Akira softly woke up groaning before he hears a voice, "You okay Akira?"
Wincing he slowly opened his eyes. "Sir? What..."
Suddenly he froze as they both heard someone laughing.
"That again..." Akira looked to see Emperor was there with a frown... with a red handprint on his face.
"Sota, what happened to you?" Akira asked seeing that with wide eyes.
Emperor gave a sad smile with closed eyes, "Mother told me, that is what I get for failing... Father also demoted me down so I'm no longer your boss, and no longer what's called Emperor..." He turned to him saying, "Now the title's Prince."
Akira looked horrified hearing that.
"But now's not the time for that Akira." Emperor or now Prince said to him before saying, "Father, and Mother wants to know what's happening around here. The screens, and freezing, and glitching. It's like someone is hacking Link VRAINS, and overriding it."
Akira snapped to attention as he quickly got up. "Risa, what do we know about the current situation?"
Risa turned to him saying, "We don't know for certain. But it's something from inside Like VRAINS."
They all walked in the room where Emma was waiting, and sees the handprint on Prince's face. Her eyes widened before she hugged him. "Sota, who did this to you?"
Akira frowned. "It was Queen."
"What, his own mother?" Emma asked in shock. "I knew they were heartless but this? Why?"
"Emma it's okay. Don't worry about it." Prince assures with a smile to get her to stop worrying.
She frowned but nodded before hugging him.
"Risa, did you find any clues?" Prince asked Risa.
"No, whatever's going on is entirely within..." she started.
"So this is SOL Technologies, I have to thank you for being so incompetent." a male voice stated suddenly.
Hearing that they turned over to the big screen that went blank as Prince asked looking seriously, "Who's there? Show yourself!"
"Very well." the voice stated as the screen suddenly showed the Tower of Hanoi and standing on top of it was a blonde man in a purple suit. "Is this to your liking Emperor? Oh, my apologies you were demoted to Prince weren't you?"
"And you are?" Prince asked staring at him seriously.
"That would be the wrong question." the man stated. "I was nearly the ruler of the Synchro Dimension, Jean Michel Roget." the man smirked. "Or rather, what's left after I died."
"Died?" Emma asked hearing that.
"That's correct, you see several years ago I had a rather... unpleasant encounter with the Lancers. I trust you know who they are." Roget stated. "I won't bore you with the details but suffice it to say I attempted to trap a group of them in the void between dimensions... however instead that was my fate. I was killed in my attempt to kill them."
He closed his eyes at that.
"However, it would seem fate was on my side as my brain was integrated directly into the prototype for Link Vrains itself. A program that took decades to complete and I was able to survive by staying hidden within it."
"Huh? How exactly was his conscious into Link VRAINS? The Dimensional War was before Link VRAINS became a thing." Risa voiced confused by what she's hearing.
"How long do you think creating something as sophisticated as Link Vrains would take?" Roget inquired. "It isn't something you can build overnight. But whether or not you understand that is irrelevant. As I said I have to thank you all for your incompetence."
"Father, and Mother aren't gonna let you take over their lives work for whatever you want." Prince glared at him, "Mark my words, that you will be stopped again."
"Oh, just like you stopped the Knights of Hanoi?" Roget smirked. "Your parents should just sit back and watch. All of the data that was absorbed by this tower is going to aid me in killing the Lancers and their allies."
Prince looked down clenching his fists before feeling a hand on his shoulder turning where he said, "Kenneth, Misaki!"
They looked seeing the two were behind them as Misaki grinned to Prince, "Sorry we're late honey."
Walking in front of them Kenneth glared at Roget, "Why not a Bounty Hunter who will erase a program like yourself?"
"By all means, log in and erase me then." Roget offered. "I'm well aware of your reputation."
"You wouldn't be so cocky, once we square off." Kenneth said plainly.
Roget only smirked as Kenneth moved to log in only for his Duel Disk to register an error.
"What?" Kenneth asked trying to log in again.
"Kenny what's going on?" Misaki asked seeing he's looking frustrated.
"I can't log in." Kenneth growled before glaring at Roget, "What did you do?"
"Let me make it clear to you, the only ones able to enter Link Vrains are the Lancers and their allies. Everyone else is unable to enter, so you can simply watch as I end their lives one by one." Roget told them.
