Bungle in the Jungle

(Third-Person POV)
*The sun was setting behind Zeta Point as a red light blinked on a map of South America*
Dr. Z: A dinosaur! The Alpha Scanner has detected a dinosaur, so let's get a move on!
Ursula:*off-screen* Yeah, give us a minute. *he turned to Ursula & Zander, who were playing chess. Ed was sitting in-between them, eating a box of Pokey**on-screen* So I guess it's my move, right?
Zander: Yes, it still is. I thought you said chess is a game of quick decisions.
Ursula: Yes, but I meant for you, not for me. *her Queen piece had her hairstyle on it* What am I supposed to do when all of your men are surrounding my beautiful Queen?
Ed: Don't worry, 'cause no matter what you do, you're gonna lose anyway.
*He took a bite from a chip & laughed. Ursula swiped away his Pokey box*
Ursula: Hey, who asked you?
Dr. Z: Hello! Am I talking to myself here!? I need you bozos to go out on a mission now!
*Ursula jumped up*
Ursula: Right away, air! Your fearless team stands before you ready for duty! *she kicked the table, knocking over the chess pieces. Zander caught the board* There, I made my move.
Ed: How'd she do?
*The only piece remaining was her Queen piece*
Zander: Incredible.
Ursula: Well, look at that. I won!
(Maya's POV)
*It's been a few weeks since we went to London. Today, me, Rex, & Zoe were entering Max's house as he ran into the closet under the stairs*
Rex: Uh, hey, Max? What are you doing in the closet?
*He poked his head out*
Max: Shh! *whispering* Quiet! I'm test out Chomp's sense of smell!
Maya: How come?
Max:*whispering* 'Cause it's fun! I'm trying to hide from him to see if he's got a good enough nose to find me. *he chuckled. just then, we heard a sniffing sound coming from upstairs* Quiet! Here he comes!
*He hid in the closet again as Chomp appeared, sniffing*
Rex: What's up, Chomp? Are you looking for something?
*Chomp sniffed the floor & went to the closet door. He scratched at it & Max opened the door*
Max: Hey, way to go! You found me! Good job! *he went hug Chomp, but he went past him & pulled out a bag of dog food* Wait. You smelled dog food?
*Me, Rex, & Zoe giggled*
Rex: Good nose! At least he'll never go hungry!
Zoe: That's right! Looks like your smell test was a success!
Maya: I'd give it a ten.
*Max picked up the bag, with Chomp still holding on to it*
Max: Yeah, he'll always be able to find me, as long as I smell like dog food. *then he started sniffing* Speaking of smells . . . *he ran into the kitchen* Hamburgers, my favorite meal of all time! And your hamburgers are the best, Mom! Don't mind if I do.
*Mrs. Taylor took away the plate before he could take one*
Aki: Nice try. You know you have to wait until dinnertime.
Max: Just one? Please, Mom, please?
Aki: You have to wait for everyone else.
Max: I'll take it to my room and eat it.
Aki: No, Max.
*I giggled again. You gotta admire a guy who loves food*
Zoe: Wow, when it comes to food, Max and Chomp are just alike.
Rex: Yeah.
*Suddenly, our Dino Holders started beeping*
Maya: It's another one!
Max: Oh!
*We all rushed to the D-Lab*
Reese: The signal is coming from the jungles of the Amazon.
*Dr. Taylor had multiple bottles in his arms while we stood on the teleporter*
Dr. Spike Taylor: The Amazon. The world's largest rainforest, home to countless exotic plants and animals! Oh, boy, what I wouldn't give to be able come along!
Max: You say that every time, Dad, but you can't.
Rex: Leave everything to us, Dr. Taylor.
Dr. Spike Taylor: Well, all right, then! *he started handing Max the medicine, one by one* Now, listen. Take this for insect bites. Use this in case of stomachache. Use this one for snake bites. *Max started to juggle the medicine* And this is to keep piranhas away, and this one is in case of bad breath!
Max: Uh, thanks, Dad.
Zoe: We better get going, Max or the Alpha Gang's gonna get there before us.
Maya: And we've already lost two cards to them. We can't afford to lose anymore.
*Me, Zoe, & Rex took out our Dino Holders*
Max: Yeah, good point. *he got out his* Ok, gotta go, Dad.
Dr. Spike Taylor: You kids be careful now!
*We pressed the button on our Dino Holders & teleported.
(Third-Person POV)
*All the medicine bottles landed on the floor of the transporter*
Dr. Spike Taylor: Agh! All of the treatments didn't transport. Maybe I'd better go wi -
Reese: They're fine. Chomp and the others will protect them.
Dr. Spike Taylor: Not from bad breath.
