Author's Notes: One thing I would like to address is that Duel Island will be 1st person perspective centered not only on Shaggy Eclipse, but it will also be told from his best friend's perspective, Jake Sunday. Basically, it is a Dual narrative story between the two best friends. The first chapter was all about Shaggy's field test, and likewise this one is all about Jake's field test. That said, enjoy the read!
Chapter 2:
Sunday Avenue
The intercom announced, "Testee Jake Sunday, please make your way to the field immediately, and remember to leave your deck behind!"
Shaggy saw the look on my face as I stood next to him, "Guess it's my turn now, huh, Shaggy?"
"Of course bro, go give it your all!" I stuck my hand out in the center.
The palm of my hand smacked against his with sheer confidence, "I plan to!"
Similarly to what happened with Shaggy, I made my way to the field when the metallic tabled appeared from beneath the ground. Each labeled from one to ten. Even the number capsule was resealed. I see...
A deep voice whispered, "This sucks! We could've ruled with the deck we built!"
"How do you think I feel?" I echoed while gripping my fist, "It's frustrating I know, but Shaggy made it work!" The Duel spirit of Armed Dragon Lv3 appeared next to me, "right, Spike?"
"That may be true, but Shaggy is in a different league!" The Duel spirit continued with a smug look, "Maybe you're just jealous!"
That was when I fumed, "Hey that's way out line, you jerk!" until my attention went towards the crowd that gave me odd glances which left me in thought... See what you did!
The Duel Spirit chucked, "You better make a decision on one of these capsules before it's too late, ya loser!" just before he faded away.
My hand crunched into a fist... No need to remind me! I looked over at the timer for an instance... 45 seconds...
Five seconds passed until I placed my hand over the #2 capsule. The other capsules sunk beneath the ground after the one I chose opened. As the instructions stated on the table. Within a matter of seconds, I set the deck into the duel disk, and braced it around my wrist.
Similar to before, the metallic table sank beneath the ground that was followed up by the echoed footsteps from the entrance from where I stood.
"Are you ready to begin your field test, Testee Jake Sunday?" An energetic voice caught my attention to a man with spiky blonde hair and brown eyes, who wore a purple coat over a green shirt and silver jeans.
"In a way yeah, but..." sweat fell from the side of my face, "Just who are you?"
"The name is Professor Andrew Reign." He said with confidence, "You can say I am also a prestige faculty member of Duel Island."
"Amazing!" I answered with glowing eyes at Professor Reign, "Then how about we get this party started."
Professor Reign nodded, "I like your style!" just as our duel disks activated with the hologram projectors activated.
JAKE SUNDAY: 4000 LP
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN: 4000 LP
"LET THE DUEL BEGIN!" We both yelled after the both of us drew five cards..
"As the test taker, you are allowed to make the first move." Professor Reign stated politely.
TURN 1: JAKE SUNDAY
That statement left me with a huge grin, "That's an offer I'll gladly take!" once I drew a card from the deck, and added it to my hand. Each of the cards I gave a quick glance at before a decision came to me.
Fake Hero, Elemental Hero Lady Heat, Elemental Hero Ice Edge, Elemental Hero Clayman, Hero's Wish, Elemental Hero Ocean
Armed Dragon Lv3 whispered, "What do you think we should do?
I thought to myself, "I've got an idea of sorts..."
One final glance at the cards in my hand was all I needed to do with only a couple of them in mind, "I summon Elemental Hero Ocean in attack mode!" Elemental Hero Ocean materialized onto the field...
Elemental Hero Ocean: LV: 4 ATK: 1500 DEF: 1200
"Next I activate the spell card, Fake Hero!" A holographic image of the spell briefly appeared on the field, "Thanks to this I can special summon an Elemental Hero from my hand, and I think I'll choose..." then showcased one of the monsters in my hand, "Elemental Hero Lady Heat!'
