Giovanni pleads, "Please, don't leave! I apologize!"
Andy responds, "What more do you want? It's clear you're not interested in us."
Giovanni admits, "I understand. My behavior towards you and your friends won't help me make connections. My parents have told me that many times. That's why I'm here, to learn how to socialize. I lashed out in frustration at myself, and I'm truly sorry. Can we start fresh and be friends?"
Andy hesitates, "You really upset my brother. He's used to unkindness from others, making it hard for him to trust anyone but me."
Giovanni points out, "But he seems to trust Tyler and Katie."
Andy explains, "They were kind and respectful from the start, unlike you. Your lack of appreciation for his kindness when he approached you on the bench hurt him. He struggles with extreme shyness, yet he tried to connect with you. If you want Steven's trust, you must change your attitude."
Giovanni promises, "I will. Please, give me another chance."
Andy looks at Steven, who remains hesitant.
"Steven isn't ready to forgive you, and neither am I," Andy concludes.
Exasperated, Giovanni lets out a deep sigh, his disappointment evident. "I comprehend. I shall retreat to the bench once more. Despite everything, that is where I belong," he mutters as he trudges back towards it.
The young boys gracefully enter the park, their presence commanding attention.
"We witnessed the entire incident. Perhaps we should consider giving him another opportunity," Logan suggests, his voice filled with compassion.
Andy, however, dismisses the idea without hesitation. "Absolutely not. Steven is not comfortable with that. We cannot place our trust in Giovanni," he asserts firmly.
Logan, empathetic towards Giovanni's solitude, persists, "But he is all alone over there again."
"That was his decision," Andy retorts, his tone unwavering.
Kendall interjects, her voice gentle yet persuasive, "Andy, don't you desire for Steven to find a new friend?"
"Of course I do. That is precisely why we came here," Andy concedes. "However, we did not come here to be disrespected by the first child we encountered."
Kendall, joined by Carlos and James, continues to advocate for Giovanni. "I concur," Carlos affirms.
"Count me in as well," James adds.
Andy, resolute in his stance, declares, "I refuse to subject Steven to unnecessary stress by forcing him to interact with Giovanni."
"Very well. We shall take it upon ourselves to bridge the gap," Carlos declares, sprinting towards Giovanni.
Perplexed, Andy questions, "Huh? What does he mean? Where is he going?"
"Salutations Giovanni, I am Carlos," introduces Carlos.
"I'm intrigued, how did you come to know my name? Although we've never crossed paths, you do strike me as somewhat familiar," Giovanni wonders as Logan, Kendall, and James approach.
"Goodness gracious, you're none other than Big Time Rush!" Giovanni exclaims. "That explains why Carlos seemed recognizable! What brings you gentlemen to this neck of the woods?"
"We happen to be acquaintances of Andy and Steven," Carlos explains.
"Ah, those siblings who are not particularly fond of me at the moment," Giovanni acknowledges. "Should I prepare myself for a scolding from you gentlemen as well?"
"No, quite the contrary. We aim to mend the rift between you," Logan suggests.
"How might that come to pass? They currently harbor suspicions towards me," Giovanni questions.
Logan elegantly states, "To gain the trust of Andy and Steven, one must embrace their interests and preferences." He continues, "Have you noticed the subtle differences between Andy and Steven?"
Giovanni ponders for a moment before responding, "Indeed, Steven possesses a service dog named Tyson. However, I am uncertain of its purpose."
Logan enlightens Giovanni, "Steven is autistic, which explains Andy's protective nature towards him."
Giovanni seeks guidance, "How can I approach Andy without causing any harm to Steven?"
Logan advises, "As we mentioned earlier, you must display genuine interest in their shared passions. We shall assist you in this endeavor. Steven has a fondness for Sesame Street."
Giovanni expresses his skepticism, "That particular show is intended for preschoolers."
Logan acknowledges Giovanni's concern, "We are aware, but due to Steven's autism, he finds immense joy in that program."
Curiosity gets the better of Giovanni, "May I inquire about Steven's age? He appears to be around my age, yet his behavior resembles that of an elementary school student."
Logan inquires, "And how old are you, Giovanni?"
Giovanni responds, "I am twelve years old."
Logan reveals, "Steven is the same age as you. However, due to his condition, he may exhibit behaviors that are younger than his chronological age. Nevertheless, he attends middle school alongside Andy."
Giovanni's curiosity persists, "How old is Andy then?"
Logan answers, "Andy is eleven years old."
Giovanni expresses his surprise, "All this time, I assumed Andy was older due to his maturity compared to Steven."
Logan explains, "Andy assumes the role of the mature one. While Steven possesses intelligence, his social skills are not as developed as Andy's. Hence, Andy acts as his protector and advocate."
"Fascinating. What other interests do they have aside from Sesame Street?" Giovanni inquires.
"Marvel, Star Wars, Mario Brothers, and Legos," Logan replies.
"I'm into all that too," Giovanni admits. "When I was young, I used to think the Muppets on Sesame Street were my buddies. Those were the good old days."
"Great. Are you ready to join Andy and Steven?" Logan asks.
"Absolutely. Where are they?" Giovanni scans the park eagerly.
"Over by the swings! Let's go, Katie and Tyler are there too! It's time for some fun!" Carlos exclaims, bounding off in the direction.
"Does he ever run out of steam?" Giovanni chuckles.
"Never," Kendall, James, and Logan reply in unison, amused by their friend's boundless energy.
At the swings...
"Did you see how high I was swinging? I felt like I could touch the sky," Katie gushes.
"That's how I feel on the swings too," Andy agrees.