(Maya's POV)
Then we appeared in a thick jungle that was full of fog*
Max: Now, which way to the dinosaur?
Rex: Well, the transporter only puts us in the general area, but it doesn't tell us which way.
Maya: Maybe we should talk to Reese about fixing that when we get back.
Rex: Maybe.
Zoe: Hear anything, Paris?
Paris: Uh-uh.
Max: Remember, this could be a dangerous jungle, so be very careful, every -
*Suddenly, he slid down a hill & landed in a small pond*
Maya: Max, are you alright!?
*He got up, a little muddy*
Max: Yeah. See what I mean?
*Me, Rex, & Zoe slid down to him*
Zoe: Need some help?
Rex: Could've been worse. At least you didn't land in quicksand.
*Max got out of the water*
Max: That cliff should have a warning sign on it. *just then, he notices something* Hey, where's Chomp?
Rex: Huh?
*We all looked around, but didn't see him*
Maya: That's weird. I know he was with us when we transported in.
*Max looked up the cliff*
Max: Chomp? Are you up there? Can you hear me? *he didn't appear or answer. so we started looking for him* We're never gonna find him in this place. Poor Chomp.
Rex: You know what, Max? Maybe Chomp's still playing hide-and-seek.
Max: Playing what? Oh!
*He remembered when he tested Chomp's sense of smell earlier*
Zoe: That's right! He probably thinks it's your turn to find him now.
Maya: But this isn't exactly the ideal place for that kind of game. In a jungle this big, he's going to get lost or worse.
Max: I know! You don't think I know that? You gotta help me find him! Come on!
*We all split up to look for Chomp*
Maya, Rex, & Zoe: Chomp!
*Rex, Ace, Lulu, & I met up with Zoe & Paris met up again by a river*
Rex: Any luck?
Zoe: No.
Maya: Hey, where'd Max go?
Rex: What - What do you mean? I thought he was with Zoe.
Zoe: No!
*All three of us sighed*
Rex: Where are you, Max!?
Zoe: Can you hear us!? Say something!
Maya: Max!
*No answer*
Rex: Great, now we lost 'em both! This trip is a disaster!
Zoe: Let's make sure Paris, Lulu, and Ace don't get lost in this jungle, too.
Maya: Good idea. Let's keep them in their cards.
*Zoe & Rex nodded. Then we turned Lulu, Ace, & Paris into cards. Suddenly, we heard a loud growl*
Rex: Let's go!
*We ran towards the sound*
(Third-Person POV)
*High above the jungle, the purple balloon with the Alpha Gang's symbol on it. Ed & Zander were rowing the boat & Ursula was sitting behind them, shouting orders*
Ursula: Stroke, stroke, stroke! And stroke! Come on, you two! At this rate, that dinosaur will be extinct again before we find it. Pull that oar! Let's go, guys! I'm helping as much as I can.
Ed: Uh, maybe you could help a little less?
*Just then, Zander noticed something ahead & pointed to it*
Zander: Ah! One spiky-backed Saltasaurus straight ahead!
Ursula: Really? *said dinosaur was right ahead of them* My, my that's a good one too! Lucky I found him! *then she noticed something* Hmm? Why haven't we landed yet? Get this gasbag on the ground!
Ed & Zander: Right.
Ed: Hey, sounds like she wants us to land this in a hurry.
Zander: We'd better give the admiral what she wants.
Ed: Yep, here goes!
*They let go of the oars*
Ursula: Uh-oh!? *the boat dropping like a rock* Are you two nuts!? This is a rental!
Zander: Yeah, and it's on my card!
*The boat crashed*
(Maya's POV)
*As we looked ahead, we saw the dinosaur up ahead*
Rex: There it is! It's a Saltasaurus!
Zoe: You're right! I can tell 'cause it has all those bony plates in it's back.
Maya: Yeah. Lucky for us, it's another herbivore and not a meat eater.
Zoe: No kidding!
Rex: Ok, Ace, it's time for you to go to work!
*He pulled out his Dino Holder*
Zoe: Uh-oh!
Rex: What?
*The Saltasaurus was coming straight towards us*
Maya: Run!
*We got out of the way just as the dinosaur crushed a tree with it's body. Suddenly, a blue glow appeared up ahead & a very familiar Spinosaurus appeared in front of the Saltasaurus. The area turned blue & purple*
Rex: Haven't we seen that Spinosaurus before?
Maya: We have. That's Spiny. The Alpha Gang's Spinosaurus.
Rex: Oh yeah . . .
*Just then, we heard a a very familiar laugh. Then we saw the Alpha Gang. Ed & Zander had bumps on their heads*
Ursula: I hope you didn't forget us. Need me to jog your memory? Ursula, Zander, and Ed. Hi.