Elemental Hero Lady Heat LV: 4 ATK: 1300 DEF: 1000
Professor Reign answered, "That feels like it was a pointless effort, testee... you know the effects of Fake Hero, right?"
I smiled confidently at my opponent, "Of course I do, but I did it for a simple cause because..." my hand pointed over to Lady Heat, "Thanks to Lady Heat's special effect you take two hundred points of damage for each Elemental Hero on my field and currently... I've got a total of two!"
"An early lead in, not many would go with a decision like that!" He smiled confidently with his hands crossed!
I snickered, "Lucky for me, I'm not one of those many!" when Lady Heat nodded towards me, "Now go, Lady Heat use your special ability!"
With an inch of hesitation, Andrew's life points declined instantly.
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN LP: 4000 - 3600
"With that I end my turn!" I quickly withdrew Lady Heat from the duel disk as her holographic form digitized from the field, "Now's it your turn!"

Cards in Professor Regin's hand: 5
TURN 2: PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN
"Very well!" The Professor drew the top card from his deck and added it to his hand with a simple smirk, "Tell me Sunday, have you ever been attuned with spirituality!"
I blinked, "Once upon a time ago, but I don't see what that has to do with this field test!"
"HOW INSULTING!" Armed Dragon LV3 muttered!
"NOBODY ASKED FOR YOUR THOUGHTS!" I shouted quietly until I saw that glance from Profesor Reign, "What's so funny?"
The Professor showed the card in his hand, "Perhaps it'll be better to demonstrate!" a moment later a slot in his duel disk opened up, "I activate the field spell, Spirit World!" Only then, the entire arena was surrounded by a mist and a transparent pale shrine behind him.
I was in total awestruck at the scenery, "Woah, what a sight!"
"Don't get too distracted because I will discard the top two cards from my deck to summon Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi!" a muscular man, who wore a blue tunic, and fiery hair materialized onto the field.
Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi LV: 8 ATK: 2800 DEF: 2900
"That thing is strong enough to destroy Ocean!" I answered in a shocked tone.
Professor grinned sinisterly, "Of course it is! Now go Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi..." then pointed towards my monster, "Destroy his Elemental Hero Ocean!"
Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi generated fire from his hand and incinerated Ocean from the field.
LP: 4000 decreases to 2300
"Wait, why did I lose more lifepoints then what I should've taken from battle?" I asked.
He looked back at the shrine, "Thanks to Spirit World, whenever a spirit monster on my field destroys one of your monsters then you take one hundred damage equal to the number of stars it had!"
I glanced over the graveyard pile, "In the case of Elemental Hero Ocean... he was a four star monster... That caused me to lose four hundred additional life points... Just my luck..."
Andrew sets a card into his duel disk, "I'll end my turn by setting a card face down." a facedown card materialized behind Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi!"

Cards left in my hand: 3
TURN 3: JAKE SUNDAY
I took a deep breath, "About time now I can -"
Professor Reign interrupted, "Before you draw your next card, I forgot to share an important thing about Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi's special effect..."
"And what might that be?" I asked.
"If he deals any battle damage to your life points then you are forced to discard all the cards in your hand before your draw phrase!" He explained.
My eyes widened, "WHAT!" before I looked at the cards in my hand.
"I'm curious Sunday, haven't you questioned why my monster hasn't retracted from the field?" Andrew asked.
"The thought did cross my mind..." I answered curiously.
"Well that's because normally Spirit monsters return to the hand after the end of the turn, but Spirit World allows my monsters to remain on the field." Professor Reign explained.
"That would make sense... wait a second..." I answered in realization, "Something else is bothering me here Professor."
"Your monster is a level eight, and normally that would require two sacrifices to summon it." I answered in confusion, "So why was it so easy for you to summon just like that?"
He grinned, "Remember when I discarded the top two cards from my deck." which gave me the realization, "They were used as substitutes instead!"
"They did what now?"" My jaw dropped instantly at the thought.
