A/N:
Canon Achives ~ Thank you for your review. I agree with everything. With the finale the sadness kicked in, that we will never see Loki again, that his story came to an end. After I watched several Youtube videos/ Interviews (because I just couldn't accept that :D) ..I'm quite sure we will see him again! He is in this new position not just to sit there passively but to actually take action..besides Tom Hiddleston and Loki are loved so much, they just can't let him go at that point.
Mysecretgarden95 ~ Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it. True, I read that a lot and I really hope that she does..maybe not immediately but she will. There is such a strong connection. Even though they didn't kiss or anything like that in season two (I think for various reasons), you could see in their eyes that there are strong feelings and I think she wouldn't just accept the fact that he's out of reach now..even though she might not admit it right away ;)
I hope you like this chapter. I loved writing it! And sorry about the delay. There's a lot going on right now so it may take some time at the moment. But to put it in Lokis words:
..I won't let you down! :)
- And as you left my heart was beating like a drum
Whatever you did to me can't be undone -
It was dark when Sylvie left the office. The whole day she couldn't really concentrate and everything took twice as long.
She was exhausted and just wanted to fall into bed, closing her eyes.
"Hey there"
Mobius sat on her truck, waving at her. She sighed.
"Come to poke a little more, Mobius? Or do you just want to chat a bit more about green lights and your psychological theories? Come on..I'm too tired to argue. Easy game for you."
Mobius pulled out a bottle of sparkling wine and two glasses.
"Came to drink."
Sylvie sat down beside him and he tossed her a glass, half full. She looked at it sceptical.
"I'm Asgardian Mobius, that ringing a bell?"
He laughed and filled the whole glass.
"Almost forgot."
Sylvie took a big gulp and breathed out in release.
"Great idea. Don't try to keep up with me, it won't work."
She emptied her glass and filled it up again.
Mobius grinned, "I have a good story. One time Ravonna brought rum to the office. It was one of her pruning anniversarys.."
Sylvie looked at him in disgust, but he just shook his head.
"No, hang one. That's a good one, I promise. So the day was business as usual and the evening came. Everyone was there, Dox and X- 5, B- 15, myself..so, basically everyone. First we had a meal, no expense or effort was spared. Already some bottles of wine where emptied but then she pulled out the rum."
He paused for a second, grinned at the memory.
"So Ravonna Renslayer started to fill the glasses and on and on it went. She really wanted that celebration. So at some point she started to dance around with her pruning stick, sang to it like it was a microphone. She climbed on a table and shouted: "The TVA, you guys..yeah, I mean youuu..you're my heroes! And Mobius..Mobius, you're the best..est collegue and I love your mustache..and LONG LIVE THE SACRED TIMELINE!!"
Mobius laughed so hard now he almost couldn't finish his story. Even Sylvie laughed. Not as hard as Mobius, though.
"And with that she jumped from the table, the pruning stick in her hand - which she had accidentally turned on during her performance - and if X- 5 hadn't catched her she would have pruned herself in the process."
Mobius had to hold his stomach, his whole body was shaking with laugh.
"Than she tried to kiss X- 5 and throwed up into the trash can beside her desk."
They both laughed now, together.
Mobius raised his glass: "To Ravonna Renslayer, whereever you are, I'll never forget the look on your face the next day. Thinking of it now is like therapy."
Sylvie raised her glass, too.
"Where did you sent her, by the way? I hope to some ugly place where toilet paper and apple pies weren't even a thing. Perhaps to the vikings? That would make the hell of a story."
Sylvie slowly stopped laughing.
"To the void where she could keep Alioth company."
She smirked at that. They both went silent for a moment, everyone with their own thoughts.
This time it was Sylvie who broke the silence.
"I kissed him.."
Mobius looked at her, kind of irritated of her sudden confession.
"Who? Chad? Lucky guy, I suppose you would..."
But Sylvie interrupted him, before he could finish his sentence.
"Loki"
Mobius choked on his wine and coughed. Sylvie rolled her eyes and slapped his back.
When he calmed down again, the blonde woman looked to her feet, drawing small circles on the ground.
"We never talked about it."
Mobius nodded, "Was this at the end of time before you kicked him through the time door?"
Sylvie slowly nodded and Mobius smirked.
"I knew something had happened. He was so cryptic about that when he returned, told something about a draw..but it made no sense. If it was a draw, how.."
"Mobius"
He stopped babbling and looked at her intensely.
"How come you never spoke about it?"
Sylvie rolled her eyes with frustration.
"Everything was so crazy from the moment you came here again. Timely, Renslayer, the TVA, the temporal loom, the collapsing timelines.."
"You didn't want us there, did you?"
Sylvie looked at him like he stated something so obvious it was an insult.