Zoe: The old lady again.
*Ursula got angry & went to attack Zoe, but Ed & Zander held her in place*
Ursula: Would you stop calling me old!? I'm not old!
Ed: She said "bold lady," not "old"!
Zander: Right! Bold, strong, brave!
Ursula: Oh. All right, then. Get in there Spiny and tear them all to pieces!
*Spiny roared & the Saltasaurus back. Spiny jumped to attack, but the Saltasaurus blocked it with it's back.
Ursula, Zander, & Ed: Go! Hit him again!
Rex: I don't think we want to put Paris, Ace, or Lulu out there.
Maya: Good idea.
Zoe: What a lousy time for Max to disappear!
*A flock of birds flew away from the fight as Spiny & the Saltasaurus got ready to go again. Spiny rushed at the Saltasaurus & bit it on the neck. It thrashed around until Spiny let go. Then it charged at Spiny & hit him with a big crash. The force caused a powerful wind*
Rex: Whoa! Incredible!
Zoe: It looks like Saltasaurus is gonna win!
Maya: Go, Salty! Get him!
Zander: Ursula, this is not going well. Throw in the towel.
Ed: That thing is kicking Spiny's butt.
Ursula: Thank you both for your confidence. *she took out a card* I have another trick up my sleeve. Did you forget the special card that Dr. Z gave us?
Zander: Oh, yeah, the Move Card.
Ed: But you don't have sleeves.
Ursula: It's just an expression, you dimwits! Now quit wasting time! Swipe that card, and let's swipe that dinosaur!
*Zander swiped the card in his Alpha Scanner*
Zander: Go, Spinosaurus! Tail Smash!
*Spiny began to glow blue & swung his tail at the Saltasaurus, causing damage*
Zoe: Ahh! Saltasaurus, move out!
*Spiny kept swinging his tail & hitting the Saltasaurus until it fell over*
Rex: No!
Maya: Salty, get up!
Ursula: This battle's over. All right, now, Spiny, finish it with one last shot! Go on!
Zander: You can do it!
*Spiny stood over the Saltasaurus, getting ready to finish it off. It was now panting & looking tired. Spiny went to bite it, but it hit him with it's tail,
Ursula: I can't take the pressure anymore! Get in there, Spiny, and finish him off!
Zander: Um, Ursula?
Ursula: What?
*The Alpha Scanner was flashing red lights*
Zander: This says his energy is low. Maybe he skipped breakfast.
Ed: The most important meal.
Ursula: What are you talking about!?
*Just then, Spiny turned back into a card*
Rex: Hey, he returned into a card!
Maya: And look! Saltasaurus is leaving!
*Saltasaurus was waking away*
Rex: Oh, no! Let's go after it!
Zoe: Right!
*We ran after the dinosaur*
Rex: Where do you think it's going?
Zoe: I don't know, but it looks like it's chasing something.
Max:*off-screen* Help me, someone!
Maya: Max?
*We saw Max was running away from the Saltasaurus*
Rex: Hey, Max!
*He turned to us*
Max: Huh? Hi!
Maya: We've gotta get across the stream somehow!
Zoe: That's not our only problem!
*The Alpha Gang was coming down the stream in a rowboat*
Ursula: Row faster! Renting this rowboat was a really good idea. Glad I thought of it. *she turned to us* Oh, look, it's those kids again. Why so glum? Up a creek without a paddle? Ha!
*Getting an idea, me, Rex, & Zoe jumped into their rowboat*
Rex: Grab the oars, Zoe!
Ed: Hey, let go of my head!
*We took control of oars & rowed to the other side of the river. Zoe took one oar & Rex & I took the other*
Ursula: Why don't you three go jump in the lake!?
Zander: Technically, this would be called a stream.
*We made it to the other side & jumped out of the boat*
Zoe: You can have your boat back now. Thanks for the ride!
Rex: See ya!
Maya: Have a nice trip!
(Third-Person POV)
Ursula: Why me? I try to be a good villain. They always set me up for a fall.
Ed: A fall, a fall, a fall!
Ursula: Yes, I just said that. Uh-oh!
*Up ahead was a waterfall*
Ed: No, I mean a waterfall!
*Their boat went over the waterfall & they screamed as they fell into the water below*
(Maya's POV)
*We caught up with Max just as he was trapped on a cliff by the Saltasaurus*
Maya, Rex, & Zoe: Oh no!
*The Saltasaurus was just staring at Max & sticking out it's tongue like a lizard
Max: Hey, Chomp!
Rex: We've gotta help him, girls!
