Happy glanced at his Girly as he poured their morning coffee. They had got back late the night before and despite her promises that they'd be okay he was starting to think she'd been chatting bullshit. She was distant. Not something he'd ever have called her before.
She'd taken one look at the half dead flowers he'd left on their table, snorted and headed straight for the bathroom. She'd firmly closed the door behind her and when she climbed into bed next to him she hadn't taken her usual place lying on his chest, instead she'd turned her back on him. Happy hated the fact it had hurt. Hated it. And more than that it had fucking burnt knowing she'd cried next to him but had refused his comfort, he laid there, the bed shaking as she sobbed, waiting for her to turn to him, she hadn't though. He hesitated, too long maybe, before he turned and rested a hand on her waist. She'd let it hang there but hadn't tried to get any closer, hadn't scooted back into him as he was sure she would.
He wasn't an idiot, he knew he'd fucked up, and he'd known he would pay for it. But he hadn't realised just how much it would fucking sting. He wished he'd spoke to his ma sooner.
"What do you think? Is it enough?" Bella's soft words drew him out of his thoughts, her voice huskier than usual due to her crying. He turned to look at her fully. Apparently she'd woken with the dawn and had been cooking enough for the whole club, their assorted families and any hang abouts. Smelt damn good though.
"If you're trying to feed all of Charming, yay," Happy snorted as he passed her the coffee he'd made.
"Damn, guess I can take some to the clubhouse and we can have leftovers for a couple of nights," she looked crestfallen at his words and he wanted to take them back. No, what he was to be back on firm ground with his Girly, to not have to walk on damn eggshells around her in case he made shit worse.
Happy sighed and ran a hand across his head, he'd felt better on the road, but now they were back so was the weight of the world on his shoulders. "What's it all for?"
"Oh, I thought your mom might like home cooked meals instead of that crap they serve at the hospital," his Spitfire said, her lip going between her teeth and a shy look she'd not worn in a long time crossing her face. His chest tugged hard.
Happy walked over to his woman and pulled her against him, his hands wrapping around her small waist, spreading along her warm back. He gazed down at her, that feeling ever present, that one he'd only ever felt with her and only ever wanted to feel with her. He was going to tell her just how fucking amazing she was, he was gonna say that all he wanted to do right then was lay her down and fuck her till she couldn't think, till he'd made her come so many times she was mush, he was going to tell her she made him fucking crazy and he was one lucky bastard. That wasn't what came out though. What came out was not planned. Not thought through at all, though something he had almost been obsessing about since that first kiss.
"You gonna be my Ol' lady?"
Bella's deep chocolate eyes grew round, her lips parted and she sucked in a huge lungful of air.
He hadn't meant to say that shit. He'd been thinking of ways to do it, to ask her. Probably wouldn't have ended up much differently, still though, he thought he would have done it better than over some coffee and enough food to last them nearly a year that she'd been up half the night cooking.
She hadn't breathed out yet, she seemed to be in shock. He felt a thrill of ice traveling up his spine, had he just fucked things up even further?
"Spitfire?"
"You want me to be your Old Lady?" Her voice was less than the breath she had taken in.
Happy nodded, his mind flicking back to his sketchpad and his kutte that was hanging by the door right next to her prospect rocker. Maybe he should have had one of those on him when he asked. Fuck, he was bad at this shit, this… romance side of shit. Even the word felt bad in his head, he was shit at this and he knew it. Maybe he should have gotten some pointers from someone, Clay maybe, he was solid with Gemma.
"Really?" His Spitfire whispered, her eyes filling slightly with tears he was faintly terrified would fall. Tears weren't good, even he knew that.
He nodded again, his throat had a huge lump in it that he couldn't speak past and he was worried as anything that he was gonna screw things even further by opening his mouth.
One of those tears that had been filling her big brown doe eyes spilled before he had his hands full of her again and her silky chestnut hair was obscuring his vision and almost choking him as her legs wrapped around his waist.