"So only the Lancers can access directly to stop him." Prince said hearing that, "Fine Roget we will inform them. But they gotten stronger so you won't beat them that easily."
Roget only frowned as the screen turned off. Kenneth sighed annoyed as they turned to them only for he, and Misaki to notice the handprint.
"What the? Sota who did that?" Kenneth questioned.
"Punishment for failure courtesy of mother." Prince answered placing a hand on his mark while looking at it.
Misaki frowned before hugging him. "You didn't fail anyone."
"THEY didn't think so." Prince said referring to the Inner Circle, "Though judging from how me, Akira, and Emma are back, it's safe to say that Varis, and Rosaly were both defeated."
"Probably by Playmaker and Nyx." Emma nodded.
"Wait, maybe that's what he meant... we couldn't keep the Knights of Hanoi from taking over Link Vrains." Akira frowned.
"I was the last to defend against them... I found Varis, and I fought with all I got... But Varis defeated me in the end." Prince looked down, "I had all of SOL's hopes, and respect, and failed them from losing to Varis."
"You didn't fail anyone Sota." Emma whispered.
"Risa?" Akira asked calmly. "Prepare a message, and send it to the Leo Corporation in Paradise City."
"Yes sir!" Risa saluted which was dramatic before running off nearly bumping into Bishop as she apologized, "Sorry sir!"
She ran off as Bishop walked seeing them, "Shepherd, White Tiger... you both certainly took your time."
"We're here now." Misaki mentioned. "Unfortunately we won't be much help now."
"I beg to differ. We have a new situation after the Knights of Hanoi we're defeated. King would come himself but he's busy regarding business so he has me tell you two in his place to get to work." Bishop said to them simply adjusting his glasses.
"We can't." Kenneth told him simply while glaring.
"And do explain why? King doesn't want any excuses regarding that you two were late, and chose now when the Knights of Hanoi we're defeated to arrive." Bishop said giving a warning stare.
Kenneth frowned before trying to log in only for the error to occur.
"None of us can enter Link Vrains right now." Misaki told him.
"A simple error function won't stop us. I expect for you all, and our top workers to break this error, and find whoever is doing this, and fix it before it gets worse." Bishop warned before walking off to report to King before stopping, and turned to Prince, "And Prince, don't try anything else. Your parents were merciful by only demoting you of your position, but they won't be so hospitable next time. Just remember that the Knights succeeded against us in the war falls squarely on your shoulders."
With that said he exited the room leaving the five alone. A few moments later Risa walked back in. "The message was sent."
She sees Prince was looking down.
"Prince sir?" she asked. "Is everything alright?"
"No need to worry about it Risa. Just tell us if the Lancers has it under control." Prince directed.
"Yes sir." she nodded.
Meanwhile...
"Madame Chairwoman, there's something you need to see." a man in a suit mentioned walking into her office with a data pad.
Heneritta looked before checking on the Data Pad. It was a message from SOL Technologies requesting help and explaining what had happened. Narrowing her eyes Henrietta informed the man, "Get Declan on the phone."
"Yes." the man nodded walking out of the room.
Later...
Hanging up from the phone Declan walked to the group sitting in Ryoken's living room with the Knights of Hanoi he informed, "SOLs found out what it was."
"Then what's going on?" Jack asked him.
"Roget." Declan answered with one word.
Yuya's eyes widened in horror. "What... but how, he's gone. Isn't he?"
"Apparently not." Crow mentioned.
"He said himself that his brain was in the prototype of Link VRAINS." Declan answered, "He's not allowing anyone that isn't a Lancer, or their allies into Link VRAINS to fight him."
"Wait, but what about us?" Lilly asked hearing that.
"She's right, you two should be allies of the Lancers, being the children of one of them." Sachiko mentioned as Yusaku tried to log in only for the same error Kenneth got to appear instead.
"Could be only the ones that were involved in the war." Yusaku suggested.
"Guess this means, Playmaker and Ai can't swoop in now." Ai said sighing.
"I could use a break though." the female Ignis admitted.
"You deserve it." Zuzu told them. "I don't know how long this whole thing with Roget could take, but leave it to us."
"That's true, even if it's only for a short time... after everything you two have been through some rest will be good." Celina agreed.