"You heard that correctly, Sunday!" Professor Reign answered in an intimidating tone.
In the crowd...
"Hold up so rather than tributing monsters on the field, that professor can just use the deck itself?" Sabrina asked.
Shaggy nodded, "It looks that way, and since that spirit monster can stick around at the end now thanks to that field spell... it's only gonna make things tougher for Jake."
"That's honestly a great point, Shaggy, but..." Rory looked at the surrounding area that projected Spirit World, "Not gonna lie it almost feels like we've been transported to a different world!"
"You've said it Rory, this definitely has that fantasy vibe going." Lucian answered in amazement.
Sabrina saw the expression on her brother's face, "Shaggy, you think there's a way Jake can pull this off?"
Shaggy observed with his arms suddenly crossed, "If my hunch is correct about that test deck then... I think there's a way he could succeed."
"The three of you guys grew up together, right?" Lucian directed his attention towards me, "I know we just met, but if you pulled off an amazing victory then so could your friend!"
Rory nodded, "He's right, I'm sure your friend can pull it off!"
"I wish it were as simple as that..." Shaggy noticed how my expression was, "but I was just lucky with the right cards, and if I know Jake... he's not one to fall so easily" then his gaze went towards the shine, "But the big key here for him is to destroy that shrine..."
Sabrina said, "Let's hope..."
Back At the Field...
JAKE SUNDAY: 2300 LP
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN: 3600 LP
The spirit of Armed Dragon Lv3 appeared next to me, "I warned you this was gonna happen!'
I thought to myself, "The Duel just barely started and you're already throwing in the towel."
The spirit continued, "I'm just thinking logistically here, and -"
"No buts, we'll figure something out!" One deep breath was all I needed to send the three cards in my hand to the graveyard, and quickly drew the top card from my card... Come on lady luck! Then, I glanced at the card for an instance before it was placed gently into the duel disk, "Awesome, I activate Miracle Fusion!" a holographic image of the spell card appeared.
Professor Reign analyzed, "With that you can fuse any Elemental Hero monsters from your field or the graveyard."
"Exactly!" I nodded once my graveyard dejected two monster cards from, "I fuse Elemental Hero Clayman, and Elemental Hero The Ocean from my graveyard!" They both materialized onto the field and swirled together as a bright shine occurred.
A dark steel creature with silver canons attached to its arm and gems around his entire body materialized on my side of the field. His eyes glowed the color of crimson from the moment it set foot on the ground.
"Allow me to introduce you to Elemental Hero Gaia!" I raised my fist in the air as Gaia focused his view on Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi.
Elemental Hero Gaia LV: 6 ATK: 2200 DEF: 2600
"Impressive, but he's still not strong enough to defeat my monster." Profesor Reign stated.
I said, "Not yet, but that's about to change..." my hand extended towards the fusion monster on my field, "You see, due to his special effect, Elemental Hero Gaia can halve your monster's attack points and then gains the same number of attack points to itself!"
Andrew gasped, "But that would mean..."
"Bingo! My Hero is much higher then big, bright and fiery!" I grinned confidently .
Elemental Hero Gaia ATK 2200 increases to 3600
Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi ATK: 2800 - 1400
"Oh no!" Professor Reign said.
My focus was towards his monster, "Oh yes! Go Elemental Hero Gaia, destroy his monster!"
Elemental Hero Gaia loaded its cannon and launched his missiles directly at Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi which was followed by an explosion when the projection disappeared.
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN LP: 3600 decreases to 1400
"With that I end my turn!" My attention went back to Elemental Hero Gaia as his attack returned back to normal.
Elemental Hero Gaia ATK 3600 decreases back to 2200
Cards left in my hand: 0
Cards left in Professor Reign's hand: 4
In the crowd...
"Woah, I gotta hand it to Jake, that was impressive." Lucian complimented.
Rory was ecstatic, "Yeah, and he's currently in the lead."