"Yes! Yes! I want to be your Old Lady!" Happy almost staggered in relief as his Girly gasped those words before her lips were attacking his.
His heart was racing as a smile he couldn't help spread across his lips even as he opened his mouth to devour his Ol' Lady. His hands grabbed at her ass, pulling her closer and grinding his suddenly painfully hard cock into the fabric of her sleep shorts. Fuck, she was his. She was gonna wear his ink, forever. He thrust against her again, gathering her cries with his mouth and tongue. She was gonna wear his ring. One hand left her ass and moved to grab a fantastic tit. Squeezing the way he knew she liked it through the thin material of her tank top, his thumb gently rolling the nipple. Fuck, she was going to take his last name. Her feet started pushing down his jeans which he was damn glad that he'd yet to add his belt to. Girly was gonna be Isabella Marie Lowman. Fuck, he moved them and sat her down on the only space of counter still left, hands instantly pulling down her shorts and panties. She was gonna be his forever, marked as his, take his name, wear his ring. His Spitfire, His Girly, His Spitfire.
He thrust into her as she panted and moaned.
Happy would take ink for her too.
Her feet dug into her ass, urging him faster with her words along with her body.
He'd wear a ring for her.
"Please, please, oh god, please Hap!"
He'd be marked as hers.
He felt her fluttering around his cock and fuck she was his, she was gonna be his. He needed to mark her, for the whole fucking world to see who she belonged to. "Happy!" He wanted everyone to know who he belonged to.
"Bella. Fucking mine, Bella!" He growled into her ear as his balls tightened and he shot his load into her, his breath heaving, sweat gathering despite how quick the fuck had been.
When he could move he pulled back to look his Girly, his Ol' Lady in the face. Bella was beaming from ear to ear, her cheeks flushed with pleasure, her brown eyes glistening, her hair disheveled and a hickey on her neck that he couldn't remember putting there. She was beautiful. She took his breath away.
He kissed her long, slow and deep, the smile still on his face. He couldn't remember ever feeling like this. Like his damn chest could burst open with it. Like he'd never stop smiling. Like everything was fucking perfect.
"Wait there," he instructed her as moved out from between her legs. Her small whine of displeasure as he slipped from her made him smile again. She was fucking adorable.
Happy pulled his boxers and his jeans back up before striding towards the door where his kutte hung, on the back back he grabbed his sketchpad where he'd left it in his saddlebag next to the couch.
He strode back towards his Girly, who was still sitting in a blissful mess on the counter.
He held out the box first, the one his ma had given him weeks ago. "If it doesn't fit we can take it and get it fixed," he said, his eyes on her face as she opened it. He knew his Girly, knew that she didn't care how much shit cost, or the size of a diamond, or any of that bullshit. In fact she'd hate it if he'd spent shit loads of cash on her. He hoped she liked it though. It was pretty plain, a gold band with a smallish diamond on the top but he thought she would appreciate the simplicity of it.
Her smile widened and those damn tears came back to her chocolate eyes.
"I love it babe, will you put it on for me?" She asked, her lip between her teeth and her hand held out towards him.
He smirked and took the tiny band carefully between his fingers before he slipped it on her, where it would stay for the rest of her life. It was a near perfect fit. Bella grinned up at him and admired the ring before leaning forward and kissing him again. He kissed her back before breaking away from her and kissing the knuckle above her ring finger where the ring declaring her as his resided. His.
"Drew this up for you, take a look," he flipped through the pages of his sketchbook until he came to the right one. He'd done more than a few draughts to get this. He thought it was perfect and he had space on his lower back to get a matching one. Which would mean a trip to Las Vegas. Maybe they could get hitched there and he could get his ink to mark the occasion. It was worth thinking on. "What d'ya think?"
Spitfire's eye lit up at the sketch. "I love it. When do I get it?"