"What about them?" Cal asked gesturing to all the Knights of Hanoi for what they think to do with them.
"Our plan on the Tower of Hanoi failed, and right now we can't access the VRAINS so we don't got anything to do to stop the Ignis." Ryoken said crossing his arms, "So we're bound by what's gonna happen next."
"Are you two going to be ok?" Rin asked him and Sachiko. "Hanoi or not, losing your father... I'm sorry."
"...We want to make sure his wish of destroying the Ignis comes true." Sachiko said closing his eyes before she feels her hand before taken turning to see Specter is holding it. She smiled before saying, "Thanks. I needed that."
"... Do you still have his... simulations?" the female Ignis asked uncertainly.
"We kept them to remind ourselves why we're fighting." Aso answered.
"I... I'd like to see them for myself." the female Ignis requested.
"So would I, she saved my life and Skye's life before and... I can't understand why she wouldn't be able to coexist with humans." Lilly added.
"You think we're just gonna give you them?" Genome asked with a glare.
"Just do it." Ryoken ordered before saying, "We placed in anti-Ignis firewalls to prevent them from altering it to save their own skins."
Clarissa stared before nodding, "It's probably what Dr. Kogami would've wanted for the chance for them to see why his creations can't survive."
"I just meant looking at them, not taking them from you." the female Ignis clarified.
"We know what you meant." Aso glared.
Standing up Ryoken said, "Follow me."
Lilly nodded following him. Arriving in a room he opened the door where she sees a metal stand before he pressed a button that started it up. Lilly took a nervous breath as the female Ignis emerged from her Duel Disk to look at the simulations. They started to see what seems like Ignis, and Humans being with each other peacefully at first but later they view the history of humanity, and their cold hearted nature that's been carried out to the new era, and resulted in them declaring war where in the end the Ignis surpassed humanity. Lilly's eyes widened in horror seeing that.
"That... I don't understand." the female Ignis whispered. "This... but why? It doesn't make any sense."
"We examined this throughout. We haven't figured out several things as it's admist but we're looking into it." Ryoken said to them.
"What would you do... if the reason could be prevented without killing them?" Lilly asked him. "If there was a way for us to live in harmony?"
"We would stop, as father believed there is a chance for them to co-exist." Ryoken answered, "No matter what happens his views comes first rather then my own."
"Ryoken... if there is no other option, do what you have to." the female Ignis said quietly.
"I'm planning to do that WATER Ignis." Ryoken told her.
Lilly looked down. "Ryoken? I know it's ten years late but... thank you for helping my brother."
Ryoken only stared before nodding with closed eyes. With that the three of them went back to the others. It was when Lilly looks at Ryoken's eyes as they walked out did she felt something in her heart.
"So, it was all a lie right?" Ai asked when they got back. "The data was faked, or it was talking about something else?"
The female Ignis looked down sadly. "It was all true Ai, we can't coexist with humanity... it just leads to us surpassing and... destroying them all."
"Did they say what the cause was at least?" Yuya asked hopefully.
"We haven't figured that out yet." Sachiko mentioned. "All we know is that it has to do with the history of humanity, and our cold hearted nature. We don't know what the breaking point will be though."
"Ai don't get it." Ai admitted regarding humanity, and Ignis destroying each other in the near future.
"Right now, it doesn't matter as we can't fight them." Ryoken said before saying, "For now you Lancers must put a stop to Roget before he does anything else."
"That's true." Declan nodded.
"Lilly, are you ok?" Celina asked walking over to her daughter.
Yusaku looked to his sister to see she has a small blush on her face which made him ask, "Lilly? Why are you red?"
Celina looked confused but nodded as Lilly gave her Duel Disk to Yusaku upon the female Ignis' request for them to be alone. Mother, and Daughter walked together in a separate room as she asked, "What's up Lilly?"
Lilly was blushing slightly. "How did... you and dad fall in love? You told me and Yusaku that you were on opposite sides of the Dimensional War after all and... he hurt a lot of your friends."
Celina at that admitted, "Well... when we were younger when Leo Akaba introduced us to each other, I had this feeling of destiny to him. Like I wanted to protect him. When the war was over, and he was alone, it grew, and eventually me, and him decided to be together forever."
Lilly just nodded. "Ok."
"Why do you ask?" then putting on a teasing grin Celina asked, "Does my little girl have a knight she wants to capture his heart?"