"I'll say, isn't that right, big brother?" Sabrina asked
Shaggy remained observant.
Back At the Field...
JAKE SUNDAY: 2300 LP
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN: 1400 LP
TURN 4: PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN
"Nice approach, but it's my draw now!" Professor Reign drew the top card from his deck and added it to his hand, "First, I'll summon Izanami!"
A dark haired girl, with crystal eyes who wore a robe with a green ribbon tied around her waist, materialized onto the field. She wore a necklace that had fossilized teeth engraved around it.
Izanami LV: 4 ATK: 1100 DEF: 1800
"Only eleven hundred attack points?" I raised an eyebrow.
Andrew chuckled, "I never said my turn was finished..." that caught my attention, "Thanks to Izanami's special effect I get to discard one card from my hand and then add a spirit monster back from the graveyard to my hand." A card dejected from the card graveyard after he discarded one card. He took the monster card back.
"The only card I can think of is Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi!"
"If you were to answer that on a pop quiz, I'd mark it as wrong because..." He moves the top card from his deck into the graveyard, "By discarding the top card from my deck, I summon DARK DUST SPIRIT!"
A red creature with white hair and glowing yellow eyes appeared with horns over its head, and the entire body is covered by purple tattoos.
Dark Dust Spirit LV: 6 ATK: 2200 DEF: 1800
Suddenly, I was left stunned just as Elemental Hero Gaia shattered to pieces and disappeared, "What just happened to my monster?"
"Thanks to Dust Spirit's effect, all other face up monsters on the field are destroyed!" Professor Reign explained.
I asked, "If that's the case, then why is Izanami still on the field?"
He glanced back at the shrine, "It's thanks to the effect of Spirit World... All spirit monsters on my side of the field can't be destroyed by any card effects."
"Are you kidding me, more effects!" I gritted my teeth.
"Luckily for you, only one spirit monster can attack per turn thanks to my field spell!" Professor Reign directed his finger at me, "Dark Dust Spirit attacks Testee Sunday's life points directly!"
Dark Dust Spirit slashed me with its sharp claws before my life points dropped.
LP: 2300 decreases to 100
"Next I'll play a card facedown and end my turn." A card materialized facedown on his side of the field behind his monsters.

Cards in my hand: 0
In the crowd...
"A hundred lifepoints, what?" sweat fell off Lucian's face.
Rory said, "If he wasn't in a pickle before he definitely is now..."
"Things aren't looking good for him down there!" Sabrina answered worryingly with her view towards her older brother, "I mean don't you think its-"
Shaggy interrupted, "He'll be fine!"
"How can you still be sure about that?" Lucian asked.
A smile came on his face, "Because... I wouldn't have started dueling in the first place if it wasn't for him..."
Back At the Field...
JAKE SUNDAY: 100 LP
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN: 1400 LP
TURN 5: JAKE SUNDAY
I stood there with my hand off to the side and my eyes directed towards the life points. A hundred life points is all I got left... What am I gonna do?
"Are you giving up that easily?" Armed Dragon Lv3 whispered once more, "When the odds are this low!"
I know but...
"No ands ifs or buts about it!" The Duel Spirit pointed his claw towards my deck, "Don't you remember what it is Shaggy always says-"
A realization came to me, "It's never truly over until the last card is played!"
"Exactly!" Armed Dragon Lv3 nodded with a smirk before he faded, "You know what to do from here, Jake."
Professor Reign sneered, "What's the matter, Sunday? Getting cold feet already?"
"Not a chance!" I quickly drew the top card from my deck and stared momentarily with a tiny smirk, "Perfect!" then placed it ino the duel disk, "Now I activate the spell card, A Hero Lives!" A holographic image of the card materialized on my field briefly, "Now thanks to this, I get to special summon a level four or lower Elemental Hero monster from my deck."
"Any level four or lower Elemental Hero monster?" Andrew asked.