Happy chuckled, always so fucking eager for him, he loved it. "Can get it now if ya want?" He had his tattoo equipment there at the house, it would only take a couple of hours and they were both off for the next three days unless there was an emergency. Which he hoped to hell there wasn't.
"I was going to take this to your mom?" She gestured at the mounds of food. "Do you want to do the tattoo first or after seeing her?" Bella asked, her eyes darting to the sketch before glancing around the kitchen. He thought. It would be better to do the tat on the breakfast bar, he could keep it sterile easy enough, keep his Spitfire's arm steady on it and it wouldn't hurt her keeping it still there for a while either. The breakfast bar though had piles of fucking packaged meals on it. Seriously, did she think that she was gonna be feeding his ma for a year?
"Go get ready, I'll pack up this," he gestured to the mounds of food, "Do it when we get back, yeah?"
Bella beamed and bit her lip before nodding once more. Again she leant forward and captured his mouth with her big pouty lips. "You want to shower with me first?" She ran her hands down his chest, her cheeks only slightly flushed at her own forwardness now. That damn feeling again.
Happy smirked and grabbed her ass, she felt so damn good in his hands and he loved how she was always ready for him in whatever way he needed. "Need more than five minutes to recover Girly, when we get back though I'll help ya get all dirty again, yeah?"
Half an hour later and they were on their way to visit his ma in his Girly's cage, half of the food in the back, the other half waiting to be taken to the clubhouse. Next to him the ring his woman had kept catching the sunlight and glistening, each time it made him grin. He could feel Bella's mind whirling next time to him but as she was smiling he wasn't going to bug her about it. She'd tell him when she was ready.
Happy couldn't wait for his ma to see the ring on Bella's finger. He knew she'd be happy. Then a stray thought caught him and he frowned. His ma would want to come to the wedding, obviously, along with his family and her friends who he'd called 'aunties' since he was a kid. Which was all well and good but how the hell was he going to be able to afford a wedding when he was going to more than struggle paying for the care home his ma was going to? Shit, how much did weddings even cost? They wouldn't have a huge one, he didn't want it and he was sure his Spitfire wouldn't want a big white wedding with everyone staring at her either. But, they'd have to invite half of the Son's of Anarchy, not just Sam Cro, then his ma and family, Quinn probably had people he'd want to see his daughter getting hitched. Fuck. Maybe they could wait a while before they said 'I do'? Maybe he could pick up extra shifts and get in on any running they had, which he'd already spoke to Clay about. Fuck.
"You okay babe?" His Spitfire's worried tone broke him out of his downward spiral.
"Good. You?"
"Always so eloquent," she snorted and smiled.
He rolled his eyes but smirked, "smartass".
"Seriously though, what's wrong?" She hesitated a moment, biting her lip, her doe eyes staring imploringly at him. "You're not regretting asking me are you?"
"Fuck no. Been wanting to ask you for a long while, Spitfire."
"Then what is it?" She asked again.
Happy let out a long sigh. He hadn't wanted her to worry about his shit. She had enough going on and it was his job to provide for them, make sure they had food on the table and money available to them. He knew though that if he didn't chat to her, didn't treat her like his equal, not only would she not stand for it, but she'd start doubting herself and him. He'd had enough of that shit. He'd fucked it up badly before and he wasn't stupid, he'd do whatever it took to make sure he didn't fuck it up again.
"Ma's home, gonna cost me. Gonna be stretched tight for a while. Don't know when we'll be able to get hitched."
Bella nodded and laid her hand on his knee as his fingers tightened around the steering wheel.
"Alright, well we can talk about what we want and everything and decide when it can happen. We can wait, I'll have your ink so there's that. I've got some savings-"
"Ain't taking your money."
"-and I already told you to stop paying rent, I can get all the groceries and stuff. And I can talk to Clay about picking up more-"
"Spitfire, I ain't taking your money-"
"-shifts. I can't really contribute much more until I'm through my prospect year but maybe I can get a part time job on my days off?"
