what? Where am I… who am I?"

"You have awakened" a booming voice made her jump in fright as she turned around to stare at the massive hulk of armor that watched her from its massive throne room. "I… who are you?"

The giant stood up as its footsteps made the fortress quake with each step it took, a massive mace on one of his hands "I have many names, but you will call me Master. For I have resurrected you, saved your soul from oblivion after years of falling in the Void… you should be thankful" Summer did not know why but she knew she had died, she did not remember anything. Nothing more than the pain and the dark, never ending dark with hateful eyes watching her fall for so long, she nodded her head "Thank you Master"

Mordekaiser chuckled as he approached the woman, naked as the day she was born she looked weak and not a threat to something bigger than an ant, but he saw it on the memories that they had managed to pluck from her shattered soul, she was a mighty warrior one worthy of being his herald in this new world "Your thanks mean nothing, you have to do something for me to prove that you really mean those words. But that is something that we will go over later, my servants tell me your name is Summer do you remember your last name?"

He knew that she did not know it, but the ancient warlord had come to realize how fascinating souls where and to always be weary of the unknown, Summer stood quiet for some time but then she shook her head "No, I only remember blood. I saw… two girls in my head and then darkness"

Family maybe, but Mordekaiser hardly cared for that information "You did not die, you were killed. Your life brutally cut short, they took everything from you even your memories, I offer you a chance at revenge" Summer looked up to him and then shook her head "I don't think I want revenge… I felt like… I think I was doing something important, I wanted to save someone"

"Oh?" now this was interesting, a hero had fallen into his kingdom. A failed hero but even so a hero nonetheless "Then maybe I might be able to help you save the one that you cared about" Summer jumped in excitement and smiled at him "You would Master?" such hopeful eyes, if he could smile he would have done so.

An evil grin that was hidden behind his metal helm "But of course, I have an interest in saving others too" he used his magic to manipulate his kingdom and opened a window where there was none before. "I also wanted to save something, when I was alive I was the most powerful warrior in my world. The gods feasted on the sacrifices that I made for them and yet when I died I got nothing, only the grey abyss" Mordekaiser looked at Summer's eyes and frowned, the color was something like that now that he really thought about it.

"The gods failed you?"-"They failed all of us, so I refused to fade. I carved my empire from nothing and I built this world, my kingdom of the death!" Summer let out a gasp as she saw the massive structures that ascended towards the endless skies and the bridges that connected everything so that they did not fall into the endless abyss.

There was silence for some time as Summer thought of what she wanted to say "Why do you want to help me, I don't think I was that important" Mordekaiser muttered an incantation as he carved a rune on the back of Summer, she yelped as the cold metal made contact with her bare flesh but that was nothing compared to the weird warmth that spread across her body.

One of her eyes changed as the grey disappeared by a dark green that was similar to Mordekaiser's own eyes "You are the bridge, you will walk between worlds and bring me to their world. I will walk among the living once more under the shattered moon" Summer felt something on her change as an echo seemed to scream something at her, but it was not powerful enough to stop her.

She smiled and nodded "Oh, ok! I… I think I want to go back to my world, that seems like the only place that I can get the answers I need. About who I was and… who I wanted to save"-"You will but not now, you failed before remember" Mordekaiser said as he snapped his fingers and something akin to cloth was placed over her to hide her naked body.

Summer saw the giant move towards another room, she followed with curiosity as Mordekaiser reached into the well of souls and crafted something new "You are my herald now Summer, I will make you into the mace that will shatter my enemies. A servant of the lord of the living and the dead… so you will not loose, even if takes us eons you will be better than ever before, after all you will be shaped in my image. And there is no else better than Mordekaiser"

Mordekaiser threw her way a weapon, Summer gasped as she felt the weight of it as it almost dragged her to the floor but her body went into auto pilot and she surprised herself by being able to wield it with her two hands "Interesting, so you have used two handed weapons before. Still… it won't save you" Summer barely had a chance to blink before something slammed against her and she was sent flying, landing with grace she glared towards what had attacked her and saw a metal construct shamble towards her "Your eternity has just begun" Mordekaiser said as he sat on his throne.

A/N: Got back into League recently and I want to start writing stories with Summer, so I decided to write a story of her and my main, Mordekaiser. Thank you for reading!