"No, Mobius, I didn't want you here. I started building a new life. After running from the TVA all my life, camping under crashing stars and apocalypses, meeting you guys, meeting Loki.."
She paused for a moment, suddenly deep in thought.
"After meeting the charming fucker who built the TVA while eating an apple and grinning to my face and after I killed him and freeing the timelines...it was my fuckin turn to have some sort of normal life!"
Mobius laid a hand on her shoulder. There was silence for a moment.
"I'm sorry."
He was honest about it, his voice understanding.
"You know, there are moments I wish you hadn't shown up here in Oklahoma. Moments, I wished I stood there, serving a customer, chatting with my collegue about his cat doing stupid stuff and then let it all go. Let it all die in peace, let me die in peace.."
She sighed deep.
"..even if it meant being spaghettified."
The thought made her laugh, but it was a bitter one.
Mobius gently stroked her shoulder, massaged it a bit. Her muscles were so tense.
"I didn't want you here but once you were, it couldn't be undone. I wanted to stay here, wanted to ignore it all, let it all go to hell...but I couldn't."
She took some deep breaths.
"Couldn't kill timely, couldn't refuse your seek for help, couldn't stay away...and in all that chaos, there was no time or place to..."
She paused, in search for the right words.
"..discuss romantic issues."
Mobius didn't answer, because he sensed she wasn't done.
"We worked together, we fought together..I mean, I fought for the fuckin TVA! And suddenly he shot us out and decided to go all Jesus and fulfill his.."
There was a pause again. Sylvie looked at the sky, whether seeking something or fighting down tears, Mobius couldn't tell. Maybe a bit of both.
"..glorious purpose."
Sylvie woke again on the ground, surrounded by the green lights. They were calm again, dancing around her and she slowly stood.
She looked around. It was the same place, she was there, at the end of time or something like that, the mighty Ygdrassil in front of her.
She looked to the center again.
His eyes were open.
They weren't excactly the way she remembered them..or maybe they were..behind the white, clouded eyes looking at her now.
It was like he was dreaming and awake at the same time.
She slowly walked further..she couldn't get too close..he was entwined thick and tight with branches and the nearer she came, the thicker the branches grew.
He was a bit higher than her, lifted off the ground and into the branches and the tree like they embraced him.
After a while and after the first shock, Sylvie found her voice.
"Don't get the idea I'll kneel for you, your majesty."
Her tone was sharp but she couldn't completely hide the anger and pain in her voice..and her nervousness.
Nothing.
Just the white, dreamy eyes, looking at her..or so she thought. She couldn't tell for sure, but it felt like he looked at her.
Sylvie couldn't just stand there, she was overwhelmed. Shock mixed with pain, grief, nervousness and..excitement.
"You build yourself quite a home."
She walked around, eyes wandering and wondering..it was all so surreal.
"A bit too much green for me..yeah, it's our colour..but, too much is too much, Loki."
She strolled around, always keeping an eye on him.
Was he even in there?
Was he dead?
Why was she here?
"I could recommend some interior architect. He'll turn this place inside out in no time. You'd be surprised."
Silence.
Only the branches made quite noises, wreching a little, sparkling with sound.
It was hard to describe. She had never seen a place like this. Or even dreamed of it.
But this was a dream, wasn't it?
"Are you in there, your majesty?"
She playfully held her hands to her mouth like a funnel.
"Earth calling Laufeyson, do you hear me?"
Nothing.
Sylvie started to get frustrated and tried to get nearer, get to him. She stumbled over a branch that reacted by turning dark. She inhaled deeply and feared for a moment she broke it, but it just needed a moment to adjust and enlightened again.
She let out a sigh of relief but didn't try to go further again.
"Loki, why am I here? I don't even know if you're in there.. Are you dead?"
She wanted him to react in some way so desperately..to get some sign, anything..but it didn't happen.
She turned her back on the tree and pinched her arm, trying to wake up.
She shouted into the sky, "I want to wake up, please. I don't like this dream. It get's odd."
She started to walk away.
"Sylvie"
Her heart skipped a beat and she froze in place. For a long moment she thought it was a mirage, her mind playing tricks on her.
She was afraid to turn around, but she did and then she saw it.
The branches started dividing, moving aside, making room for something. It took a while because there were thousands and thousands of them but now she saw him, sitting on his throne.
And the branches were slowly carrying him down.
Sylvie hold her hand in front of her mouth in shock..it was a surreal scene from another world.
And she had seen a lot of worlds.
This was outstanding.
Creepy but also beautiful, chaos but also peaceful.
And for the first time since he had locked them out at the temporal loom, she saw his eyes.
She saw his eyes and her tears came.
There was no feeling to describe it.
"Sylvie"