"Bella!" He snapped at her. He didn't raise his voice to his Girly, ever. But he hated the thought of her paying his way. It was riling him the fuck up and she wasn't listening to him, not a whit.
"Happy!" She snapped right on back. And hell if that wasn't one of the reasons he didn't care so much about the bitch, no part of her was scared of him, she gave as good as she got. "I'm your Old Lady, I'm yours and we'll help each other, unless you want me shutting you out when I need you? We have each others backs. You've helped me with everything since we met. Vampires, werewolves, getting shot, teaching me to take care of myself, patching me up and holding me through nightmares. This thing, it's just money. That's all. It's nothing compared to what you've done for me. Nothing. So I AM going to help you."
He didn't know what to say on that. He still fucking hated the thought of taking shit from her, but. But. Shit if she wasn't right. She didn't give herself half enough credit, but at the end of the day, it was just money. Yeah, she might help him now, but he'd take every extra dollar he could get from then until the day he fucking died so he could take care of her and anything she wanted in the future. He could swallow his pride. For now. For her.
"You're fucking adorable, you know that?"

"Stop fuckin' smirking like that Girly, or I'm gonna spank your ass," Happy growled as they were on their way back from the hospital that his mom was staying in for two more days before she moved to the home. She couldn't seem to stop smiling though, despite his words that were kind of turning her on.
"Sorry babe," she uttered, not meaning it at all and judging by his sigh and shake of his head he knew it.
Happy's mom had been ecstatic to see the ring on her finger, his Aunt though, Louisa, had gone off on Happy so hard she thought his ears must still be ringing. Apparently his mom had filled in his Aunt on what had happened during his stint away. Louisa went on at Happy about how lucky he was that Bella was even talking to him let alone had agreed to marry him. His mom had ignored the angry diatribe and instead had talked to Bella about what she'd cooked and if she had any ideas for the wedding yet. Bella had really enjoyed the visit. Happy not so much. Even less so when Bella had promised they'd be back in a couple of days to visit at the home and help her get settled. She'd ignored the glare he'd sent her way and the laugh his mom had given at it all.
"We should call dad and Georgia," Bella announced as her ring once more shone in the bright midday sun.
"You got a mean streak a mile long ya know that right?" Happy grumbled but she could see the hidden amusement in the way his dark brown eyes shone.
She had told Happy they'd be okay. That everything between them would be okay and she'd meant it with everything in her. She loved him and was willing to forgive him, willing to let things go. But that didn't stop the pain at him basically pushing her to the wayside, even if she now understood his reasons. Back in Charming she had felt that same crushing feeling the night before as she had when he'd been gone. She wanted to not feel it. He was there. He'd been there when she needed him in Fork's he'd taken care of her as always. But it had been there and she didn't know how to just… let it go. Him asking her to be his Old Lady made most of that pain go away. It didn't hurt at all hearing his Aunt Louisa go off on him though. It made her feel even better though that he'd agreed to let her help how she could. He was letting her in. Letting her be there for him. That soothed her pain more than anything. He'd opened up to her. And she swore she'd fallen further in love with him. Something she still hadn't the guts to tell him.
"Yup, that's why you want me as your Old Lady," Bella witted with a grin before pulling out her phone. "Your mom knows, I want my parents to know before anyone else. Plus you know dad'd be furious if the rest of the club found out before him."
Happy sighed but didn't argue she guessed because he knew she was right. She didn't know how her dad was going to take the news but she knew without a doubt that it would be better if she told him than if he found out second hand.
Bella put the phone on speaker as it started ringing. Happy's posture tightened so he was ramrod straight, he was nervous she gathered but knew there was no way the stoic man would ever admit that.
"Bells? How ya doing kid, you okay?" Her dad answered and she could hear a small smile in his voice. He always seemed so genuinely happy to hear from her. It still boggled her mind.