I looked through the deck, "You got it, and I think the monster I'm gonna summon is..." quickly placed it back into the deck after I selected the card, "Elemental Hero Stratos!" a projection of a Elemental Hero monster with blue armor, and wings that looked like wind turbines, appeared.
Elemental Hero Stratos LV: 4 ATK: 1800 DEF: 300
"Don't forget the downside of A Hero Lives costs you half your life points." Professor Reign stated.
LP: 100 decreases to 50
"It's worth the risk though." I said.
Andrew raised an eyebrow, "Oh, and why is that?"
I pointed towards my monster energetically, "There is this thing called special effect, and I am about to activate his own... That allows me to add one Elemental Hero monster from my deck to my hand." instantly, I peeked through my deck once more then selected a monster card and placed my deck back into the duel disk as it auto shuffled the cards.
"Taking that into account you haven't normal summoned a monster yet!" Professor reign pointed out, "But even so, you're only down to fifty lifepoints. So whatever you summon has to make or break it for you."
Without a thought I set the card in my hand into the graveyard as a light energy grew around Elemental Hero Stratos.
Elemental Hero Stratos ATK 1800 increases to 4300
"How did your monster gain those attack points?" Andrew asked.
I dejected the card from my graveyard, "Remember when I discarded the monster card I picked out from the deck." and showed it to The Professor, "its thanks to Elemental Hero Honest Neos... You see, by sending it to the graveyard Stratos gains an additional twenty-five hundred points!"
"By doing so that makes it strong enough to destroy both my monsters." Professor Reign stated.
"You better believe it does, and now go Stratos!" I pointed out to Dust Spirit, "Destroy his Dark Dust Spirit and wipe out the rest of his life points."
Elemental Hero Stratos charged towards Dark Dust Spirit at an immense rate before it shattered into dozens of pieces. The outcome created an immense shockwave around the field for a short period of time.
In the crowd...
"If my estimation is correct, Jake will have won this duel." Lucien gulped.
Sabrina smiled, "Oh yeah there's no way out of this for that professor."
"We're about to find out!" Shaggy stated confidently, "It's all based on this one attack alone!"
Back At the Field...
I caught my breath for a moment, "Looks like I win, Professor Reign!"
"You're correct, or at the very least... that's what the outcome would've been.." Professor Reign chuckled as he extended his hand out to the side, "If it wasn't for this trap card.. Damage Diet!"
"What is that?" I asked.
"It's a powerful card that allows me to only take half the damage I would've taken from the difference between your monster's attack and my monster..." he explained.
I argued, "Hold up, but Stratos was at forty-three hundred life points and yours only had twenty two hundred that should've-"
"Twenty-one hundred life points, and half of that is one thousand and fifty." Professor Reign continued with a grin, "and my life points were fourteen hundred. So go ahead and do the math..."
"Ah man, I was so close..." I complained with my head down.
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN LP: 1400 decreases to 350
He asked, "Would that be all?"
I sighed, "Just go ahead and make your move."

Cards in Professor Reign's hand: 3
TURN 6: PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN
"That was a valiant effort Testee Sunday, but I'm afraid it ends here..." Andrew answered confidently until everything on the field shattered to pieces, "What's going on? Spirit World... NO! The entire field is gone!" until he caught my laughter slowly increasing, "Care to explain how you did this?"
I pointed to The Professor, "Not me... it's what you did!"
"Me?" He continued.
"Remember when you destroyed Elemental Hero Ocean, and I was forced to discard my entire hand, and..." I answered calmly as a card dejected from the graveyard, "This card was among them!"
Professor Reign raised an eyebrow, "What was it?"
I revealed the card from the graveyard that depicted Lady Heat's hands in the air, "It's a spell card known as Hero's Wish which only works in my graveyard during your standby phase... Once I have up to six Elemental Hero monsters in my graveyard then every card on the field is completely destroyed from the field." a moment later I swung my hand to the side, "But it comes at a cost..."