Lilly's eyes widened at that before she blushed. "That... I don't know. I mean..."
She looked down uncertainly.
"I feel... thankful, angry, sorry, just confused."
"Who is it?" Celina asked still having her grin wrapping her arm around her daughter.
"... Ryoken." Lilly whispered.
Celina blinked hearing that.
"He and Sachiko were the ones to save Yusaku all those years ago, if they didn't call... who knows what might have happened. But, everything they did... the Hanoi did, they stole ten years from us and hurt people I care about." Lilly explained. "Then with what we saw... what happened to their father and why they went so far... I don't know what to think."
Celina stared before patting her back, "You, and I are in the same boat. Despite the differences your father, and Ryoken both went through a lot of events, and hurt people but in the end their good people. All that's left is give him a chance, and see if he shares his feelings back."
Lilly blushed more. "Well... I guess if there was ever going to be a chance to try it's now since... we can't log in?"
Celina hearing that nodded. With that the two of them walked back to the others as Yuri met Celina's eyes.
"Is everything alright?" he inquired.
"Lilly just wanted to talk to me." Celina answered while her eyes told Yuri, they'll talk privately.
"Since we got nothing left to do, we can be just modern citizens." Genome replied.
"I gotta get back to the hospital with my sister." Clarissa added.
"Should probably get some other work done." Aso said.
"I'll be doing some long overdue time with Sachiko of course." Specter said before turning to said girl, "That is, if she will allow me."
She smiled. "I'd like that."
"For us, me, and Lilly should probably try to figure that out ourselves." Yusaku admitted shrugging.
"Me, and Ai will stay together until this blows over." the female Ignis said which Ai nod in agreement.
Hearing a notification going off Yusaku looked at his Duel Disk before saying, "Skye wants me, and Lilly to meet with her. Her, her brother, and some others."
Lilly's eyes widened. "That's right, Skye should be ok now."
"You should probably get going." Celina suggested to them, "After all this let us, and the others handle Roget."
"Got it mom." Yusaku nodded before telling Lilly, "Let's see Skye, Lilly."
She nodded as they left.
The Knights of Hanoi nodded to the Lancers before heading off taking the bed holding Dr. Kogami's body for him to be buried. With that said the Lancers start to talk about plans against Roget.
Meanwhile...
"It's nice we finally meet in person Skye."
That was the voice was Prince in the Zaizen Household with Kenneth, Misaki, Risa, Emma, and even Gore with him while Akira, and Skye are in front of him while Prince gave a short bow before raising up, "We met before at the Data Banks at SOL Technologies."
"Then... you must be Emperor." she realized before frowning. "Are you ok?"
"Formerly Emperor. Now it's just Prince following my loss against Varis." Prince answered before saying, "And don't worry about it. Got into a accident when I was younger, and the price for failure recently."
Skye frowned. "So you lost and you get slapped? What are Playmaker and Nyx going to become gods of Link Vrains for winning then?"
"Doubt mother, and father would do that. They would pin Bounty Hunters on them if nothing else." Prince shrugged before saying, "By the way, the real names Sota Tarumaki, and please call me that whenever we meet. I much rather not be called by my title."
He then introduced, "And these two are Kenneth Drayden, and his wife Misaki. We have been friends when I was real young alongside Emma, and Akira."
"It's nice to meet you. Your brother told us a bit about you." Misaki smiled waving while Kenneth gave a small nod with crossed arms.
"It's nice to meet you too." Skye mentioned.
A few minutes later someone knocked on the door.
A pink robot butler went, and opened the door where it shows Lilly, and Yusaku as the robot butler said, "Welcome to the Zaizen Residence visitors. What can we do for you?"
"Let them in, we invited them over." Akira said walking over as the robot nodded wheeling off before Akira said to the two, "Please come on in. Skye, and the others are waiting inside."
Yusaku nodded as they walked in. "Thanks."
They arrive seeing everyone as Prince smiled standing up, "Glad to meet you in person finally Yusaku, Lilly."
"Who are you?" Lilly asked confused.
"Sota Tarumaki, but in SOL Technologies I go by Prince. And formerly Emperor." Prince answered with a small smile.
"Formerly?" Lilly asked. "You got a promotion? Isn't Emperor usually above Prince though?"