"I'm good, you?"
"Yeah, same as, have a day or two downtime with Georgia, she's got a laundry list of shit she wants me to do though. Don't think she knows the meaning of downtime- ouch! Just kiddin' woman! Damn," her dad chuckled down the line.
"Hey dad, put me on speaker will you?" Bella asked, glad that they were both there, she could kill two birds with one stone this way. Happy's knee started bouncing ever so slightly.
She heard fumbling from her dad's end of the phone before he spoke again, "alright, you're on speaker. What's up?"
"Hey hon!"
Bell took a deep breath, a little nervous. She cared what her dad and her 'mom' thought, of course she did, but their opinion wouldn't change her decision, she just hoped she had their approval. She guessed Happy felt the same way judging by how tense he was.
"Hap's asked me to be his Old Lady," Bella blurted out.
"Oh hon! That's amazing! What's your ink look like? When did he do it? I'm so happy for you guys!"
Bella grinned widely and Happy's posture deflated a tiny bit. Even if her dad wasn't on board, Georgia would get him there.
"We're going to do the ink this afternoon. I've got a really pretty ring though. He asked me this morning before we went to see his mom."
"That's awesome Bells," her dad said with a lot less enthusiasm than Georgia. But at least he wasn't yelling or acting upset. "Hap there with you?"
"Yeah, you're on speaker, he's driving us back home."
"Congrats man. Just. Take care of her yeah?"
Happy cleared his throat a little. "Always."
"Send me a picture of your ring and your ink when it's done then call me back later so we can have a proper chat hon, yeah?" Georgia insisted.
"I will." Bella grinned at her phone. She was so grateful to have her parents in her life.
"I love ya both," her dad said quietly before the call ended.
"Went better than I thought," Happy said as Bella put her phone away.
"You're dad's best friend and Georgia loves you of course they're happy for us." Bella said a lot more confidently than she'd felt before the call.
"Hmm," Happy hummed with a smirk and she didn't think he brought it even if she had meant it.
It was a quick drive back helped by the fact Happy didn't pay attention to things like speed limits. They talked about where her tattoo would go. Happy suggested her back but she wanted it somewhere it would be seen, not just by others but so she could see it too. She could see that explanation had pleased him by the bright fire that burnt in his dark eyes. He said the tattoo would work fine where she wanted it; he'd just tweak it slightly. She trusted him, his work was amazing.
When they got back Bella started cleaning the kitchen while Happy set up the breakfast bar.
"Girly, grab one of the cokes and get ya self something to eat."
She shrugged but did as he said. She placed the coke where she'd be sitting and quickly a small chocolate bar she'd been saving.
"Ya good?" Happy asked as she took the seat next to him.
She nodded, the disinfectant he'd used getting into her nostrils wiped down her right arm carefully before he pulled out a razor and shaved the inside part of her arm.
"Okay… I wasn't aware I had hair there…?" She asked, watching everything her man did carefully.
"Everyone does. Just small and if I leave 'em there they could fuck it up." Happy shrugged before pulling out his gun and opening his small tub of black ink. "Let me know if it gets too much. Ya can handle it but ya need a break we'll take a break. You sure here's good? No changing your mind later."
Bella smiled and rolled her eyes. "Yeah I'm sure."
The pain was a different pain. It wasn't bad. It felt… like she had sunburn and someone was dragging a needle over it. More annoying than truly hurting.
It was amazing sitting and watching the sketch Happy had made her come to life on her skin.
After the outline was done he changed the end of his gun. It looked a little thicker and she was surprised as she watched him add more to her skin that it tattooed more of her skin but left less ink behind. It was then that the pain went from annoying to actually uncomfortable.
"Ya need a break?" Her man asked halfway through shading in the large design.
"Yes. Please." Bella said disappointed in herself.