"I've got a sinking suspicion of where this is gonna lead!" Professor Reign answered calmly in realization, "but please reveal what the cost is..."
"Each player takes a hundred points of damage for each card in their hand." I explained.
Andrew's eyes widened, "Hold on, but-"
I waved my hand in the air, "My hand is completely empty, but you on the other hand have four cards which means..."
Professor Reign took a deep breath, "I lose the rest of my life points, and therefore also lose the duel as well!"
PROFESSOR ANDREW REIGN: 350 LP decreases all the way to 0
At the stands..
"He won!" Lucian's jaw dropped.
Rory echoed his remark, "For real!"
"I'm so relieved!" Sabrina took a deep breath with a smile.
Shaggy grinned with two slow claps, "Wait a go bro!"
Back At the Field...
"I..I... I..." I muttered to myself at the thought of what just happened.
Armed Dragon Lv3's spirit yelled, "Get yourself together ya wimp!"
I took a deep breath, "I know, but..."
"I TOLD YOU NO BUTS!" he continued in annoyance, "Now again act natural!"
I was lost, "But I am acting natural..." then paused when the people in the stand saw my reaction, "Ugh nevermind!"
"Gotta hand it to you, Testee! That was one heck of a way to end a duel!" Professor Reign approached me while clapping his hands.
"I wasn't even sure if I was gonna cut it!" I answered ecstatically, "It was honestly such an awesome killer combo that I couldn't resist."
He nodded, "Everyone has that passion and drive that keeps them going and needless to say I had my doubts at first too, but... there is definitely some room for growth!"
"So then where do I stand?" I asked as sweat fell down my face, "Not to be rude or anything, but I'm just curious to know how the field test went."
"Yes, of course, let us see where you stand Jake Sunday!"
Similarly to what happened after Shaggy and Rory's field test, Professor Reign activated a button on the remote that generated a number increasing on the screen. Just like before, it caught everyone's attention. The score displayed next to my name slowly came to a halt after thirty seconds.
Applicant: Jake Sunday Written: Not Yet Graded Field Test: 602
Professor Reign gently slid his hands into his pockets, "Congratulations Jake Sunday, and welcome to Duel Island!"
"YOU HEAR THAT EVERYONE I MADE IT INTO DUEL ISLAND!" I shouted across the field as loud as I could, "THIS IS TOTALLY AMAZING!"
At the stands..
Sabrina laughed quietly as sweat fell off, "That's one way to get excited."
Lucian tapped his ears repeatedly, "Ditto, but could he tone down the noise!"
Rory nodded, "I need to get some q-tips, but still..." which suddenly got caught off by Shaggy's burst of laughter, "What's so funny?"
"Just remembering something that's all." Shaggy answered happily.
The sea green haired girl blinked, "Must've been a good feeling then..."
"Something like that.." Sabrina echoed her brother's remark.
Suddenly, the sounds of roaring echoes from a nearby staircase went off. That also caught the attention of the others at the exhaustion in my breath, "Bro, you okay?"
Immense joys of tears bursted through my eyes, "I.. I almost thought I wasn't gonna make it into The Academy!"
"You were able to make it, Jake!" Shaggy placed his hand on my shoulder, "There was just no way you couldn't have made it in."
I covered my eyes as water continued to burst, "I know, but it just makes me so happy!"
"At least loosen up on the waterworks." sweat fell off the side of Shaggy's cheek.
Rory and Lucian looked at Shaggy, "This kind of thing happens often."
"You could say that!" Shaggy admitted casually.
I argued, "No it doesn't!"
"Pretty sure it does!" Sabrina giggled playfully towards me.
Armed Dragon Lv3 spirit, "Aww, Jakey Wakey is still such a big softy on the inside!"
I yelled back, "Hey, don't you start with that now too..." that was when I noticed the others with the same remarks as before.