"Demoted actually." Prince admitted as they noticed the hand print.
"For losing a duel against Varis most likely." Yusaku frowned. "The CEO's son got demoted, he certainly seems like a loving and caring father."
Everyone could hear the sarcasm as he said that.
"Nice not being serious now is it?" Ai asked him.
"Be quiet." Yusaku said simply.
"Is that one of the Ignis?" Kenneth asked with hatred in his voice.
"Kenny calm down." Misaki said concerned before saying to the two teens, and the Ignis, "Sorry, it's not you four he just has a bad thing for AIs."
"What do you mean?" Lilly asked only to pause. "If you don't mind me asking."
"It's personal so we will talk about it another time." Misaki answered before saying, "It does relate to Sota's own accident." She then smiled saying, "By the way, the name is Misaki Drayden or known in Link VRAINS as White Tiger. This is my husband Kenneth, or known on Link VRAINS as the Shepherd."
Kenneth gave a small nod of acknowledgment to them.
"Wait, the Shepherd? You mean the Bounty Hunter the Shepherd?" Lilly asked in disbelief and with a hint of fear.
"The very same." Kenneth confirmed before turning away with closed eyes, "Don't worry, your not a target of mine yet."
"Kenny don't make that sound scary to her." Misaki frowned which he only grunted which she sighed, "Oh you..."
"Guys if I may interrupt we should probably start this discussion." Prince cut off getting back to the matter at hand.
"Right, sorry it's just... Skye and Gore told me about the Shepherd when I first became a Charisma Duelist." Lilly admitted shuddering slightly.
"What's going on?" Yusaku inquired to Prince.
Sitting down Prince said to them, "We figured out what was going on in Link VRAINS, and I'm pretty sure Risa here must've notified Leo Corp about it." He gestured to Risa who smiled waving before he said, "SOL so far doesn't know we asked for Leo's help but in fact ordered us to break through Roget's programming. We're not gonna do that since people like Roget is more of the Lancer's thing rather then ours. But the point is that now that SOL's security is down from Roget's pickup I figured it be a good time for us to speak to ourselves. Like a urgent meeting between us while SOL's awareness is down."
"That makes sense." Lilly nodded.
"Which means you, and your brother are free to go by your Link VRAINS identities." Prince added before smiling, "Gore, Misaki, Kenneth, and Risa all agreed to keep your true identities under tight lips."
Lilly and Yusaku both nodded at that.
"I never expected for Playmaker to be a kid." Gore said seeing Yusaku.
"Neither do I, I was under the impression he was a older." Misaki admitted.
"Well that's what he wanted you to think so that SOL won't find him." Prince explained before smiling to Akira, "But Akira managed to figure it out."
"I had information most people wouldn't have access to." Akira admitted.
"Well we're all here to discuss something important once the whole situation with Roget blows over." Prince said to them.
"What do you mean?" Lilly asked him.
"Father." He answered.
Kenneth snorted, "I knew that was it."
"Something you want to say Kenneth?" Prince asked hearing that.
"King was a promising employer, had been for years... but I always knew he was trouble." Kenneth answered before saying, "Something is wrong about him, I don't know what but I intend to find out."
"So that's why we're all here, to figure out what to do about him?" Yusaku inquired calmly.
"Figure out his ideas for the future... cause I feel that he will use Link VRAINS to take over the world." Prince answered.
"Take over..." Lilly whispered in shock before her eyes widened. "Wait, could it involve the Ignis?"
"Possibly. Father had been ordering us to capture them, and use them for our own purposes. I figured out what he plans to do." Prince answered before revealing, "He plans to have them dissected to create high performing Ignises."
"Dissected?" the female Ignis asked in horror. "That's murder!"
"He believes that since the Ignis were created by SOL they should be used, and modified however they wanted." Prince informed.
"That unfortunately sounds like him." Emma frowned.
"I take no joy in asking or ordering you guys but from the Hanoi's attack, and the Tower of Hanoi, I figured father would get his plans ahead of schedule, and running out of time to figure it out." Prince told them.
"Well, we have time for now. Our parents and the others are dealing with Roget but there's no way of knowing what he has planned." Yusaku pointed out.
Prince nodded before sayin, "Once Roget is done we will start our plan. Here's what I want you all to do..."