"Doin' real good Girly. Ain't even flinched once. Most o' the guys I tattoo would be shuffling around like they had ants in their pants by now. Ain't nothing wrong with a break." Happy said cleaning up a little then wrapping her arm with cellophane.
When he was done Bella hopped down and went in search of her little wooden box in the living room. Opening she sighed at the two joints she had left. She would need to see Bobby to get some more. Maybe considering their financial situation they could just go without. They had their smokes and drinks. Plus they got free drinks at the club as long as they paid their subs.
"Wanna share with me?" Bella asked, holding up the penultimate joint.
"Sure," Happy nodded while he stretched.
Bella lit the joint while taking in his amazing physique that was shown just right when he raised his arms like that. He was so hot. And he was hers now. No questions, no worries, no second guessing, she grinned as she released a cloud of gray smoke.
As Bella sat for the second half of her tattoo with a pleasant buzz that helped with the pain she couldn't quite believe she was there. Bella never could have guessed when Edward first left her and she'd ridden with Happy that she'd be getting his ink and willing to marry him. She never would have thought that she had a job she loved and would end up in a bike club that she would die for. She had thought she'd fade and die back then, instead her she was flying to heights she never could even have imagined. Her life was far from perfect but with Happy wiping down her tattoo, emotion burning bright in his eyes and a grin she couldn't quit she thought it was as close to it as she could ever get.
0202020202
Bella sighed as she pulled into the club besides Happy. It was their second day off. She had her ink and they had been spending the day in bed. A perfect day off in her opinion, they'd had simple plans for the evening, leftovers, a few beers and heading back to bed. Happy was working his way through the kama sutra it seemed and she had no objections at all. Instead they were at the club house where they'd been called in. Neither had been happy about it but if the club needed them they were there no matter what was happening at home. It was the way it was. She wondered why she'd been asked to come too though.
She followed Happy inside, noting all of the bikes. There was a full house and then some. Her heart sank as it started beating faster, something big must be going down. She squared her shoulders and took a deep breath, the gun in her waistband sat comfortingly against her skin, no longer cold as it had been when she'd first placed it there.
Bella stopped dead as she entered at Happy's side. Her mouth dropped open and then she started laughing. Jax, Juice, Pie, Bobby, Tig, her dad, Georgia and Gemma were holding up a handmade sign on what looked to be old bed sheets reading 'congratulations Happy and Bella!' A roar went up in the full clubhouse and yells of 'congratulations' filled the space. The club had arranged a celebration for them. Her heart filled and even Happy cracked a smile as his arm wrapped around her waist tugging her into his side.
Bella and Happy were passed around from person to person for hugs. Everyone stopped to talk and Bella hadn't stopped smiling.
"I wanted to make this a wake but Gemma wouldn't let me," Tig grinned as they reached him.
"Wake?" Happy grunted a beer in his hand now.
"Yeah, well you're taking the tightest damn ass off the market and losing your balls to her at the same time. Don't feel like there's much to celebrate," Tig said with a wide toothy smile and a wink as Bobby and Piney laughed with him.
"Let's see it!" Georgia interrupted after shooting Tig a half assed glare, her hand grabbing Bella's to see the ring on her finger. "It's beautiful. Great taste sweetheart," she looked briefly at Happy before grabbing Bella's other hand and extending it to see the new art on her forearm. "Now that's amazing. Perfect hon. Just perfect. I'm so happy for you guys, so damn happy."
"Damn, that's awesome," Juice nodded with Georgia.
Her tattoo had taken almost four hours and she didn't think she could have been happier with it. It was a large crow with dark beady eyes, holding in its eyes a smiley face. Its wings were outstretched as if in flight and its talons were clasped with a phoenix's the bird copying the posture of the crow. They looked like they were dancing through the air together, the fire coming off the phoenix circled around the pair protecting them and further binding them together. She loved it.
"Sick," Jax nodded, agreeing with them all.