Zoe: Should we call out our dinosaurs?
*Suddenly, as if on cue, Chomp jumped out of the bushes & ran towards Max*
Max: Chomp, it's you! *Chomp stood in front of him & Max undid from his visor, which was tied to it for some reason* All right, now, this better work! *he pressed a button & it turned on* Yes! Ready to go, Chomp? *he turned Chomp into a card & swiped it* Dino Slash! Go, Triceratops! *Chomp grew to his big size & roared. both he & the Saltasaurus stood over the waterfall. then Chomp charged at the Saltasaurus & pushed him back with his horns. Saltasaurus bit down on his head-fin* Hang in there, Chomp!
*Chomp got free & tried to push back again, but it didn't have any affect because of the spikes on Saltasaurus' back*
Rex: Whoa! It'll be hard for Chomp to get through those spikes!
Zoe: Watch out! It's coming from behind!
*Saltasaurus swiped it's tail underneath Chomp's legs, tripping him. Max's Dino Holder flashed red*
Max: Uhh . . . Come on! Don't let it beat you, Chomp! Get up!
*Chomp slowly got up as the Saltasaurus charged at him. They both roared at each other & Chomp managed to throw it up into the air*
Maya: Alright, Chomp!
Max: Way to go! Now finish it, yeah! *he took out his Move Card* Electric Charge!
*Chomp was hit with a bolt of lightning, charged at the Saltasaurus, & hit it with a burst of electricity. It hovered in the air as got electrocuted. It then fell into the water & turned back into a card. Chomp turned back into a card too*
Zoe: Did Chomp win?
Rex: Yeah, he clobbered that Saltasaurus!
Maya: Way to go, Chomp!
*Chomp's card landed in front of Max*
Max: You fought so hard, you turned back into a card. *he swiped it & Chomp was back in his mini form* You did it, Chomp. You won! *Chomp jumped into his arms* It's great to have you back. *he nuzzled Chomp* Let's never get separated again.
*Chomp bit his cheek. Rex picked up the Saltasaurus card & handed it to him*
Rex: Hey, Max! Here. You totally get the credit for this one.
Maya: Yeah. You were incredible today.
Max: Thanks! *just then, his stomach growled* Oh, man. Am I starved!
*Zoe looked down & noticed something*
Zoe: Look!
Max: Huh? *we all looked down & saw a lizard on the ground* Oh, yeah, I forgot about that lizard.
Rex: Where'd you find it?
Max: In the jungle, running from the Saltasaurus just like me.
Maya, Rex, & Zoe: Ah! That means . . .
*It started to crawl away. Chomp went after it*
Maya: Salty wasn't chasing you, he was chasing the lizard.
Ursula:*off-screen* Listen up, you beastly brats! *we looked up & saw the Alpha Gang in their broken down balloon, slowly flying away**on-screen* you may have won this round, but I guarantee You haven't seen the last of the Alpha Gang! *all three of them were soaked* You'll be getting a big, fat bill for the damage you got to this blimp!
Zander: Yeah, and a dry-cleaning bill, too, 'cause I'm sweating like a pig here!
Ed: Whatever he said!
Ursula: All right! *with Ed & Zander* Now let's stroke!
Zander: Next time, we're renting one with a motor!
Ed: I hear ya.
Zoe: That old lady never quits, does she?
Ursula: I told you before I'm not old! Got that!?
*Before we left, I did some sketches of the jungle plants & animals*
*It was night by the time we made it back to Max's house. We told Dr. Taylor what happened in the jungle*
Dr. Spike Taylor: That makes perfect sense, actually. Of course Saltasaurus was chasing the lizard.
Rex: How can you be sure?
*Dr. Taylor took out Salty's card*
Dr. Spike Taylor: Well, "Salta" is the name of the town in South America where it's fossils were first discovered. The translation of the name "Saltasaurus" is "lizard from Salta."
Zoe: So it's a lizard, too!
Dr. Spike Taylor: That's right. When it saw that lizard, it thought it was one of it's own kind , and that's probably why it chased it.
Maya: I understand.
*Zoe looked inside the house*
Zoe: Max, did you hear that!?
*Max was sitting at the dining table, gorging on the hamburgers. Chomp was next to him, eating out of his food bowl*
Max: Did you say something?
Zoe: No, nevermind!
Rex: You were right! Those two are just alike!
Maya: Yep!
*His Mom came up to him & Chomp*
Aki: My goodness, where are your manners? Slow down! You're both eating like you were raised in a jungle.
*Max stopped eating & looked at Chomp*
Max:*whispering* If only she knew, huh, Chomp?
*Chomp just went back to eating. I giggled. Like two peas in a pod*