He starts to explain to everyone what to do.
Meanwhile...
The Circle was all gathered in their room discussing things.
"This is insane, nothing is getting past that error." Rook frowned.
"All our experts are hard at work but nothing is coming up." Bishop said to them.
"I still think it be better if Prince looks this over." Lancelot voiced his opinion before glaring, "Right before the high, and mighty bitch slapped him for his failure." He was voicing this to Queen as if blaming her for this.
"I'm in complete agreement." Alexander agreed glaring at Queen. "He's your son and I doubt you'd have done much better against Varis."
"Nobody asked you how to discipline him for failing!" Queen snapped.
King raised his hand which made them stopped before saying, "What Queen done is questionable, and she shouldn't have hit him but he knew that being demoted is what would result in if he failed. There is a price to pay for failing, and everything we gain."
"Fine, demote the boy and let him work to get back his former title but this? What happens if he decides to go to the Leo Corporation? They've already given Playmaker that dragon... if he reveals everything..." Bishop started nervously.
"Unfortunately we don't have time to look into it. Right now, dealing with this error, and Roget comes first." King answered, "We will handle things with Prince another time right now everything we're working for is under the risk of being erased."
"Maybe not, according to the records he was defeated rather easily by the Lancers, and if we were to... reboot Link Vrains the moment he's destroyed we could rid ourselves of them without any effort." Lancelot pointed out. "A tragic system error."
"Death by being rebooted." Alexander said hearing that with a smirk, "Truly a tragic tale."
"Sound tempting but we can't really take the chance." Bishop answered before saying, "Leo Corp will likely find it suspicious, and press charges if we try."
"Don't try to change the subject!" Queen snapped.
"Maria." his wife froze when she heard him say her real name as a way of getting her to stop, "The accidental death is tempting but like Bishop said, Leo Corp would find it suspicious if we use it the moment Roget is defeated. So far everything here is due to Bishop's guidance where if not for him we wouldn't be here now. He knows his way around the law, computer works, and leadership, and couldn't be more proud to have him here as SOL's top Secretary, and the one in charge if me, and Queen aren't around." He nodded to Bishop, "So thank you for your part Bishop."
"I'm honored sir." Bishop nodded.
"Now back to the matter, as he stated before Leo Corp would find the accident death suspicious unless we make it convincing." King said to them, "The Leo Corp despite being outdated, are formidable rivals so it would take great effort for it to work."
"Does that mean you have something in mind?" Rook inquired.
"Not at the moment." King said before standing up, and said, "Knight Brothers."
"Sir!" they said together.
"For now until we get this settled out you two will observe what will be going on, and inform us if anything happens." King instructed.
The two of them nodded before walking off.
"Rook." King turned to his next associate.
Rook turned to him. "Sir?"
"How soon are we able to finish modifying Kitamura's Pawn Drones with the SOLTis Androids?" King asked him.
"It should be just a few days." he answered.
"Well from the hiccup from the Hanoi, and now Roget we need to go forward with our plans earlier then usual." King instructed before saying, "As soon as Roget is stopped, I want you to get to work on making the Pawn Drones, and their SOLTis Android Bodies ready to better enforce our rule here in Den City."
"Of course sir, I'll make sure it's done." Rook nodded calmly.
"Bishop." King turned to his secretary who stood in attention, "Keep doing what you usually do, inform me if anything urgent pops up."
"I will, though there is one other thing that's been bothering me." Bishop admitted. "Where are Prince, Zaizen, and those bounty hunters we hired to help deal with the Hanoi?"
"I suspect their doing something under our noses." Queen growled.
"That's a possibility, but since our security system on Prince is down from Roget we can't take a look at him at the moment." King informed, "Another thought might be he is getting some time off with them since they can't do anything from this error right now."
"What would you, and Queen do sir?" Rook asked him.
King answered, "I'll be doing some secret business as usual." She just nodded with a frown.

bopdog111: Roget is back for revenge, Emperor or Prince is discussing with some forms of the VRAINS Cast about SOL, and SOL Tech are making plans for their future once the situation with Roget is over.
Ulrich362: Exactly. Oh and just to be clear while only Arc-V characters will duel in this arc the Vrains cast will have their own rolls to play, and any deck suggestions are more than welcome.