Bella took note of Jax. Something was different with him. He wasn't fully there and his eyes had bags under them. His words while sincere weren't as enthusiastic as she'd have thought.
Bella worried about Jax on and off for the next few hours. She enjoyed herself and was really grateful to Gemma and Georgia who had arranged this but it was a little niggle at the back of her mind throughout.
Eventually she managed to spot him alone after Happy had told her he was gonna take a leak and chat with a couple of nomads who had come along with her dad. She walked over to him grabbed his arm and towed him outside glad to see the laugh sparkling in his eyes.
The outside was deserted for now so she picked a picnic bench, sat on it and pulled out her smokes. When they both had one she faced the man who she saw as a brother and spoke.
"What is it?"
"Gonna need more words than that darlin'," he grinned but his eyes were still dull and flat.
"Uh huh. Tell me or I'm going to ask Gemma what's wrong with you."
"You're going to go running to my mom?"
Bella nodded completely unrepentant.
Jax sighed and took a long drag of his smoke before flicking the ash to the floor. "It's Wendy."
"Jax, not again!" Bella said with her own sigh. Jax had tried to get back with Wendy after she sobered up but it had been a shit show. Bella didn't think the woman was good enough for Jax, she was selfish, manipulative and took Jax for a ride. She hadn't made a secret of her feelings on the subject either. She wanted Jax to be happy and he wasn't going to be with the junkie.
"It ain't that!" Jax protested.
"Okay then what is it?"
"She's pregnant," Jax said in a low voice, his eyes dropping to the table.
Bella hid her shock and repulsion at the thought. "How do you feel about that?"
"How do you think I feel? I tried to get her to get rid of it! Kids got no future. Outlaw dad, junkie mom. And we ain't getting back together. No fucking way. I ain't ready to be a dad. And she sure as hell ain't ready to be a mom."
Bella nodded, she didn't disagree with him about Wendy. "You'd be an awesome dad. All the kid needs is one parent who'll be there no matter what, who'll turn up. Who'll chase away the monsters and let them know it'll be okay. Trust me. If she keeps it, you'll be that one parent. Because you'll need to be."
"How do I do that?"
"You do the same shit that you've done for me. Hugs when I feel like shit, kick my ass when I need it, let me know you've got my back. You can do it for a shy girl from butt fuck nowhere that you don't know from Eve, you can do it for your own flesh and blood. You're a good man Jax, one of the best and you've got this."
Jax shook his head. "You think?"
"I know," Bella said honestly.
"So when are you gonna start popping out rugrats?" Jax changed the subject with a grin, she was happy to see his eyes had cleared a little.
"Never. I don't want kids."
"You don't?" Jax's eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"Nope."
"Is Happy cool with that?" Jax asked, lighting another smoke and offering her one which she took.
"He said he didn't want any before we got together," Bella shrugged. It had been a relief knowing he felt the same way about children. It wasn't that she didn't like them, she just didn't want that responsibility for herself. She'd had enough responsibility for other people growing up.
"That was before he decided to wife you up. He might change his mind now. Want a proper little housewife to come back to after a long ride. Tiny psychopaths running around his ankles," Jax teased.
"You've met Happy right?" Bella laughed while flipping him off and trying to ignore his words. Happy wasn't like the other guys when it came to the domestic side of things, he didn't expect her to do everything, he didn't want her waiting on him hand and foot, he wanted her how she was. It was one of the many reasons she loved him.
"Fair point."
"Come on, let's go back in. You feeling better now?"
"Yeah, thanks Bells," Jax said, standing up and offering his hand to help her up. She took it with an eye roll and a smile.
"I knew it! I knew you were one of those club whores!"
Bella's blood turned to ice and her vision blurred slightly at the sudden rush of adrenaline that that particular voice instilled.
"The fuck?" Jax frowned as together they turned to face the woman.
"Hi mom," Bella said coldly.
