Komi Shouko is woken up by a voice of excitement coming from below her room. The voice belonged to none other than her mother, Shuuko, who has kept the household alive and running with her contagious gleeful demeanor, good food, and most notable of them all her bright—and sort of—naive outlook of life, which she spoke of ad nauseam on the dinner table and other occasions. This attitude became the source of killjoy for the family, but also sometimes sparked joy, for they've accepted it for what it was, and who she is.
She always imagined herself young, recreating her previous days. And this was bound to genuinely happen.
Shouko rubbed her eyes, let out a blissful yawn and thought. "What is causing her to scream like that?"
Just a step before Shouko leaves her room, her mother rushes through her room, taking her aback.
She sees her mother, clad in uniform. Not just any school uniform, but her school's uniform.
Shouko's eyes widened in confusion, too much for her to take in. She checks her closet to see whether her mother wore it.
"I got one for me, don't worry." Shuuko winked, acting cool and trying her best to push the eagerness down.
Shouko's hands waved frantically, squealing in hysterics. She wished this was a dream, although it wasn't.
"You mean why am I wearing this uniform?" she questioned, she jumped with excitement, her body shaking with the obvious excitement which she couldn't contain anymore. "Your school asked me that I can be there for a day as a student! I truly am Forever 17!" she looked up and smiled, as if proclaiming to the gods and thanking them.
Shouko, already having enough of hearing the gimmick first thing in the morning, refused to believe it. Trying her best to get it out of her head, she lazily walked into the bathroom to get ready for school.
"She doesn't believe me, huh. They grow up so fast." Shuuko beamed. "Come down for breakfast when you're ready!" she added before going downstairs.