Shaggy and Sabrina sighed, "He's having that phase again!"
I fell on my knees with my head down and complained, "I tell you I get no respect at all!" that was followed up by teasing laughter from the others.
That was when a loud growl erupted from each of us which left a rather odd silence amongst the entire conversations. That was before we all started to laugh embarrassingly towards one another.
"After dealing with all that.. I think some lunch will do!" Shaggy answered embarrassingly.
Sabrina nodded, "Ditto, I could kill for some pizza right about now!"
"LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN!" I shouted in excitement with starry eyed, "Cause truth be told I skipped breakfast this morning!"
Shaggy and Sabrina were in shock, "You did what?"
"Being under pressure for one of the toughest entrance exams in the dueling world... I can't say I blamed the guy." Lucian answered with a low laugh.
Rory echoed his remarks, "I nearly contemplated about that too, but I made sure to have a quick granola bar to maintain my appetite for a small portion!"
"All I had was a PB&J, and that managed to work out!" Shaggy admitted.
Sabrina nodded, "Yeah it was about the same for me too!"
I complained, "Hey, no need to rub it in!"
"Even I told you we should've eaten something small, loser!" Armed Dragon Lv3 echoed.
Shut it you... I thought to myself as the vein on my forehead popped momentarily with his laughter echoed in the back of my mind. I wanted to argue back, but with the way they all looked at me I had to brush it off... instead of making myself look like a bigger fool. "Well, what do you guys think? Should we go for it?"
"I'd be totally down of course!" Shaggy nodded instantaneously as his attention went to the other two testees, "Do you guys wanna join?"
Lucian and Rory laughed in unison with an embarrassed frown on their face which left Sabrina lost, "You two okay?"
'Oh it's nothing big.." Rory handwaved in the air, "Lucian and I were gonna try and meet up with an old friend shortly after these exams were done."
Lucian's eyes dimmed upon that remark, "Yeah, we're gonna try to see what they've been up to and play a little catch up!"
Shaggy clapped his hands together with a smile, "Don't worry I totally get where you're coming from.. It's always great to reunite with an old friend, If you know what I mean!"
Rory answered nervously, "You could say that again..." As her eyes began to drift away.
Lucian placed his hand on Rory's shoulder, "Anyway, we should probably get going!"
"You're right, we don't wanna be late!" Rory brought out a small smile before they both started to walk away.
At that moment I just couldn't help but say, "Lucian, Rory... do you guys have a quick moment?"
"What is it, Jake?" They asked calmly.
I took a deep breath with a bright yet nervous smile, "I know we just met and all, but honestly once we get to Duel Island... We'll see each other's strength with our true decks!"
Lucian grinned, "You could say that again!"
"I think this is gonna be the start of a great friendship!" Rory answered kindly with her gaze and winked at my best friend, "Isn't that right, Shaggy?"
Shaggy tapped his chest with two fingers and directed towards the sea green haired girl, "You know it!"
I have gotta say that writing from Jake's perspective is honestly so fun because of the interaction with Armed Dragon lvl3, and the entire gag of how only Jake can see him with the others thinking he's a little weird is one of my favorite parts about writing in his pov. I know how as a gag that if used excessively that it can get old really fast which is why I'll be savoring those moments throughout the story as it progresses. When it comes to Jake's field test, I already knew his test deck would be elemental hero based, but I didn't want to go with the traditional route that was showcased by Jaden Yuki or Aster Phoenix from GX. I felt it would be more appealing to give some love and shine to the lesser known Elemental Hero monsters which I felt was so right with this particular field test through Jake.
Lastly, there are a couple breadcrumbs I did hint at for the future of the story near the end of the chapter, and I can't wait for you all to see where it goes because from here on out we'll be in the setting of Duel Island. Outside of this, the next chapter will be told once again through Shaggy's point of view which I am really excited about and I hope you all are too.
